Welcome back !![edit]

Hi Imoeng, welcome back. How was your exam? Hope it went well ;-)

Yes, Tourism in Indonesia is failed for GA. It's a pity. It says the major issues is the prose of the article. Well, this is my weakness as my English is not as good as others. It might also caused by collaboration week that the flow of the story is not smooth. I think we need someone who read the entire article to rewrite the prose. There is also a major weakness from GA review about NPOV, that the article is viewed more as promotional article. I have to admit that I did it also in this article, as the reviewer pointed one POV sentence in the lead section. I've fixed the lead section, but I guess there are more in the content. I'll try to add more other non-promotional text from tourism development policy articles.

However it does not mean that the article cannot reach GA status. Rewording, phrasing and removing promotional sentences can lead this article to GA. I've been a member of GA project now (well, to know more about something, just get involve in it ;-), and I think it's depend on the reviewer, but the most important thing for an article to be GA is to be in a nice prose for common readers, inline citations and neutral.

Oops, sorry for a long message. Nice to have you back. ;-) — Indon (reply) — 08:36, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wohoo, I envy you. I am in a middle of crisis here to submit a paper (in real life) before Oct. 1. Well, it's not an issue about portal news. It just somebody yesterday added news item without its source. You know, about the execution. I asked him to take it from portal news southeast asia, as has been agreed that is what we are going to update the news. And this morning as a news item about this execution appeared in the portal news southeast asia, he reverted back portal indonesia news to his edit, but it is his edits not taken from southeast asia news. Thus I removed his edits and copy pasted news from southeast asia news. I've added a bit of instruction in Portal:Indonesia/Indonesia_news that items should be exact quotations from southeast asia news. That's it. — Indon (reply) — 08:46, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tourism[edit]

Hi, I'm fine. I'm just finishing my sahur today ;-). Well, I do also think Tourism in Indonesia needs to be reorganized somehow. I agree with you. Sadly, Toraja was also failed for GA last weekend, but I've renominated again this morning. See if it passes this time. I'll help you with the Tourism article this afternoon. — Indon (reply) — 04:07, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Ah, forgive me. Maaf lahir batin and happy fasting too. How's fasting in Australia? It should be shorter now, I believe, than Europe.
  2. WP:HD: Perhaps we should not use this peacock words, such as most beautiful beaches, most popular forests. Well, I did write those sentences. How about if we make this article our project, but we need to split the text, like you do the Nature, I'll do the Culture, or anything. So to avoid off-edit conflicts.
  3. Portal: I saw both picture and article appear in the portal. I think they are working now.
Indon (reply) — 08:03, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It looks good, but honestly I don't have time to edit this time. I'll do the copyedit tonight after buka, hahaha. BTW, it seems that you like your new toy ;-). I wish there are more WP tools for mac. — Indon (reply) — 10:53, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For a start, many thanks for patrolling against vandalism. However, I wouldn't classify that edit as being vandalism at all. However, it is good to see that people are on patrol. --Midnighttonight remind to go do uni work! 10:20, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Due to upcoming exams, I won't be active on WP:RFF.[edit]

Hello, Imoeng! I'm glad to see you're back on Wikipedia. Unfortunately, due to upcoming exams which will end on 12 October, I will be sporadically editing, and will have insufficient time to respond to feedback requests on RFF. I noticed that since you have returned, you have not been responding to feedback requests. Could you please continue to respond to feedback requests? We will need to find other experienced editors to respond to requests, or there will be a huge backlog. Imoeng, Tangotango and Saxifrage used to respond regularly to requests; what happened to them? I think two other users - Commander Keane and Richardshusr - would also be interested. We need experienced users who are familiar with Wikipedia policy and friendly to newcomers. --J.L.W.S. Indonesian province pages[edit]

Hi Imoeng. Hope you are comming back from your break soon - the Indonesia wikiproject has slowed down without you :-)

I'd like your opinion on the appropriate stucture for Indonesian province pages. Someone has gone through alot of the province pages recently and created disambiguation pages. So if you go to Riau it is now a disambiguation page, instead of the page for the province. Doing this has also broken dozens (or hundreds) of links to these pages. I think for most provinces like Riau the term is primary associated with the province and so the province page should be directly associated with the term. This follows the same arguement which allowed Java to link to the Java (island) page instead of to a disambiguation page.

The pages in question are Riau, Jambi, Riau Islands, Yogyakarta, etc. Since your an Indonesian, you would be a better judge to decide if its approapriate to be linking directly to the province pages or to disambiguation pages. Let me know what you think. I've already nominated some of these pages to be moved back to where they were, so you can vote on their talk pages when you get a chance. Cheers. (Caniago 08:13, 26 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Thanks for your comments. My opinion is that the disambiguation pages should moved to "Name (Disambiguation)" and the provice pages then moved back to where they were. Then, at the top of each province page we put a link to the Disambiguation page. This is as per Java. Regarding Jambi, I think that each of the links there is of minor significance compared to the province. All that is required to get these pages moved is to register your vote on the Talk page of each of the province pages. The admins will decide if to move the page based on the voting. (Caniago 11:04, 26 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Dab pages[edit]

