Speedy deletion of Free Legal Advice Centres[edit]

A tag has been placed on Free Legal Advice Centres requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. FLAC - some suggestions[edit]

Hi,

Glad to see you're working on the article.

I've just done a bit myself, to hopefully give you ideas.

Some thoughts;

Notability is an issue. See WP:NOTABLE. You need some references to external, reliable documentation regarding the org. This could be newspapers, books, whatever - the more the better.

I took the ref out of the header - they're generally not necessary in the header, and also having loads of refs to the orgs own website won't help credibility. Any contentious facts need to be backed up with refs to good sources. Things like "it was a threat by FLAC to withdraw these services which forced the government to take action on civil legal aid" will not be acceptable, unless backed up by proof.

The language in general needs more work, to maintain the neutral point of view.

The history bit is starting to look good - it needs to be interesting but totally unbiased.

I've added a few links to ward off that complaint that the article was orphoned - again, hopefully giving you ideas, like the pro bono publico thing.

I think you should consider improving/creating other articles for WP to help back it up, too. Specifically, look like one on the Pringle report is needed, also the legal advice and Attorney's fee need work.

Whilst building the article, bear in mind that it's live. Therefore, even whilst you're working on it, it's likely to run into problems with things like lack of references. I would suggest a 2-stage approach; first, to create an 'acceptable' full article - not necessarily comprehensive, but one that will stand, and then later to work on a really great article in a personal sandbox area before adding it in.

One mroe thing - a logo would really help, if one is freely available to get online. Pics are always good. A pic of a clinic or somesuch would be great too. It breaks the text and brightens the article.

Most important thing is, beware of any text that sounds promotional. Spam is so frowned upon - I know this is NGO, but it's still likely to run into problems if it looks anything like an advert. Concentrate on a factual article, and try hard to back things with those refs.

Another ref / ideas[edit]

I've found what I think will be a good ref for you;

I don't know which bit(s) you want to ref with it, but I suggest you reference it as the book itself, rather than the website. This will add credibility.

Actually - I will add the ref now, to part of the history. Feel free to move it or whatever, I just think that, as you're new to this, it might be easier if I show you how to code good refs? Hope this isn't patronising. You can then look how I did it, and maybe use the same syntax/style for your own additions later.

I've used the

{{cite}}

template. That's by no means the only way to do refs, but I find it a useful method. It might seem a lot of hassle to get all that info, but it's worth it. Note that I use

<ref name="social">

which means if you refer to the same book elsewhere in the article, you just put

<ref name="social"></ref>

and it adds another footnote number to it.

Couple more things;

I suggest that the cases you've mentioned go into a section of their own. Note that the head - the first para - shouldn't contain any info that isn't elaborated on elsewhere in the article.

Also, I suggest a section that paraphrases the following legal bumph from the website (with links if poss to companies house or whatever);

FLAC (Free Legal Advice Centres Ltd) is a company limited by guarantee, not having a share capital. It is registered in Dublin, Ireland (Company Reg. No. 49413). It is recognised by the Revenue Commissioners for charitable purposes (CHY No. 6097). FLAC is an independent law centre under the terms of the Solicitors Acts 1954-2002 (Independent Law Centres) Regulations 2006, SI 103/2006.

Lydia Foy[edit]

Hi,

I've just created a substantial article all about Lydia Foy. After editing 'your' article, I got interested in the topic, realised the wealth of references out there about it, and thought it merited an article. I thought it'd be a quick job but it's actually been a lot of work! That's not to say it's any good of course. I'd really appreciate it if you'd have a good look at it, see what you think, change anything that needs changing.

Having that well-referenced article might well help your case for notability re. flac too. I'd suggest you might have a section titled Lydia Foy, with a quick precis of the main article, and a {{main:Lydia Foy}} tag in it.
