Speedy deletion nomination of LACAS[edit]

A tag has been placed on Lahore College Of Arts And Sciences requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hello (1)[edit]

Thanks for contacting me :) You're right - I'm originally from Islamabad and I was adding the school I went to when I was there. Thanks for the wikischools project link. I'll try to get some more content :) Your articles look great and I'm going to use them as inspiration for my school articles :) Garg (talk) 16:54, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good, unfortunately I wont be able to come on wikipedia because my final exams of A Level are going to start from coming wednesday...after that I will become a regular on wiki. Farjad0322 (talk) 9 May 2010

WikiProjects[edit]

Your contributions make me wonder if you might be interested in joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Education in Pakistan, which seems to serve similiar interests as yours. Unfortunately, the project hasn't been kickstarted like a lot of the other Pakistan wikiprojects over here but with increased focus on membership, maybe these projects will be lucky to get standardisation and parameters added on the Template:WP Pakistan when time allows. Mar4d (talk) 15:04, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely, but the problem is that my A Level exams are starting from tommorow and will continue until 10 June. But after the exams I will be more than willing to become a full time contributing member of this project. Farjad0322 (talk) 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Shinee[edit]

Differences in layout are generally not considered vandalism in and of themselves and so differences need to be worked out by consensus.

However, the fact that a particular layout was in place when the GA status was granted is a pretty key factor, and the IP should be providing reasons why the changes should be implemented to improve the experince for the reader. It sounds like you have been doing the right things in not editwarring and attempting to communicate via the IPs talk page and the article talk page. Eventually the IPs unwillingness to discuss can be considered disruptive behavior and either the page can be protected from IP editing WP:RPP or the IP can be blocked.

One step you might take is to ask for a third opinion at: WP:3O. Or to fully gague the community, you could initiate a request for comment WP:RFC and find out what the communities current consensus is for layout on the article. It takes a number of weeks for an RFC to run its course, but the results can be used as evidence for a significant period of time that the changes the IP is attempting to implement are against community consensus and therefore are vandalism.

Let me know if you need more information on how to procede with any of these options, and I will continue to keep an eye on the article. Active Banana (talk) 15:16, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You recently placed a comment here on the article talk page[1]. However, unless you have also placed your comment at the official deletion discussion here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of British pop musicians of the 1930s it is unlikely to be read and considered in the deletion process. Unsourced additions by IPs[edit]

Hello. For all of those unsourced additions repetitively made by IPs, I suggest going straight to using {{uw-unsourced1}} instead of pointing out the issue with an edit summary because IP users are probably very unlikely to read edit summaries or even go to a history page. エムエックスさん 00:59, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Ali Kids Campus[edit]

Hello Farjad0322, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Ali Kids Campus, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Is a plausible, useful redirect or is not a redirect at all. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Theleftorium (talk) 14:04, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there is a notability criteria for schools. Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) is probably the closest. Theleftorium (talk) 14:13, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

List of Korean musicians[edit]

Hi Farjad :) Please take a look at List of Korean musicians - I merged (that is, cut-and-pasted) the contents from the South Korean bands List article there. You can see it when you scroll down. It looks a bit awful now, I know, but at least all is there. Do you have any idea how to make it look a bit cleaner? Best regards, Maashatra11 (talk) 15:55, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Its good. I would like to take it from here. Since names of bands are still present in the solo section, it needs a little work. Thanks! Farjad0322 (talk) 17:22, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I already added them back. Cheers!--Chanaka L (talk) 12:15, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Marine and coastal protected areas, Seems it is not a new category of PAs. However I added the external link. If I found detail on marine and coastal PAs surely I would include them in the article. Cheers--Chanaka L (talk) 01:22, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hey I reordered the temp a bit in the lines yours. Your arrangement is more logical. However I think it is better to keep Birds and mammal articles in the top as they are more popular than amphibian and molluscs. Cheers--Chanaka L (talk) 13:20, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it seems more compact like this. It looks good. Farjad0322 (talk) 02:47, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism warnings[edit]

In the future be aware that content disputes are not vandalism [2] labeling it as such is an assumption of bad faith and can be seen as uncivil. The user didn't blank anything, vandalize anything or anything of the such. They simply re-ordered 1 of the members of the group, which isn't remotely vandalism.--Crossmr (talk) 23:50, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fishing in Pakistan[edit]

