File copyright problem with File:Civitas-at-gateway.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Civitas-at-gateway.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.  fetchcomms 22:28, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Rock-hill-city-hall.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Rock-hill-city-hall.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 22:29, 18 April 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  fetchcomms 22:29, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Comporium.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Comporium.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to your talk page.
  • If you believe the bot has made an error, please turn it off here and leave a message on my owner's talk page.

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Manchester Village, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Manchester Village and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 22:44, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please use the Show Preview button instead of repeated tiny edits[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In the future, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Section titles[edit]

Hi, just letting you know that when adding section titles to an article, you must follow Wikipedia policy. WP:Headings states "Capitalize the first letter of the first word and any proper nouns in headings, but leave the rest in lower case (Rules and regulations, not Rules and Regulations)." I had to fix a number of articles where you added the section titles with all words capitalized, such as adding "Geography and Climate" as opposed to the correct format "Geography and climate". It may not be that big of a deal, but adding them incorrectly is only making work for other editors, who have to go back and fix the edits. Please don't take this as me being critical of your edits. I can easily see that the edits were made in good faith and that it's most likely you didn't know the details of the policy. Cmr08 (talk) 05:52, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Photos in and around Washington DC[edit]

Thanks for adding those various photos to Wikipedia and to Commons. I have, however, removed them from the two or three article that you added them to (e.g., Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Washington DC). Those articles are already chock full of the photos of the subject and another one or two really begins to look cluttered. If you want to work your photos into articles, try finding articles about local buildings or scenes that *don't* have a photo, and then take a photo of that! Those photos add real information, and other users will really appreciate them. Good luck editing! JohnInDC (talk) 11:02, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. OhNoitsJamie Talk 20:55, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add unsourced content. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. OhNoitsJamie Talk 21:33, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

July 2011[edit]

Please take greater care with some of your edits. Changing 51st State to redirect to Puerto Rico is entirely inappropriate when the page prior to your edit redirected to the existing article 51st state (differing only in capitalization). Likewise your addition of Puerto Rico to 51st state (disambiguation) is unnecessary, in that Puerto Rico's association with the phrase is well-covered in the main article 51st State already linked on that page. Please understand that your edits take place in the context of an existing encyclopedia, with existing entries and interrelationships, and you need to be alert to confusion that your ideas, undertaken in a vacuum, can cause. Thanks. JohnInDC (talk) 01:51, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problems with File:Gastonia NC.jpg[edit]

Hello. Concerning your contribution, File:Gastonia NC.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.city-data.com/picfilesv/picv31161.php. As a copyright violation, File:Gastonia NC.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. File:Gastonia NC.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While contributions are appreciated, Wikipedia must require all contributors to understand and comply with its copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. JohnInDC (talk) 01:56, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

inappropriate re-directs[edit]

Your re-directs of four 'List of National Park Service Areas in foostate' 'List of federal lands in foostate' are factually wrong and inappropriate. NPS areas are a subset of federal lands and do not encompass all federal lands in a state, which are managed by a variety of federal entities. Also the NPS lists are properly part of NPS categories, which federal lands lists cannot be. Please study the facts and the WP system more carefully before attempting such changes in the future. Hmains (talk) 18:26, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have already warned you about this once, and am now undertaking the time-consuming process of undoing your incorrect redirects. If you keep up this sort of sloppy editing you may find yourself blocked. Thanks. JohnInDC (talk) 18:40, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also please don't re-create existing pages, with existing and established titles, under new names. It is confusing, often incorrect, and requires a lot of time and effort to correct. Thanks. JohnInDC (talk) 19:08, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

November 2011[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. It doesn't appear that any of your recent edits have edit summaries. This makes it just look like vandalism. -- JoannaSerah (talk) 04:03, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Mount Mitchell, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please don't just change info without putting in a edit summary or having any citations. Thank you. -- JoannaSerah (talk) 04:03, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

January 2012[edit]

Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to Gastonia, North Carolina. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. -- Also your edits on Charlotte metropolitan area and Newport, South Carolina, have been reverted. -- JoannaSerah (talk) 00:49, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

TrueKnowledge website[edit]

Please stop putting in the trueknowledge.com website as a reference for population data. You basically are just writing whatever you want as the site mirrors some from Wikipedia. It is filled with ads only with little info and no reliable sources. Please stop or else it will look like you are just spamming. Thank you. -- JoannaSerah (talk) 06:33, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

February 2012[edit]

Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. You had to know that you would be warned about this again. Why continue your disruptive editing? Sometimes this user acct. and the 208.104.235.49 IP provide reasonable info, but other times your edits are simply completely disruptive. Please stop the nonconstructive edits. Thank you. -- JoannaSerah (talk) 03:47, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. Please acquaint yourself with Wikipedia policies and conventions and try to abide by them. Continually reverting articles to impose ideas contrary to consensus is disruptive to Wikipedia and cannot be tolerated. Accordingly, if you continue to insist that real estate websites, city utility departments, etc., are a better source of population data than official U.S. Census figures, you can expect to have your editing access blocked. Orlady (talk) 04:37, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

March 2012[edit]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at US Youth Soccer National Championships. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. -- JoannaSerah (talk) 04:11, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It was highly inappropriate to redirect the article as you did. You do not copy and paste from one article to another and then redirect the old article to the new. The edit history would then be lost. Article should have been moved instead (if it was deemed necessary, which it wasn't). Also, you did this without discussion and to an incorrect article name. Your edits were purely disruptive. You and 208.104.235.49 had been getting a little better lately. Please keep your edits to being correct and constructive to Wikipedia. Thank you. -- JoannaSerah (talk) 04:11, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
