2018 Victorian state election

2019 European Parliament election maps

Hi! Could you work out some maps for 2019 European Parliament election in Spain like you did for Results breakdown of the 2014 European Parliament election in Spain and the others? I managed to work out this, but I find difficulties in making maps similar to the ones you made for the 2019 general elections and others (the provincial and the autonomous community). If you could help, that would be appreciated. :) I've uploaded the PNG versions if it is of help to you: provinces, autonomous communities. The parties would be PSOE, PP and PNV (this is the same as in the general election), no Sum Navarre this time around (PSOE wins there this time around as well) and in Catalonia this time it is Together for Catalonia winning all four provinces rather than ERC and PSOE. Italian election maps

Hi Erinthecute, I saw your great job in creating maps for the Italian general elections. When you have time, could you create also the maps for the elections from 1994 until 2018? Thank you so much! A suggestion: in 1994, the electoral law changed, and many small parties entered in the Parliament within the two main coalitions, if you don't want to become mad in indicating all the seats distribution for each parties, you could only insert coalitions' one. -- Nick.mon (talk) 11:05, 7 December 2019 (UTC)

1. @Nick.mon: Thank you! I've actually been working on a map for the 1994 election for a few days (the template of which will of course also apply to the 1996 and 2001 elections). Due to the more complicated nature of both the electoral divisions and the coalitions, I might make a couple different maps, but we'll see how it turns out. Hi. I intervene. Please do not revert and/or start edit warring on this. Also, do not edit controversially without even explaining what you are doing. Unfortunately, I understand it might have taken a lot of time to make the new maps, but they're anything but clear. All colors look the same when the parties are high in the results. I honestly don't understand why would you pick a color palette that has the same color (black) when any of the parties has a large plurality. New Zealand maps

@Schwede66: Thanks! I used the old maps on the election pages, which apparently were originally made in 2004. They don't have much detail but they're sufficient. Honestly though, I don't know where actual information about the boundaries might be - I'm just relying on those maps to be accurate. Erinthecute (talk) 08:01, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Results tables

Hello Erin. You might be interested in a new method of creating election results tables, using {{Election results}}

This is much simpler than usual coding and ensures standardisation of results formats. It automatically adds the party colours (if meta templates exist), calculates percentages and the seat totals. Columns for swing and seat change appear if used, but not if the parameters are unused.

You can see some examples of the possibilities at Template:Election results/testcases, while an explanation of the code is at Template:Election results#How to use this template. Two-round or mixed member parliamentary election tables are not possible yet, but I hope the code will be added in the near future.

If it might be of use for converting articles you're working on, I have created an Excel file that can be used to convert existing tables; if you copy an existing table into it, it will create (most of) the code for the new format (you'll have to do some tweaking if links do not match how party names are displayed. PS, you can add the colour manually if no meta template exists or you want to override an existing meta template. For example, in your sandbox, you could add

|color1={{Austrian People's Party (2017)/meta/color}}

to get the light blue colour for the ÖVP while keeping the link to the article as [[Austrian People's Party]]. You can also use hex colours like #DDDDDD. Cheers, Number 57 00:48, 10 October 2020 (UTC)

This looks fantastic, it seems to cover pretty much everything. I see that mixed-member functionality is in the works, which will make it pretty much perfect. The only thing I'd say it lacks is an option to show turnout swing, and possibly the ability to make additional custom column(s), which might be necessary in edge cases like Proporz elections or annulled rounds (such as in the 2016 Austrian presidential election.)

I'm very interested in using this template wherever possible, though. I'd definitely like to see that Excel file if I could. Erinthecute (talk) 01:21, 10 October 2020 (UTC)

I've just added swing parameters for the valid (validsw), invalid (invalidsw) and turnout (turnoutsw). I initially only did the latter, but it looked a bit odd with just one cell in that column in the bottom section, so I added the others. If you only use turnoutsw, only the bottom row will have an additional column, and if you use invalidsw, only the valid and invalid rows will have the column (it has to work this way as in some tables there is no valid/invalid rows and in others there is no turnout row).

I do plan to look at adding third rounds (as this has happened in other countries) and adding the functionality to edit the text in the header row (so 'First round' and 'Second round' could be changed to 'Original vote' and 'Re-run') or something. What does a Proporz table look like?

Those swing rows are perfect, thank you. Third round functionality is also excellent. As for Proporz elections, see here: 2018 Lower Austrian state election#Results. It would be displayed similarly to the results of simultaneous voting elections, such as in Bolivia and Uruguay, but without the presidential component. It's essentially two bodies being elected with a single vote.

The Excel table is great, although unfortunately I don't think I can apply it to tables I've made because of the way I format them (I spread each party's results across multiple rows of text rather than all on one). In any case it's not a problem, I'm happy to convert them manually. I've happily done things far more tedious before. :p Erinthecute (talk) 01:11, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

Note about 2020 New Zealand general election

Hey there! Just a note about your contributions to 2020 New Zealand general election. Unfortunately, it looks like none of your changes are supported by citations, so they've been reverted. Also, using terms like "Labour took a decisive lead" generally doesn't align with neutral phrasing and the prohibition of weasel/slanting words. Let me know if you have any questions. @Erinthecute: I'm a bit lost as to how an expert quote, winning in "virtually every single electorate", is the same as winning the party vote in all but four electorates - there is no mention of the number of electorates they lost. Similarly, I don't think the Labour Government were praised for their response to the COVID-19 pandemic in New Zealand is the same as Labour took a decisive lead during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ardern's government was widely praised for their response to the pandemic, which successfully reduced the number of active cases to zero in June. Nonetheless, I appreciate your cooperation. Off Wikipedia Question/Note

Hello there. I know this is an extremely unconventional way to reach someone from Reddit, but I cannot access my reddit so I am doing the next best thing.

I am over from the mock election discord server over at r/imaginaryelections. I was inquiring to know if you or the other mod of the subreddit have any plans to sorta recognize the Mock election server as an official part of the subreddit. The guy who runs the server and is an invaluable member of the subreddit (u/Masterpikachu_), claims he sent a modmail to you guys asking for it to be official, but was ignored. We are a vibrant community, and we are constantly evolving. We believe that to make our community an official part of the subreddit, would greatly benefit us, at very little cost to the mod team.
