Ways to improve Patrick Langlois[edit]

Hello, FastCube,

Thanks for creating Patrick Langlois! I edit here too, under the username Girth Summit and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:-

I'm sure you're right about him coming on as a sub in that game, but the source doesn't actually support that - it mentions him, but just says he's yet to make his A-league debut. Can you get another source to show he appeared in that game? Cheers

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Girth Summit}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

A tag has been placed on Category:2018–19 Y-League season by team requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Disambiguation link notification for April 27[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited James Delianov, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Macedonia (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:12, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of National Premier Leagues information for A-League reserves teams[edit]

Hey mate,
I noticed you have removed NPL info for all A-League reserves teams. I was wondering if that was something you did off your own bat or was there a collaborative decision about the removal? If there was, can you please link it to me? We have had many discussions about this on the task force page before when many teams had their NPL and Y-League pages merged. The consensus at the time was to have just that – one page for all Y-League and NPL related information regarding the "A-League Reserves" team. If no such consensus was reached, I would kindly ask you revert your edits until such a time. —Thanks Eccy89 (talk) 12:06, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alex, nice to meet you. Thanks for getting involved.
I will refer you to an archived consensus on the issue from three years ago when the mergers happened. Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Australia task force/Archive 3#Discussion on "Youth" vs. "NPL" teams and their articles
It appears that Melbourne City FC popped up again after this (or was never merged). Again I would be happy to go with consensus (i.e. to split the articles into two) but it appears you just deleted well resourced information from one page and didn't actually put it elsewhere. The links you sent me are clear redirects back to the reserves page, in which case all the NPL information has been deleted. Please fix this for all clubs. e.g. Sydney FC NPL and Sydney FC Reserves are redirects to the same page. —Eccy89 (talk) 10:38, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Articles moved to drafts[edit]

Two articles you recently created, 2019–20 Central Coast Mariners FC season and 2019–20 Brisbane Roar FC season, do not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published, and it is likely too soon for the articles to be written, given that the season doesn't start for another 2 months. They need more citations from reliable, independent sources. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your drafts to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can develope the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the articles meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus are ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 10:16, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Answering talk pages[edit]

Hi FastCube,

Please note that it is preferable to answer discussions on talk pages on the same talkpage they were written on, so that all the people in the conversation can see it, and anyone watching the talk page will see the change, not only one user. I have moved your answer to the appropriate page now. Just letting you know for the future. :)

Hello, FastCube. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "2005–06 in Australian soccer".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

NPL/Youth[edit]

Hey Alex, how are you going?
Just to let you know I have added redirects to the NPL pages you created a little while back. As per our discussions of the redundancies created - plus it looks like you have upgraded the other Reserve/Youth pages - it seemed best to keep them as redirects and not delete them. —Eccy89 (talk) 12:39, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Under-25s?[edit]

Hi,

Just curious as to your moving of the Central Coast Mariners Academy page. Was there a discussion about this somewhere? As I understand it there is no “under 25” team and the new title is quite clunky. Of course if there has been a discussion of this somewhere I will refer to that. Scholarship players[edit]

Can you give me a good reason why we are putting "scholarship" to the right of the players name in the squad template? Does it really matter if he is a scholarship player or not? What difference does it make? Simione001 (talk) 14:26, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Simione001: It is not a full-senior deal and is different in the make-up of the squad and salary cap. --SuperJew (talk) 15:05, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
But why do we feel the need to mention this in squad list? I just dont see why it needs to be there. All the information about the salary cap can be found on the A-League page. Simione001 (talk) 22:54, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
To see what a player's status is. Why do we have captain marked? Why do we have loans marked? You look at the squad and wonder why a 18-year-old is listed in the senior squad, but then you see he's on scholarship contract. --SuperJew (talk) 09:24, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

History of Adelaide United FC (2003–2005)[edit]

Hi, I came across a page you created, History of Adelaide United FC (2003–2005) and I'm a little unsure on the necessity of this page. The page is shorter than the information covering the same period on the club's main article and a two-year spell in the history of a club is really too short to be having a standalone article. I'd suggest starting the History of Adelaide United FC (2005–present) page but including these years as well to make a viable article. Kosack (talk) 08:28, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Even with expansion, how much information can be gathered from two years? Looking at Category:History of association football clubs in England, some clubs have their entire history, often spanning more than a century, in a single article. I think having a general History of Adelaide United FC article would be more than sufficient. Kosack (talk) 11:51, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't create blank categories that are uncategorised[edit]

