WCBS FM changes[edit]

I kwept the airstaff lineup but took down the management stuff. The Logo is the Classic vershion of the CBS FM logo it is slightly diffrent then the curent logo. If you want to get rid of a logo get rid on the 2004-2005 yellow a blue logo. The Q104.3 page has DJ lineup and management. I also took down the jack rateings someone had posted

WCBS DJ Times[edit]

The the DJ shifs are not listed on WCBS FM.com why not have the times on the page?

Stevie afd[edit]

Hello, please note that when you click on this afd it goes to the next one on the list. I think you need to do the template on the article. Good luck! Renee 01:18, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Forgot to add the template.--Fightingirish 01:23, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alright then[edit]

Yes, it just seemed like a collection of links to me. Perhaps you should create them after there's a need, or when creating them there should be some content... the lack of content was what really made it stick out to me. However, I'll ignore them, if you actually do plan on filling them with content. Sorry for any perceived offense.James SugronoContributions 08:22, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More radio empty pages[edit]

I can eventually see the purpose of years in radio but you really need to add at least something to make it legitimate. You can't argue if you create empty pages if they are tagged for speedy ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 08:40, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If however you plan on adding details asap please use the under construction tag so other editors know your intentions thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 08:41, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to thank you for your comments on the talk page for KSL (radio). You worded your argument very well and covered all the guidelines necessary. It's good to see another well-written editor working on the WP:WPRS project, especially in terms of content, as I'm more of a structure-type editor. Keep up the good work! JPG-GR 18:21, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, you posted your response to JPG-GR on his user page instead of his talk page. You should move your response to the right page. Never mind, you fixed it. -- HiEv 18:44, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"In Radio"[edit]

I noticed your "In Radio" links, via a warning placed on a anon's talk page. This is a REALLY cool idea. I added the relaunch (after three years) of "B94" in Pittsburgh, PA on the 2007. Are you doing just notable changes or format flips for all radio stations? I would love to help out, either way, as I work on ALOT of the radio stations in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC. Please let me know if I can be of assistance. Take Care....NeutralHomer T:C 03:27, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don and Mike[edit]

Advertising[edit]

Hey, I get it. You're really into this, I'm a noob who apparently stepped on your toes. I don't want to fight, and I respect the considerable work you've done here.

However, considering the nature of the wiki, I do feel the need to state my case, and I hope you're open to considering it.

The two things that make WMYX unique in Milwaukee are their marquee programming feature (The No Repeat Nine To Five Workday) and their cash contest (Phrase That Pays). Not all radio stations do that. All radio stations do things _like_ that.

My thought is that every radio station entry should include their programming features and promotional concepts, not in a way that markets them to the reader, but in a way that describes them (reporting the news, not sensationalizing or spinning it).

That's all I'm going for.

It's no different than the FOX Broadcasting Co entry displaying a current program lineup and list of previous and current network slogans. It's not encouraging me to watch, it's just an accurate description of what they're doing.

If all radio station entries were like WMYX is now, they would have a vague history and format description. Radio stations are more than that, and deserve something more.

