Feedback on Project Idea

Hi - I love your Egypt idea and I think you have a great opportunity with the page you flagged, Youth activism in which you could add a section on Egypt. This dovetails nicely with your travel study work. Just make sure you have some academic sources - this could be a challenge as the topic is new. But not impossible! A great idea, very doable and interesting!Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 20:33, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

Introducing Myself

Professor Vandegrift, thank you for your feedback! I found a book called, Revolution 2.0 that talks about the youth activism in Egypt during the Revolution. I'm thinking of adding to the article of youth activism since so far it only have the United States. Ellieb281 (talk) 05:09, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Ellie Brown

Hi!

Hey Ellie! Just wanted to say hi and what not here on Wikipedia! I like your topic a lot, Egypt is fascinating. Also, thank you so much for putting up with me in class and all my questions or redundant comments. You're the best! See you tomorrow! -Josh Duden — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jduden (talkcontribs) 02:21, 13 February 2013 (UTC)

Ellie,

You may want to check out these articles, I am not sure if it would be helpful, but it could lead you to some other things :) Egyptian Union of Liberal Youth 2011 Egyptian revolution Melholle (talk) 21:02, 13 February 2013 (UTC)

Welcome

Hi Ellie. Welcome to Wikipedia! I'm an online ambassador for your Global Youth Studies course at Drake. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, chat with us on IRC, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question.

Unless you'll be bringing in other examples outside of the Arab Spring, I think a topic such as Youth activism in Egypt could risk largely duplicating the coverage that already exists at 2011 Egyptian revolution and in sub-articles such as April 6 Youth Movement and Coalition of the Youth of the Revolution. The youth activism article could definitely be expanded to include a more global perspective. Related underdeveloped topics include Youth exclusion (which currently focuses mostly on the MENA region) and waithood (which could be outside of the scope of your class). Nice to meet you!

Thanks for the feedback! This is really helping me decide where to add my article in. I was just curious and was looking over your talk page and was wondering if you are a male or female? Ellieb281 (talk)Ellieb281Ellieb281 (talk)

Feedback on User Page Information

I would recommend creating a link to the articles you are considering working on by using the link button (looks like a chain link) above.

Also, have you seen this link: 2011 Egyptian Revolution. Consider how you will focus on contextualizing Egyptian youth activism in relationship to youth activism as an article. Alternately, you could write an article on "Youth Activism in Egypt" incorporating articles from the 2011 revolution, events after, and historical events before.Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 22:39, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Feedback

Ellie, I really like your ideas with youth activism. I think it would be really cool if you even just added a section to Youth Activism about Egypt. Also you could add a section about youth activism even just to Egypt. I did find another article, 2011 Egyptian Revolution that maybe you would be interested in adding to. Best of luck! Classmate Feedback

Ellie, I think your topic is really well situated to address another issue in the open information community- organization! There is a wealth of information in both the 2011 Egyptian revolution, Timeline of the 2011 Egyptian revolution under Mohamed Morsi (from November 2012), Timeline of the 2011 Egyptian revolution under Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, Timeline of the 2011 Egyptian revolution under Mohamed Morsi, Timeline of the 2011 Egyptian revolution under Hosni Mubarak's rule, and the larger Arab Spring page. How do we recognize the contributions of youth to this process in a way that organizes the overwhelming amount of current information in a meaningful way? I think in a space like Wikipedia, that is just as much of a challenge as anything! Good luck. I'll look forward to the results. KLi 32 (talk) 03:33, 23 February 2013 (UTC)

Time to clean up user page

Hi Ellieb281! As you revise your three paragraph proposal into a more substantive form, it's time also to clean up your user page and archive some of the messages on your talk page. This will make it easier to work with as we go. Thanks!Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 20:35, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