Hello. It's really important that categories are always categorised themselves, otherwise humans and maintenance bots can't find them - the hierarchy is important, they're not simple metatags. It also helps you identify existing trends in category names - for instance if you'd tried to categorise Category:2019 National Premier Leagues into Category:National Premier Leagues seasons you would have seen that Category:2019 National Premier Leagues season already existed. And just in general, be wary of WP:OVERCATEGORISATION. I know sport editors tend to over do it in general, but a good category has 30-50 members, and a WP:SMALLCAT that will never have more than a couple of members should generally be upmerged. Cheers. Four Questions post[edit]

Do I have your permission to split your Four Questions post into different Sections, as they are separate topics, some of which will be continuation of discussion in Sections immediately above? This would allow for separate discussion on these Questions, which will likely have different people contributing and at different times. Matilda Maniac (talk) 23:54, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Matilda Maniac: Yes. Understood. Look, what I am I supposed to do? I get bored editing older season articles to revamp them and create new player articles. That's I all I do that none of you want to revert on me. I'm creating as many articles as possible that makes sense, since there is SO MUCH more details that are missing in Australian soccer articles. When I think I made a mistake, I go back and re-edit whatever I'm editing. Like to me, I did seem like it was pointless splitting the navboxes between men and women. So I put them back together. I don't get annoyed of things that you tell me. I do understand your points, but I disagree to an extent. So something would need to be discussed.
--FastCube (talk) 01:27, 26 October 2019 (UTC)FastCube[reply]
And the talk page is there for discussions :) Regarding missing details, also remember this is an online encyclopedia, and not a sports almanac or a stats website. So some things which might seem important to you (who I take are quite a diehard fan ;) ), won't be important to the casual reader. --SuperJew (talk) 18:47, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also BTW, regarding revamping older season articles, it would be very appreciated if you could work to have them better referenced (not saying you add unreferenced information, but that the a lot of the old articles are missing references which they should have :) ) --SuperJew (talk) 18:51, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@SuperJew: I'm trying my best to do that. --FastCube (talk)FastCube
The purpose of Wikipedia is not to have editors "creating as many articles as possible that makes sense" as Wikipedia is not a statistical collection; this information itself must have notability (see WP:NOTSTATS). I suggest that you also browse through some of the history of how we got to where we are now, in terms of previous discussions and consensus reached for the Australian football/soccer pages, which do differ from the consensus those of other countries and other language Wikis (e.g. Americans counting assists, germans naming youth teams as "II', south americans collating red cards everywhere, naming conventions for surnames, [wikipedia in other langueages]). Note WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS - just because its done for EPL on Wikipedia, doesn't mean it should be replicated to the same standard or detail for the Gawler U14 Girls competition.
It is true that there are many details that are not yet captured, and some of them - deemed the most important or useful - have already been flagged at the Project Page of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Australia task force which you joined 9 days ago. There is a comprehensive to-do list, so maybe some of these you might like to contribute to, to prevent you getting "bored editing". Matilda Maniac (talk) 01:53, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edits at new Grand Final articles[edit]

Hi FastCube : with respect to some edits at 2019 National Premier Leagues Victoria Grand Final and 2018 National Premier Leagues Capital Football Grand Final - that you have made recently - please note that you always need to supply references for Wikipedia, even for items such as weather conditions, and also for items like match statistics. If they are not from verifiable sources, or easily attributable (such as in any of the references quoted for these articles) then they are likely to be removed. Be aware of one of three core content policies of Wikipedia : WP:ORIGINAL. If you have references for the content that I have deleted today at these articles, please reinstate and add references. Cheers, Matilda Maniac (talk) 12:46, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:2019 National Premier Leagues tables requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

This soccer season has already finished, and the tables referred to here are in the article 2019 National Premier Leagues as a hypertext Transclusion from multiple individual Federation Season articles (e.g. 2019 FFSA season or 2019 Football NSW season). Therefore this template should not be used even if it is completed. The transclusion format is so the tables are updated only the once in individual season articles, which automatically populate the NPL overview article, rather than having them updated twice with the same information. For this reason also, the development of a similar format for next season (2020) may be challenged once the 2020 individual Federation Season articles are created.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". There are still avenues to challenge this if you so desire, and perhaps the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Australia task force is one of them. Hello, FastCube

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username SportingFlyer and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, History of Western United FC (2017–present), for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|SportingFlyer}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