Hi Farjad. Generally you done a very good job writing Fishing in Pakistan. However, there is one serious exception: the article contains a lot of material taken from sources which is inadequately paraphrased. These are copyright violations and need to be urgently fixed. If you can afford it, I suggest you subscribe to the plagarism detector Copyscape. This will give you 200 searches for US$10, which should amply cover you for a year, and will also make it easy to check whether you have paraphrased adequately. Otherwise there are free plagiarism detectors on the web, though offhand I don't know of good ones. Anyway, can you please rework your prose until it is no longer in copyright violation. Otherwise the affected areas will need to be removed from the article. Best regards. --Epipelagic (talk) 06:41, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I am completely aware of this. Basically, I have only laid out the general layout and I will start changing the text until there are no copyright violations. It would take up to a week, as I also have to collect free-image use license pictures. Thanks! Farjad0322 (talk) 08:04, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation links in {{Pakistan topics}}[edit]

Hi, I noticed that the {{Pakistan topics}} template links to the disambiguation page Anglo-Afghan War, and thought I'd talk to you about how to resolve it. Anglo-Afghan War is in "Pre-colonial", but isn't only the first Anglo-Afghan War pre-colonial? Seems to me we have two choices: 1) do the WP:INTDABLINK edit similar to what I did for Anglo-Sikh wars, or 2) split out the Anglo-Afghan Wars chronologically. --JaGatalk 13:01, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you are right. I support the second option. But please, can you do it. I suck at history. Farjad0322 (talk|contribs) 13:06, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Zoo article assessment[edit]

Good job! I agree with all four assessments -- uprating Karachi zoo, and adding the other three to the "almost start" list (or "Good Stub" if you prefer). Keep it up! If we can keep upgrading things a bit at a time, eventually we won't have any stubs left (I'm an optimist;-). It's good to have someone else working fairly steadily on zoo articles. Donlammers (talk) 01:20, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I certainly have hopes to remove all stub-class articles form the WikiProject Zoos...but then again, I work on 8 WikiProjects... Farjad0322 (talk|contribs) 08:13, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am currently concentrating on "Major Rivers in Pakistan". I have commented on this article's discussion page, the article needs some references. The article should be renamed to "Rivers in Pakistan". Nabil rais2008 (talk) 20:07, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In this case the article will be deleted, and we can merge this article with the new section as you said. Nabil rais2008 (talk) 20:24, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok the redirect is the best solution for this article. But it needs some references to put along this content to the new section in the article "Geography of Pakistan". Nabil rais2008 (talk) 20:42, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Superior College[edit]

Hello. You seem to have a history of editing articles related to universities and colleges in Pakistan. I was just wondering if there is any article on Wikipedia about the Superior Group of Colleges...they seem to have several campuses throughout Punjab. I first came across the name when I was looking at clips of RDB performing there though can't see any articles about the institution here Mar4d (talk) 00:48, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mar4d! Yes, I have been editing articles about a few educational institutes, mainly schools. I plan to become a member of WP Universities once I enroll into a medical college. There is no article about Superior Group of Colleges currently. I am busy in a lot of other WikiProjects so I can't make it right now, but we can add its name in 'Article requests' section of WP Universities. Meanwhile, I will add its name in List of educational institutions in Lahore. Usually, someone from the Superior College should have made an article about the university. There are other institutes that I am interested in making articles of, namely Shalamar Medical and Dental College. Farjad0322(talk|sign|contribs) 11:29, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Shalamar medical and dental college logo 1.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Shalamar medical and dental college logo 1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Flora of Punjab[edit]

Totally down with a Flora and Fauna of Punjab article, rather than the Flora and Fauna of Lahore. However, it might be nice to start with Flora and Fauna of Pakistan. There are many main articles which need quite a lot of improvement. I think, though, that the non-native flora of Lahore can be sourced and created into a separate article, the gardens, or maybe the cultivation of flowers in general, to include gardens and commerce. Let me know if you would like to start on Flora and Fauna of Pakistan or the Punjab region, and I will help. --Kleopatra (talk) 19:14, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

In the future, if you update logos I have created, I think it would just be easier if you "upload a new version". It saves the trouble of going through the deletion process and the article doesn't need to be edited to match a new name (i.e., less work). I won't be offended. Announcement[edit]

Hello! I'm The Arbiter, one of the coordinators for WikiProject Zoo. I am proud to announce the launch of a new portal: Portal:Zoos and Aquariums! ZooPro, ZooFari, and I worked hard to create a new portal for information on zoos, aquariums, and the associated projects and articles on Wikipedia. If you could head on over, take a look at our work, and maybe learn some more about zoos and Wikiproject Zoo, it would be great! Cheers and Happy Editing!

