Hi. Thanks for your work here. I followed your suggestion on the BLP page and removed the negative material from this article. There was nothing left so I tagged it as non-notable. Happy New Year. Steve Dufour (talk) 17:32, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Exterminatus

I initially reverted your blanking and redirect of the page, because it had the appearance of vandalism - having been seemingly redirected to a random sparsely related page, NOT merged as claimed, and with no hint as to where it had supposedly been transwikid to. Since then I have been keeping an eye on your W40K-page edits, and many of them also have these characteristics. Please, if you are going to claim to merge a subpage into what would be considered a parent page: DO SO. Imperial Navy (Warhammer 40,000) I feel would also be far more appropriate location to merge Exterminatus into and redirect to. I suggest you also revise your future edit summaries so others may know where has been deemed appropriate for this content. Southen (talk) 04:25, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

DYK

Updated DYK query On 7 March, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Nødhavn Ved Norskekysten, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

--Daniel Case (talk) 19:01, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Great work on this one! I added the WP:DYK hook to Portal:Norway, and it will be updated into the randomized rotation once there are 2 more WP:DYK hooks to fill out the newest set of 3 (the 19th set). Cirt (talk) 04:31, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

FYI, I hope you don't mind, I came across your great work at User:Falcorian/Hans Gude, and used a quote and source from there for Portal:Norway/Selected quote/12. Cirt (talk) 08:06, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliment, I'm glad to see some of my work spreading around the project! Feel free to use anything on my scratch HFG article, but if you wouldn't merge it in just yet, that's be great. I'm not done writing it, and I'd like it to qualify for DYK as well! Hope to see you around (I'm sure I will since I plan on work on a few more painting articles)! --Falcorian (talk) 09:38, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Of course I wouldn't merge that stuff, though it looks really good, I can see you are still working on it. Do me a favor though and drop me a note when it makes T:DYK successfully, and I'll update Portal:Norway accordingly. Great work! Cirt (talk) 09:41, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks so much for expanding the lead, I think this article is now good enough to also be added to the bio portion of Portal:Norway. Great job! Cirt (talk) 08:48, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

FYI, Portal:Norway/Selected biography/21, you might want to take a look, I used the lede and then shortened it to about 10 lines, I'd prefer to keep it short, but you might want to tweak/summarize it better. Cirt (talk) 22:42, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
I'll take a look! Thanks for the heads up! --Falcorian (talk) 22:54, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for generating great content to use in the portal and elsewhere on the project. In part thanks to some of your work, hopefully the WP:FPORTC discussion will result in the portal getting promoted soon. Cirt (talk) 22:59, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll take a look. Cirt (talk) 05:16, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Link to redirect

Hi - Links to redirects are useful when that redirect will (or should) some day be an article of its own. The author of that new article will already have some input on what other articles should link to that new article. PAR (talk) 03:23, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't believe this is the case for the redirect I removed, which specifically listed it self as an "Also called" of the link a few words back. --Falcorian (talk) 03:53, 14 April 2008 (UTC)\
Yup, I agree. PAR (talk) 05:28, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Portuguese Timor

User Merbabu is trying to erase the infobox included on the article Portuguese Timor. This kind of infobox exists in many other articles in Wikipedia. He is just trying to impose his own view in the article. Is there some action that can be done against it? Emerson

List of paintings by Hans Gude - FA status

Do you know if the current list is an exhaustive list of the paintings by Hans Gude. If so, I was thinking that this article maybe could qualify for Featured List status. What are your thoughts? Remember (talk) 21:31, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I'm certain it is not comprehensive. It currently consists off all the paintings listed by Haverkamp (Haverkamp, Frode; Gude, Hans Fredrik [January 1992]. Hans Gude (in Norwegian). Oslo: Aschehoug. ISBN 8203170722. OCLC 29047091.), but I believe his book is incomplete because I have come across other images online that he does not cover. I don't know of a source though from which to expand it. --Falcorian (talk) 21:51, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Damn. thanks anyway. Remember (talk) 21:52, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Indeed. It's an interest of mine so I'll expand the list as I find sources. However, I'm not sure if it will ever be complete (or how often it will be updated). --Falcorian (talk) 00:40, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Creating geo lists

Hi I've made an intital suggestion at the GEOBOT talk page in that it would be an excellent idea to generate a full lists of places in a tabled list. Once this is accomplished we can work through what articles could be started in their own right if there is enough info avilabale. I see it as a solid comprehensive base to build geo content on if we have a full world list organized like this. See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Geography/Bot#Creating lists. Please offer your thoughts thanks ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 14:25, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Physics participation

You received this message because your were on the old list of WikiProject Physics participants.

