Wikipedia accessibility
Hello Graham,
- I hope you don't mind me asking, but RexxS suggested that you would be able and willing to give me some first-person feedback on Wikipedia accessibility issues and screen readers. I'm particularly interested in language-related accessibility issues.
- On Wikipedia there seems to be very little awareness or understanding of the need for language-related semantic markup (using templates based on Template:Lang). Virtually nobody marks up foreign languages embedded in the body of English Wikipedia articles, and some users are moving large numbers of articles to titles with diacritics (and with no semantic markup for such titles).
- I'm sure these issues must be a big barrier to using Wikipedia with a screen reader. Any comments that you can find time to provide on this subject would be most welcome. Very best wishes. LittleBen (talk) 17:02, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

Housing edits
Hi Graham,
I recognize your concern that my additions are focused on one country. However, in the Blindness and Deafness articles, you have left the U.S. definition of blindness to stand, as well as the number and percentage of blind persons in the U.S., the U.S. Department of Education's policies regarding deaf children, and the U.S. EPA's noise standards to prevent hearing loss. I am not sure how my additions are different.
Also, I wonder if this issue would not be solved naturally when other users start adding housing information for other countries. Keeping the topic could encourage others to add to it.
More importantly, I would welcome your suggestions on re-writing so that the housing information is included. I believe that this is important information, not only to people in the U.S. so that they can exercise these rights, but perhaps also to people in countries that don't have these rights who might be interested in petitioning their governments to obtain them.

Plural in heading title
Hi, Graham ! Regarding this edit, WP:MSH says "The provisions in Article titles (above) generally apply to section headings" and Article titles (above) says: "The title of an article should be based on the Article titles policy". At WP:SINGULAR, the article titles policy says: "Article titles are generally singular in form". So, based on all of that, I always use singular headings. - Hi Sandy, I didn't think of that before making my edit. I just thought that the heading title souhnded wrong because that section talks about a group of people, of which there is more than one, kinda like the other heading titles in that article ( "Difficulties in relationships", "Gender aspects", and most notably "Autistic adults"). Baku
A interesting wrinkle from when you imported an edit into Baku today. In the one minute when Baku was in the MediaWiki namespace, AvocatoBot (talk · contribs) "fixed" all the now double-redirects, pointing them to MediaWiki talk:Baky. Of course this page disappeared almost immediately, leaving a redirect to a deleted page. Later, Legobot (talk · contribs) helpfully came along and flagged all of these redirects for deletion! See the history of Baki Sahari for an example. I think it's amusing more than anything and I've fixed all the redirects, but I thought I'd bring it to your attention. PROUT tags
Hi, Graham. Thanks for your input on the PROUT article. Regarding the tags, I am somewhat confused. As you know, the tags pertain to an old and rather shabby article that was put up on Wikipedia many years ago. I can understand why we would leave a tag from the Politics portal in place, even though that tag is certainly outdated. Though I have not done it, I believe I may request that the new article be reviewed and the tag reevaluated. But what is the use of prominently displaying a 'nominated for deletion' tag from 2007? If I were to nominate a model page for deletion, would that page need to carry my tag at the top of it forever? It seems to me that once a nomination for deletion fails, any associated tag should be removed (or, at the very least, eventually archived, as I did). Over this last month, the PROUT article was totally rewritten and vastly expanded. As a result, the PROUT page no longer looks anything like the page that was actually nominated for deletion. So, the 'nominated for deletion' tag might have made sense five years ago. It might even have made sense just 2 months ago. - In regards to Epee blanking sections of text which are easily source-able, I think, Graham, that the rule you're looking for is WP:PRESERVE. This has been raised with Epee before on the talk page of another article where he removed content that was found through google in under a minute, on his talkpage, and at ANI.
- In amongst the fawning at ANI noted in the last you will see that the general feeling is that Epee is a hero of the people and that it's my burden to wikistalk him and source all the content that he removes, because WP:PRESERVE and WP:CHALLENGE can be read selectively. - Yep, probably has to be the go as ANI is essentially useless. I've just found another instance as well, at Mohammad Ali (actor), but I'm having issues with WP:BIAS and finding decent sourcces. Hello I have changed the Eucla to a media cite as you stated but apparently the record was 48.2 as seen on the WA Observations page of BOM. - No, that would be the complete data set being read by the servers at the BoM. It takes a few weeks to a few months for it to be ruled as a new record or not (needs to be investigated). Awhile ago I got into the habit of recording my edit counts daily. This morning I noticed that my deleted edit count jumped by one edit, and I was very surprised to find out that the deleted edit was a notice I left on an admin’s talk page.
This is a new one for me – do admin’s regularly permanent-delete messages left on their talk pages by editors?

Representation of pronunciations
I'm involved in an interesting discussion, off wiki [1], about pronunciation of place names and IPA representation of them. Though this is primarily in relations to sat-navs, it also as accessibility implications, as I'm sure you realise.

