FPC discussion[edit]

This page has been started to review, discuss, and propose changes to the current closure process of Wikipedia Featured picture candidates. The need for this discussion has arisen following complaints and suggestions raised at the FPC talk page in May 2009. This time I believe we are getting somewhere and would appreciate your participation. Alvesgaspar (talk) 22:57, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FYI - possible copyvio of your work[edit]

Don't know if you added it on Facebook but one of your pics is there and doesn't appear to be attributed to you. Aboutmovies (talk) 21:05, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • haha, thanks. I actually saw that earlier as I happen to be a member of the group and was surprised they were using my photo as the profile pic. I'm not really going after copyright violators at the moment, as I have better things to do with my time. Thats not even the best use I found... In my school newspaper (of which I am the photo editor) someone put that picture into a layout attributing it to "en.wikipedia". Little did they know they were violating the copyrights of someone in the class. I mentioned that they could just attribute it like they do any of the photos I specifically take for the newspaper. ;) -Fcb981(talk:contribs) 21:33, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

discussion on Commons[edit]

Hi Eric,
in case you hadn't been aware that there is a heavy discussion about your licensing template going on on Commons[1], now you are ;-) --Túrelio (talk) 21:19, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: File:Rhododendron 1 Fcb981.JPG[edit]

File:Rhododendron 1 Fcb981.JPG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Rhododendron 1 Fcb981.JPG. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Rhododendron 1 Fcb981.JPG]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 16:54, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

hi there[edit]

About two years ago you were told never do it again, and you promised you will not, you even apologized. That episode would have been enough for a mature and reasonable person to know that it never should be repeated. Apparently you are none of the above. So for you only the second reminder. Please never do it again. And now enjoy:

    * Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?'
'That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,' said the Cat.
'I don't much care where —' said Alice.
'Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat

*'But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
'Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: 'we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.'
'How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
'You must be,' said the Cat, 'or you wouldn't have come here.

Possible commons licence abuse[edit]

I saw your Spool of string.jpg image featured in India's MINT newspaper (Hindustan Times group) this morning. The only credit is "Wikimedia Commons". You can see the picture on the Mint Lounge website at http://www.livemint.com/2011/06/09213703/Identify-the-clich%C3%A9-from-the-o.html. On the website, the credit is barely legible. I understand that the commons licence requests that the author be acknowledged by name. The Mint Lounge editor's email is priya@r.livemint.com. All the best Magnusmagnussen (talk) 03:32, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'll send them an email. Thanks for noticing and dropping me a note, and with the editor's email no less! Much appreciated, Best, Eric -Fcb981(talk:contribs) 03:04, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Soy sause display.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Soy sause display.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 06:47, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
