Soory to have reverted you[edit]

I am sorry I had to revert your edits on the Comparison of CAD software page. You obviously misinterpreted the CAD meaning of that page, which is exclusivly devoted to technical design and added softwares that did not target that area ( artistic design, FEM, EDA ... ). I first wanted to filter out these software, but checking the different softwares you added it appeared many links to other wikipedia articles were simply broken, or pointed to articles that were not the software. It would have be too much work to filter all that out.

I propose you re study your contribution by filtering only software elligible to that particular page, and by checking all links ( internet, other wiki articles.

I do agree that most of the sofwtare you added are very interesting and should be documented in articles of wikipedia, but that is simply not the right article. I would be glad to help in adding them in the right place, or to create appropriate list or comparison for them.

ps: do not add pre alpha software like blender CAD. it's just far too early as we don't even know if the project will conclude. ( i added a new vertion with the same content as the one previous you last changes. historic is not lost ) --Dwarfpower (talk) 12:44, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IEEE 802.3 edit[edit]

On September 11, 2008 you edited the page IEEE 802.3 with the text

Ethernet II miss the Length field. IEEE defines a 802.3 standard where Type field is replaced by Length, and an 802.2 LLC header follows with the Type field. Most of the frame around are Ethernet II also on 2008.

Two of these three sentences are not gramatically valid sentences in english (the first and last). Do you think you could change them to make them more clear? I would do it myself, but I don't actually understand what the intended meaning was. My best guess is:

- (sentence 1) Ethernet II is a modification of Ethernet DIX which does not have the Length field - (sentence 3) As of 2008, most Ethernet implementations use Ethernet II

But I could be way off.

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view previous uploads by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'file' namespace from the drop down box (or see [1]). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!--OsamaKReply? on my talk page, please 14:00, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Acid3 Epiphany2.26.1.png[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Acid3 Epiphany2.26.1.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:17, 26 September 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 15:17, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Acid3 Firefox3.0.14.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Acid3 Firefox3.0.14.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 15:58, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Object models and application virtual machines[edit]

I don't know what you mean when you ask "can you explain me the difference in object model links you removed and the object model used in "application virtual machines"?" There is no object model, in the sense of COM or CORBA or DCOM or..., in most, if not all, application virtual machines. The Common Language Infrastructure is not an object model in that sense. Guy Harris (talk) 18:53, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can different managed languages, in fact, use objects defined in other managed languages? (Citation needed). Guy Harris (talk) 06:44, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If this is CLI-specific, then the CLI-specific links only belong in the Comparison of application virtual machines page if that page has "supports a common object model for all languages" as an item, and the links for other object models, e.g. CORBA, don't belong there unless there's an application virtual machine that directly implements that object model - and, in both cases, the link would belong in, say, an "object models supported" column, not in "See also". Guy Harris (talk) 01:47, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(Also, the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq and the Caribbean Law Institute aren't particularly relevant to that. If you want a reference to the "CLI" to be a link, use a piped link to the Common Language Infrastructure page, not a link to the dab page. :-)) Guy Harris (talk) 01:49, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Too many irrelevant categories had been added and I was suggesting that we should do a bit of cleaning by removing some of them. Speedy deletion nomination of CopSSH[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on CopSSH requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disambiguation link notification for April 4[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Comparison of screencasting software, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jing (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

IP subnet blocked[edit]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Efa (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

The error say my IP is 2001:4B78:0:0:0:0:0:0/32 that is a whole IPv6 subnet, with millions IP addresses. My IPv6 is 2001:4B78:2006:fea7:0:0:0:1 that is in the same blocked subnet. My IPv4 is 5.144.173.167 Why do you block a whole subnet?

Decline reason:

The IPv6 address range is blocked as a proxy. You'll need to disable your use of a proxy if you wish to edit here. Yamla (talk) 17:25, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

The unblock form: https://utrs.wmflabs.org/index.php does not work as it complaint my IPv4 is not blocked that is true, but the one blocked is the IPv6, and so do not let me proceed with "Submit appeal" button.

Request reason:

the blocked IPv6 subnet includes a proxy on 2001:4B78:2006:fea7:0:0:0:1 but it is my personal (exclusive use) proxy and it is a protected proxy not an open proxy. As now also editing Wikipedia from that IP (running the browser directly on that server) is blocked, not only using it as a proxy. I edit Wikipedia always logged with my account 'efa'. The single IPv6 can be unblocked or can I ask for IP block exemption? Efa (talk) 09:11, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficiently convincing for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. Yamla (talk) 16:13, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That IP belongs to https://www.seeweb.it/, a webhost / colocation host. The instructions for applying for IPBE can be found at Wikipedia:IP_block_exemption#Used_for_anonymous_proxy_editing. SQLQuery me! 13:30, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • 5.144.160.0/20 has not been used by anybody on en.wiki within the last three months. It has never been blocked. If it is yours, why not use that?
  • By 2001:4B78:2006:FEA7:0:0:0:1, you actually mean the whole /64 subnet right? I can tell you with certainty that the assignments are made that way because a long term abuser used Special:Contributions/2001:4B78:1001:0:0:0:0:0/64 and switched addresses within his /64 subnet in eight minutes (from 2001:4B78:1001:0:0:0:0:801 to 2001:4B78:1001:0:0:0:0:1301). The /32 range is not protected as you say because we have exactly two users using it, you and the LTA. No one else at all is using it. With an LTA on that colocation webhost, we are not likely to issue IPBE.
  • I see that you have used two other ranges that have not been mentioned and you used them prior to your proxy being blocked and on July 28. You appear to have access. Why not use these ranges?
     — Berean Hunter (talk) 17:59, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Keep in mind 5.144.160.0/20 is also a hosting range owned by Tunda s.r.l., and will likely wind up blocked for the same reason as seeweb sooner than later. Your best way forward is going to be to follow the directions to request IPBE that I posted above - or use your normal connection instead of a proxy / webhost. SQLQuery me! 18:18, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Web browser when runt on that node server, see two IP (one IPv4 and one IPv6) mounted on eth0, it choose one with some logic I do not know. The same happen for the proxy server. Sure if I remove the IPv6 from the interface I will solve, but I'll lost IPv6 addressing, seems not right to me. Now I'll look to squid documentation if I can force it to bind to IPv4, but this does not solve the situation on long term where IPv6 will be necessary, and doesn't solve for Browsing directly from the server as I don't think Mozilla can be forced to bind to a specific address.
  • my IPv6 mounted on eth0 is 2001:4b78:2006:fea7::1/64 that is a single IP in a subnet of 2^64 addresses. If the abuser used only 2001:4B78:1001::0, in my opinion you should restrict the block to his subnet 2001:4B78:1001::0/64, while now the block is on subnet: 2001:4B78:0:0:0:0:0:0/32 with 2^96 addresses.
  • probably are the IP used when I connect via mobile phone, I had to pay for an amount of data so this should be rare, or from an hotel a week in past half July, or from home also rare. Can you send me those address privately for confirmation?

--Efa (talk) 20:57, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, a per-session change to IPv4 might be had by trying this. If you have Ubuntu, you might try this for a more sticky solution. I don't have those addresses in front of me anymore and would have to check again.