- I can't figure out how to do that with Audacity 2.0 and the stereo mix device under Windows 7, but it sounds like this: "Reading [as in the pronunciation of the verb], link graphic listen, link i, link slash, link?, link r, link?, link?, link d, link?, link?, link slash, link red ing". JAWS says "link" to indicate where there's a link, and the question marks are where it doesn't recognise an IPA symbol. It's nowhere near as bad as it sounds, because screen reader users can just skim-read the text. There is also a way to set up JAWS to recognise IPA symbols. Graham87 04:35, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

Paralympic edits
Thanks for your kudos on my disability sport edits. I'm horrified at how few Paratriathlon World Champions have pages here - determined to fix that (hence Yannick Bouseaux, and Bill Chaffey (paratriathlete), waiting to be approved for mainspace). Brand new Wikipedia editor - did a dozen or two minor edits under IP, but I've literally only had an account for 3 days. I'll try not to screw up the formatting thing too badly. An interesting set of cases: Arshad Warsi Movies was created November12, 2012. The essentially identical Shooting Star Production Ind Ltd was created December 20, 2012. It would seem reasonable that the later article should have been CSD:A10 speedied as a duplicate of the earlier. But it has developed that the earlier article has an incorrect name and non-searchable name. At Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arshad Warsi Movies I pointed this out and requested that someone with more hist-merge experience perform some non-controversial merging and deleting. French language warning
Hi, you gave me a warning when I added a link to a site on French language because of the false reason it was a spam site, the site I added has always been on Wikipedia and is a pure free site and the first ever online lanuage course. It is a historical site and not a spam site and still many are using that resourse to study even if the site is from 1994. While I can see you allow real spam site like About.com on French language. I really wanna have an explanation please why you gave me a warning because it was a spam site when it is absolutely not a spam site and will never be. About the warned external site
Thank you for your reply where you said it was removed because it is a personal website, I have to follow up on that, that site is not a personal website, it was created as part of the companies Webworqs, Inc and Jump-Gate and in co-operation with International Institute of Information. The site is still not a personal web site and will never be, he made this for an educational project with a staff of employees. And point 11 does not say it is forbidden for personal web pages but shall be limited. I know it is not personal web site since I am part owner of Webworqs, Inc and Jump-Gate. Also that French Language Course shall rather more serve as a archive of a very historical landmark in Internets history since it is the first and only left online language educational site with with audio. Limerick (city)
There is a speedy deletion request on the article Limerick (city). The rationale given for this is: "The type of poem is a more common usage of the term. Hence the article "Limerick" must redirect to "Limerick (poem)" with a hatnote." This rationale is simply wrong as the poetry form derives its name from the city. This has been argued previously and there was no consensus for Limerick redirecting to Limerick (poem). However, I feel that Limerick should redirect to the disambiguation page and the current Limerick article should be called Limerick City.Corcs999 (talk) 21:18, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
Removal of TWo Links to North West Heart Center Page
Good afternoon.
I saw that you decided to remove two links to the Adventist heart center page. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mitral_valve_repair&action=history and also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventist_Medical_Center
AS far as the link to the heart surgery page not being about the procedure, half of the page discusses it. What's more, it is the same type of link as OTHER external links on that wikipedia page (following a precendent).
AS far as being self promotional, I am an adventist in the health care field (mental health) in Albuquerque. When I was told about the new stuff in portland (friend works up there) I wanted to share it. I was only following precedence on those other operation pages/links. .
you also edited the link on the Adventist hospital page. I have undone that with the reason listed. I have not undone your removal of on the mitral valve (even though I feel it should be). Instead I am waiting your reply. If you feel that it is still promotional then I feel you should also remove the external links to Mount Sinai, Brigham, Univeristy of Maryland, and also NYU. Those links are no different than the ones I added. And if you feel that the adventist health system is not on the same par as those institutions I will remove the links for you, citing your precedence as the reason.

Sound file
Hi Graham,
Do you know (or could you find) a sound file of an audience response to an entertainment? For example, are there any files of clapping or applause or other noisy audience reaction to a performance? I want to add such a sound file to the article Entertainment which I am currently trying to get through to GA status. The focus is on the audience - that is, on the people being entertained - rather than on the music or concert itself. There are too many types of music and concerts for one musical example to be representative of this broad topic. What I think would be representative is the audience response. Import Böllhoff
Hello Graham,
I am writing you because of importing the Böllhoff article from the German database, it refers to (Import of de:Böllhoff to Böllhoff).
The article exists (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Böllhoff), it was also created by me for some years. I have an account, but I spoke with somebody of the support team and he told me the easiest way would be the import function, because of the language switch which will be created. If this is not possible, it would be no problem for me to create it as new article in the English database.
Because of the conflict, do you mean because it is an article of the company which I work for? But the article is very neutral without any advertisement character, this was something which I looked for before I created the German version.

Hi Graham, The article that I have been working on (Entertainment), has now been made GA but still has its hat note saying it is a GA nominee. I do not know where the code is for that template. - Thanks Graham! On the subject of this article, I wish that Cape Coast Castle and Slave Castle of Cape Coast could be merged. It seems their talk pages agree. My interest is that I have made a link to the former (which I consider to be the better article) from Entertainment. I don't know whether to edit the text before or after the merge. Either way, I think it would be better if these two were one. They are basically the same thing with a slightly different title. Can you do this? If not, where is the right place to ask? misunderstanding?
The reason I've added Pickuptrucks.com link to Pickup Trucks is because the website gets the latest news on trucks, like, the new models, new features, the best seller, etc., that could be added to articles about or related those trucks.
