This week I edited two Chinese movie wiki pages, they are "A Chinese Odyssey" by Stephen Chow, and "Hero" by Yimou Zhang. From this week's editing, I knew that it’s necessary to understand and take seriously the copyright of photos. Week 8 / Sut6777

Hi Professor,

this week I chose to add an image to the Everglades article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everglades. I visited the Everglades a couple of years ago and saw an alligator during one of the Airboat rides. In this process, I learned how to use Wikipedia Commons and how to upload an image to a Wikipedia article.

Overall, my experience with the Wikipedia Extra Credit Assignment has been very positive. If it weren't for this Assignment I would have probably never looked into editing articles on Wikipedia but now that I have edited articles and I greatly enjoyed doing so, I will continue making edits and improvements to Wikipedia articles. I learned how to add citations to articles and how to upload images to Wikipedia commons and then add images to articles. Week 8/ NeverlandAriana

Hi professor, this week eight I edit the article Joey Wong, who is a Hong Kong actress I really like. In this process, I have learned that if you want to insert a new picture to a wiki article, you should first upload the picture through WIKIMEDIA COMMONS and then choose this item to insert in the article. When uploading a picture, we should think about whether this picture has a license under Wikipedia policies.

For the eight weeks Wikipedia extra credit assignments, I have learned a lot in this process. For example, what‘s the definition of source plagiarism in editing Wikipedia articles, and how to avoid this problem. How to find references and add useful citations due to citation requirements is the most important thing I learn. I feel this kind of assignment can inspire students' interest and I have edited many films topic wiki articles, which is a really good experience. Hello, Professor. For week 8, I added a Shanghai Disney's 5th Anniversary Float Show Photo on the Shanghai Disneyland page. I learned how to efficiently paraphrase and useful citations for reference. I think Wikipedia is a very good platform. It is an encyclopedia that summarizes people's knowledge together. And I enjoy looking at the whole picture of a thing or an object rather than just from an academic professional point of view. Week 7 / YC5039

For week 7, I assigned myself 2 aritcles to add a citation. The first article I edited is Final Fantasy XIV, this is one of my favorit mmorpg game. I added a citation about its music, which is one of the reason why I love this game. Its music has touched me so much and through this edit, it let me know how the game narrates the story to the player through music and resonates. However, the Wikipedia page only has very few information and I saw a chat box saying "This article needs additional citations for verification. Please help improve this article by adding citations to reliable sources. Unsourced material may be challenged and removed." In fact, it is extremely hard to find a scholarly resource for this subject and it might be due to the fact that a lot of journal articles are written in Thai, not English.