Climate of Pakistan[edit]

I have combined my articles of Tropical cyclones and tornadoes in Pakistan and List of floods in Pakistan..Even then the Pakistan's climate article is horrible..I think it needs to be re-written..HunterZone (talk) 11:51, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will start helping as soon as I am finished with a biography article which I am creating right now. It will take about 2 hours. We will need to study other good climate articles and create a sandbox in order to re-write climate article for Pakistan. So we should consider reading the articles and listing some main points in the sandbox for today. Real work will start tomorrow. Farjad0322(talk|sign|contribs) 12:04, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lee Taemin[edit]

Hi! Wasn't much to go on; the version I deleted had been tagged as a non-notable biography. It says he's part of a group, but not which one. Anyway, here it is:

Lee Taemin (이태민), born July 18, 1993 (1993-07-18) (age 16), commonly known as Taemin, is the main dancer of the group. He was born and raised in Seoul. He is the youngest member in group. He was discovered at the "2005 S.M. Open Weekend Audition Casting ". Taemin debuted as an actor in the sitcom Taehee-Hyekyo-Jihyun!

At WikiProject Amphibians and Reptiles, in which you are listed as a member, we're working on a pretty massive backlog (1000+ articles!) of unassessed articles. We would appreciate it greatly if you would help assess the articles in the link. It's simple to do!

  1. Read over the article.
  2. On the discussion page, look for the {{AARTalk}} template. Add in a "class" and "importance" parameter if the template does not have them already. Example: {{AARTalk|class= |importance= }}
  3. For the class, fill in the article's quality using the WikiProject's quality scale: stub, start, C, B, GA, A, or FA. Most unassessed articles will probably be stubs or start class articles, and definitely B or lower.
  4. For the importance, fill in the article's importance to the WikiProject using the importance scale: low, mid, high, or top. Most unassessed articles will probably be low or mid importance.
  5. Then you're done!

It's not a difficult task, but there's a lot to get done. Our hope is that we can chip through the backlog and assess every article within the auspices of the project. Thanks, bibliomaniac15 00:31, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Shinee World concert 4.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Shinee World concert 4.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Morning Sunshine (talk) 03:50, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Boards[edit]

Hi there. On Template:Education in Pakistan, I've noticed that although it does contain a list of boards of secondary and intermediate education, there seem to be several missing. For example, the "red link" articles on Abbottabad, Peshawar, Sahiwal etc. were added by me (which I plan to create later on). I think the template currently only has a partial list and should list all other missing ones too. Is there anything on the internet that has a list of all education boards in Pakistan? Would be thankful if you can help with this one. Cheers, Mar4d (talk) 07:52, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Let me get this straight, I can't fix the open proxy thing. Its not the same in every country, especially in Pakistan, where we don't even have electric or water supply for hours. We hardly get some hours for internet. I choose them wisely to contribute at wikipedia for Pakistan-related articles. Our ISPs are just bull shit. Recently, I have been continuously blocked over and over again with this lame open proxy excuse which says that someone from my IP address (but not from my account) did some silly vandal edits and I get pinned down for it. Come on, I HAVE BEEN CONTRIBUTING FOR 3 YEARS NOW. I am an auto-reviewed user... Procsee Bot? How can bots and machines be always right... Unblock me so I can continue making Rising Sun Institute article...

Accept reason:

Since you are a long term editor with a clean block log, I think WP:IPBE will be the only way forward. I will set the flag for you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 16:28, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

IP block exempt[edit]

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 16:35, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Uzma Khan.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Uzma Khan.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 18:59, 13 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Salamat International Campus for Advanced Studies requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of characters in Young Justice (TV series), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Captain Marvel (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). PMDC[edit]

Pakistan Medical and Dental Council was deleted recently over some copyright issues. Since you're interested in medical topics, I thought if I might let you know; just so that you might be interested in creating the article again. Would have started an article myself but I'm a bit busy A.T.M. and probably cannot dedicate time to creating an article right now... Mar4d (talk) 21:21, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Kund park.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Kund park.jpg, which you've attributed to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kund-Park/195302897179098. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:02, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)[edit]

The Wikipedia Library gets Wikipedia editors free access to reliable sources that are behind paywalls. Because you are signed on as a medical editor, I thought you'd want to know about our most recent donation from Cochrane Collaboration.

  • Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization that conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.
  • Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account.
  • If you are still active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Shinee green rain.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Shinee green rain.jpg.

Thank you. Michaela den (talk) 13:17, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Question about (feat. Henry Lau)[edit]

Hello. May I ask you some questions?

Don't Don (song) is not sing by Henry Lau. Henry has not participated in the singing part of that song. He is a guest who participate in Super Junior Don't Don Music Video only. Is it suitable to put Template:Henry Lau into Don't Don (song)?

Henry Lau participates in "Love That I Need" which is one of the song in I Wanna Dance. However, I Wanna Dance is a album page. It is different from the page of Love That I Need (song). Is it suitable to put Template:Henry Lau into I Wanna Dance album page?

Thank you.

Ballad?[edit]

I know two song are a ballad, but there is no existing genre called "ballad". At least be unknown genre instead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 183.171.177.128 (talk) 00:11, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello... Ballad is not a genre in USA or some other countries... But Korean music portal sites like Naver actually consider Ballad as a genre... It is very important that we keep in mind the different cultures as well... Some producers and artists also admit in there interviews that they sing ballad songs... Have you ever heard of Trot music? It is a classical music genre only in Korea... It can't be found in other countries so does that mean it shouldn't exist as a genre, even in Korea at least?... Music is a vast cultural thing and so are music genres... Korean music has K-pop, K-rock, trot, ballad, dance, electronica, R&B and hip hop as its main genres... :) FudgeFury(talk|sign|contribs) 00:55, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I don't care about genres much... After you and others change it, I don't change it back to my preference... :) FudgeFury(talk|sign|contribs) 00:55, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Medical Translation Newsletter
Issue 1, June/July 2014
by CFCF, Doc James

sign up for monthly delivery

This is the first of a series of newsletters for Wikiproject Medicine's Translation Task Force. Our goal is to make all the medical knowledge on Wikipedia available to the world, in the language of your choice.

note: you will not receive future editions of this newsletter unless you *sign up*; you received this version because you identify as a member of WikiProject Medicine

Spotlight - Simplified article translation

Wikiproject Medicine started translating simplified articles in February 2014. We now have 45 simplified articles ready for translation, of which the first on African trypanosomiasis or sleeping sickness has been translated into 46 out of ~100 languages. This list does not include the 33 additional articles that are available in both full and simple versions.

Our goal is to eventually translate 1,000 simplified articles. This includes:

We are looking for subject area leads to both create articles and recruit further editors. We need people with basic medical knowledge who are willing to help out. This includes to write, translate and especially integrate medical articles.

What's happening?

IEG grant
CFCF - "IEG beneficiary" and editor of this newsletter.

I've (CFCF) taken on the role of community organizer for this project, and will be working with this until December. The goals and timeline can be found here, and are focused on getting the project on a firm footing and to enable me to work near full-time over the summer, and part-time during the rest of the year. This means I will be available for questions and ideas, and you can best reach me by mail or on my talk page.

Wikimania 2014

For those going to London in a month's time (or those already nearby) there will be at least one event for all medical editors, on Thursday August 7th. See the event page, which also summarizes medicine-related presentations in the main conference. Please pass the word on to your local medical editors.

Integration progress

There has previously been some resistance against translation into certain languages with strong Wikipedia presence, such as Dutch, Polish, and Swedish.
What was found is that thre is hardly any negative opinion about the the project itself; and any such critique has focused on the ways that articles have being integrated. For an article to be usefully translated into a target-Wiki it needs to be properly Wiki-linked, carry proper citations and use the formatting of the chosen target language as well as being properly proof-read. Certain large Wikis such as the Polish and Dutch Wikis have strong traditions of medical content, with their own editorial system, own templates and different ideas about what constitutes a good medical article. For example, there are not MEDRS (Polish,German,Romanian,Persian) guidelines present on other Wikis, and some Wikis have a stronger background of country-specific content.