On 2008-06-25, the WikiProject Physics participant list was rewritten from scratch as a way to remove all inactive participants, and to facilitate the coordination of WikiProject Physics efforts. The list now contains more information, is easier to browse, is visually more appealing, and will be maintained up to date.

If you still are an active participant of WikiProject Physics, please add yourself to the current list of WikiProject Physics participants. Headbomb {ταλκWP Physics: PotW} 14:57, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Backing up Warhammer Articles

I've read you have the three weapons and vehicles articles for Tau, Necron and Imperium backed up.

There are also a few more articles that need backing up, as they have been nominated for AfD:

  • Space Marine Scouts  Done
  • Adeptus Mechanicus  Done
  • Cult Mechanicus  Done
  • Iron Hands  Done
  • Gene Seed  Done
  • Officio Assassinorum  Done

—Preceding unsigned comment added by AlmondManTwo (talkcontribs) 14:41, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

I saw two of those this morning, I'll get the rest tonight. --Falcorian (talk) 17:12, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

If I may take the opportunity to ask, how do you back up articles? Copy paste? AlmondManTwo (talk) 14:31, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

No, a little better than that... I wrote a script in python that uses Special:Export to export the entire history of the article. I have it hosted here. This allows admins at other wiki's to use Special:Import on the file and import the article and history. Gives you an article on the new wiki that looks like it's always been there. Of course, you need to add a note to the bottom saying you got it from Wikipedia. --Falcorian (talk) 17:12, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks... I cut-and-pasted the other details, but relied on memory for the publisher. Cheers! --Ckatzchatspy 21:51, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Buffalo Treehopper

Thanks for your useful edits to Stictocephala bisonia. I wasn't to pleased to discover that User:Westermarck, had unilaterally moved the article without discussion (or rather, in direct opposition to the only other opinion expressed, that of the article's author: me). You seem to have some experience with science articles. How do you feel about a unilateral move like this? - House of Scandal (talk) 21:07, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately my experience with scientific articles is through Cosmology mainly, I only ran into your article through DYK. That being said, I personally prefer the name the appears in scientific discussion of the subject, rather then the lay-person name (the only time I've ever run into this though was Champagne Supernova (astronomy) vs SN 2003fg). While I would have liked to see some discussion on the subject of the move, I unfortunately think WP:COMMONNAME would support his side in the end. However, if you want to open discussion on the talk page I'll share my views there. Best of luck! --Falcorian (talk) 21:21, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Revert of Buffalo Treehopper

I read through that article twice (well I supposed I must have scanned) and didn't see that sentence about the sonic range. Thanks for the revision and sorry for the trouble. Cheers. --FilmFan69 (talk) 23:52, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

No problem, simple mistake. Welcome to Wikipedia! If you have any sort of questions I'm happy to help! --Falcorian (talk) 23:54, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Warhammer 40,000 transwiki

More WH40K articles have been put up for AFD. The nominator indicated that they are transwiki material, but doesn't have a volunteer. Are you still interested in transwikiing these articles? If not, is there someone else who has the upload rights on the 40K wiki who could do this? Pagrashtak 17:01, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm more than happy to. I'm busier in real life now that I'm out of college, but I can still help out. I'm also an admin on the target wiki, so if people want to help I can promote them there too. I'll check back when I'm off work and see what's up. --Falcorian (talk) 17:36, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Greetings Falcorian! I dropped by to ask you about Wikia and such. I can try to help out with transwiki-ing some of the WH40K stuff and other things (such as White Wolf-related material from Category:World of Darkness and related sub-categories which have similar notability difficulties). I *think* I have an idea of what I'm supposed to do to transfer the edit history and such, but am not an admin (or janitor, or helper, etc) at Wikia. You seem to suggest that you can turn me into such a person that would be able to import edit histories, correct? I have an account under the same user name at Wikia. Could you promote me there, please? You can contact me offline (via e-mail) if it will help with some sort of verification. Thanks. --Craw-daddy | T | 18:30, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
P.S. I would gladly use your Python script to help me out with the transwiki-ing.  :) --Craw-daddy | T | 18:31, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Hello! I'd love to have help, however I'm only a sysop on the 40k Wikia. Wikia is a Wiki hosting service, so each Wiki has it's own sysops. Basically, that means I can't give you a hand with WW stuff, since I have no connections on their Wikia (Assuming one exists, if it doesn't though you could make one!).
That being said, you can do this process (far less elegantly) without sysop on the target (you NEVER need sysop on Wikipedia). It's a little late for me tonight, if you're interested still, hit me up, I'll explain it tomorrow. --Falcorian (talk) 04:26, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Could I trouble you for a transwiki of Timeline of the Warhammer 40,000 universe? Thanks. --Craw-daddy | T | 11:53, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Sure, done. --Falcorian (talk) 14:04, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to trouble you again, but could you help with these articles? I'd do it myself, but I think that it's better (and maybe more useful?) to keep the edit history. (Note: I haven't checked on the current existence, or lack, of articles at the WH40k wikia.) Thanks again! P.S. Is there some process by which I might become a sysop, or "janitor", or whatever, something with the power to do the complete transwiki-ing on that wikia to conserve the edit history of these types of articles. --Craw-daddy | T | 22:54, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Vega importance

