Heya Fredddie, saw the changes you made on the toll road page after the few days I took revising it. I'm not totally against the change, but the cities that identified the junction ends are now don't show anymore (while the ones that didn't use a jct code stayed the same). Is their a way to bring them back, which I believe was helpful. Thank you. --WashuOtaku (talk) 23:25, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

That was an unfortunate result to my haste. If you feel the need to revert, go ahead. However, I think we should not use {{Jct}} or {{Roadlink}} in the endpoint columns because 1) they distract from the toll road in question and 2) there are too many instances of Jct as it is because some of the ones at the bottom do not display presently. It would be great if we could implememnt the routelist row templates, but the tolls throw a wrench into that. –Fredddie 23:34, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
I found a workaround for now, but my point about removing Jct in the middle columns stands. –Fredddie 23:48, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for finding the work around. I think the only other option is to simply remove the jct code and write it out like the none highway end points. Yes, toll roads is a special case so a routelist can't truly work. --WashuOtaku (talk) 00:18, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
That doesn't mean we can't emulate it. –Fredddie 00:30, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Well, that is what I did with the NC Highway list, so if that's the better solution I can eventually revise them all. --WashuOtaku (talk) 00:58, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Missing Ohio county route shields

A large number of Ohio state route article refer to county routes that don't correspond to any generic shield at Commons. For example, "Ohio State Route 66" refers to Putnam County routes 26, 171, and 201, none of which have the expected green square shield. Do you have a template for these generic shields, or better yet a bot that can upload them en masse? – Minh Nguyễn 💬 11:29, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

@Mxn: I simply took the green square CR template and deleted the text above and below the number. –Fredddie 15:01, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

The links (e.g. [1]) still work for me, though I get the message that "A Google Maps feature used on this page is changing soon." Try adding '&output=classic' to the URL if it doesn't work for you. --NE2 04:19, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Weird. I'm trying some random links. Some work as expected, some go to the new maps and put our KML address in the search bar. –Fredddie 04:32, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
It appears that whenever there is an en dash in the title, it breaks. I-270 (MO-IL). –Fredddie 04:38, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, MOS enforcers! --NE2 04:53, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
That isn't new. For as long as I can remember, that's been an error on Google. Bing, however, outputs those correctly. TCN7JM 05:09, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Newspapers.com check-in

Hello Fredddie,

You are receiving this message because you have a one-year subscription to Newspapers.com through the Wikipedia Library. This is a brief update, to remind you about that access:

  • Please make sure that you can still log in to your Newspapers.com account. If you are having trouble let me know.
  • Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, to include citations with links on Wikipedia. Links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. Also, keep in mind that part of Newspapers.com is open access via the clipping function. Clippings allow you to identify particular articles, extract them from the original full sheet newspaper, and share them through unique URLs. Wikipedia users who click on a clipping link in your citation list will be able to access that particular article, and the full page of the paper if they come from the clipping, without needing to subscribe to Newspapers.com. For more information about how to use clippings, see http://www.newspapers.com/basics/#h-clips .
  • Do you write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let me know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.

Finally, we would greatly appreciate it if you filled out this short survey. Your input will help us to facilitate this particular partnership, and to discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.

Thank you,

Hello,

I tried to create a Jctint for this road, but I'm having some difficulties.

  1. The final exit of this road is partially on Belgian soil, is there another way of doing it in contrast to how I did it?
  2. The A4 motorway is planned to be extended between interchange Benelux and interchange Klaaswaal (the second yellow gap) After that, the route follows a road that is designated as A29 up to the interchange with A59. Should all of these exits be trans (blue)?

TheWombatGuru (talk) 12:39, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

That looks fine. Another thing you can do is merge A29 into A4. Since you say that A4 will eventually take over A29's route (do you have proof of that?), you can get ahead of it by merging the articles together. –Fredddie 14:40, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
It will only partially take over A29, but will probably not be designated as A4 after the missing link between A29 and the more northern segment of A4 is finished. There is a difference between the road signs like A4 and A29 and their Rijksweg number. That part, the trans part in jctint, is already part of Rijksweg 4, just like all the other parts of A4. And once the missing link has been created (no plans yet), A4 would not have a missing link if you take that part of A29 (which is already part of Rijksweg 4).
In short, if we're talking about A4, A29 is not part of it. If we're talking about Rijksweg 4, A29 is part of it. TheWombatGuru (talk) 17:00, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Re: Lists of highways in counties

Hey Fredddie, haven't thought about it since I haven't tackled any kind of wiki-transformation before, but you may be right. The US 75 example looks more professional and pulled-together, while the Henderson County example is, umm, kinda sloppy in comparison. Awtribute (talk) 17:52, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

It's been so long since my original post, that I had forgotten what it was about. Glad to hear you agree. –Fredddie 23:33, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

The problem is without an AFC header, there's no way to determine the age of old drafts. Technically, Draft:1980 Iowa highway jurisdictional transfer hasn't been edited since April 2014 and there'd be an argument for listing it for MFD as a stale draft (since it's in draftspace and not in your personal userspace or the like) or even under G13 (I wouldn't think all drafts qualify but I've seen admins take that position and delete). If the header was there, it would be dated, marked for G13 when the six month passes and would be periodically reviewed at least that way. I'm presuming that the Roads project has these articles under alert. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 22:49, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

