Thanks for the outreach and welcome greetings. I already have -somewhere- a Wiki profile, but forgot the password after a couple years of hiatus in helping Wikipedia which I tried to aid since its early start when it was much more simple, so I have no alternative but to contribute anonymously :( Hope one day I may recover my own access if I find the password wherever it is in one of my 5 e-mail accounts, mostly in yahoo and aol. Once again, THANKS. Lemme know how to follow your edits and contributions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.222.192.13 (talk) 22:39, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

You're welcome. :-)
You can look at my contributions here; IMO they're pretty boring. --I dream of horses (T) @ 23:28, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
IP, you don't have to contribute anonymously because of that; if you created a new account, it would not be a violation of the WP:Sockpuppet policy as long as you stick to that account. You could also name your past account on your user page for transparency. Flyer22 (talk) 08:20, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

Re: Foo Fighters' page edits

Hello, pal. I see you have reverted the changes I made to the Foo Fighters' infobox. I added the Holy Shits as their alternative band name because during this last year they played some secret shows under that alias. Don't think it should be reverted. It has been a real name they use. Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.23.98.232 (talk) 17:59, December 31, 2014

Happy New Year

Thanks for your message. I am using a shared computer here in Bulacan, Philippines, since I cannot have access to my own yet; I desire to create a new Account User:Elements 911 since a photographer has donated to me his photos as he donated them to 2 Commons editors who uploaded already the 120,000 and 119,000 photos here but the former was given permission to take a wikibreak and the latter is about to take a break but was not given permission by the photographer her; is it allowed here in Commons to create another account a new one, since this new editor would start uploading the 241,001st picture and once allowed or not illegal here, the 2nd editor would have a break, hoping from your kind reply and sincerely--112.210.139.242 (talk) 03:48, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

It's probably best to have the photographer create an account on Commons themself.
Happy new year, to you too. I dream of horses (T) @ 03:59, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

Fact Checker 7777777

Greetings,

I tried to edit a wikipedia page for the first time tonight. The page was ALMEDA UNIVERSITY. As a result of my lack of experience, I believe I made several mistakes and also accidentally erased some existing content. I tried to undo all of my edits, it appears that I was able to undo them; however, I am not sure how to check and make for certain. Would you be so kind as to look and undo all of the changes that I made tonight? If so, I would appreciate it. I should probably do some more reading before I attempt to edit anymore wikipedia entries. Again, please check and undo any changes that I made - I am sure that I changed (and deleted) some text that I did not intend too.

If you can help undo my edits I would appreciate it.

Please and thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fact Checker 7777777 (talkcontribs) 04:52, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

I think they've all been undone. :-) I dream of horses (T) @ 15:58, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

I am unable to edit semiprotected pages even though I am autoconfirmed.

This is pretty much it... I am unable to edit any semiprotected page. I used to be able to, but now I cannot. I even checked what group I'm in, and it says I am autoconfirmed.

Request and query

Hello again, regarding [1] my above query; I am the photographer who donated my 239,000 photos already uploaded Commons by 2 Users; but I cannot upload myself for this reason, I donated them and all that I will take in the Philippines to another 3rd trusted editor in Commons; reason is that these 2 editors already did a lot in the 239,000 photos uploaded since 2010 until today; so, they beg leave to take break and I found another trusted one who agreed to create User:Elements 911 and to upload forthwith all my photos for Commons; so my query is about the Rules on multiple Commons account; can you ask the administrators in Commons; I and the new editor are not interested and do not want to edit Wikipedia but just to upload my treasure Philippine photos to be taken and taken since this week; hoping for your kind help and answer, sincerely, I use a shared computer since I do not have one; Best of Holidays, again to you and your loved ones--112.203.224.231 (talk) 09:36, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

I don't understand why you can't upload them? I dream of horses (T) @ 15:50, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