@SportingFlyer: Excuse me?! I'm not new to Wikipedia. I know how to edit Australian soccer on Wikipedia. I joined here two years ago and started immediately on association football. Apart from that, I can definitely think on improving the article, but I'm just focused on other A-League clubs and their missing links. --FastCube (talk) 12:28, 8 November 2019 (UTC)FastCube[reply]
@FastCube: Sorry - there's a backlog over at the new page review which is how I found the page, there's an automated template to help PROD the pages and that's the template it automatically places on the creator's page, it's not something I wrote myself. I admit the text should be a bit better. That being said tere's no need to have a separate history article for Western United yet, it's a clear WP:REDUNDANTFORK, the main article isn't that long yet and the information should just be included there for now. SportingFlyer T·C 12:56, 8 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
My view is also that the main article isn't that long yet and the information should just be included there for now in the main article's history section (under WP:REDUNDANTFORK and WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Matilda Maniac (talk) 01:10, 9 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Matilda Maniac: I believe that the History of "(A-League Club)" articles, should contain all their history, but in the A-League clubs' normal articles, it should just be a summary, since the article will be as long as the normal history section.
Even if that is right, one can argue WP:TOOSOON may apply. Matilda Maniac (talk) 07:12, 9 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Adelaide United FC–Melbourne Victory FC rivalry, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. Most of the article is unsourced. And while the two teams play one another, and there very well be a rivalry between the two, the current sourcing does not indicate a rivalry between the two, let alone a notable one. The best indication would be that the two were "fierce foes", but that does not mean they have a notable rivalry.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. I can actually agree to have this deleted. This article: List of W-League (Australia) clubs is basically the same as the clubs section in the W-League page. --FastCube (talk) 02:19, 20 December 2019 (UTC)FastCube[reply]

I have restored some of your edits which removed the club performance information in National Soccer League article, rather than remove them to a new article (presumably List of National Soccer League clubs). This is on the basis of taking a single article and creating a fork which moves information into a much smaller side article. I do not see a reason to split the article. And in coming to this talk page, i see that there is also a deletion proposal relating to a very similar issue, which has also been described as creating an unnecessary fork.

The same logic would apply to the List of A-League clubs article, as an equivalent fork off the table in A-League#Clubs, and the recent Performance record of clubs in the W-League article as well. I see the theme of these reverts or proposed deletions is that it may be better to build and expand and strengthen existing articles, rather than split articles into smaller, linked fragments.

One of my focusses for next year is going to be information on the women's teams at the NPL level, which would probably struggle to initially be notable as stand-alone articles, but which would initially be a few paragraphs as a section within the current club articles (which are essentially 100% focussed on the men's teams). Your comments welcomed. Matilda Maniac (talk) 23:33, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@FastCube: I use Twinkle to nominate these for deletion and that's the template it uses to notify you, my apologies, it should probably be changed. Feel free to remove the PROD, but I still think it's a content fork - the only leagues I've checked that have similar pages are the English Premier League and the Bundesliga, and they have far more turnover. Notice

The article Performance record of clubs in the W-League has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Undersourced, duplicative WP:CONTENTFORK.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Inclusion of Asian Champions League links at Templates for Australian Soccer[edit]

I have reverted one of your edits at Template:2019–20 in Australian soccer. I noted in my edit summary that "there is no such thing as an official soccer pyramid, and participation by Australian teams in the ACL is an important part of the Year_in_Australian_soccer". I also note that the teams competing in ther ACL are all Level 1, and that the Levels format was created by you last year. I think a much better solution would be to add a list section below League competitions and above Cup competitions to a separate list for International competitions, and both the Mens ACL and Womens AFCCC would go there. What are your thoughts? Matilda Maniac (talk) 23:25, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:National Premier Leagues Grand Finals requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

Hey, Just looking at your planned edits to this page, they look pretty substantial... maybe better to discuss on the talk page first or on the project page before pressing on? E.g. why remove cap number? Macosal (talk) 03:19, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

We already do have the List of Australian international association football caps, which show the cap numbers for the Socceroos, the normal players article (List of Australia international soccer players, is just targeting towards notable players of how many caps (appearances). I also split them (1 cap, 2–3 caps, 4–9 caps, 10+ caps), because there are quite a lot of internationals with a low amount of appearances for Australia.
Also, the cap numbers don't really mean anything with how many caps players have, so let's just keep the cap numbers in "this page". I'm also gonna be including specific references for each player, because there is still not much clear data in Australian international soccer and it need to be verified this way.

