Glenn Tipton

Not sure if it is you that originally posted the Glenn Tipton article but it was incorrect. I joined and edited accordingly and just found my edits were reversed back to the false details. I have reinserted them but I fear an edit war coming.

If it isn't you, please can you advise as to how I go about warning the editor 62.56.97.189 or locking the page?

If you are the original author/re editor, please can you liaise with me so I can point out the inaccuracies. It isn't even a matter of opinion as I have hard data - books and interviews with Glenn himself - that verify my edits and disproves what was before (and subsequently reinstated).

I didn't know they were listed there as well, and I think that the battle of the bands should not be listed in the line up because they are not listed in the official billing, but maybe they could be placed in the article in another section, if they lived up to Wikipedia's notability standards. External links to interviews on band pages were listed to aid in research on those bands and/or people. Not for promotion. The links can also be used as sources. I see you deleted ALL my links to as you say "sites with which you are affiliated". So why not delete links to people's personal websites with photos? Or to other sites with interviews? If your edit is to make sense then edit ALL personal links. When I use Wikipedia to research bands I'll be interviewing, I find it extreemly useful to see what other interviewers have asked so I don't ask the same questions. Deletions of other links were made in accident, by cutting rather than copying- and I returned to those and tried to fix it. I'm new to all this code stuff. I'm not some internet nerd. Wikipedia Policy WP:FAIR

To say Wikipedia's policy about images (Fair Use) is complicated is an understatement. With regards to screenshots(or album covers for that matter) it doesn't matter how well sourced they are...it matters what they are used for within the article itself. A screenshot can only be used within specific text reference(critical commentary) about the video from which the screenshot was taken. Likewise album covers can't be used unless they are either in an article about the album itself, or ensconced within text directly relating to the album. I tried to shade the policy once by simply putting a caption stating where the screenshot originated from but it was a no go. They are definitely taboo in infoboxes. I gave up trying to include images in articles a long time ago because of Wiki's "fair use" and "replaceable fair use" policies. "Replaceable fair use" essentially means...if the subject is still alive, the you have the ability to go and take a picture of that person yourself instead of using "Promotional photos" from the artist's website(or where ever). If you try to justify adding a "replaceable promo shot" beacause you've seen them in other articles....it just means the Wiki-photo checkers haven't made it to that article yet to remove to unfair image. Hope that helps. If you have any other questions, the editor who rm'd the screenshot from the Friedman article (Moe) is an expert on Wikipedia's Fair Use policy and can probably explain in much more depth than I can about how it works. Yes, I am the creator of that Everytime you Masturbate, God kills a kitten image... that info used to be in the article, and has even survived an afd because others agreed that it is verifiable information. Unfortunately, now it seems that it is no longer verifiable, despite all the "offline" knowledge regarding this. My name has been removed from the article. Despite the fact that I know the truth of the information, I support removing it, since it is unverifiable at this time, and this is Wikipedia policy. Thanks. Tzepish 16:59, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Marty Friedman Article

Okay, i dont know how going about refencing his tv show Rock Fujiyama. I live in Japan so ive watched the tv show weekly. if you could, give me a list of things that do need to be refenced and i will try to find a proper source. he said in one episode that he is no religion because theres too much hassle behind all of it. i also talk to him sometimes when hes around in tokyo. i cannot refence these talks because they are personal, and i dont believe he would like it. i have a live marty photo i am uploading, if not proper, please tell me why, i hate going to these confusing wiki help pages. thanks sooo much!! The problem is that no original research is allowed in Wikipedia, that means that it has to be verifiable. I have now added a "to-do list" to Marty Friedman, you can view it at Talk:Marty_Friedman_(guitarist)/to_do or go to the article, click "discussion" and there it is at the top. Saxon

Actually they won the case. They legally HAVE to use the Oliver/Dawson part of the title to differentiate, but they also have the legal right to the Saxon name as claimed. It is officially a form of Saxon. Nothing anyone can do about it. That's why the official website and myspace still call it that.

What perhaps got you confused that despite the official title being O/D Saxon, they were frequently being billed as Saxon. THAT has been forbidden.

Any musical venture by two former members of a band as historically important as Saxon should be allowable. Let alone two founding members and another former member. See Wishbone Ash and Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash for an example of it working. L.A. Guns is another, though they both use the same name which is a little different. Until that page exists it should the on the Saxon page. I hope to get it done sometime, if no one else does. But at least where it is now, Saxon editors can begin to lavish attention on it. I haven't been too active recently because I'm finishing a Master's degree but I'll have some more free time coming up. We have a lot of great people working on the project, including professional guitarists and even luthiers. We have the potential to write a lot of great articles.
