Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy the encyclopedia and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the simplified ruleset. There are thousands of ways to get help on Wikipedia, and I personally recommend the Wikipedia:Boot_Camp, where you can even chat online with fellow Wikipedians willing to help! In addition, Wikipedia also has thousands of pages dedicated to the use of Wikipedia, for example, if you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. Also, feel free to post them on my user talk page - I'm happy to answer any questions you have.

Help

Remember, the links above are always good, but if you still need help try these:

Additional tips

Here are some extra tips to help you get around in Wikipedia:

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. If your keyboard doesn't have tildes (or for whatever reason) you can also click the button on the bar above the editing section.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.

Current open tasks

You can help improve the articles listed below! This list updates frequently, so check back here for more tasks to try. (See Wikipedia:Maintenance or the Task Center for further information.)

Help counter systemic bias by creating new articles on important women.

Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School

Hey FenderTele, welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for helping revert the vandalism on the Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School article. Your anti-vandal help is very much appreciated. :) Cheers, Sarah 06:20, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on MDMSA, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you feel that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Kinu t/c 05:53, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Copyright problems with Image:Jasonsingh.jpg

An image that you uploaded, Image:Jasonsingh.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Kinu t/c 04:42, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Copyright violations

Hey FenderTele, please be very careful when you write articles that you have written all the text yourself. Wikipedia operates under the GFDL licence and we can't accept any material that you have not written yourself. I just rewrote some sentences in your Taxiride album articles because they seemed to have been copied from other websites. Copyright is a very serious issue here and it can result in people being blocked and banned. Thanks, Sarah 05:44, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

The userboxes you have been adding to User:Mjongen are totally inappropriate and so I have deleted the entire page. Please don't make edits to other people's user pages. Sarah 12:28, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Sarah, I thought I had deleted the comments about Mr. Jongen being a left-wing communist'''''₣έñĐёṝṭεɭĖ''''' 22:05, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I didn't see this reply until now. I deleted Mr Jongen's userpage which was a bunch of seven edits that were made between 11:00am-1:30pm on 15 May by you or someone using your account. They added userboxes, including boxes about his alleged sexuality and such as well as one that said he was "a deceased librarian". If it was not you who made the edits, then someone else must have gained access to your account. Perhaps you should consider changing your password? Especially if yours is something that might be easily guessed. And also, if you edit from school or the library or any public/shared computer, be careful that you log out when you finish, because admins will hold you accountable for edits made by your account. Sarah 12:27, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Sorry about that, I suspect the latter because the edits were made during school.'''''₣έñĐёṝṭεɭĖ''''' 05:50, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Tim Wild/Sean McLeod

Does anybody hve any information about these two artists?'''''₣έñĐёṝṭεɭĖ''''' 22:26, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks...

...for the heads up. I reinstated JNee's block. And I'll keep an eye on Aussie llama and Tomispro. Thanks again. Take care, Sarah 12:27, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

I also suggest you keep an eye on IP adresses 139.168.x.x, because they are responsible for vandalism about me. I suspect a certain student from my school.'''''₣έñĐёṝṭεɭĖ''''' 05:50, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