In your message on the Vega talk page, you said that, "Importance to top, as vega is the zero point of the magnitude system, without it, we can't do modern astronomey." In actuality this is not true. Vega is now one of several stars that provide that baseline, and one could hardly assert that modern astronomy wouldn't have found a suitable substitute.—RJH (talk) 19:06, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Vega's SED is still the zero point of many systems. And sure, you would use some other method if Vega did not exist, but then that object would have the same importance. --Falcorian (talk) 20:27, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Vega

Greetings,

You state in your comment about making Vega a Top-Top-Importance article, that it "is the zero point" for the magnitude scale. However, this is not true any more, and its apparent magnitude is actually 0.03 (as can be seen in the cartouche in the article itself).

And by the way, it's not "astronomey" but "astronomy"! ;-)

Project activity

File:W40000 Symbol.png

This message is a test to check to see if members of the Warhammer 40K Project are still online, active and interested in helping the project. If you are no longer interested in the project all you need to do is...nothing! If you don't respond to this I'll take your name off the list and you'll never here from us again. If you're the proactive type you can remove the name yourself or talk to me and I'll do it.

If you are still interested in helping out the 40K project or otherwise still want to be listed there you can say so in response to this message on your talk page or on mine. Alternately you can add our new userbox ({{User WikiProject Warhammer 40,000}}) to your userpage and I'll take that as a response. The userpage doesn't automatically include people in a category of members yet, but it might in the future.

We've assessed most of the articles in the project on the Version 1.0 assessment scale (the table on the project page should take a few days to update) but we need to push to get the core articles in the project up to GA status. Thanks for all your help. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help the project along. Protonk (talk) 21:13, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

I'll hang around and transwiki as needed, but not as an official member. I don't feel like contributing to articles that Wikipedia doesn't want. --Falcorian (talk) 22:12, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi Falcorian, as I've said in response to this message on my talk - if you want access to any deleted content for transwiki just drop me a line. I agree it's frustrating to see this content being removed from Wikipedia, but there's no reason it shouldn't be used by others, and you're doing a good job there. the wub "?!" 00:45, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll keep it in mind. I've done it with a few before, but I don't have the energy to go back and figure out what should be moved. If the project wanted to start trying to figure that out though I'd give some input and transwiki that articles as needed. --Falcorian (talk) 01:06, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! Unfortunately, it happens all the time ...

Hi Falcorian, thank you for correcting my little slip in the Jim Croce article (ist → is). This type of thing happens when a German native speaker dares to contribute things in English. Ah, well. --Bernardoni (talk) 19:14, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

John C. Dvorak

Falcorian, thanks for the editing on the John C. Dvorak page. You've beaten me to the punch the last few times that Refridgerator/Tippx has made his edits about Dvoraks's lawn. I'm not a very experienced editor and so it's good to see someone else pick up my slack. I didn't know who to talk to or how far to take it. I want the article to remain relevant, but didn't want to feed the trolls.

If there is anything else I can do to help out, just let me know here or on my talk page. Kermit814 (talk) 02:45, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Just keep reverting, and if you would leave hand written (not template) messages on his talk page asking him to discuss his edits on the article talk page. If he keeps it up (which I suspect he will...) I'll take it up another level, and it will go easier if it's obvious that he's the one violating policy and refusing to discuss it. So, just keep at it, he'll get bored (or banned) eventually. ;-) Best of luck. --Falcorian (talk) 04:18, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

your message

I read your message. Thanks for the information. I should have expressed myself better. I did not revert that edit because that edit came from an unlogged user but because his modification of my edit was not justified based on the accuracy of the detail under attention. Besides that I would like to encourage users who would like to contribute in a regular way to register which would make communication with them to discuss articles much easier. --Grandscribe (talk) 13:52, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
