  • Software Wikia is a wiki specialised on software using semantic extras. If a nice article does not have the required Wikipedia:Notability, simply export it and ask an admin for an import there.

CSS, HTML, and stuff like that[edit]

I noticed your questions on the reference desk. If you would like to learn this kind of stuff, I'm a big fan of Head First HTML. There's a sample chapter link on that page to show you their approach. I guarantee that you'll learn all kinds of stuff, if this is the kind of thing you want to learn. --- OtherDave (talk) 04:08, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(No, I have no connection to them, but I do work in the training / learning field, and as offbeat as their material may seem, it's deeply rooted in sound learning practice.)

Notability of L4RGE[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on L4RGE, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because L4RGE is an article about a certain website, blog, forum, or other web content that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting L4RGE, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 09:40, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:L4rgelogo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:L4rgelogo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:10, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One notice would be enough. I really don't need two. I may be a bit thick but I can usually get it the first time. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 21:44, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, humour/humor don't come across that well and neither does the fact that the image was being used. I had forgotten that if you use [[:image:Firefox problem.JPG]] then you get a link to the image but the image page doesn't show where it's being used. You need to drop the leading colon and add 20px to keep it nice and small.

Nathaniel N. Davis[edit]

Why do you say that someone that is a CEO/President of a private company is a notable person? There is no evidence of the company size or stature in Google. In addition, there is nothing about the person in Google.

:/ I guess you're right. He's not notable at all. I just saw the word "CEO" and assumed he had some importance in life. flaminglawyercneverforget 18:43, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, you may have noticed that I have been mass removing instances of your image ChristmasTree.jpg. I have been doing some digging, and it is blatant that you did not make the image, or at least derived it from a source that you did not specify, did not attribute, and wrongly licensed. Do you have any explanation? neuro(talk) 17:08, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure thing, makes sense. :) neuro(talk) 10:58, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and by the way, here are some suggestions for pictures in the absence of that one (not a terribly big fan of the new one):

Account Creation Tool[edit]

Thank you for applying to access the account creation tool. Unfortunately I was unable to process your request. The ACC tool is a powerful program, and at the present time your account is either too new for us to determine whether you would know how to properly use the tool or that you have not attained the necessary level of trust to be granted access. Please don't take this personally and feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Prodego talk 02:01, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A question[edit]

How come you link to User:CheeseDreams, User:-Ril-, and User:Account created to post on Reference Desk in your signature? --Dylan620 Contribs Sign! 01:21, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll echo Dylan's query. If there isn't a response, I'll have to bump the issue over to the Administrators' Noticeboard. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 21:13, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

<copied from Dylan's talk, which was posted before Ten's notice>
I link(ed) to those users in my sig because they got blocked, but they were good users (except for the fact that they're indef-blocked) and I linked to them so they wouldn't be forgotten (hence the words "never forget" that linked to them). If you've seen any of my recent posts, however, you'll see that I have discontinued my links to CheeseDreams and Account created [...] Reference Desk. I have continued linking to -Ril- because he shared an interest with me: He got banned for having his signature set to ~~~~ , which had links to his name. Well, that's actually just one of many reasons he got blocked... But anyway, I also had that signature, but someone told me to stop and pointed at -ril- as an example. I stopped immediately. -ril-, on the other hand, didn't. He kept on going for a while, then (when he was told to stop for like the 50th time) he stopped - but changed his signature to read "Victim of signature fascism." I admired this boldness, and his interest in the same signature as me, and so I link to him still today. flaminglawyerc 02:49, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merry Christmas![edit]

Merry Christmas!
Flaming, here's hoping you're having a wonderful Christmas, and here's also hoping that all your family and friends are well. Lets all hope that the year coming will be a good one! If we've had disputes in the past, I hold no grudges, especially at such a time as this. If you don't know I am, I apologise, feel free to remove this from your page.
Come and say hi, I won't bite, I swear! It could even be good for me, you know - I'm feeling a little down at the moment with all of these snowmen giving me the cold shoulder :(

Merry Christmas to you too! Burner0718 JibbaJabba! 05:19, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I Saw Your MC2008 template[edit]

Since Christmas has passed, I decided we needed something similar for January- so I made it, here. How'd you get anonimoty to work- I forgot the Special page for that. I you know it, can you tell me, please? Thank you! Resident Mario (talk) 17:22, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think we need one for just generic January. I only do them for 2 holidays out of the year. If you're looking for just a general "have a good day!" message, see Template:GivePie or Template:Cookie or similar. flaminglawyerc 22:08, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[[10]] Done. You're right, it's not for greetings, an oversight on my part (oops). Actually, I intended it to be a friendly banner for use on a User page. It's not only for January, though. I planned to update it monthly- it's called "2009", after all!.

PS:Why'd you stick a vandal's account into your sig?Resident Mario (talk) 19:27, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

-Ril- was a sock, not a vandal. For reasons on why he's in my sig, see the #A question. flaminglawyerc 22:30, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok... You know, you're probably going to get asked this question again a million times... RezMar Yell at me! —Preceding undated comment was added at 18:44, 31 December 2008 (UTC).[reply]

And I'm OK with that, because I already have my response typed up and posted on my talk page (or one of its archives). flaminglawyerc 18:25, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year![edit]

A cat to ease all of your troubles
A cat to ease all of your troubles
Happy New Year!
Hey there, Flaming! Happy new Gregorian year. All the best for the new year, both towards you and your family and friends too. I know that I am the only person lonely enough to be running this thing as the new year is ushered in, but meh, what are you going to do. I like to keep my templated messages in a satisfactorily melancholy tone. ;)

Congratulations to Coren, Wizardman, Vassyana, Carcharoth, Jayvdb, Casliber, Risker, Roger Davies, Cool Hand Luke and Rlevse, who were all appointed to the Arbitration Committee after the ArbCom elections. I am sure I am but a voice of many when I say I trust the aforementioned users to improve the committee, each in their own way, as listed within their respective election statements. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to update the 2009 article, heh.

Best wishes, neuro(talk) 00:47, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for template[edit]

Thanks for creating the Template:Keypresses. It makes really makes keys stand out. rCX (talk) 23:36, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, it's no different than the current Template:Keypress. I just made it able to make more keypress-buttons with one template. But thanks for noticing :) flaminglawyerc 03:25, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
