LOL

I can't help but laugh every time you use this edit summary! I'm easily amused...

I posted a few more pictures but ran into a tough one. Check my comment for the Moseley Homestead. I despise the phone but I may need to try to call them in order to get a picture of that place. The one NHRP site said it's one of the oldest homes in the entire area! —Wknight94 (talk) 03:27, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

The edit summary, it's true. The Buffy fan in me. Glad to amuse. :) My other edit summary I'd like to popularize is "rv fandalism". For the "fill-in-the-blank-teen-heartthrob IS HAWWWTTTT!!!!" kind of edits.
Yeah, there are some that ain't easy to get. The Stovall House is fenced all 'round and landscaped, and I've gotten the best pics of it I could. The one down there I'd love to get is the A. M. Lamb House. Check the footage of them moving it. Way cool! :) -Ebyabe (talk) 02:54, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: Orange County NRHPs and others

I did it. Brevard County is next, but I'm also considering Lake County as well. I know you added a photo to my Pinellas County list. Do you have any you want to add to the Broward and Orange County ones? ----DanTD (talk) 13:55, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Good-oh! I don't have any pics in Broward (haven't been there in years, and it's low-priority on my list to get pics of), but I added one to the Orange County list. Btw, my philosophy on adding pics to the lists is one decent one per city in a county. But not so they go further down than the listing itself. But that's just me. :) There's actually more that can be added to Brevard. Fl295 covered most of the county. I plan on going down and finishing it off, especially KSC.
Lake County doesn't need it's own list, at least not yet, imho. If you're going to do more, I'd say Lee and Leon counties are more deserving. Maybe St. Johns, too. Anyway, keep up the good work. Once the main list is more manageable, maybe we can start thinking about getting it to featured list status. :) -Ebyabe (talk) 03:07, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
I've been experimenting with feature list options for the list. See here for a couple of examples. This is long range, mind you. Breaking the main list into more manageable chunks, as we're doing now, is the first step. :) -Ebyabe (talk) 03:28, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

NRHP infobox

Thanks, sorry about screwing up the template. I just made another change, can you see if I screwed up again? Ed Fitzgerald (unfutz) (talk / cont) 02:52, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

And -- is there a reason this infobox is larger than so many others? Ed Fitzgerald (unfutz) (talk / cont) 02:54, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
I copied the format from the Protected Areas template when I first created it, you can blame them, I guess. We've tried various adjustments over time; this is what seems to work best. But improvements are always possible. -Ebyabe (talk) 02:59, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Methodist churches in Florida

Thanks for creating the new category. It will save a lot of confusion. clariosophic (talk) 03:50, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

You're welcome. I'm a lapsed Catholic, so the difference between Methodist, Episcopal, and Methodist Episcopal eludes me. But I shoulda created the category before anyway, to match the ones on WikiCommons. Also created Category:Baptist churches in Florida, to be a completist. Speaking of Commons, I got some better pics of United Hebrews of Ocala (Florida) yesterday and uploaded most of them. -Ebyabe (talk) 04:00, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
You're the best. The new pix are great. My mind stopped functioning 30 minutes or so ago, so I'll study them tommorow. Thanks again for all your contributions. clariosophic (talk) 04:29, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Hey, my mind stopped functioning hours ago; I'm on auto-pilot. *lol* Anyway, yes, bedtime, enjoy the pics, thanks, cheerio, nite-nite. :) -Ebyabe (talk) 04:32, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi Ebyabe -- Your input is invited. I've gone ahead and asked for peer review on the List of National Historic Landmarks in New York list, including the List of National Historic Landmarks in New York City (hopefully to be considered by the peer reviewers as well). Goodbread-Black Historic District

I haven't been out there since my grandfather, Fred Goodbread died in 1963. My mother went out to the farm during a Florida visit a couple of years ago. Let me check with her and get back to you.Mgreason (talk) 21:03, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Wow, didn't know you were actually related. Cool! I await with baited breath. :) -Ebyabe (talk) 23:10, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Pix

