New page reviewer granted[edit]

Hello I dream of horses. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as mark pages as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. MusikAnimal talk 02:21, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edits to page on Graphology[edit]

Hi, I would like to thank you very much for helping me contact Wiki editors through their 'talk' pages. This is all new to me but as I had had such a mess on my edit of the Lead on 'Graphology' I was anxious to explain my lack of awareness of my actions. Thankfully I have received positive feedback and can get back to learning how to do it all better. regards, Geeveraune (talk) 10:55, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling "corrections" in quotations[edit]

Does WP:WCW really apply to quotations, as this edit of yours would imply? SpinningSpark 11:02, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Spinningspark: Nope, and you were right to correct it. My bad; I'm out of practice. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 14:42, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Content Update of NIT Sikkim Page[edit]

Dear Ma'am This is to inform you that I am a student of NIT Sikkim and wish to edit the wikipedia page of NIT SIkkim. I had edited the page with adding details of the Department and Lab facilities present in our college. However the content was removed by you @I dream of horses: stating that the content is inapporpiate for the page. Can you briefly explain the reason behind your actions? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Avipriyo biswas (talkcontribs) 11:17, November 21, 2016 (UTC)

@Avipriyo biswas: I reverted your edits since it wasn't written in a way that an encyclopedia would be written. It was written more like an ad, or maybe something you would put in a pamphlet.
Our policies require that you go on your userpage, and say that you work for NIT Sikkim. You should also look at our conflict of interest policies. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 20:36, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Hello, I dream of horses. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A message from Jim1138[edit]

Self-reflection (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) A new editor, Gusandlucy added about 7k of text with non-inline refs under the section "Self Reflection in Education". 65.51.53.243 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) deleted about 6k leaving the refs. Not sure what to do with this. Would you please take a look at this? Much appreciated. Jim1138 (talk) 00:26, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Jim1138: The IP address (65.51.53.243) was probably correct in removing the "Self Reflection in education" section since the tone and word choices weren't ones you would see in an encyclopedia. Perhaps the references are no longer referencing anything, absent that section? I'm not sure, not being an expert in self-reflection. So, with that in mind, instead of removing the now misplaced reference section, I moved and renamed it instead, given that non-inline references sections are sometimes quite useful if you have access to a decent library. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 02:33, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for looking. I'm not an expert either. The references were added by Gusandlucy (shared account?). So, I think they would be superfluous. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 05:31, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Jim1138: No problem.
If you forget to log in, you'll edit under your IP address. At worst, that's probably what happened. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 20:24, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't edit that article logged out. I removed that notes section. It was added as refs for the Self Reflection in Education section. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 21:14, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Jim1138: No, I didn't mean you edited the article logged out. I meant Gusandlucy might've. I probably didn't communicate that well. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 04:22, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I seem to assume when there is a communication problem, it's my fault... Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 08:09, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Same. Cheers to you, too.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 20:36, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Review - newsletter[edit]

Hello I dream of horses/2016,
Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 811 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.

A message from MaxieDog[edit]

Hello,

I did read the information below the red print above, and I am sorry to bother you.

I am having difficulty navigating through the Wikipedia sites. I left a draft of a new article recently and asked for help. Today a message appeared addressed to me, which I now am unable to access again. The help-desk person said that I should have started the draft in 'draft page.' Now, I'm unable to get back to the draft in order to transfer it to 'draft page.'

The article begins with the name of my subject "Stefan Bardas...."

Apparently, what I have drafted will be deleted on December 1st if necessary changes are not made.

Most grateful to you, MaxieDog (talk) 21:16, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@MaxieDog: No worries. It's already at Draft:Stefan Bardas. I'd suggest bookmarking it for now. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 03:29, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
