September 2021[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Dollyplay. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Farhan Wilayat have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Dollyplay (talk) 07:20, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Draft:Farhan Wilayat, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 07:50, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your kind response. I am a bit new here and I am learning more through my experiences. I was previously sharing small contributions. This time I have created a fresh article. In response to Dollyplay's observation, I added External ARticles as evidences; so I thought those will suffice the requirement. Can you please check the draft and share your guidelines. Dr Paul Harrison (talk) 07:54, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much Nomadicghumakkad for the guidance. I have shortened the list of external links. Now, only 3 links (of GNN Channel, NEO News, and SAMAA News) are listed there as evidences of that person's work. Once again thanks. Dr Paul Harrison (talk) 18:00, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Dr Paul Harrison, this has merit under WP:NBIO. But will need to be fixed. Can you remove all sources that are not about him directly? Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 23:42, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Nomadicghumakkad, thanks for your kind response. All these external references are directly about him/ his projects. (I thats why mentioned them as evidences as the official teams of 3 different channels visited those projects and shared verified reports, so these are for evidence purpose only). Once again thanks for your support and guidance. Dr Paul Harrison (talk) 06:54, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Nomadicghumakkad, please I need an additional guidance. I shared the references about four different events happened in Pakistan (including "Lahore church bombings", "religious discrimination", "sectarian violence", and "forced conversion of minority girls in Pakistan") as evidences of those incidences. Do you mean I should remove their references (as those reference are not about Farhan Wilayat, those references are those unpleasant/ terrorism activities happened in Pakistan). Dr Paul Harrison (talk) 07:11, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Correct, please remove those to start with. Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 16:30, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Farhan Wilayat (October 2)[edit]

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by S0091 were:  The comment the reviewer left was: Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit when they have been resolved.
S0091 (talk) 21:11, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dear S0091, Thanks for your detailed message but let me try to explain a few points in response to your observations:

Point 1: Your observation [Many of the sources are either written by him, are only brief mentions or do not mention him at all (ex. Express Tribune, BBC, etc.)] My explanation: You will notice that I have mentioned that the said social activist organizes => a. interviews, b. trips, c. tours, d. discussions/ meetings etc. for promotion of interfaith harmony. Obviously, he organized those interviews and visits, so the relevant web pages evidencing the interviews/ discussions/ tours etc. conducted by him were added as reference/ evidence. Secondly, you said some sources did not mention him at all. In this regard, you will notice that I mentioned some seriously unpleasant incidences happened in Pakistan by the extremist people which made him start these interfaith activities. Those references were mentioned as evidences of extremist activities in Pakistan (like bomb explosions, church attacks, forced conversions etc.). He is of course not behind all those extremist activities, thats why he was not mentioned in those pages. Those references were only the to identify the violence in Pakistan. Point 2: While he has received several awards or recognition, none of them confer notability. My explanation: Many of those awards have own wikipedia pages, including Kentucky Colonel, Gusi Prize and Wolf Award. Gusi Peace Prize is being given by the President of Philippines and Kentucky Colonel is given by the Governor of Kentucky. Wolf Award was first given to Nelson Mandela. After achieving recognition from UK, Canada, USA, Philippines and Italy, I am wondering if he still does not hold any notable award. However, I shall try my level best to make meaningful changes in that article as per the advices and instructions. Dr Paul Harrison (talk) 14:27, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Theroadislong, link of ArabNews has been removed. Actually, I mentioned the unpleasant and miserable situation of religious minorities in Pakistan and to verify that fact, I mentioned the reference of ArabNews article along with that statement. However, I have removed it as per instructions. Dr Paul Harrison (talk) 04:44, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Farhan wilayat moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Farhan wilayat, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. March 2022[edit]

Hello Dr Paul Harrison. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Dr Paul Harrison. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Dr Paul Harrison|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. GPL93 (talk) 17:00, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit reversion[edit]

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 13:30, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your kind message and instructions. Actually that website (wealthmanagement.bnpparibas.co.in) directly belongs to BNP Paribas. I therefore didn't know that retrieving information about BNP Paribas Award for the Wikipedia page of BNP Paribas will be a kind of violation of copyrights. Hi, hope you are doing well. You should understand a fact that I am currently in learning phase. I am not an expert or exponent of Wikipedia. I shall definitely make mistakes and then will learn through my mistakes. So, instead of threatening me, you should guide me in polite way. As far as my write up was concerned; I added everything in that page with proper references. I did not add anything without any reference. Third thing is... you should give me another chance. I shall make necessary changes in my previous edit and will let you know to re-visit the page. Hope you will understand this and will give me another chance. Good Noon, I have made some changes in my edits. Please check. Are those edits OK now? Dr Paul Harrison (talk) 10:05, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Gusi Peace Prize 2019.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Gusi Peace Prize 2019.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 07:20, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