U R welcome. I'd love to. I went looking for some other SP places, but had a hard time navigating SP. Dlohcierekim 00:27, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

My last trip down in October, I only got as far south as Largo and Safety Harbor. I'll probably be down there in a few months, but 'til then... :) If you need map help, I've got ones I've made up for most of the places from Pensacola down to Lake Okeechobee. I can post Google links on my pic request page, like I did for Volusia County, if it'll help. -Ebyabe (talk) 00:33, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Nah. I just need to get used to those <<shudder>> 1 way streets. <<grin>> —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dlohcierekim (talkcontribs) 01:56, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Egmont key

Is this Image:Florida- 1699 Egmont Key.JPG image OK to use? His licensure statement is off. O probably have some somewhere. My mom fainted on the way back from the park and the ride got a little to exciting. Dlohcierekim 00:40, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

It looks OK, but I'm a little fuzzy on the licensing thing anyway. And hope the mom is okey-dokey. :)
Gotta get to Egmont myself. That's also on my list of things to do; visit all the Florida state parks. I got my year pass, which is likely one of the best investments I've made. At least I know I'll probably have a place to sleep, no matter where I go, even if it's in my car in a state park! :) -Ebyabe (talk) 00:49, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
I found the gallery I shot and it's up. Dlohcierekim 01:16, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Sputter coating

I just reverted past a revert of yours from a while back on Sputter coating with the edit summary "two vandals." Your revert was good, I was just moving too fast trying to make sure I got back to a good version. Again, sorry about that. - Eldereft ~(s)talk~ 05:26, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

That's cool. I don't even remember how I noticed the vandalism; the article isn't on my watchlist. No worries, mate! :) -Ebyabe (talk) 00:21, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. If you get to DeFuniak, St. Agatha's Episcopal Church and its vicarage, McLendon House, are contributing properties in the DeFuniak Springs Historic District if I'm not mistaken. I may think of more later. Many thanks and best wishes. clariosophic (talk) 01:12, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

See, now that's info I can use. :) That hamlet is on the list for day one. I'm going to head out on I-10/US 90 to Pensacola, then back along US 98. I should get at least 8 counties worth of pics! -Ebyabe (talk) 01:23, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

move of NRHP talk material

Hi Ebyabe, I wonder if you could comment to me individually and/or on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places/Photos of NRHP sites about your intent in moving its discussion from the NRHP talk page to that new page. I do perceive your intent to have been friendly, but don't understand what was/is to be accomplished, and would perhaps want to move it all back to the Talk page of NRHP. I know I could use some education on options for moderating discussions, when discussions get long and awkward to follow. This move and the related move of other stuff to a similar page might have made things more awkward though. doncram (talk) 19:46, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey. The photo and the standardization discussions were becoming so big, I believed they deserved their own individual discussion pages. There are getting to be so many "threads" on the main article talk page that it's making the page really long, and getting a bit hard to keep track of them all. I just thought this would make things a bit simpler, that's all. :) -Ebyabe (talk) 19:51, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

I have a question regarding the Kissimmee Historic District similar to that of the Dunnellon Boomtown Historic District: Is there any chance that the Kissimmee (Amtrak station), which was originally an Atlantic Coast Line depot is among the historic buildings within this district? ----DanTD (talk) 23:43, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Ick, the boundaries for that district are kinda wacky, ain't they? It seems possible, but hard to be sure. Kissimmee is on my itinerary for a visit in the near-ish future, but not sure how near-ish. However, this link [1] has a great bibliography at the bottom which may be of help. Also, the Osceola County Historical Society & Pioneer Center Museum could be of assistance. They might have the info on record of what are contributing properties for the district. Or there's trying to contact the National Park Service. Hope these random ideas help. :) -Ebyabe (talk) 00:21, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Daytona Beach, El Pino Parque Historic District