You reverted a change I did because it didn't appear constructive. I disagree, the only reason I see not to add this info, is to protect a harvard college in-joke. Well, I did, but by now they've already been blocked. You do a great job fighting vandalism, and your reverts are accurate 99.9% of the time. However, I think this particular instance is more ambiguous, as "lack of understanding of the purpose of Wikipedia" is not vandalism, and this IP was inserting commentary on an article as if it was a forum. After the first few reverts, it would have been more helpful to explain rather than keep templating them. Cheers, Altamel (talk) 03:42, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Mackinac College edit

I'm not sure what I can give you for sources ( I have a folder of original documents from that time period). What I have given you is an eyewitness account by one of the participants and member of the class of 1967. Ms. Phillips class of 1970 ( one of the graduates - I was present at the ceremony and may still have pictures) Jim Nesteby Chairman of the Town Meeting (now deceased), Bruce Camp or John McElroy (three of the four students expelled) can verify my account sketchy as it is. Feel free to call me at 207-993-2933 I am more than willing to talk of my experiences while enrolled. Note: I was on the original list to be expelled - probably due to a term paper I wrote - and was called on the carpet for - about propaganda and brainwashing, and a button which stated Majority Rules Always MRA - in reference to the Town hall meeting and the student vote on the demands presented to the Board of Trustees, I was present when the administration walked out. New contribution

Hello I dream of horses,

I have created a page (I think in sandbox or some temporary practice space). How can I submit the new page for review and posting in Wikipedia? --Krolickinaltai (talk) 09:26, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

You can do so by putting {{subst:submit}} at the top of the page. Note it can take upwards of a month to get reviewed; however, I recommend this over just copy and pasting into article space. --I dream of horses (T) @ 01:57, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

New User..... Editing.... Whole Life insurance

I have been a frequent user of Wikipedia, and usually find the articles helpful and authoritative; however, the article on Whole Life disappoints.... probably because it was written by someone with not much knowledge of the subject. I see some obvious inaccuracies, although the author does not seem to have been deliberately biased.

As a veteran of the Life Insurance business (sold it since 1965) and as holding the professional designations of CLU and ChFC, I know this to be a volatile, controversial and complex subject. I also am convicted that there are probably no unbiased opinions.

I believe I could give this slot a much more professional job as to content, look, and feel; but I don't know the protocols. Is it okay to totally replace the content? I have already submitted some (add-on) edits.

I have extensive knowledge and experience, and have done some writing...primarily as a local newspaper guest columnist. Tell me how I can contribute!MiltChFC (talk) 23:02, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

It's probably best to at least attempt to get some consensus on the talk page of whole life insurance as to whether to replace everything, and then try to use an encyclopedic tone if you should do so; however, I think you have a good attitude about this, that you would be considered an expert on the subject, and that you may even have access to sources that other people wouldn't have access to. --I dream of horses (T) @ 00:04, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Possible vandalism redirect

I don't know who to notify, but there is possible vandalism that causes the article on Conrad Heyer (American Revolutionary soldier and earliest born human photographic subject) to redirect to "V for Vendetta". Vereverde (talk) 00:42, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Actually, this deletion discussion resulted in a decision to redirect to V for Vendetta. Perhaps review notability and sourcing policy to see if you can get a "Conrad Heyer (soldier)" article started. --I dream of horses (T) @ 01:29, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! I was unaware of the fictional character. Can you give me some tips on how I would be able to search and research discussions that lead to deletions and redirections? For example, how did you find the cause for Conrad Heyer being redirected to V for Vendetta? Vereverde (talk) 15:21, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
I went to Conrad Heyer, and V for Vendetta should have "redirected from Conrad Heyer" in small text at the top of the page. I clicked on the link, then checked the history of the page. The redirect was explained in an edit summary. --I dream of horses (T) @ 02:05, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

References

Earlier today you deleted what I added on the Pattaya page and suggested that I add references. However when I scrolled down to the reflist and saw that most were laid out differently. They didn't use any templates at all. What I'm using is obviously a newbie thing (not as advanced) and I'm fine with that, but I've seen people use templates that are actually unique to a certain website, such as WoRMS. Is there a help page I could refer to for help? They are familiar with their names Hassan and Ibrahim Ignatovi (Хасан и Ибрахим Игнатови), not as Brothers Ignatovi (Братя Игнатови).It would be easier for me to correspond with you via an e--mail or Facebook, because this page is inaccessible for me to discuss any the topic.

