License tagging for Image:River Roads Mall Concept Drawing 1.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:River Roads Mall Concept Drawing 1.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:09, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Frank, I do not think the section of the article where you use it is encyclopedic content. I agree we should have articles of abandoned malls, but I do not see how a description of the details of the structure helps. I intend to delete the image, and remove that paragraph--please comment on the article talk page. DGG (talk) 05:12, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:River Roads Mall Concept Drawing 1.png[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:River Roads Mall Concept Drawing 1.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:39, 15 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ten Pound Hammer(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 22:39, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:River Roads Logo 5 Bad.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:River Roads Logo 5 Bad.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ten Pound Hammer(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 17:34, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:River Roads Mall Concept Drawing 1.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:River Roads Mall Concept Drawing 1.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Speedy deletion of Patrick Coughlin[edit]

A tag has been placed on Patrick Coughlin, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because while the subject may merit inclusion in Wikipedia, the page lacks insufficient content to evaluate one way or another. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thanks for uploading Image:Trans World Airlines Globe Map Logo 1.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Problem with Image:Harvard_Seal_1.svg[edit]

I think Harvard's logo should reflect the version currently used by official Harvard University communications such as on their website. According to this criteria, Harvard's proper logo should be the plain Veritas shield or the Veritas shield surrounded by a wreath. Also, logos should never be unofficially reproduced.

From the Wikipedia logos page:

Reasonable diligence should be taken to ensure that the logo is accurate and has a high-quality appearance. Common sense says that a logo displayed prominently on the logo owner's own website should be OK to use, because it represents their wishes about how the logo is presented on computer screens at typical screen resolutions. Avoid resizing a logo—try to find one that is a suitable size. Do not use a resized logo if it doesn't look good.

From Harvard's Trademark Program page:

1. Each Harvard department, unit or student group should use the designated shield representing its affiliation with the University. For example, a Harvard College student group can use the Harvard College shield as seen on the http://www.college.harvard.edu/ home page.

2. If a new logo is to be produced, a designated shield may be incorporated into the new design (the shield may not be altered or manipulated in any way but a design may be place around the designated shield). For example, the Harvard Native American Program has created such a logo. See: http://www.ksg.harvard.edu/hunap.

... If options 2 or 3 are chosen, the new logo/design will need to be reviewed by the Trademark Program.

Please also see what I wrote in the Harvard discussion page:

The version of the logo currently shown on the Harvard University wikipedia page is obsolete and is no longer in use in any prominent official instances on Harvard's website. [1] The proper Harvard logo should be, as discussed in item 15 above, either the Veritas shield on its own, or the Veritas shield with the wreath. In addition, the user who uploaded the file (user talk:Frank.trampe) failed to attribute a proper source for the logo, but he seems to imply that he created the seal by himself. The file also lacks a logo tag and proper fair use tag.

I will be removing this seal and reverting it back to the original Veritas shield. Atheros07 (talk) 17:53, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Image deletion?[edit]

Interesting that you repeat "entrust the deletion of my images to me" /"I am perfectly capable of deleting images that I think need to be deleted" when you are not a sysop and don't have the ability to actually delete an image. Am I missing something here?

In Re Image:River Roads Logo Crisp 1.png, the issue was brought up on the IFD page regarding an attribution one way or another of the actual (c) holder, which was not resolved. Claims of "I was granted...", as you know, are verified by the OTRS process. The assumption on logos is that they are not free, unless proven otherwise. And, it is the responsibility of the uploader to provide the proofs, if questioned. Since such proofs have not been given, the question still remains if the image is (c) or not. Given the mall was in existence until 1997, the (c) would continue the normal 20 years (doubtful that anyone had renewed it, as you point out) and would not be PD until 2017. SkierRMH (talk) 06:46, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagger bot[edit]

I believe the one that you may be refering to (not 100% sure) is Betacommandbot, which is currently under much discussion & review right now most recent. If you catch it again, the best place to make note of this would be here. I think it's a fair catch, however, as so many claims of "I was given permission..." (regardless of the actual template/license tag) are spurious, and it's probably a good thing to have these claims either expunged from the page or investigated further. SkierRMH (talk) 17:40, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

all copyrighted logos, etc[edit]

Sorry about the double post... your second question - malls are not excluded or singled out in any way. All (c) logos should be tagged with {{non-free logo}} and a "Fair Use Rationale" added. No "permission" is necessary for the "fair use" of any (c) materials, provided, of course, that they do fall under the criteria of fair use. When these are incorrectly tagged, such as "self" or "creative commons" or the like, the claim of the tag is incorrect & could get Wiki into legal trouble - which is why they're removed with such vehemence. SkierRMH (talk) 17:43, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Image:Trans World Airlines Logo Stripes 1.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is a redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

(c) logos should not be vectors - see WP:Logos[edit]

The WP:Logos guideline says Logos uploaded to Wikipedia must be low resolution and no larger than necessary. This means no vectors. This isn't policy but any deviations should at least be discussed. Also, we already have a similar low-resolution image of Image:Presbyterian Church USA Logo 1.svg at Image:PCUSA.png, which is already used in several articles. I wouldn't have a problem putting this image on Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) if it were discussed first. In fact, I think it was once on that page. As your .svg logo is no longer in use, it will be automatically deleted in about a week by the bots. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 00:54, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, it's a nice image. To the extent that it's original work by you, even if it's partially based on existing work, I thank you for improving Wikipedia. By the way, if this is found to be a non-free image, it will only be allowed to stay up if it's used in an article. Non-free images are not allowed on User pages. If it's cleared as a free image, please upload it to the Wikipedia Commons, they need free artwork of aircraft. If it's not a free image and you did all the plane-body and engineering-diagram work yourself, consider stripping out anything you didn't do and uploading the result there as a generic aircraft diagram. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 15:34, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Banner whose side are you on 3.png[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Banner whose side are you on 3.png.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:28, 10 August 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vicenarian (Said · Done) 20:28, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for File:Disciples of Christ Chalice 1.svg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Disciples of Christ Chalice 1.svg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 23:39, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Bain and Company Logo 1.svg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Bain and Company Logo 1.svg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Non-free rationale for File:Bain and Company Logo 1.svg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Bain and Company Logo 1.svg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Trans World Airlines Globe Map Logo 1.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Trans World Airlines Globe Map Logo 1.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 11:33, 19 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