Hi. Having finally recovered enough from my vacation to return to get my pics organized, I added one pic to the article about the El Pino Parque Historic District. The one I chose actually has an NRHP plaque by the door, so I'm sure it's a contributing property in the district. The rest of the pics I took are at User:Lvklock/ElPinoParque in Wikimedia. (I'm sure there must be a way to wikilink that, but I don't know what it is.) If you have a chance, take a look and see if you think any more should be added. Thanks. Lvklock (talk) 02:18, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

It would be User:Lvklock/ElPinoParque, or something like that. And thanks for getting even more pics, hurrah! :)
Strangely, I don't like the idea of adding too many pics to articles. Well, at least stubs, as are many of the Florida NRHPs. I'd rather put a nice shot in the infobox, and link to WikiCommons for the rest. Examples in Volusia County are Lake Helen Historic District, New Smyrna Beach Historic District, Stetson University Campus Historic District and Strawn Historic Agricultural District.
Actually, it's more like this. If I have 4 or less shots, I'll add them all to a page, like on Southern Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp Historic District. But if I have more than 4, I'll do as I did with the districts I mentioned previously. One could always mix and match the concepts, I suppose.
Hope that helps. If you've got more questions, please to feel free to ask. Now I have to get back to the pics I took on my roadtrip this past weekend. Went from Marianna to Pensacola along US 90, then back along US 98. NRHPs and state parks, did I get photos! And weather was mostly perfect throughout. But sorting thru them all, geez! :) --Ebyabe (talk) 23:16, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Pensacola

Hi, and thanks for visiting Pensapedia! It sounds like a great and noble project you're working on. Of course, you're welcome to use any photos I've taken — some of them may not be marked public domain, so if you have a question, let me know and I'll change the license. If you missed a photo of a particular site and we don't have it yet, I can go take one.

Please feel free also to incorporate any new information you may find at Pensapedia (although, the articles we have on National Register sites were some of the first ones we did, so they're probably in dire need of revisiting). And if you have any questions or need more detailed information, I can try to research it for you.

Try to send a few links our way where appropriate, and thanks for tackling this ambitious endeavor. --Pensapedia (talk) 17:39, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the kind words, and I look forward to future communications. :) -Ebyabe (talk) 21:51, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Revised Wikipedia requested photographs in Florida

I saw your name at Wikipedia:Photo_Matching_Service#Florida. I revised Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Florida to make it easier for photographers in Florida to locate requests. Please consider adding your name at Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Marion County, Florida and monitoring requests at Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Florida for each Florida county in which you take photos. Thanks. GregManninLB (talk) 07:08, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. It was your work on Wikipedia requested photographs in Florida that allowed me to figure out that request by county was the way to go in the United States. GregManninLB (talk) 14:47, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Yay me! Oh, and yay you, too. ;) -Ebyabe (talk) 22:53, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Edits on the Baker Hotel

I did a research paper on the Baker a couple of years ago and found out about the hauntings. I think it is an important aspect of the history of the Baker Hotel. I was wondering why you took it out. I referenced where I found the information and made an external link this time so that shouldn't be a problem. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ambertcu (talkcontribs) 14:44, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey. The thing is, you cut-and-pasted the info directly from the website, which is copyright violation. Unless you're the author of that article, Bob Hopkins. Even then, it's still iffy. The better approach is to reword the info. It's not as simple, but it's in keeping with the style of Wikipedia. I hope that helps. Check the underlined links in the previous few sentences I added for more on Wikipedia standards. You can also post {{helpme}} on your talk page, and someone will come to your aid. :) -Ebyabe (talk) 23:03, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Hotel Thomas

Hi. Thanks for your message. I hope to do more in Gville. I still haven't forgotten De Funiak. I have the church article ready except fore one paragraph. Best wishes. clariosophic (talk)