Further to our discussion about editing Life Insurance information site(s).

A couple of questions: (1) When I spot statements or information which I know to be in error, is the accepted procedure to DELETE and reinsert corrections? Is this permissible? (2) is it better to make addendums with fresh, additional information? If so, how can I make this stand out so that it is clear that this information from another source? (3) at what point should a fresh re-write be considered? (4) is the Sandbox the appropriate place to have material review or considered for publication? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MiltChFC (talkcontribs) 18:22, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

  1. Yes, it is permissible to remove wrongful information, particularly if you have a reliable source to back it up.
  2. You don't really make information "stand out", but you can use inline citations to clarify that it's from a different source.
  3. If the article is so awful as to almost, but not quite, justify deletion, then a rewrite can be helpful.
  4. Your own sandbox can be a good place for review. The "public" sandbox, while good for test edits, isn't made for review, as it's the place where we direct those doing test edits in article space---edits that would include randomly pushing buttons on their screen or keyboard. You can read more about sandboxes here. --I dream of horses (T) @ 19:59, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Firstly, you'll have to say that you work for him on your talk page, which is here. This is per Wikipedias' terms of use.
Secondly, you'll have to be mindful of conflict of interest. Please be aware of the {{requested edit}} template, which you can (and should!) use on the talk page of Lawrence Hill, and of the paid editor help board, which you can use to ask for help. --I dream of horses (T) @ 03:03, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

I assume you are able to visit my sandbox.

If so, please take a look at some additional material I am working on in order to give a more accurate view of whole life. I am striving to keep it factual and unbiased, and only to use information I can document in one way or anotherMiltChFC (talk) 21:53, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

I did just visit your sandbox. Admittedly, I am quite unknowledgeable in this area. However, the formatting (the way it looks in comparison to other Wikipedia articles, essentially) could use improvement. Since it's your sandbox, I'll go ahead and ask you if it's all right to correct that. --I dream of horses (T) @ 07:21, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
Sure...help me with formatting... I'm weak in this area, being new to Wikipedia I need to master the technique of inserting graphs, tables, and illustrations. MiltChFC (talk) 17:19, 14 January 2015 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by MiltChFC (talkcontribs) 16:53, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
I've now corrected the section headers in the article. I've also inserted a {{reflist}} template, but that shouldn't be necessary if you transfer the edits over to the article. Most articles already have a "reflist" template.
I've rarely, if ever inserted graphs, etc. into an article. If you need someone more experienced than I, then I'm sure someone at the teahouse will help. I will briefly explain it, though.
Basically you upload a partially copyrighted file (partially copyrighted=someone else can freely distribute, modify, and sell the image so long as they attribute you) to Wikimedia commons (it's owned by the same company that owns Wikipedia, so this account of yours should work), and once the file is uploaded/if the file was uploaded by someone else you put File:Nameofimagehere.imageformathere in the article. Hi first time using this feature. Replying to welcome of yours because I had my edits reverted by user Bentogoa who apparently is just randomly reverting edits of myself and other users today. I worked really hard on these both in researching and in composing my edits and it was really discouraging. Extrachessy (talk) 19:52, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Ok I hadn't realized the extent of the reversions, which not only appear insensitive on gender and trans issues, but reflect ignorance of the subject matter. I'm really insulted and angry now.Extrachessy (talk) 20:27, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Have you tried talking to Bentogoa directly, in hopes there is an explanation other than being insensitive? --I dream of horses (T) @ 20:33, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
No, I am coming to you first looking for advice on how best to proceed, since you are my initial contact since joining. His reversions are so extensive and seemingly random that (-713?) that I am not sure how best to approach him about this, not having time to argue over every word. What do you suggest that I say? In reading about edits, it appears that I have the option of simply undoing his reversions and adding an explanation for same. Is this also an option? Thanks for your reply!Extrachessy (talk) 21:22, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Bentogoa seems to be using huggle and rollback to revert all of your consecutive edits all at once. Reverting him/her would risk a possible edit war, so I'd suggest you employ the bold, revert, discuss method instead--that is, you made an edit, you were reverted, and now you need to discuss. I know you said you don't have time to justify every word, but it's reasonable to ask why you've been reverted, particularly if you try to be polite about it. --I dream of horses (T) @ 22:05, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

