June 2013[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Srich32977. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Desert Hot Springs High School, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on [[User_talk:Srich32977|my talk page]] here. Thank you. – S. Rich (talk) 00:12, 25 June 2013 (UTC)00:56, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Greg, there are two issues. 1. Does Noemi meet the Wikipedia criteria for WP:NOTABILITY? 2. Is there reliable sourcing that documents the notability? Once the criteria are meet, then you gotta WP:WTAF. But I've Googled Noemi -- and not much comes up. Well, even if you create and article that has some sourcing, WP users (e.g., the community of editors) reviews such new articles and determine if they should be kept. Sorry. S. Rich (talk) 11:20, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Like I say Greg, we gotta have RS for Noemi. I do see her listed on the East Los page, and I see her IMDb resume. But the official East Los & IMDb pages do not mention DHSHS. Please keep in mind that verification is very important, particularly with WP:BLPs. That official guidance also explains why I did the edit on PSHS. (Also, keep in mind that we do not consider IMDb to be a reliable source for citations, (even though contributors violate this guidance constantly.)) – S. Regards to high school verification[edit]

So what you are saying that if a person like Noemi Gonzalez or Robin Shou or TracyG (Griljalva), my cousin, does not have in some information of theirs that they attended a particular school, then it's null and void. Then tell me why did someone like Cameron Crowe get on Indio High School's "notable Alunmni" section. Where's that documentation. Reason why I brought up TracyG, is because I talked with him the other day and he gave me the go ahead to put him on the La Puente High School page. You already have a Wiki page on him. What do you need again.

Cameron Crowe has an article, and WP:RS for a lot of the information. Even so, just because one article does not have adequate RS does not justify inclusion of data in another article without RS.
Tracy G is another problem article, and I have "tagged" it for reference improvement.
Where or not someone says it's okay to post stuff on Wikipedia does not matter. We seek secondary sources about people, not what is told to someone on a personal basis.
As mentioned elsewhere, you should read-up on how Wikipedia works. Look at the WP:5P. This will explain a lot. (If you will first read up on this, I am here to help.)
In any event, IP 74.106.45.250, if you are Greg Andrade, please use your username to sign in and make comments. I am not responding to any more comments to IP addresses on these topics. Thanks. – S. Rich (talk) 00:54, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Okay I have read the information on reliable sources and other Wiki information.[edit]

Okay, in the case that Noemi Gonzalez has little reliable sources due to only a few bits of information and little on where she grew up (Desert Hot Springs and attended Desert Hot Springs High School) for example. Since I'm a teacher from that school and been there from it's inception 1999, can I present my credentials or photography to justify reliability that I want to present on the Desert Hot Springs High School page, or will we just have to wait until something is published with this worth of information.

Here's an another argument; I use to teach at Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley and one of our students, Solomon Bates, played for the Seattle Seahawks for three years. Doing some research on one of his bios from Arizona State, Solomon bio states that he attended Canyon Springs High School. This is on an Football website for ASU, do you consider this reliable: http://www.thesundevils.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/bates_solomon00.html

Thanks for being patient with me, I would like to contribute and put Desert Hot Springs High School's Notable Alumni together the correct way. Please respond back.

Thanks!

Greg Andrade

Can I add Robin Shou to the Palm Springs High School Wiki page[edit]

Hello,

Greg Andrade again. Robin Shou attended Palm Springs High School and was a friend of mine, we graduated together. I wanted to add him to the notable alumni section. Would you check this site and give me the okay before I post the the Palm Springs High School site: http://www.robinshou.wai-lung.com/robinshou_en_bio.htm

Thanks,

Go ahead and add it to Robin Shou. Please review and follow WP:CITE. (Do your best and I will make technical corrections.) Then add the name link to the alums at PSHS. – S. Rich (talk) 20:19, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Citing a source in the references[edit]

S. Rich,

After reading the citing the source information, this is what I concluded. Can you let me know if I'm on the right track. By the way Rich, I can't find anything on Noemi Gonzalez about going to Desert Hot Springs High School, only that she was originally from there on the East Los High site. We will just have to wait I take it. On another note, can I add Solomon Bates to Canyon Springs High School, Moreno Valley CA if I cite the source under the references section.

WP:BB. In other words, don't ask me for permission. – S. Rich (talk) 23:05, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