Only got one decent one of St. Agatha's - this one. Hope it works for ya. This one was neat. Just added the St. Mary's ones. On to more uploading! :) -Ebyabe (talk) 22:37, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Many thanks. I just uploaded St. Agatha's Episcopal Church. The Methodist church is interesting, esp. the belfry/steeple, which resembles St. A's (which lost the steeple part in a hurricane, I believe, or it may have been build without one for lack of funds. The windows are interesting too. They have the shape of pointed Gothic windows, but the glass is a plain Jane rectangle. Thanks again. clariosophic (talk) 03:17, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

UF Campus HD

Hi, Thanks for adding the University Auditorium pic. I knew there was something missing on buildings designed by Edwards. I found a stub article on the building and expanded it and moved it to University Auditorium (Gainesville, Florida). Best wishes. clariosophic (talk) 13:17, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

I just found out that you added both an image for the DeLand (Amtrak station) and a gallery for the commons. I took a road trip to Orlando, Winter Park, and DeLand back in late February 2008 just for that purpose, but I've also got images of Orlando & Winter Park Amtrak stations. Once I fill up this camera, I intend to add them to their respected articles. Of course, now that you made the ones for DeLand already, it's clear I can only add some of them to the commons. ----DanTD (talk) 13:35, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

I was wondering when you'd notice. :) It was by accident, actually. That day was a state park excursion (I hit 6) and I passed it on the way to Hontoon Island State Park. Did a U-turn and snapped a few, and I think the panorama shot turned out kinda nice. But you know my motto. You can never have enough pics of something, doncha know. :) -Ebyabe (talk) 23:07, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Cool. But now you can congratualte me, because I just added some images to Orlando (Amtrak station) and Winter Park (Amtrak station). I didn't make the gallery for Orlando yet, but it's on my list of things to do, along with the possibility of adding my other images of DeLand to the commons. ----DanTD (talk) 11:31, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Good on you! I'm surprised the Orlando one's not on the Register; it's old and ornate enough. Oh well. But yay, more photos! :) Btw, I did get the ones in Chipley and Crestview. Didn't get Pensacola's, but did get the old one and the one in DeFuniak Springs. I've uploaded all the Panhandle trip photos, but now have to make galleries in WikiCommons, then add to the articles. Oh joy. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 22:28, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello mate

Thanks for the welcome back words. Hope things are well. IvoShandor (talk) 13:44, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

They are. Took a trip thru the Panhandle over Easter weekend. Three and a half days. Much picture taking was had. One place I think you'd like is DeFuniak Springs. See the many neat photos of Walton County here. The counties I hit were (in travel order): Jackson, Washington, Holmes (couldn't find the one dang place on the Register there), Walton, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Escambia, Bay, Gulf and Franklin. Got about a dozen state parks too, which is another obsession. Oh, and if you want trippy, there's Dinosaur Adventure Land, where Dinosaurs Meet the Bible! Founded by Kent Hovind, he takes creationism to extremes I'd never imagined.
So, look forward to many photos from you. I still haven't got to Florida Southern College, but I will one of these days. Cheers, mate! :) --Ebyabe (talk) 23:19, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Dab on Jackson County Courthouse

