@DjTakido: Andrew Lopez of Gibraltar United scored an own goal (70) to give Europa Point the lead. S Cumbo scored (87) to tie the game for GibUnited. Report Equineducklings (talk) 01:18, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Club notability

Europa Point FC was deleted by AFD - link here - at a time when they did not participate in the national cup. Has that now changed? If you can provide a reliable source as evidence I suggest you take the matter to WP:DRV.

Regarding the Bundesliga table template, keeping it neutrally named is better so that when the season change you do not have to rename, if that makes sense. The 2014-15 template would be out of date for the 2015-16 season. GiantSnowman 09:13, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

2014–15 Segunda División

Yes, you are right. My changes were only made because of my habits with the old table. I propose you another possibility: ordering teams alphabetically and having them like this.

BTW, great job with these new tables. I'll be waiting for the other sports ones. Asturkian (talk) 21:14, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

@Asturkian: Hopefully you'll find the new module format easier to update, maintain and create. Let me know if you encounter any issues, or if you have any suggestions. Unlike the old template structure, formatting inside the module call does not affect the display, so regular editors should figure out what is easiest for them to edit. Keep up the good work. San Marino

Hi, I am just interested to know where you can see the scores of San Marion matches. The result always takes a long time to appear at Soccerway and other pages I look at. QED237 (talk) 21:01, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

@Qed237: When I edit San Marino scores quickly, it's normally because of Twitter. There are some official and unofficial accounts which give scores. I usually wait until I see two or three scores in case one of them may be wrong (unless it's a reliable official one). Equineducklings (talk) 01:18, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
Okay thanks for the help, it is not easy to follow those matches. QED237 (talk) 10:57, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
@Qed237:That's true. It is hard to find scores for most of the smaller countries' leagues. It is only recently that San Marino scores have been a little easier to find. I think that it's only because it's the end of the season. Earlier in the season, the only way I could edit was to wait for soccerway to update. Equineducklings (talk) 16:49, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

Watchlist

@Qed237: @CRwikiCA: I think this is the best place to ask this. I definitely didn't think I needed to go to the FOOTY talk page. Now that I have been editing for a while, my watchlist is getting longer and I have a question. How do you manage your watchlist to keep it manageable, or if you don't use it, how do you determine which articles to edit and keep an eye on? thanks Equineducklings (talk) 18:45, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

Yes, this is best to take here and not at the football project. I use my watchlist very much to check edits and spot for vandalism, some days that is all I do. I open new tabs in my browser with updated pages and check edits for errors. This is almost my regular day on wikipedia (although I have started doing other things as well some days and it is not good to only edit by watchlist and do a lot of reverts). Anyway my watchlist had about 5000 pages on it about 2 weeks ago (never modified it before), when I made a major cleaning, so now I have about 2000 pages. What I did ws that I click on watchlist and below the watchlist header clicked on "Edit raw watchlist" and removed all IP-userpages, because I had no need to follow those. After that I clicked on "view and edit watchlist" and removed all redlinks (pages that no longer exist) and other userpages with usernames I did not recognized and thought I did not need to follow. This took a long time, but it was worth it and I thought it got my watchlist down enough. Next time I will probably look even more and remove more. Long answer, but hope I helped. Feel free to ask more. Qed237 (talk) 22:11, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
@Qed237: Thanks, as always. You and @CRwikiCA:, among others, have helped a lot. I can't think of other questions now. Soon, I will probably start making sure the new season articles are using the new table format. Equineducklings (talk) 22:41, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
I don't have as long of a watchlist as QED, but I typically remove stuff that are not that susceptible to vandalism. CRwikiCA talk 14:29, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Template

Greetings, You did create {{Fb team Brittania XI}} a while ago, seemingly in mistake. May I recommend you to tag it as {{Db-G7}} so that it can be removed? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 21:59, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

@Jo-Jo Eumerus: Thank you for reminding me. I created it when I first starting editing and didn't know you could move articles/templates. I had forgotten about it. Thanks again. Equineducklings (talk) 22:07, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Notability

@Qed237: @GiantSnowman: I have noticed a couple of AfD discussions recently about team season articles (ex. 2015 B36 Tórshavn season). It makes sense that these articles can not use the Champions League to establish notability because they only participate in the qualifying rounds. Can this standard also be applied to club notability in regards to a national cup? There are many clubs in England, and other countries, which only participate in the qualifying rounds of the national cup (FA cup in England). Should this mean participation in the national cup can not be used to establish club notability? Equineducklings (talk) 15:23, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