  • Swedish
Translation into Swedish has been difficult in part because of the amount of free, high quality sources out there already: patient info, for professionals. The same can be said for English, but has really given us all the more reason to try and create an unbiased and free encyclopedia of medical content. We want Wikipedia to act as an alternative to commercial sources, and preferably a really good one at that.
Through extensive collaborative work and by respecting links and Sweden specific content the last unintegrated Swedish translation went live in May.
  • Dutch
Dutch translation carries with it special difficulties, in part due to the premises in which the Dutch Wikipedia is built upon. There is great respect for what previous editors have created, and deleting or replacing old content can be frowned upon. In spite of this there are success stories: Anafylaxie.
  • Polish
Translation and integration into Polish also comes with its own unique set of challenges. The Polish Wikipedia has long been independent and works very hard to create high quality contentfor Polish audience. Previous translation trouble has lead to use of unique templates with unique formatting, not least among citations. Add to this that the Polish Wikipedia does not allow template redirects and a large body of work is required for each article.
(This is somewhat alleviated by a commissioned Template bot - to be released). - List of articles for integration
  • Arabic
The Arabic Wikipedia community has been informed of the efforts to integrate content through both the general talk-page as well as through one of the major Arabic Wikipedia facebook-groups: مجتمع ويكيبيديا العربي, something that has been heralded with great enthusiasm.
Integration guides

Integration is the next step after any translation. Despite this it is by no means trivial, and it comes with its own hardships and challenges. Previously each new integrator has needed to dive into the fray with little help from previous integrations. Therefore we are creating guides for specific Wikis that make integration simple and straightforward, with guides for specific languages, and for integrating on small Wikis.

Instructions on how to integrate an article may be found here [6]

Disambiguation link notification for October 7[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Red Band Society, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Comatose. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Shinee song deletions[edit]

Hi. I saw your concerns on the Shinee song AFDs, and I totally get where you're coming from. No one likes having articles they penned deleted. I did a lot of research before I nominated the songs, talked to a lot of people who specialize in songs, and also I actually really like Shinee, own several of their CDs. First, while I know it seems that the fact the Katy Perry song has an article should mean Shinee's song deserves one too, it's hard to compare like that. There is a good chance the Katy Perry song shouldn't have an article; just because no one's AFD'd it yet doesn't mean it's meant to be on Wikipedia. Additionally, charting on the American chart requires sales of much, much more product than does charting on Gaon. I've seen songs sell 100 units (yes 100 - in an affluent country of over 50 million) and make it on the Gaon charts. Sales of 800 can get you in the top 20. In the case of Gaon, chart positions are really not always indicative of widespread notability. It's not some kind of rule, but simply something to consider when applying common sense to the rules. But what I really came here to share was what I learned about Wikipedia policy on song articles. I'm doing this not to "prove" I'm right or something; I just don't want you to feel bitter and definitely don't want you to spend time creating content that may get deleted. Since you were civil and honest in your comments on the AFD, you're the kind of editor Wikipedia needs. Anyway, here goes. The very first line of the notability section in the songs policies is this: "Most songs do not merit an article and should redirect to another relevant article, such as for a prominent album or for the artist who wrote or prominently performed the song." So even from just that sentence, you have to re-evaluate whether a non-promo song by Shinee is one of those rare songs that merits an article. Even most singles do not merit an article, though admittedly there are tons of such articles on Wikipedia. Further, song notability is not "inherited", meaning that it is not automatically notable just because it was released by a notable artist. Songs must still pass Wikipedia's general notability guidelines whether they charted or not. Charting is just a possible indicator that a song may be notable. And to define notability according to Wikipedia, it means is that there has been significant discussion about the song (not the album or EP) in reliable, independent sources. Aside from the language barrier, it's hard for me to imagine what Korean sources there could even be that significantly discuss the song specifically and do so in reliable sources independent from SM Entertainment. There are often album reviews that discuss songs; of course that information is relevant for an article, but such a review (again, of the album or EP) does not go toward notability of the song, it goes toward notability of the album or EP. Other than that, what coverage of the song could there be? Inclusions in set lists does not equate notability. The song has to have actually been talked about - not just referenced - by many different reliable sources (quality journalism) that are not related to SM Entertainment.

So, I'm sure this is disappointing, but honestly Shinee has a lot of articles and they can all be improved (as can nearly all articles on Wikipedia). I'd love to see you put your efforts toward that; kpop articles really need a quality boost. Since you're passionate about Shinee, you could go a great job. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Fauji Foundation Hospital, Lahore requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:04, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:HEC alert.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:HEC alert.gif. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Train2104 (t • c) 23:25, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Dream ost.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in Dream (TV series)#Soundtrack. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:27, 28 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