help editing and creating page from draft

Hey,

Would love to get some help editing and putting together this page. I have web sources and i am the artist in question.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artisan301 (talkcontribs) 23:13, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Well, it looks like you've added multiple sources since you last submitted it, which is good. I'm not much of an AfC'er myself, but I will say it's improved. Keep in mind that you don't have to use online sources; you could, in fact, use offline sources if you leave enough information in the inline citation to enable a reader to look it up at a library or something.
I'd suggest you give a quick read on how to reference and what references we want. Also, you'll eventually want to look into our conflict of interest guidelines, which is also written in a plain and simple format if you prefer to skim through them. If the draft gets turned into an article, you may find the {{requested edit}} template useful. Don't worry too much about the conflict of interest guidelines now, though; you are complying with them already by writing a draft instead of writing an article that goes live immediately. --I dream of horses (T) @ 02:27, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Don't worry about images until after the draft turns into an article; learning how to "code" an image will probably distract you from writing the draft.
However, you can learn about adding images to articles here. I dream of horses (T) @ 21:15, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

A suggestion

Hi. Since I see you are very active in fixing syntax errors, here's a minor suggestion: Check my follow-up edit. These were already given as wikilinks in the body text. It's nice we have one more active editor to check interwiki links and internal links written as external links. A common mistake is that some editors use Wikipedia as a reference or do not know how to insert wikilinks. Thanks! -- Magioladitis (talk) 21:43, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

André César Vermare

Hi

I notice that when editing my piece on Vermare your work had somehow removed the bulk of what I had written. Hopefully this was an error and not a judgement on my work. I would be most grateful if you could put back what has disappeared. Many thanks Weglinde (talk) 15:39, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

It's quite unusual to detail each and every piece of art that someone has made. You also made several mistakes as to the heading hierarchy. --I dream of horses (T) @ 21:23, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
Seems that I was somewhat naive when thinking that an error had been made and that the removal of my work was in fact intentional. You may think it unusual to go into such detail but I have put well over 100 such articles on wikipedia and known that such listings are much used by students of art and often much appreciated for the level of information given. Of course not everyone needs such detail but there is no compulsion to read everything. I do not know what powers editors are given and I agree that people such as yourself are essential but I must confess to being shocked that you are able to arbitrarily remove content in such a way. I am now repairing the damage done and have no wish to broaden this discussion but I am now fearful that you may choose to look at my other work and do the same as you did with the Vermare piece! Apart from anything else these listings take hours of my time. I do hope that no more is written on this. I will look through the notes on "heading hierarchy" and try to follow the correct procedure.
Weglinde (talk) 08:52, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
Why can't you do the listings in a separate article? That's what's traditionally done with this amount of detail.
I saw what you did when you "reverted" me, and I decided to correct it instead of taking it out this time. The table of contents is now probably quite overcrowded at this point, a pet peeve of many. You could've easily used the undo button, but instead you copy-and-pasted, causing the character "-" to be overused. This was tedious to correct. Also, you, again, didn't pay any amount of attention to heading hierarchy, which I also had to correct because if I hadn't done so, it would've caused issues with those using assistive technology to compensate for a low-to-no amount of vision--basically, it would've been difficult for a computer to read aloud. This also took time. People who are experienced Wikipedians typically don't make these mistakes. I dream of horses (T) @ 09:36, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Oh dear! Clearly I am not an "experienced Wikipedian". Anyway thank you for your imput. Weglinde (talk) 09:56, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Aw, don't feel too bad. I'm just a blunt person. I dream of horses (T) @ 18:01, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