You are confusing season notability with team notability. GiantSnowman 20:48, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
@GiantSnowman: I didn't actually confuse the two, but I must not have clearly asked my question. The points brought up in a discussion about season notability made me wonder about something related to club notability, especially after I read the club notability description again. If I think of a better way to phrase it, I may try again. Thanks for your answer. Equineducklings (talk) 20:58, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
OK, sorry if I've mis-read - currently, club notability extends to clubs who have played in the national cup competition (or are eligible to do so), while season notability extends to clubs which play in fully-professional leagues. How do you wish to reconcile the two? GiantSnowman 21:02, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
@GiantSnowman: Hopefully, this wording makes more sense. If a club only plays in qualifying rounds of the Champions League that means the season article is not notable because they didn't play in the competition proper. Is it possible that a club article could not be notable because they have only played in the qualifying rounds of the national cup and not the competition proper (meaning they didn't meet the club notability standard)? Could the club notability section be interpreted that way? Equineducklings (talk) 21:14, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
Ignore playing in the Champions League - season notability is determine (ignoring WP:GNG) by WP:NSEASONS. You simply need to play in a fully-pro league to meet the criteria. Had a team like B36 Tórshavn, which does not play in a FPL, made it through to the CL group stages, then it is likely that the season article would have been notable, but due to GNG not NSEASONS. GiantSnowman 21:22, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
@GiantSnowman: Sounds like I misread the AfD's I looked at and I overemphasized the mentions about the Champions League. Sorry for the time waste, and thanks again. Equineducklings (talk) 21:26, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
No worries, please let me know if you have any other queries, more than happy to help! GiantSnowman 22:25, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

Table positions

Hi, there is currently a discussion that might be of interest to you at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Team positions in team tables, since you have been updating such articles.

Basically it is if we should display teams on same position if they have the same points and tiebreakers, during the tournament and before. For example

Alternative 1: 1) CHI 2) COL; 3) ECU, 4) URU, 5) PAR; 6) VEN; 7) ARG, 8) BOL; 9) BRA; 10) PER. Alternative 2: 1) CHI 1) COL; 1) ECU, 1) URU, 5) PAR; 6) VEN; 7) ARG, 7) BOL; 7) BRA; 7) PER.

The exampel is for Template:2018 FIFA World Cup qualification – CONMEBOL table where 4 of the teams won 2-0 and they have exact same tiebreaker.

So should they all be listed at same position and should we list all teams at same position before any match is played? Please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Team positions in team tables. Qed237 (talk) 13:09, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

@Qed237: I was using the minute-to-minute account for https://twitter.com/FootballGib which is https://twitter.com/FGScoreCentre. I sometimes use https://twitter.com/5point_4 also but not as much. Equineducklings (talk) 19:35, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

2015–16 Gibraltar Premier Cup

@Qed237: When I created the 2015–16 Gibraltar Premier Cup article, it seemed like the specifics of the tournament would be announced within a month. The tournament never happened and the FA never made an official statement about it. Should the article be deleted or should anything else be done? Equineducklings (talk) 21:01, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

Tough question, if you had information that it would be played you did the right thing to create it. However, in the references used in the article I can not see any information about this season tournament so I think it should be deleted. Since you are the only major contributor I think WP:G7 is the best way to go, or contact an administrator (AfD seems unneccesary). Qed237 (talk) 21:23, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
@Qed237: I looked at the references, and I put in the wrong article from that site. The tournament is only referenced in one sentence in the correct article. If I can't find any new information, I will take your advice. Thanks. Equineducklings (talk) 21:30, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
Okay I understand. No problem. Qed237 (talk) 21:35, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

Tiebreakers

Hi again.

When you update league tables, especially when it is the last match, could you please check the tiebreakers? Unfortunately I have seen edits like this, which has been corrected afterwards because you sorted wrong. In this case it was bad because readers thought wrong team had ended in qualification playoff. An other time we put wrong team in relegation spot. Just in case you trust Soccerway, they are often wrong in these cases when head-to-head is used and it takes a week or so for them to chack and correct the tables. In these cases the head-to-head notes are really useful. You are doing a really good job, I just thought I should let you know. Qed237 (talk) 22:36, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

@Qed237: Thanks. I tend to be a little lazy with tiebreakers during the season because they only last a few days, which I should avoid doing. I should be especially careful at the end of the season, though. And, yes, I have noticed that I do rely on soccerway too much with eastern European leagues. I will be more careful.Equineducklings (talk) 23:37, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
That sounds great. I am lazy to with the tiebreaker rules during the season as they are not very important then. But after the last match they are important. Qed237 (talk) 10:15, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

2018–19 European Competitions

@Qed237: I'm not likely to create the 2018-19 Champions League or Europa League, so this is only a question out of curiosity. Why have these not been created yet? It seems like they were created much earlier in the past. Is there a need to wait for the official changes to formats and access lists from UEFA? Or maybe something else? thanks Equineducklings (talk) 00:08, 25 February 2017 (UTC)