I get that, but I removed the tag because I would never in a million years use AFC for an article that I started. Maybe we can come up with something that keeps track of draft ages and doesn't read like you're forcing established editors to use a process they don't want or need to use. –Fredddie 23:02, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

Can you help me with editing this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Route_20_in_Ohio

I was trying to fix the chart so it shows routes 6 and 175 in the same city (Euclid), but it keeps formatting wrong, and I don't know how to fix it. Cards84664 (talk) 14:29, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

This route is missing a 1948 shield, and there was never one in existence. Can you help?, Because I don't know how to do that :/ Cards84664 (talk) 14:37, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

I created the file, but there was no reason to split that out into its own article, especially when it's a copy/paste job like that. I have redirected that page to the list. –Fredddie 16:15, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

You also mentioned that there was a white version of this shield, right? Where would that go? Cards84664 (talk) 11:50, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
Don't wait for me to give you the OK to use them. I really don't care either way; I simply try to keep the templates from breaking. –Fredddie 21:11, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
I tried to put one in my sandbox (infobox road) But it didn't understand the input, like how it can recognize (type=OH 1927) How would I fix that?, because (type=OH 1920) Didn't work. Cards84664 (talk) 23:03, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
It works now. That's what I do. –Fredddie 00:42, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

Ohio State Route 2D

Found this. Is it legitimate without a map page? http://www.dot.state.oh.us/Divisions/Planning/TechServ/TIM/Documents/SLD/pdf_files/FULSR0002D.pdf

Cards84664 (talk) 11:15, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

Per this, it's the first directional alternate in Fulton County. It is legit, but I personally would not rush to add it. If you look at it on Google StreetView, it is signed as SR 2. –Fredddie 21:37, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

So you are saying I could add a section on the route 2 page about it, upload a 2D shield, and say that it is signed as 2? Cards84664 (talk) 23:33, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

Oh. So I was looking at Google Maps, which one is the alt? At the Southern end of N Fulton, E Elm to SR 108 only has SR 2 Eastbound signage, While on Southbound 108 at E Linfoot Ave to N Fulton to W Elm only has SR 2 Westbound signage.

About the edit you undid in U.S. Route 285

Hi. I noticed you undid one of my edits in U.S. Route 285. Please note, however, that this exit list is only temporary. Once the actual U.S. Route 285 in Colorado article is created (it doesn't exist, you know), that junction list will be transferred. If you don't understand, see what I did here. HeatIsCool (talk) 22:27, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

@HeatIsCool: I understand completely, but I strongly suggest creating a sandbox article in the draftspace or in your userspace rather than putting it in the live article. In fact, TCN7JM and I are creating junction lists for U.S. Highways in South Dakota because there are no state-detail articles in SD. The good news is that your work is not gone forever; you can easily rescue the junction lists from previous diffs when the time and place is right. –Fredddie 22:36, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
I also understand, but I second what Fredddie says and think the junction list is out of place in the US 285 article itself. It's a bit redundant to the junction list section near the bottom of the article and it gives too much attention to the Colorado section of the article. If you plan on eventually expanding that RJL into a complete article, I'd suggest putting it in draftspace and starting Draft:U.S. Route 285 in Colorado. If you plan on creating more RJLs for routes that don't yet have articles, I'd start a subpage in your userspace and put the RJL there. TCN7JM 23:28, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

This is a message from the Wikimedia Foundation. Translations are available.

I wanted to follow-up on an message I sent you in September regarding the need for you to sign a confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 in order to maintain your access from Wikimedia to nonpublic information, and specifically to the OTRS system.

As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees approved a new "Access to nonpublic information policy" on 25 April 2014 after a community consultation. The former policy has remained in place until the new policy could be implemented. That implementation work is now being done, and we are transitioning to the new policy.

An important part of that transition is helping volunteers like you sign the required confidentiality agreement. All Wikimedia volunteers with access to nonpublic information are required to sign this new agreement, and we have prepared some documentation to help you do so.

The Wikimedia Foundation is requiring that anyone with access to nonpublic information sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain their access. You are receiving this message because you have access to nonpublic information by way of the OTRS system and are required to sign the confidentiality agreement under the new policy. If you do not sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015, you will lose your OTRS access.

Signing the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information is conducted and tracked using Legalpad on Phabricator. We have prepared a guide on Meta-Wiki to help you create your Phabricator account and sign the new agreement: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign

If you have any questions or experience any problems while signing the new agreement, please visit this talk page or email me (gvarnum@wikimedia.org). Again, please sign this confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain your access to nonpublic information. If you do not wish to retain this access, please let me know and we will forward your request to the appropriate individuals.

If you wish to stop receiving these notices, you may remove yourself from this list. Please note that doing so will not prevent you from losing OTRS rights and access after the 31 December 2015 deadline.

Thank you,