Being poorly informed does not make an editor a vandal, but to cite just one example, the change of the NRHP info on entry for the KC Court House is based on the article and section List of Registered Historic Places in Missouri, Counties J-K#Jackson County, and your blanket restoration of the entry in light of the clarity of my differential treatment of the two buildings makes you a reckless editor. You are now better informed, and repetition of such recklessness will be treated as vandalism.
--Jerzyt 06:25, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, i do know. Don't worry over it.
Your're quite right abt the talk page. I started out determined to make an accessible rather than pro forma archive, and .... well, that didn' work. Then i tried a scheme of creating subpages per discussion.... Welll.... Probably a good idea to hack up the backlog fairly mechanically, then put the bot to work. It's been a long time since i seriously thot abt it, so this is my tentative-thanks-in-advance; i think you've given me the needed impetus.
--Jerzyt 21:40, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Good-o. :) We created all those disambig pages in the hopes the articles would get written. But like I mentioned on another talk page, there are tens of thousands of sites on the Register, so it'll take a bit for them to get articles here. I do know whereof I speak, as I stubbed most of the List of Registered Historic Places in Florida. Over a thousand, and to create all those little two sentence or so stubs took me about four months. And that was during a period when I had, shall we say, copious amounts of free time and I could work on them all day and every day during that period. So it's gonna be a looooooooooooooong time before all those redlinks all over the place go away. I am glad, though, that you're actually helping by creating articles too. Do keep doing what you're doing, it all helps, doncha know. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 18:15, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Sumter County Courthouse (Florida)

Hi, I'm looking for an image of Sumter County Courthouse (Florida) and thought you might have one tucked away someplace. Many thanks and best wishes. clariosophic (talk) 03:36, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey. Surprisingly, no I don't. It is on my list, though. You know, the ever-expanding one? :) I took disposable camera pics of sites along the stretch of US 301 from Wildwood to Zephyrhills in late '06. Been meaning to get better ones, and that courthouse too, but hasn't happened yet. I'm planning on going to St. Augustine this weekend and getting lots of photos there, though, if that helps with anything else you're planning. They're having Taste of St. Augustine at the renovated amphitheatre, one of my fave spots there (which needs an article, dang it, and I have photos, but I keep getting sidetracked). So this is the perfect excuse to get those NHLs and other NRHPs there.
Btw, you are really going to town on the Defuniak Springs related stuff. I want to go back there, 'cause there's dozens more buildings I didn't get; I only did the scenic walking tour around the lake. Keep up the good work, and don't hesitate to ask about getting photos. I'm always happy to add to the list... *lol* --Ebyabe (talk) 18:09, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
But made a commons gallery for Walton County Courthouse (Florida) and added to the article here. I know you prolly know already, but just in case, all the courthouse pics are here. --Ebyabe (talk) 18:53, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks again for all your good work. DeFuniak Springs is a real gem, a time warp almost and a place the tourists never see. I wish it were closer and I were more mobile. If you get a chance, you might look at Florida School for the Deaf and Blind in St. Augustine. Both William Augustus Edwards, 1905-1925, and Rudolph Weaver, 1925-1944, are reputed to have designed buildings there, but I don't seem to find any specifics, such as building names and dates. Cornerstones or plaques may help. If I have a date, I can figure out who did it., e.g., 1920 would be Edwards & 1939 would be Weaver. Their buildings may be in the same style as UF, FSU & FAMU (redbrick Collegiate Gothic. Kudos. clariosophic (talk) 21:52, 20 April 2008 (UTC) clariosophic (talk) 22:10, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
You're quite welcome! Yeah, DeFuniak is a treasure. It's right off I-10, and US 90 goes right thru it, too, so it's not like it's out of the way. I talked to the Commerce lady in the Chautauqua Hall, and said how though it's a shame it doesn't get more attention, it's also good b/c it preserves the character of the place. Most of the growth in the area is in Crestview. And after seeing their historic district, I can say I'm truly underwhelmed. Give me DeFuniak or Milton or Bagdad anyday.
I hadn't thought about the school. I've driven by it more than once; it's near the bridge that goes to Vilano Beach. I should be able to add it to the itinerary. :)
And hey, I'm happy to take photos and have other folks write articles to use them. It's not like I've not written more than stubs. I think Fort King turned out OK. But I'm going for quantity, not quality. OK, I kid. :) Off to organize my pictures on Commons better. Which may take a while? ;) --Ebyabe (talk) 00:39, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I really need to get back to Quincy. The town that Coca-Cola and shade tobacco built. :) -Ebyabe (talk) 00:44, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