IMHO. Thanks for listening. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.131.26.176 (talk) 03:30, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not a very nice tone in that first paragraph. You're being rude.
The advertising slogans you mentioned are not very unique. There's at least a station in every single market that does both. And for many, many years, too. Not very original.
It's no different than the FOX Broadcasting Co entry displaying a current program lineup and list of previous and current network slogans. It's not encouraging me to watch, it's just an accurate description of what they're doing.
Apples and oranges. And slogans are encouraged. The stuff you added was cruft.
If all radio station entries were like WMYX is now, they would have a vague history and format description. Radio stations are more than that, and deserve something more.
You should take a look at other radio articles. In addition, check out the Radio Project. In addition, I suggest you also register, lest someone assume that your very first edits were vandalism.--Fightingirish 05:03, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
First edits were not vandalism, they were my kids. Just because I do not wish to create an account does not make me an intentional vandal, or less of a citizen here.
Please do not mistake my tone, which came out of humility and respect. I'm not sure how much more clear I can make myself. I am a noob. I resepect your work. Because I disagree with you does not make my tone rude. Let's put emotion aside so we can deal with the philosophy of these types of entries please.
Reporting a station's programming lineup, marquee features, even promotional concepts, should be a part of every station entry. It's what gives a station its identity beyond a simple, bland format description and history. Furthermore, each station should have its own Marketing and Promotion segment, just like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_dew.
As a radio guy yourself, certainly you can see the value in describing a radio station more fully. Every radio station in every market does not have identical features. The Cleveland market is much different from the Milwaukee market is much different than New York City.
In fact, that's a great idea for an entry: Radio station promotional concepts. Collectively, radio has been responsible for a number of memorable stunts, events, and tactics that should be cateloged.—72.131.26.176 21:30, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Nice job on creating base articles for the public radio station redirects. Just one request if you don't mind — could you please tag the talk pages too? Mlaffs (talk) 21:09, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've been adding them as I go along. Can't do everything at once! :b --Fightingirish (talk) 21:16, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your changes to the station pages of Allegheny Mountain Radio, as well as the Allegheny Mountain Radio page itself. Like any radio network, the stations of Allegheny Mountain Radio have no local programming and broadcast everything that Allegheny Mountain Radio plays, which is broadcast out of WVMR-AM in Frost, West Virginia. Yeah, you could consider the stations "local studios" because any studio can be used to broadcast over the whole network, but no one station "breaks away" for individual programming. Kinda like your K-Love stations, just REALLY small. Your work was good work, not saying it wasn't, but it just isn't necessary and under the rules of WP:WPRS the stations themselves, as they broadcast the Allegheny Mountain Radio network aren't notable by themselves. Again, good work. :) - NeutralhomerTalk • 13:12, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have been going through many of the non-commercial radio networks to break up various pages and set up individual articles for each station. Too many main pages have gotten cluttered and confusing. I've been doing it with many other networks of larger, similar size or smaller (and AMR IS a network, consisting of full-power stations licensed by the FCC -- and full-power stations are usually notable enough to merit their own articles). There is a difference between these and the K-Love 'stations', which are mostly low-power translators (which do not get their own articles). Perhaps this is something that can be discussed on the radio stations project page.--Fightingirish (talk) 13:39, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am open for discussion on this. I should note that AMR isn't an NPR network as they carry very little, if any, NPR programming outside of The Writer's Almanac and WCPE's classic programming (carried by stations nationwide as "Great Classical Music") I am not sure if they even carry NPR news to be honest with ya. So, they are really just a radio network, not a "non-commercial radio network" or a "National Public Radio member networks" (or station) as categoried. - NeutralhomerTalk • 14:06, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh and to clarify, I am not saying that non-commerical stations are not notable, I am saying that since they are part of a network of stations and don't carry their own individual programming they are not notable. If they were independent of the network, they would be immediately notable. - NeutralhomerTalk • 14:08, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I put most of my rebuttals on the Project talk page. And any station that carries any NPR programming (even if the only show they carry is World Cafe or whatever), it is an NPR affiliate. I've merely been going down the whole list of NPR-affiliated networks. And yes, I do consider APR, which consists of five stations, to be a network. All five stations are full-power and licensed by the FCC, which in itself makes them individually notable (as per the Project).--Fightingirish (talk) 14:32, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not to step into the middle of the conversation, but I have a feeling that the two of you are going to get along pretty well once we get to the other side of this debate. Just saying...
Also, Fightingirish, I'm just a bit tickled that we both decided to take a crack at NPR at the exact same time. In my case, it's adding the NPR member station category to articles, while more and more of those articles that I would have considered missing are appearing as you build out the networks. I love collaboration, even when it's unintentional! If you're up for it, you're more than welcome to update the standing list of missing/redirected articles at User:Mlaffs/Missing_U.S._radio_station_articles as you go. If not, don't worry — your additions will get removed from that page by me or someone else eventually. Mlaffs (talk) 14:53, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
@Irish: That part about NPR I didn't know about, so fault placed on me there.
@Mlaffs: I responded in full to everyone at the WP:WPRS discussion.
@All: I am heading off to bed (haven't gone to sleep yet), so I will catch up when I wake up. Have a good day, all. :) - NeutralhomerTalk • 15:37, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WMRA[edit]

