Re:Bean-counting

I've sent you an email hopefully, with a longer response, but I'll keep it brief here. I'm sure to give the stages a look at later in the week...a lot of 2011 classifications are going to be altered over three different Tours, and before making a rash move on altering the statistics - I do note that the Catalunya race has been altered already - and I've still get through all the 2012 teams! Only nine left after about 150! January has been busy. But as you said, sad day...Damaging, and likely to rumble on for a while yet, alas. Craig(talk) 21:04, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Farewell

I just read your userpage message, but haven't come across you before. I just wanted to say thanks for your substantial contributions. I follow cycling occasionally, so am sure to refer to your work at some time or another. All the best in your new endeavors. --99of9 (talk) 10:24, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. I still stop by from time to time :) Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 01:42, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Re:Hey

Oh hey there! I've still got the checklist on my page, because I will get around to put them all as a GA. All 23 of them, as I have counted out. It's also a way to see what has been done and what hasn't. About the Europcar thing; I just followed the instructions at GAR, as to why it was on the 2011 page rather than Bbox...my bad! 2011 Giro also went GA as well; meant to send you an email about that...slipped my mind. ;) Craig(talk) 07:39, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

No, it's not your "bad." My preference to have it on the 2010 page is simply that - my preference. I'll definitely get those four I mentioned knocked off in the next few days here. Get them to "Done" on the checklist, at least, because oy that GAN wait is daunting. I might list HTC and/or Garmin for peer review first before FAC - I think those two in particular are that good. Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 09:18, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
Ah right, I misread! Apologies. Yeah, the GAN waiting is quite something; Veranda's and Europcar had both been on that list since December 31 and were only reviewed in March. That said, when they were all done pretty quickly, it was mainly the one guy that was reviewing it. Ah, why not! I don't know if any of the other GAs for the 2011 season page would make FA, but we can always work it out, can't we?! ;) Craig(talk) 13:49, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

How do I do it? A little bit of patience, and a little bit of can-do attitude. Sometimes it's minor typographical things or on other occasions, writing a report on the stages of a stage race (yeah, I kinda started doing that for the World Tour races this year, as you probably will have seen...), I know that I have to do it, rather than wait and not do it. I've usually got something that keeps me going on here, anyway! Whether it be motor racing or cycling, or anything in between generally; I'll be here until I'm blue in the face! ;) Craig(talk) 21:09, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, sure I'll give it a look through later on. I might try to link it in with what was done on the VWA, for their roster. Separate mini-sections for each group of riders probably. A little cleanlier, perhaps. Not sure. Take as long as you want; no rush! Craig(talk) 07:31, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Just to let you know that I've had a look into that bullet-point thing on the Leopard page, and changed it to something similar to the ones listed on the GA-VWA page. It has added 11,000 bytes onto the page however, so it's a bit heavy now! Craig(talk) 16:03, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm gonna add one more section - a "genesis of the new team" section like on 2009 Cervélo TestTeam season (we could probably stand to have such a section on 2010 Team Sky season and 2012 GreenEDGE season as well, but I'm in no rush to tackle those articles). I've already got the sources gathered, it shouldn't be any big thing to write it. We'll see if future GA/PR/FA/whatever reviewers have any problems with the article size. I'm really not sure what could go, except if it's decided that that rider breakdown thing should be on 2012 RadioShack-Nissan-Trek season (which would in turn bloat that article....ahh, this is all so delightful, isn't it?). Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 01:32, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
The rider breakdown section looks better now than it did with the bulleted lists. I'm still not convinced it's optimal, but I do think neither of us need to tinker with it anymore just now. It can wait until we get fresh eyes and some kind of community review on it. Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 02:24, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Fair enough; I'll do that GreenEDGE at some point [basically whenever I get the chance, in all words] I can't think of anything that can go; there was just a series of events that occurred during the season for the team. Rider breakdown seems to be around the 20KB mark, so it would bloat the 2011 page too. Mind you, they have had a quiet season so far, but we'll see how they do come the end of the season. I cannot think of a better way to portray the section now that it has replaced the list...but yeah, fresher eyes and all that. Craig(talk) 09:04, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

Yeah...I gotta check out again for a while. It was nice to come back for a week and not just work on the season article, but post the classifications for the three Ardennes :) You keep up the good work now. Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 09:30, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

It was good to have some help for a while! Well yeah, I had Grands Prix on both Sundays of the Ardennes, and I missed Fleche due to my work placement...gonna miss a lot of the Giro that way, which is disappointing. But yeah, thought I'd take a back seat on those Ardennes races; let someone do the results and I'd do the quick spiel up top. I'll do my best to keep it up to your standards. ;) But yeah, hope to see you around near-Giro time! Craig(talk) 22:37, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Europcar 2011 images

Hi just so you know, MOS recommends against beginning sections with left-oriented image thumbs, because ADA blind-reader software can't process it correctly, so that is why I have moved the images to different paragraphs or changed the thumbs to right-orientation depending on circumstance.

