How about an option to not include membership in the wikiproject? One can still like trivia, in fiction, and popular culture sections without wanting to be a wikiproject member... —Eekerz (t) 09:24, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You make a good point. Since I have already made a userbox for the WikiProject you speak of, I suppose removing the link from this userbox would not be a bad idea. What link should replace the "supports their inclusion" link? Without membership in some sort of organization how should one show "support" for a Wikipedia philosophy? I guess my question is, what do you think would be better? I'm open to suggestions, but I'm hesitant to change the userbox when so many already have it on their userpages. --ErgoSumtalktrib 19:11, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm not saying to remove anything but, rather, to simply add a template parameter to not include the Category:WikiProject Popular Culture members (such as "|nocat", "|nonmember", or something). Existing usage would be unaffected. —Eekerz (t) 06:44, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure that is possible. Why not just become a member? You seem to appreciate the project's goals. Aside from that, you could just make your own userbox, its pretty easy. --ErgoSumtalktrib 00:20, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's quite possible, actually. Use a parser function like #ifeq:{{{1}}}|nonmember|[[Category:WikiProject Fiction members]]}}} but I'm not sure if that will work correctly. —Eekerz (t) 05:44, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, well it sounds like you know more about this than I do. Feel free to fix the thing yourself, I have no problem with that. You might want to try it out in the sandbox first, but I'm sure you knew that. If you can get it to work then we will add some instructions to the page to let people know they can opt out of the category. --ErgoSumtalktrib 23:49, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