Again, somebody really likes to disrupt the peace here... hehehe. Let me know first what is the procedure with disambiguation pages. I'm not expert on that. If there is some kind of voting, could you please let me know where it is? I think I would vote Riau as Riau (province), Jambi as Jambi (province) and Yogyakarta as Yogyakarta (city). — Indon (reply) — 10:45, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yogyakarta is the worst. The Yogyakarta (city) is now disappeared into this disambiguation page. Try to click the link, it is redirected back to this disambiguation page. — Indon (reply) — 11:02, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Indon, see the previous section I wrote above. I've already started the process to get these pages moved back. Please register your vote at Riau (province), Jambi (province) and Riau Islands (province). Yogyakarta is an interesting case, and I'm happy to leave it other people to decide whether it should be Yogyakarta (province) or Yogyakarta (city). Maybe the province is better because it has wider scope? (Caniago 11:09, 26 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]
Is there any city called Yogyakarta?? Ahahah, I'm not good at social sciences. Cheers -- Imoeng 11:14, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
:-) One of the interesting cases of the Indonesian government naming several different levels of government with the same name. So there is the Yogyakarta Special Region and then within this the Yogyakarta city. (Caniago 11:24, 26 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]
Yeah and I don't even know what is the difference between Jakarta and DKI Jakarta. Its very confusing. Oh, sorry to reply here, I'm finding references for Indonesia. Be right back. Cheers -- Imoeng 11:32, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the details of how to request a page be moved Wikipedia:Requested_moves (Caniago 11:38, 26 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]

School[edit]

This is how I originally had my Contents page set up until another user said the following remarks. The use of headings is overkill when the information under it is only a couple of lines. You could combine most of the information under two headings ("History" and "School Life" for example). Coupled with that you currently have information that has no connection to the headings placed below them. (e.g. "Exams ...Lady Davina Lewis and Lady Rose Windsor also attended the school" - what does that have to do with exams?)

Should I leave the page as is or change the contents to History, School Life, Reference and External Links? Cowarth 18:31, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Indonesia history[edit]

Imoeng, I absolutely agree with you. Thats why I've nominated Indonesia as the next collaboration. (Caniago 09:51, 27 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Imoeng, I can't promise you anything right now. I'm a bit busy with my real life. I'll get back to you later, but I'm with you ;-). — Indon (reply) — 09:59, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Agre also. ONly detail I would suggest is just the order you do it. Say copy the info to History of Indonesia article, get it right, then you can edit the History section in Indonesia til it is good. Sorry to suggest it again, but look at the history section of Australia. OK, maybe the subject matter is a bit dull compared to Indonesia's history, but it is very well written - IMO. --Merbabu 13:06, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Imoeng. I'm feeling guilty to you. Now, I owe you 3 comments on Tourism in Indonesia, Indonesia and History of Indonesia. I'll make it up to you as soon as (I'm) possible (to go back to WP). I'm very very sorry. ;-) — Indon (reply) — 13:55, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
ha ha - I'm feeling guilty too. Anyway, nice work on the history section in Indonesia. i did some quick editing and it still needs some work i think, but you did a huge effort and got us going in the right direction. I'd like to do more, but I am going away for a few days. --Merbabu 00:18, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, a new editor by the name of Spy Guy did some strange edits to Western New Guinea. I don't know whether he just didn't know and they were good faith edits, or whether it was some kind of POV vandalism. I think it was an honest error but not sure. Can you keep an eye on that page while I am away for the next few days. thanks. --Merbabu 00:22, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Imoeng, good start on the history section. I don't have time for a detailed review right now, but here are a few comments anyway: comparing the section to that for the India and Australia history sections I think there is still too much detail, particularly in the last paragraph. For example, I would get rid of the list of presidents post Suharto. You could however mention briefly the reform process, militant Islamcism (+terrorism) and the spate of natural disasters. (Caniago 01:39, 29 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]
Also, I would change either the VOC picture or the pepper picture to somethign which represents the pre-Dutch history, eg. Borobudur (Caniago 03:28, 29 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thank you. You will also make a lot of GAs, believe me. ;-) Anyway, I've been brave to put the article in FAC and as I'd expected that it would get a lot of objections. Actually, I've a side mission in the FAC, that is to get more inputs. You know that FA reviewers are known as the toughest in WP and sometimes the most ridiculous ones, hahaha. I'd put the article in PR, but the feedback is less than I'd expected. Anyway, thanks. — Indon (reply) — 13:03, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've been looking over some options and I'd like to suggest you contactb Wikipedia:Wikiproject grammar. The do have a general category for pages that need copyediting, but perhaps if you left a special request on the project talk page they'd prioritize your article since it's so near GA and FA. Indonesia GA[edit]

Hey, Imoeng! Apologize for the delay. I had some off wiki "kitten issues" and on-wiki drama regarding the WP:CITE policy and GA requirement of in-line citations. I would like to give Indonesia more then just a slight look but unfortunately I would not be able to give it my full attention till late Wednesday. In the meantime, (if you haven't already) put in a peer review request. I do think FA is a reachable goal and another peer review (after the article has grown since the first) will be helpful. Etymology[edit]