Yes, you are right. Since there is a change in format and access list from UEFA we simply dont know how it will look like. As soon as UEFA releases information, I am sure it will be created. Qed237 (talk) 11:49, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
@Qed237: Thanks Equineducklings (talk) 12:12, 25 February 2017 (UTC)

Gibraltar

Hi. I just saw this edit when you changed Template:2016–17 Gibraltar Premier Division table. Do you have any more information? UEFA and soccerway has not made this change and I can not find any information at Gibraltar Football Association. Qed237 (talk) 12:35, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

@Qed237: I do not remember why I first starting looking at the match; maybe a tweet, or maybe I just came across it by accident. Here is the match report from GFA. You can see that they still have the scorers from when the match finished 1-2, but the score has been changed to 0-3. Europa Point had a forfeit a few days later so I assume it was another forfeit, but I can't remember now. The GFA table has been adjusted for it. I'm not sure why UEFA and soccerway have not. Equineducklings (talk) 15:15, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for your explanation. I also noticed that matchreport but no other information and I looked both on their webpage and on their facebook page (I dont have twitter myself). It is a little bit of a mystery. Qed237 (talk) 15:18, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
@Qed237: Although the GFA is still better than some countries, they do not always do a good job releasing the needed information. For example, Europa Point forfeited a game the next week too, and there is an article for that, but not for this one. Or sometimes there is an article for a Rock Cup draw and sometimes not. Equineducklings (talk) 15:57, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
Yes, for being such a small country they are doing a really good job. I just wish there was some information about this as well. Qed237 (talk) 16:07, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

Andorra

@Asturkian: The AFA website is showing that the Segona Divisió is having a playoff between the teams that are not B teams. I am not going to change your edits because I can't find a full explanation of how that playoff is going to work. The first games of the playoffs are this weekend, so we should be able the tell after that. If you see anything before then, the articles could use some reference showing the plan. Thanks. Equineducklings (talk) 22:58, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

Copying

@GiantSnowman: @Qed237: I am not well-versed in the rules of copying, specifically copying from one wiki to another. I know you have to attribute text, but what about tables? The result of this edit is that the table is the exact table from the Spanish version of the article. What should be done? Equineducklings (talk) 21:54, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

New Syntax

SuperJew In the summary of your recent edits regarding the change in formats for goal scorers, you added a link to a conversation about the change. What, do you think, is the best way to keep things you want to be able to reference to help someone know what to do. I frequently end up having to look for things I should have stored somewhere. Equineducklings (talk) 15:30, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

Accessibility

@Walter Görlitz: I will admit I'm not as knowledgeable about accessibility issues as I should be, so I will not disagree with you over the ICC article. May I suggest that if the flag issue is a problem with accessibility, you should start making changes on high traffic articles which have more viewers so you are helping as many people as possible. Thanks for reading this. Equineducklings (talk) 00:47, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

UEFA coefficient

@Qed237: I was going to revert your edit, but thought I would ask about it first. Is the 2018 ranking on Kassies' site not the current ranking? And the 2017 ranking is the one that just ended and is finished? Equineducklings (talk) 13:35, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

2017-18 Gibraltar Second Division

@VampireKilla: I doubt it will be deleted, but it's too early to create this article. There are no sources to confirm the clubs or format for the season. Last season, the official list of participating clubs was not confirmed until September. I have learned that it's not a good idea to create articles until there are sources, and that is true of any article. Equineducklings (talk) 23:03, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Attendance

@Qed237: Houndground has been adding attendance to many articles again. The last time he added a lot I went through his contributions list to remove from a number of articles. I also tried to get a consensus at WT:FOOTY, but with no luck. I don't think I am going to follow him around again to check and maybe remove the tables this time. I wanted to let you know in case you didn't know because I know you have removed some of them before. Equineducklings (talk) 15:17, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

Gibraltar

@VampireKilla: Have you seen anything recently that says the merger of the first and second divisions in Gibraltar is still likely (or certain) to happen? I have been thinking the playoff related information in this season's articles should be removed, particularly from the tables, but I wonder if they may not go through with the merger. Equineducklings (talk) 21:12, 10 May 2019 (UTC)