This is kinda like the AMR thing above, WMRA is the umbrella page for WMRY Charlottesville, WMRL Lexington, WMLU Farmville and W233AA Winchester, along with WMRA Harrisonburg. WMRY and WMRL carry WMRA programming solely and ID as "WMRA", nothing else. They are just rebroadcasters. It is possible that they might have had histories before WMRA, but I don't think so. It is worth asking User:Dravecky about, along with the AMR stations. - NeutralhomerTalk • 15:36, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the WMRY and WMRL pages redirect to WMRA (or they did last I checked). - NeutralhomerTalk • 15:37, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have noticed you have created pages for the translators of WMRA, along with WVTF and WWVT. While this is awesome, I have to beg of you to please, please, please, please make sure you update all links in the radio station market templates. That means if you create an article for WVTR (FM), you have to switch "WVTF" for "WVTR (FM)" in the Southwest VA Radio template. Same goes for the rest. - NeutralhomerTalk • 15:58, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have been updating the infoboxes the best I can. Can't do everything at once. And I have been breaking up most of the rebroadcaster pages, for simplification and because we're dealing with full-power licensed stations, most of them in Arbitron-rated markets. Some of these pages have gotten pretty cluttered and messy.--Fightingirish (talk) 16:05, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, how about we do this. While I get a soda, give me a list of what stations you are doing in Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland (my watch area) and I will update the market templates accordingly. It will save you a crapload of work. - NeutralhomerTalk • 16:23, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know, I haven't done Maryland. Went through and did the WMRA station's local templates. Did WV as well. I did whatever templates were on the articles, and I may have missed a few. Been trying to get them as soon as I could.--Fightingirish (talk) 16:29, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, no problem. I will do a run-through on Virginia and give a second look-see. Fresh eyes, don't hurt. :) - NeutralhomerTalk • 16:42, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

licensed to vs. located in or broadcasting to[edit]

In a number of recently created articles you incorrectly identify the place where the radio station is located as the licensee. Please be more careful. olderwiser 18:01, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Easy now! On those articles I merely copied the information verbatim from the Michigan Radio page to the individual articles. Hey, we all make mistakes, right? That's why Wikipedia is collaborative, right?--Fightingirish (talk) 18:15, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
All I'm saying is to be more careful. There was in fact nothing in the Michigan Radio article before your edits that said the stations were licensed to the locality. Besides, there is the same pattern of error in other articles you've recently created as well. olderwiser 20:33, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see what you're talking about. I don't consider that an error. Perhaps you just don't understand. But if you really want to go through and 'correct' every article I've done, then be my guest. Until then, keep the snottiness and holier-than-thou attitude off my talk page.--Fightingirish (talk) 22:05, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And typically, a city of license may not be exactly where a station and/or its transmitter is located. That is why I phrase it the way I do. I figure anyone with half a brain can see the distinction between a city and an entity.--Fightingirish (talk) 22:26, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It seems a rather confusing and careless use of pronouns. Many readers are not native speakers. Saying that a station is licensed to X, certainly sounds like X is the licensee for the station. For those unfamiliar with American radio, it is not immediately obvious that a municipality is unlikely to be the license holder for a radio station. Certainly there is a way to be both clear and accurate. olderwiser 02:12, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Pardon the intrusion but this is why I usually say that a station is "licensed to serve the community of Auburn, Alabama" and then later that "the broadcast license is held by the Acme Radio Corporation, Inc." Eliminating ambiguity can be fun! - Dravecky (talk) 17:16, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of KKSF (disambiguation)[edit]

The article KKSF (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

An unnecessary disambiguation per WP:TWODABS. A hatnote does the trick.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Tavix (talk) 20:59, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
