December 2021[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Ford Ranger (T6) has been reverted.
Your edit here to Ford Ranger (T6) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://twitter.com/rothairisbeoir/status/1470112012508270593, https://web.archive.org/web/20211212192822/https://twitter.com/rothairisbeoir/status/1470112012508270593) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Notability / relevance of traffic incident[edit]

In your edits to Ford Ranger (T6), you mention that the SUV model was involved in a road accident in the vicinity of Dublin, Ireland. Noting that the incident was mentioned by several news outlets, you claim the incident to be notable and thus worthy of mention on the page. I would argue:

  1. National news outlets do carry stories of local interest. The New York Times, considered one of the United States' "national" newspapers, nonetheless has a "Metro" section that contains news generally only of interest to people in New York City. Similarly, I suspect, for "national" outlets in Dublin. Surely, the entire nation of Ireland is not expected to be invested in a road accident that occurred in Dublin, but the locals surely are, especially since most of the news coverage is asking local witnesses to come forward. This does not make for a notable event.
  2. None of the sources mention that the SUV involved in the event was a Ford Ranger, so there is no reliable source to claim that this incident is relevant to this page.

I have reverted your edit for these reasons. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:21, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@WikiDan61: Hi WikiDan61, thank you for your observations on my recent edits to Ford Ranger (T6). On:
  1. The Irish Examiner 's publication is geographically removed from Dublin, with circulation primarily in Cork in Ireland's South West region. I consider that this indicates notability beyond the immediate area in which the accident occurred. The state broadcaster's coverage of the national police service's engagement also indicates notability beyond the immediate area in which the accident occurred. In this respect, The Irish Times' publication under "Crime & Law", rather than in a "Metro" section, suggests notability beyond merely the accident's location.
  2. The accident's aftermath was photographed, demonstrating a Ranger's involvement. This link was removed by XLinkBot. I am reviewing Wikipedia:Verifiability with a view to citing the photos while complying with the policy's guidance.
Consequently, it is my view that the incident is notable and reliably sourced.

A blurry twitter photo is hardly a reliable source. Also, a single accident is not encyclopedically notable unless it results in some change to the status of the topic. (E.g. a Tesla self-driving accident that results in the banning of that technology.) One SUV having an accident is hardly the material that an encyclopedia should concern itself with.