New Editor seeking help with getting new page error free

Hi there, I am a new user Cmojim. I was hoping you could take a look at the page I am trying to fix and give me a few pointers on how to get the error message to go away at the top. I still need to do the inline citations and reference part which I am having difficulty with. Also it still says that it is an orphan article and I have put its link on other relating wiki's already. Any advice would be greatly appreciated for this is my first wiki project and I have no clue as to what I am doing. The page can be found at CyberArts International.

Thanks in advance to I dream of horses (T) --Cmojim (talk) 18:07, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

I went ahead and removed most of the "error messages"--we call them "templates" or "tags". The only one I left is {{more footnotes}}, and once you use reliable sources to inline cite each section, you can go ahead and remove it yourself. --I dream of horses (T) @ 21:29, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
Hello again and thank you so much for your help earlier.I have a couple more questions about my page.
I thought I have fixed the citation errors and everything looked good to me, but now it appears that
I have a whole new set of tags on there. They have to do with not being an advertisement, unclear citation style and etc.
I don't really understand what the problem is so I was hoping you could take a look
and let me know how I can fix this. The page is CyberArts International.

Hi, I am not very familiar with Wikipedia and wanted to ask you how to semi-protect a page or how to prevent a user from constantly vandalising a part of it? I noticed a user 24.205.90.47(talk) has changed the information (but not the cited web sources for the original information, which contradict his/her claims) on the ethnic background of an East Indian-American actress (Summer Bishil) a few times, without providing any explanation or new sources. Mackinac source references

I am not sure if you want me to refer to specific pages in Quasi - Jim Nesteby's book, in effect I refer you to the entire book. Mostly I speak from personal experience being a member of the second class (1967-1971), and was present during the events described (including a secret dorm meeting not described in which student strategy was discussed for the up coming Town Meeting in which the administration walked out. So how do YOU verify eyewitness accounts? Is there a way? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.50.54.165 (talk) 00:58, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I dream of horses. I see you use WPCleaner, as do i ~ i've edit conflicted with you a time or two this morning already ~ and i merely want to point something out that you did a few minutes ago. Normally, as you have four times the edits i do, i wouldn't be so presumptuous, but your edit to the above article actually didn't solve the problem at all, as you can see from mine a couple of minutes later. So i simply want to remind you to take care to investigate the potential problems when you're using Cleaner. Thanks! Cheers, LindsayHello 03:10, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

I'm actually quite new at WPcleaner, so thanks for pointing that out. You aren't presumptuous at all. I guess an internal link makes more sense there, doesn't it?--I dream of horses (T) @ 06:36, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
One of the things i like best about WPCleaner is that it is a great way to pick up potential vandalism edits, very frequently with unmatched brackets as with this article; i guess that's what i meant by "investigat[ing] the potential problems" above. I use a different account (Kahtar) on Cleaner, and look at potential issues with my main account, and it is amazing how many times on a run with Kahtar i end up editing as LindsayH because i've come across something bigger than Cleaner's ability to repair properly. Anyway, i hope you enjoy using it as much as i do ~ i find it a very helpful tool. Cheers, LindsayHello 10:30, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
That's a respectable and creative way of doing things; however, I'd like to stick with editing with one account if I can.
And yes, oddly enough, even thought the work is repetitive, I do enjoy using it. --I dream of horses (T) @ 18:24, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Fatima, Bohol

A recent edit at Fatima, Bohol (diff) seems broken. I can't work out the intention, and at any rate I thought it better to draw it to your attention in case there is a problem that might apply to other articles. The thing that drew my attention is the "[convert: invalid number]" at the end of the first paragraph, but there are other strange changes like "Ubay, Bohol|Ubay".