It's interesting, but I'm not really sure if one paragraph of the origin of Indonesia name is notable enough. Wouldn't it be better to put it in the lead section? — Indon (reply) — 14:47, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, if we can expand more than 1 paragraph. Comparing Australia and Indonesia, surely we are still far away :-). — Indon (reply) — 14:53, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Indonesian rupiah[edit]

Thank you for contributing Indonesian rupiah. I'm sure you're an expert on Indonesian matter. Indonesian rupiah is also a part of WikiProject Numismatics. Could you help by making the coin and banknote table more like the ones found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Numismatics/Style/Currency article? Thanks. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 04:35, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I'm not saying that you must. If nobody does it, I eventually will. =) I'm trying to promote the awareness of the standard. Also I'm trying to get all the help I can. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 04:48, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If i may butt in, Imoeng's edits have put some good info in - i am sure he is reluctant to now rework it again. Having ChoChoPK standardise it is fine, as long as content is not removed and it appropriately fits the Indonesian rupiah. Cheers. --Merbabu 04:54, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Scorekeeping[edit]

Thanks for the feedback. I got the citation comment from someone else a while back. If you look at the talk page to the original article, there's a plan to move it over to WikiBooks after it's been cleaned up. It really is more of a "how-to", like you said, and the amount of detail that's here doesn't need to be included in the main encyclopedia. I just wanted to get the cleanup tag removed, along with some examples in the old article that are flat-out wrong.

If you can help me out with what you think needs cited, that would be great. It's hard to come up with citations for things that are just conventions passed down over the years. It's not quite original research, but then again, it is. I could add the "how-to" pages out of lots of teams' programs, but those might fail WP:V also since they're not online.

Let me know what you think. -- dakern74 (talk) 05:05, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Take your time. But just in case, the original baseball scorekeeping article is the one that's being replaced. I see you've added some citeneeded's to that, and I can mirror those, but my rewrite is under my own user page. See User:Dakern74/Baseball_scorekeeping. Just wanted to make sure you were reviewing the right one. -- dakern74 (talk) 08:03, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I rewrote the existing article into the one that's under my user page. But I didn't want to just totally replace the current one without my new version getting reviewed. So really it's User:Dakern74/Baseball_scorekeeping that I'm looking for feedback on. You can certainly use the current one as a basis for comparison, but mine was a proposed replacement. Thx. -- dakern74 (talk) 08:27, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem. The original article has had a cleanup tag since June, which is why I embarked on the rewrite to start with. Glad I caught you before you got too far into it. Just let me know when you get around to it. -- dakern74 (talk) 08:42, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Job Center[edit]

I don't think such specific project like Wikiproject Indonesia should be on that page - we have so many of them that the page would become useless if we put them all in. What you could do, is writte a job description like "Join a regional WikiProject", and describe what working on such a project looks like and how it's done. Happy editing, Zocky | picture popups 21:23, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Probably best to put it in a new box under wikiprojects, and we can merge them letter if we decide that's a good idea. Zocky | picture popups 21:35, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: A request that probably you won't like :P[edit]

That was kind of an ominous title! :) The standards for someone to become an administrator really vary from person to person. By taking a look at current RfAs, you can certainly get an idea of what people consider makes a successful administrator and what doesn't. If you want more specifics, a large number of people have laid out their standards, which you can peruse at your pleasure. You can also take a look at What RFA contributors look for, and the section below it, which should give you some good ideas. I hope I've directed you in the right direction, feel free to let me know if you have any other questions! -- Natalya 16:20, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators have wide range of responsibilities. For a complete picture, the Administrator's reading list pretty much covers everything that administrators have to deal with, and the related policies. Wikipedia:Administrators gives the run-down of the different things that administrators have the ability to do. But more than that, it involves setting a good example and keeping a cool head in disputes, and really helping the encyclopedia. -- Natalya 12:47, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No..no..no. I like the barnstar very much, but as I said that I don't like the name. Has some british in it. ;-). Anyway, don't get stressed by the review. Consider it as an improvement for you. (Hmm.. I'm not going to put requests of reviewing my edit. I'm afraid that someone will peek into my secret bahasa page. :-)) Also that I've made some fun of someone in the Jambi's talk page.) No. If they were not good references, then I've already removed/replaced it directly. I know you've selected websites first, very carefully. I just wanted to know how you select it. And it's clear, so it's good. You know that I'm a bit nitpicky for references, as I've done many reviews about it for GA. Oh, I hope I didn't get you more in stressed. Hmm.. I think you don't need to intrepret more than you should when you read others' comments/questions. Perhaps, that made you stress. :-) Cheers. — Indon (reply) — 06:08, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Imoeng I used you signature as an example in this discussion, please if its an issue comment in the discussion or let me know on my talk page and I'll remove. Gnangarra 06:18, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion is about Users signing with a name different to their User:name and concern that admins are miss representing themselves in discussion like AfD causing confusion for others. The reason for using your name(it was one i could quickly remember) was to demostrate the use of multiple links from a signature. All I was trying to do was highlight that other styles of signatures could cause more confusion. Gnangarra 06:42, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
