Welcome back ![edit]

It gives a strange pleasure to mess up your talk page seconds after you cleaned it up! Anyway, welcome back. Life has been interesting here. New characters, new incidents and plenty of masala stuff ! Tintin (talk) 11:22, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to hear that. I was under the impression that you were away because of work. Tintin (talk) 11:28, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Possible copyvio - EClerx[edit]

I have listed the article EClerx as a possible copyright violation, as the text is identical to that on the EClerx offical website which has "Copyrights 2004-2005. All rights reserved.". Copyrighted text and images are generally not allowed in Wikipedia - see Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines. -- MightyWarrior 00:34, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A short Esperanzial update[edit]

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Mangal pandey gimp.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mangal pandey gimp.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:08, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

August Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

September Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
  5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

Fair use rationale for Image:Prem Nazir Malayalam Star.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Prem Nazir Malayalam Star.JPG. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Season's Greetings[edit]

Hello IndianCow. Its great to hear from you. :) I haven't been around as long as you have been with Wikipedia and didn't see much of you around. I hope all's well with you and your family. Please be active on Wikipedia, we need more editors like you. By the way, you posted fair use images on other users' talk pages, and I had to remove them as they did not qualify for fair use on user talk pages. I hope you don't mind. Warm regards. — Nearly Headless Nick {L} 14:45, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deewar[edit]

IC, we don't need dialogues! That's of no particular use to anyone. We definitely don't need dialogues in Hindi in an English encyclopedia.

Also, you were expanding the synopsis to the point that it was becoming unreadable. Why would anyone want to read that long synopsis? If the reader has seen the movie, he/she doesn't need the synopsis. If the reader hasn't, it isn't going to make sense, and it's going to be boring as anything to boot. Surely you've had a friend tell you the whole plot of a movie he just saw, going on and on and on, and all you want to do is escape! Please don't do that to our readers.

Do consider joining the Indian cinema project at WP:INCINE and helping us expand our coverage. Zora 09:48, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Signing your contributions to talk pages[edit]

Hullo again IC, you can sign by just adding four tildes, like this: ~~~~.

I don't think that Pulp Fiction is a good model to follow! I took one look at that article and MEGO (My Eyes Glazed Over). Recounting the plot detail by detail may satisfy the writer (look how much I know! this is my favorite film!) but it's completely useless to readers. Giving an "analysis" of the film is also completely wrong -- that's one person's opinion. We don't include personal opinions here. We can say that a movie is popular, or that many critics liked it, because we can PROVE those things -- but saying that a film is good, or giving one's own analysis of it, is just opinion and doesn't belong in WP.

If some of the dialogues from Deewar became popular catchphrases, you can say that ... if you can find a quote to prove it. Ditto with opinions about the film's merit, or whether or not it is plagiarism, etc.

I think a better model to follow might be the article on Sholay. There are still things in there that need citations, but on the whole the article is fairly neutral ... which was hard to achieve given how popular it is! There are lots of interesting details in there about the filming, the critical reception, the box office record, etc. That sort of thing would improve the Deewar article a lot. I know that Deewar was very popular and influential, and it would be good to document that. It would involve some research on the net, more than just watching the movie, but it would be much appreciated by other Deewar fans. Zora 10:04, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That accessories section; it just required a </ref> tag. Btw how about proposing the article for a FAC status? just a thought. --hydkat 16:03, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:AIV reporting[edit]

The above IP editors have not been warned by anyone yet and have only made one edit each, which it hard to interpret as vandalism. Please warn the vandals with the appropriate tags before bringing them to WP:AIV. Tags can be found at Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace. Regards, (aeropagitica) 13:38, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information. But still I am not sure as to where I can warn these anonymous users... since they dont have a talk page.. Please advise.--IndianCow 13:41, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a warning to an empty user Talk page will in effect create that page. They will receive a notification that they have new messages as we do. Regards, (aeropagitica) 13:43, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You may add to[edit]

You may add links of news of wrongs of Swadhyay Parivar but pl. do not remove other external links.Swadhyayee 23:07, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be an anon POV pusher who has been vandalizing the article once every 12 hours or so from multiple ip addresses from the same domain.I am sick to death of keeping this guy at bay and do not wish for a protracted edit war and would prefer that the article be sprotected. However, I am loathe to put in a request as I am afraid that capricious admins will pounce upon me so I request that you put up a request for sprotection or try to help out in any way that you can in the article.Thanks.Hkelkar 08:05, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone commented on...[edit]

I think you have a mis understanding here....I am not trying to remove any of the external or content....External links / references only add value to the article..Some sock puppets, vandals and users like you are deleting information [3]I don't know you if you are also a supporter of Didi...

I can't understand as to why you are deleting content related to Vinu Sancharia and Pankaj Trivedi.. The content that I had added had reference and notes... I think this issue needs to be reported to admins....

The above comments are un-signed.

This is wikipedia. The article has to be neutral and not a platform for venting venom against anyone or wrongfully glorifying any person or organisation. Certainly this forum is not for supporters of Didi or of anti-Didi people. Someone while adding contents remove external links being documentary evidence of wrongs of Swadhyay.

I feel the article should be allowed to remain with caution like controversy and Pankaj Trivedi incident. There may be thousands of things wrong in recent times, if someone try to incorporate every wrong, the article will be ugly and create bad impression of editors and dis-interest viewers.

You may check all my edits and you will come to know that Pankaj Trivedi as well controversy has been incorporated by me. Pl. consider to be contended with some amount of caution. Further adding of wrongs will make the article one sided and defamatory. Such thing will lead to further editors fight and people will remove all cautionary links and glorify Dada, Didi or Swadhyay Parivar.

I have been able to convince the other editors of wrongs of Swadhyay Parivar and so the page is reverted back to my edit the moment someone remove "controversy" and "Pankaj Trivedi" incident.

If someone make the article defamatory and one sided, all the cautionary notes might be removed.

Swadhyayee 03:22, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

please put a decent picture of ambi.the one with daadi looks ugly.please

Hindu images[edit]

This once came up for discussion at Wikipedia_talk:Notice_board_for_India-related_topics/archive11#Potential_goldmine. I think the current understanding is that we can use them because they have been used in articles like K. B. Sundarambal. Tintin (talk) 08:17, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Swadhyay Parivar[edit]

I did not mean that you do not take interest in Swadhyay Parivar. I just expressed my desires. I want the article to remain and seen as neutral and trust worthy. Too much of wrong make the article one sided.Swadhyayee 15:41, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you got the wrong guy. I did not upload any photo of the new minister. I just added the fact that he was appointed a minister on 24 October 2006. Thank you

thanks[edit]

thanks for messaging me on my new entry "Judy Fiskin", emphasizing the importance of filling in the edit summary field -- but for a new entry like this, the justification should be evident from the text -- so what would I put in the edit summary box?
