John Twelve Hawks page[edit]

Thanks so much for editing the John Twelve Hawks page! I normally don't edit Wikipedia at all, but this entry was getting out of hand.

Ugh! Thanks for putting the image of those flowers before that strikingly ugly Renaissance lady. Lol. Look to the article on Villani now, I have greatly improved it, although it is much shorter now.--Pericles of AthensTalk 18:15, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've addressed your concerns once more; look to the article talk page and the FAC discussion page.--Pericles of AthensTalk 17:02, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I can't find anything substantial on Louis Green, but I was able to start an article on the Toronto Professor Kenneth R. Bartlett, the author that I quoted in the introduction--Pericles of AthensTalk 02:16, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SlickTommy[edit]

SlickTommy: No idea where to put this, so why not under one of my favorite forms of government? Lol.

I took away a comment on Steve Balmer because I though it was derogatory and these things really don't need to be said, when they are not proven fact. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SlickTommy (talkcontribs) 22:20, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SlickTommy(2nd comment): Whether his statement was brash or not, there really is no use to degrade a person on wikipedia. A lot of similar things were said, however, wikipedia tends to ask questions about mass deletions. If the rebuttals to what Steven Balmer said must be said, the put it under the Iphone article, under criticism. Also, that ugly duchess picture is oddly hilarious. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SlickTommy (talkcontribs) 03:38, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Answer to your message(from sina6002)[edit]

Greetings. "Foundation" is part of their name. That makes it a proper noun (does it not?) and it is the way they always refer to themselves - see http://www.mcfworld.com/?lang=EN and compare Wikimedia Foundation. Regards, -Arb. (talk) 11:45, 12 February 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Sergio Vallín[edit]

Great job on translating Sergio Vallín. I made some additional changes but I guess we can set it to 100% translated now, since the Spanish version provides no more information. Thanks! ~RayLast «Talk!» 16:16, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know that following your sterling efforts in relation to this article, another editor has taken the bull by the horns and removed a load of stuff. In one sense, I can't argue that, but I would hope that this is not just throwing the baby out with the bath water. I have reverted him for the time being, pending discussion, if not consensus, and hope you'll pitch in, given your previous input to this article. • As far as I know the "unreferenced" tag is for any time when there are no sources in evidence on the page, not just for stubs. But since I inserted the tag, I guess someone else came and put references there, so I removed the tag. Egpetersen (talk) 12:44, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I just wanted to inform you that we have taken the Wikipedia delegable proxy experiment live. I encourage you to nominate a proxy. The proxy designation instructions are at Wikipedia:Delegable proxy/Table. For instance, if you wish to nominate me as a proxy, you can just go to User:Dwarf Kirlston/Proxy, create a new page, and then enter:

{{subst:Wikipedia:Delegable proxy/Table/Designate|Absidy}}

You may remember me as User:Sarsaparilla. We worked together on the UN Parliamentary Assembly article. Thanks, Absidy (talk) 07:39, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Islamist (term)[edit]

I see you have a history of working on the article Islamist (term). I am looking at it from the project Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles where it is one of the longest {{unreferenced}} tagged articles that does not meet at least the barest minimum of verifiability. It has been tagged and completely without references since June 2006. It would be extremely helpful if you had some references you could add to the article to help support its verifiability and notability. Thanks for any help you can give.

P.S. I do see there is one ref for particular fact, but it does not talk of the term "Islamist" at that I could find. BirgitteSB 21:30, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Creative license redirect[edit]

I do not think that Creative license should redirect to creative director - would you mind explaining to me why it should? I believe a more logical redirect would be to creative commons license - thanks for reading this message, please respond in my talk page.--Kiyarrllston 04:12, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine. I directed it there because it's sometimes used to describe the authority to be creative in an organization. But since it's rarely used that way, a direct to creative commons license is fine. We can always disambiguate later. Oicumayberight (talk) 03:02, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"China is a country"[edit]

Hi, I'm attempting a re-write of the opening of China to resolve the definitional issue that has plagued the article. I noticed that you commented previously on the issue. I've opened a straw poll to gauge whether consensus is to define "China is a country". Could I ask you to comment/vote at Talk:China#Straw poll? --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 10:00, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Responding to your comment on the discussion page: Common sense may appear to indicate that Fear is the opposite of Courage, but in psychological and behavioural terms it certainly isn't. Fear is often said to accompany Courage, which overcomes it in the 'courageous' person. The two emotions are commonly in conflict, yet are not direct opposites. Not all such concepts have opposites. Curiosity, I think, comes under Interest. Centrepull (talk) 12:10, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Econ question[edit]

Ugh, your sig makes it two whole steps to find your talk page. I'm outraged.