I've been talking with the chairman of Leo F.C. and he's making full preparations for a single league next season, but there's still some uncertainty over whether or not a play-off will still be played. Clubs are obviously against hit happening as they see no point to it, but I don't have any concrete confirmation either way. VampireKilla (talk) 18:09, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
@VampireKilla: Thanks for the response. Sounds like waiting to make any changes is the right way to go. Equineducklings (talk) 18:17, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
I do have a quick question: The new top flight in Gibraltar is being referred to as a new league entirely called the Gibraltar National League. Should I make a new page for it once it's official as if it's a new league, or just rename the Premier Division page? Because it feels a bit like the SPFL rebranding and that got new pages. VampireKilla (talk) 18:47, 22 May 2019 (UTC)
@GiantSnowman:, I wanted to bring you in on this so I didn't answer inaccurately. Would the new Gibraltar top-tier league mean a new article or should the current article be renamed with information in the article about the name change? Equineducklings (talk) 19:22, 22 May 2019 (UTC)
Right now I'm thinking it should be but either way I'm waiting until the official press release from the Gibraltar FA. If that treats the National League as a new league, then I think it'd need a new article. If they refer to it solely as an expansion of the Premier Division with a new name then yeah, we could just rename it. It shouldn't be long until it's all confirmed anyway, the season ends on Sunday with the 2019 Rock Cup final so they're probably waiting until that's all finished I've seen documents passed around to current member clubs but haven't read it in enough detail yet - there's also word that Hound Dogs have accepted an offer to drop down to the Intermediate League with the U23 sides (but exempt from the age limits) while they try to find investors but again, I'm waiting for official press releases before doing anything.
As an additional note: There has been no mention of a play-off for Lions or whoever will finish 2nd in the Second Division for a while, and nothing on the GFA site's fixtures page suggesting it will happen, so I'm going to err on the side of saying the play-off has been scrapped. VampireKilla (talk) 21:31, 22 May 2019 (UTC)

If it's a new league merging two previous ones, then I suggest that a new article is created, and the previous articles kept separately for historical purposes. GiantSnowman 08:59, 23 May 2019 (UTC)

@GiantSnowman: Thank you. @VampireKilla: New article sounds like the way to go, once there are sources. Equineducklings (talk) 02:26, 24 May 2019 (UTC)

Articles created with no references

@Boleyn: I saw your name when I ended up on the talk page of Jolicnikola. This question is not specifically about that editor but maybe inspired by my (and your?) experiences with the editor. What can be done when an editor continually creates articles with no references even after being reminded repeatedly not to do so? Equineducklings (talk) 22:08, 2 June 2019 (UTC)

It's a tricky one. I've handled it by taking it to WP:ANI - this can be really helpful or not, depending on whether there are responses, but I'd recommend it. You can also approach an uninvolved admin to look at the situation. Articles can also be draftified. Any of these are likely to come with some criticism as people have different ideas on this, but many editors have been blocked for this behaviour at ANI, when they have been warned many times and ignored it. Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 19:20, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
@Boleyn: Thank you for your response. Since it's the time of year when many season articles are created, I will have to think about how I might react if I see season articles being created with no references again. Thanks again. Equineducklings (talk) 01:27, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

Slovak First Football League - Position by round table

Hey, why did you deleted my Position by round table at 2019–20 Slovak First Football League page? Filip289 (talk) 17:37, 18 August 2019 (CEST)

@Filip289: I was editing based on my observations of more experienced and knowledgeable editors. They tend to remove these tables when there is no source showing that these positions by round are valid. I looked at the source you had and it seemed to be a source for the league standings and not for the positions by round. You can, of course, add it back if you want to. I can't tell you not to add it back based on the fact that no one owns an article. I will say that if you do decide to add it back, it may be removed by another editor. Hope I explained myself well. Equineducklings (talk) 16:00, 18 August 2019 (UTC)
Hey, thanks for response. I get your point now but the source is actually the most valid source you can find. Its the official page of the league and you can view positions by round pretty easy. Just click on the "Všetky kolá" (Which translates to All Rounds) near "2019/2020". Filip289 (talk) 10:38, 19 August 2019 (CEST)
@Filip289: If you can get the link to go directly to the "Všetky kolá" page that would be the best option. It would be less likely for another editor to remove the table based on lack of a source. Equineducklings (talk) 19:48, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

Updating a Montenegrin Second League

Could you update a season's article of the Montenegrin Second League with a table and results by every round? Jolicnikola (talk) 22:55, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

You have a official website of FSCG for updating a top scorers and you could update the infobox with a matches, goals, top goalscorers and the highest wins and a highest scoring game.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Jolicnikola (talkcontribs) 22:57, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
@Jolicnikola: Articles are being deleted a lot. As a result, I have not been creating or editing second tier leagues since I do not know how many of them will eventually be deleted. Equineducklings (talk) 01:38, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

Gibraltar women's u19 team

Think you could help argue in favour of keeping the women's under-19 page up? Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gibraltar women's national under-19 football team is where the discussion is. VampireKilla (talk) 17:34, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

@VampireKilla: It is difficult for football articles to survive AfD now. I would like for the article to remain, but I do not think there is an argument that would make that likely to happen. The only chance of keeping the article is finding the right kind of sources to add to the article. Unfortunately, I am not sure they exist. Equineducklings (talk) 01:13, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