Interesting points - I’m not proposing to discuss this here. These are big changes (some have already been reverted) and I think worth raising before committing too much time. Macosal (talk) 12:50, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Australia U21[edit]

Hi, I just noticed your creation of Australia national under-21 soccer team. I'm disagree this, as Australia does not have a U21 team, but only the Olyroos (U23), Joeys (U17) and Young Socceroos (U20). The single source given (WorldFootball) is not considered a particularly reliable source. Also, the games you've listed are reported as being played by different age teams by other sources (e.g. U23s vs Netherlands in 2000, U20s vs Netherlands in 2013). Just thought I'd explain this here before PRODding the article or turning it into a redirect - let me know any thoughts. Macosal (talk) 13:23, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Right, thanks for clarifying that. I thought these ARE different teams, but I guess not. --FastCube (talk) 14:00, 10 September 2020 (UTC)FastCube[reply]
Understandable, as the age classification does vary a bit. Seems like most likely these games were against other nations U21 teams and so got recorded that way. Macosal (talk) 14:05, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Australia national soccer team results (1922–1949) question[edit]

May I ask why you changed it back to what it was originally as I was trying to have the article in a way so that it feel like the Wales national football team results 1876–1899 page which is in a table based format and not the matchbox format that we see in most of the results articles. Not just that but I linked the reference to the match thread which would the opponent info also being held there.

Also why did you remove most of the lead as once again I was trying to improve upon the article but instead it's now a basic one sentence line. HawkAussie (talk) 01:01, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So many others have match boxes, which is what it's for. The table format looks a lot more ugly and it doesn't have the opponent's goalscorers either. I just don't think this should be formatted in a table form, because many others do it in match boxes which look more cleaner. Additionally, we don't really need to add specific references except for the general ones, because we can just add them in the "Report" section.
I also reckon that the season pages for Australia should be removed, because they don't play in seasons. They just play random games and competitions for whatever year, so they are not classified as seasons.

--FastCube (talk) 04:52, 18 September 2020 (UTC)FastCube[reply]

Let me ask you this then, what if someone wanted to try and get the Feature List of the Australia national football results. What then as I am sure the people that view the article won't like that and could easily reject it. I do though agree on the seasonal articles as they ain't really seasons. HawkAussie (talk) 07:00, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If that was a thing, the results pages would be useless. But on the topic of the results pages, match boxes have a nicer design and they are used for these kind of articles. My goal since the start of the year was to tidy all the international and club soccer pages, so this is what I'm attempting here. --FastCube (talk) 02:58, 19 September 2020 (UTC)FastCube[reply]
No that is a lie you have not cleaned up all of the international pages, you only done a selected few. Also just because match boxes are "nicer" doesn't not mean it's useful as this feels like WP:ILIKEIT territory. HawkAussie (talk) 01:02, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what to tell you anymore. There are actually so many results articles with match-boxes like England, France, Spain. It might be easier to read that way or maybe they'll see the score a lot simplier. Look, I really do think they should stay in match box form. --FastCube (talk) 08:45, 21 September 2020 (UTC)FastCube[reply]
The reason that most of the results articles have these match-boxes is because it's familiar in other areas like the domestic continental leagues and the international tournaments. So of course natural progression would go into the national team articles and the result sections. Add to that, I got reverted by @SuperJew: with the seasonal results not being well seasonal. HawkAussie (talk) 09:00, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure how the discussion between displaying the seasons per year or per decade is relevant to the discussion of if to use matchboxes or tables. I do agree with FastCube though and think the matchbox display is preferable. --SuperJew (talk) 12:32, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Chelsea striker Bethany England scoring the winning goal in the team's 2-1 win against Arsenal at the 2019–20 FA Women's League Cup, February 29, 2020.

Hello WOSO editors!

What a year to be alive. As usual (but perhaps even moreso since there have been unexpected quarantines), there has been a lot of activity on player, team, league and tournament-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of women's football / soccer. Great work!

Fall Focus: FA WSL articles

You may have noticed lots of great things going on for the top English league this year: the FA WSL. More (international!) broadcasts, top international player signings, improved media coverage, and increased viewership. Let's keep the momentum brewing, shall we?

Here's a sampling of articles that could use creation, expansion or updating. What will you commit to working on?

Historical Topics
Managers
Teams
Players
Other

See also Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Women's football task force/Initiatives/FA WSL to collaborate and organize with other editors.

Every little bit helps! Thanks for your contributions!