See here, but the real response was on the talk page above where you commented. I believe that's the only place where it was answered and my original question was motivated by a conflict of interest concern that I could not address due to a lack of experience. You may want to discuss this with User:Guido_den_Broeder, who was the COI party that added it in the first place (note that I've a far from smooth relationship with GDB and my quite biased opinion is that he is problematic to deal with as I believe he fails to acknowledge that his COI could in some way impact his editing). There may have been been other answers that I can't recall right now, if I remember them I'll post them.

Personally I'm content to let others deal with the issue because I'm ignorant - if someone familiar with economics says that the sources are appropriate, I'm content to leave it. I've no idea if they're fairly represented.

Incidentally, on your wikiproject posting along with one other editor your indent is off, making it twitchy to tell who says what. Not hard, just twitchy. Which is probably ungrammatical in addition to being nonsensical. Hope you don't mind, I've corrected it. WLU (talk) 18:41, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here is how I see the Jack Kemp article. There are varying degrees of notability. There are individuals whose life can be completely summarized by national and international publications. There are individuals who for portions of their lives they are completely described in national publications. There are individuals who pass WP:N who are virtually without mention in national publications. My feeling is that once a person is sufficiently notable to be adequately catalogued in international or at least national forums, no issue directly relating to him that is not found at that level is encyclopedic in relation to his general biography. You can see I am currently working on Byron Brown. Much of his career requires accounting by local Buffalo papers. However, the portions of his career where he was a state senator and then mayor of the state's second largest city are well chronicled by the New York Times. I have removed (check edit summaries) any activities from this part of his career that are not noted in such publications. There are important stories in his biographical construction that he is a secondary player that are only chronicled in local publications that are included. However, if he is the main player and it is not covered by the New York Times, it is not encyclopedic in my mind.

Jack Kemp is the type of person who has been notable at an international level for nearly 50 years. We should not need any local publications to catalog anything that has happened to him since he has been a professional athlete. I think emphasis would be misplaced arguing points about his personal activity not supported by any national or international publication in a general biography of a person of his international significance. That is why I feel you should support the article in pretty much its current form.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 06:35, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He is down the list a bit. I have listed him at WP:PR in the mean time. It might be well into summer before he comes up again.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 00:22, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request for help[edit]

I thought it might be a good idea to run a contest or two through the Countries WikiProject to attract editors to improve country coverage on Wikipedia, especially the country outlines.

I noticed you are a member of the WikiProject, and was wondering if you could help.

I've posted a message at Countries WikiProject talk page to get discussion started on what the awards programs should be and how they should be run.

Your ideas and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I liked the intro better the other way. I know it was a little long, and not the standard Wikipedia intro, but it seemed more "professional" the other way. That's my opinion, anyway--Johnny Spasm (talk) 11:39, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I grasp the concept that the intro is supposed to only be a brielf synopsis; I just think as it currently exists, it is a little too brief. I plan on looking into it in the near future and seeing if there is a way I can fix it to my liking. That's my picture on the article, by the way.--Johnny Spasm (talk) 02:09, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Dwarf Kirlston! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 940 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Sergio Vallín - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

WikiProject Economics census[edit]

Hello there. Sorry to bother you, but you are (titularly at least) a member of WP:WikiProject Economics, as defined by this category. If you don't know me, I'm a Wikipedia administrator, but an unqualified economist. I enjoy writing about economics, but I'm not very good at it, which is why I would like to support in any way I can the strong body of economists here on Wikipedia. I'm only bothering you because you are probably one of them. Together, I'd like us to establish the future direction of WikiProject Economics, but first, we need to know who we've got to help.

Whatever your area of expertise or level of qualification, if you're interested in helping with the WikiProject (even if only as part of a larger commitment to this wonderful online encyclopedia of ours), would you mind adding your signature to this page? It only takes a second. Thank you.

Message delivered on behalf of User:Jarry1250 by LivingBot.

Firstly, thank you for signing the census, and an apology if you are one of those editors who dislike posts such as this one for messaging you again in this way. I've now got myself organised and you can opt-out of any future communication at WP:WikiProject Economics/Newsletter. Just remove your name and you wonn't be bothered again.
Secondly, and most importantly, I would like to invite your comments on the census talk page about the project as a whole. I've given my own personal opinion on a range of topics, but my babbling is essentially worthless without your thoughts - I can't believe for one moment that everyone agrees with me in the slightest! :)
All your comments are welcomed. Thanks, - Jarry1250 [Humorous? Discuss.] 17:52, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