Also MOS recommends against "image sandwiching" which means having infoboxes or thumbs on both sides of a text section simultaneously, which is another reason I have been making these formatting changes to the page. 67.204.182.18 (talk) 23:12, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Are you aware how daunting "check the MOS" is? That document is like the tax code. I guess I'm just gonna have to take your word for it..? I'm pretty sure eyes in images are supposed to face the text, too, though that may have just been an editor's preference that I latched on to.
Even so, none of this explains why you placed an image of the Tour de France jersey winners in a section about the change of the team's title sponsor. That defies all reason. Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 05:46, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
i know what you mean, the first time I heard the thing about the ADA software I had a hard time believing it too, but a very experienced editor was very serious about it and reverted tons of my formatting edits at a very busy page until we got on the same wavelength about it, explained this all to me. As for image sandwiching etc: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Images#Location, and why I deleted the europcar logo and replaced it with that white jersey image, is because the logo was the least important and most replaceable image, and keeping the rolland pic in the other section, while following the MOS, would leave a bunch of white space (look how much there is even now after the evan and voeckler image) at the bottom of the section. I decided to keep all the "real images" and replace the logo image (which was just an svg line render anyways) with that rolland image (even though I agree it isn't AS applicable as the logo) to make sure the Tdf formatting section was ok and had minimal white space, "under the circumstances." 67.204.182.18 (talk) 20:35, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

Re: Orica-GreenEDGE

I think you covered all the pages well; I certainly can't think of any other pages that need to be moved! I'll sort the {{ct|GEC|2012}} out when I get home – because I'm working just now – but if I run out of things to do here, I'll end up doing it sooner. I'm going to focus on the stage articles themselves, and then if necessary, sort out the main race page. If I feel the need to expand the race page, I'll do that too. I know that I'm going to be able to watch all the weekend stages, and Monday's last Danish stage due to it being a holiday over here. Mind you, I did write Pais Vasco and Romandie from reports only, and they both are C-Class articles...well in Racklever's opinion...but that doesn't exactly count for much if I'm honest. I think all the World Tour stage races this year are GA material, if not B-Class. Fancy double checking for me, please? ;) Yeah, I'm sure I can fill out some trivium on those pages, and such like! Craig(talk) 11:31, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

All the {{ct|GEC|2012}} ct's sorted. :) Craig(talk) 11:08, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
Those articles look terrific! Excellent job. Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 14:30, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Just been trying to sum up the events, without taking up too much space for the races. I must admit today's Giro stage review will likely have more about the finish than anything else... Craig(talk) 19:13, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Mind you, a few of them could use images from the race, but they're hard to come by on Flickr of late... Craig(talk) 19:17, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Cycling

Thanks for the tips, I'll concentrate on particular riders articles, I'll try to keep the encyclopedic tone throughout. Cs- Wolfe had a rest day today (although I suspect he'll write something about the rest day with 24 references) :P Mattaidepikiw (talk) 02:35, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Hey I just read your user page, it is pretty interesting, and it's quite awesome what you did with the 2008 Giro d'Italia. I also think cycling articles need more prose and as such I'm working relentlessly, day and night, with sweat dripping from my forehead, on the 2012 Tour of California (OK, not THAT much :P). I also like updating riders' articles mainly with text. I love it so far, cs-wolfe is a great mentor. Hope to see you around! Mattaidepikiw (talk) 06:45, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
I don't think I'll ever completely go away, but you won't see me nearly as much as you see him. Keep at it :) Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 23:17, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
How is it possible? A bunch finish in such a stage? o.0 Mattaidepikiw (Talk) 00:10, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

First half of the Giro done, and the first stage recap page over and done with...perhaps slightly overdetailed, but is B-worthy. Craig(talk) 13:41, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

Naw, I wouldn't say it's overdetailed. Overdepicted, maybe. I wouldn't put 2 pictures in any sections like that. But it's more your article than mine :) Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 15:19, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Luckily I wasn't the cause of those! Somebody went a bit picture-happy, but if you wish to pick one for each section, feel free! ;) At least I can put my feet up on Monday! A rest day at last! ;) Craig(talk) 15:35, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure which I'd favor. Both are suitable for stage 5, and both for stage 11 are...not unsuitable, but neither screams for inclusion ahead of the other (they're basically the same picture). ALT text would be a good idea to add, too. Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 20:59, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I was struggling for logical captions for those stage 11 photos...nowt special, if I'm brutally honest. I'd thought to leave it to the expert of the alt-text... ;) Craig(talk) 01:18, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Another case of I'll-be-around-for-a-few-days. I'm gonna do a GA review (the top article on the list had been there for three and a half months! That is outright absurd), and I'll try to knock another 2011 article down in the meantime as well. May as well stay active until the Giro concludes. Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 01:24, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Some of the cycling GAs went three months without a review, too. Disgraceful. Good to have you back! Craig(talk) 18:41, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Gotta hate those edit conflicts! I made a few errors, hence the bits and pieces. I apologise with a cherry on top. :) Craig(talk) 15:48, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
I prefer strawberries myself :p Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 15:55, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Pfft...have a strawberry then, haha! ;) Craig(talk) 15:57, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

West Virginia Mountaineers football

I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to review the article for GA purposes. You would think that someone with a law degree (and going after his 2nd one to boot!) wouldn't write so terribly...Then again, there's a reason that my professors usually leave my papers bleeding in a sea of red ink ;). I have made the changes as outlined in your review and hope to have the article achieve GA status soon. Again, thank you. I truly appreciate you taking the time! Swcrowemessage 08:20, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

Give yourself a little credit - the article was big and in generally good shape as was. I just do very thorough reviews, above and beyond the actual GA standards (you'll notice a few of my remarks I said they weren't actually required for GA status). I'll return to the article later this afternoon, after the Giro concludes. Green-eyed girl (Talk · Contribs) 11:26, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