Did you know...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in two currently active women's leagues)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

FYI, when you edited Template:Infobox football country season here, you set the women's top division to be label14, which meant it didn't show because the header was header14. This was easily fixed by changed the women's top division parameter to label15, but in future, please can you be more careful when making large edits to templates like this? Date Ranges for 'Years' in Australian Soccer articles[edit]

Hi FastCube : these articles - such as 2017–18 in Australian soccer and 2020–21 in Australian soccer - cover the date ranges of July through to June, and it would appear to have been set up that way specifically as the A-League and W-League were "summer" competitions, which also makes it consistent with equivalent countries in the northern hemisphere (e.g. 2017–18 in English football). The Finals Series for the National Premier Leagues generally occur in September/October, and it is just that Finals Series that is being displayed in these articles. This Finals Series is a separate competition, that didn't exist until recently. Whereas the NPL Seasons for each Member Federation are "winter" competitions, and thus straddle two of these July-to-June financial years, the Finals Series occurs in the latter of the two. Therefore the edits that you have made to move the information on the Finals Series into the previous year are not correct. If it was correct, then the information on the FFA Cup would also have to be moved back to the previous year, as the Preliminary rounds commence in the previous July-to-June financial year period. This is the rationale for the reverting of the multiple data-moving edits that you have made during recent days. You may want to look at how this also relates to the other new sections for State club winners that you have created, in terms of whether the most correct year for those predominantly "winter" competitions is being captured. These new sectons should probably be called Federation club winners, or Member Federation club winners, rather than State. Matilda Maniac (talk) 22:48, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally, please be more constructive with your edit summaries, as your have made these changes without providing any details - such as removing the whole section on the National Premier Leagues in 2020–21 in Australian soccer - which is not how editing is supposed to be done. 2020–21 Y-League[edit]

Hi

Just letting you know I've started the WP:PROD process for 2020–21 Y-League. The competition didn't get close to kicking off, and there is little/no coverage of even the cancellation itself. As an alternative, we could replace with a redirect to Y-League, as has been done in similar cases (e.g., 2020 Laver Cup)? Macosal (talk) 08:19, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

After I finished it, I went crazy into researching more and didn't get anything out of it. A redirect would be better for this. --FastCube (talk) 12:07, 6 July 2021 (UTC)FastCube[reply]
I think deletion is more appropriate than a redirect - there cant be that many links to this article at this point. Matilda Maniac (talk) 12:18, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

re: Australia national soccer team all-time record[edit]

Your comments on your edit for Australia national soccer team all-time record that state, For the person that deleted this, their excuse was "it's too confusing". I don't understand why the performance by competition section can be so confusing when it's simple and clear shows that you didn't even bother reading the talk page, as suggested, and nor have you given consideration to the complexity of keeping that page updated after each fixture. The fact that you have added comprehensive notes shows that it is, in fact, not straight forward data.

After you previously made a range of changes to that page, it meant that every time the national team played a game, a minimum of 56 changes were required on that page, 56! Just for one game, including un-necessary calculations of percentages. Plus the changes required on every other page after each match. Add to this the fact that the primary information is maintained and updated elsewhere, it is just duplication.

As the person who has ensured the data on that page is accurate and predominantly maintained it over the last few years, I am confirming for you just how challenging you have made it with your excessive stats. In fact, after a game in June 2021, you updated some, but not all of the stats, hence leaving it inaccurate. If you want to insist on creating excessive stats, good luck keeping it up to date and accurate. Clifton9 (talk) 00:34, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, some of the matches are duplicates. Like I see Wed 27/Mar 2019 vs Moreland Zebras, in two competitions (West and East). Unexplained edits introduced many syntax errors[edit]

Edits like this one introduced many syntax errors into articles. Since you didn't provide an edit summary, they look like vandalism. I'm going to assume good faith that you had a plan but failed to execute it properly, and that you are willing to fix them. The affected articles are currently listed on this page, with "invoke:navboxes" in the right-hand column.

Another editor who works on these errors may come along and revert your edits in the meantime. If you re-do them, please check the "Page information" page afterwards to ensure that you did not cause any Lint errors. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:52, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

January 2024[edit]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:53, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article List of Australia men's international soccer players (2–3 caps) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I have combined all Australian football players into the one page, this page is now redundant

Also:

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for April 2[edit]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2008–09 Adelaide United FC (W-League) season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Leah Robinson.

I am considering the WP:PROD process for a deletion of this article, as the WP:CSD process was not the correct method, but essentially the same reasons as were proposed 10 April 2024 : Redundant article since all information is shown on the 2023–24 A-League Women article and isn't consistent with previous finals series. Adding @SuperJew: as another editor of this article; also note I have added a comment on the article Talk page prior to realising that a failed WP:CSD process had occurred. Adding @SuperJew: as the other major editor of this article. Matilda Maniac (talk) 23:45, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
wouldn't call myself a major editor. Anyways I don't have stock in it either way. -- SuperJew (talk) 10:14, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
