Uttar Pradesh article on de Wikipedia

Hi Faizhaider! I had a look at your edit in the German language Wikipedia article on Uttar Pradesh (de:Uttar Pradesh). I guess you used a machine translation tool or something like that. Please don't take it personal but I'd appreciate if you could do without machine translation in the future because those tools often produce nothing but crap - better ask someone who knows some German or even better a native speaker (there are more than enough of us round here ;-)) to translate! Cheers & regards--Young Pioneer (talk) 21:22, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Category- dialects of Hindi and Hindustani =

Why have you created the categories again? They were deleted after a discussion. Maquahuitltalk! 19:47, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

I did not delete them- it was someone else, perhaps Dbachmann or Kgami. The discussion happened on a talk page of either Hindi or Hindustani. The reason for the deletion was that Hindustani has absolutely no dialects and for Hindi, the better term is "Hindi languages" rather than 'dialects of Hindi'. Maquahuitltalk! 06:50, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
I have not lived outside of UP too, except for a few months of my life of 23 years. First of all Hindi and Hindustani are not the same. Secondly, we are not basing the material on the Hindi academicians. The Hindi academicians are boiling with the Hindi-nationalistic frenzy that prevails in India, ending up calling absolutely any language possible as a dialect of Hindi. We have to take a more linguistic and unprejudiced approach here in Wikipedia.
Since you are from UP too, this is food for thought for you- why does khadiboli have 'boli' in its name but braj bhasha has 'bhasha' when in fact khadiboli is considered a language and braj bhasha a dialect? Maquahuitltalk! 08:54, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Sorry for this extremely late reply. You did not pay attention to something which I said earlier, and that is that Hindustani and Hindi are not the same. Hindustani is name used for Khariboli when talked of in a literary sense, as a common basis of the higher level registers of Standard Hindi and Urdu which are the upper level Hindu and Muslim standards. Hindi in the broader sense is a set of languages, belonging to Central Indo-Aryan. Therefore, there is an article called Hindi languages, not anything like 'Dialects of Hindi' because that would imply a sense of "dialects of 'standard Hindi'", and since these two meanings of Hindi are very different, this kind of connection would be (mistakenly) made by usage of phrases like "Dialects of Hindi". Maquahuitltalk! 07:01, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Arey sir didn't I say that Hindustani is the literary form of Khariboli? Anyway, this debate was not just about Khariboli. It was about the category of 'dialects of Hindi' to which I was saying that the word is not justified. Even for non-controversial cases of other Indian languages, at least I have not found any category for dialects and making such a one for controversial case like Hindi is in my view, and in others' view too, not justified. Anyway, forget it now. Maquahuitltalk! 08:55, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
