Not a great edit.

if you look at the rest of the article. Johnbod (talk) 01:57, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Hoggardhigh again?

See Special:Contributions/What's_up_now? Looks like the same mix sometimes good edits and serial commas. - BilCat (talk) 02:39, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

@BilCat: I would wait on it for now. This user's edits aren't similar to the usual edits Hoggardhigh made. I see no usage of the serial comma. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 02:59, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Okay. I'll be writing an article for it soon enough... at that point I imagine it'll be enough to just overwrite the redirect, yes? 2Q (talk) 04:04, 13 September 2017 (UTC)

Boom (Walker Hayes Album)

I am aware of the source issues, I am currently in the process of making the page from scratch and adding the sources as I progress. I tend to save often so the chances of an edit with no source is common. Apologies for the issue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CarefulGlobe (talkcontribs) 14:03, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

For the love of god...

...please don't rollback to broken articles! You rolled back to a redundant redirect. Maury Markowitz (talk) 18:29, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

@Maury Markowitz: based on what was said here, I've listed the redirects at WP:RFD. Hope this helps. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 18:43, 14 September 2017 (UTC)
jd, not sure what you are doing here. The redirects by themselves are fine, going to a series article, even if its not in great shape. Maury clearly wasn't suggesting everything be deleted. Why are you reverting stubs with sources in the first place? Did you ensure nothing else existed? That can be difficult with older titles without online sources. -- ferret (talk) 19:20, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

Biased removal of content on the Canada article

I won't comment further on the racist comment you left on the talk page, but it certainly explains your motivation for making the revert on the article. You clearly did not read the source that was provided: http://www.statcan.gc.ca/daily-quotidien/080402/dq080402a-eng.htm It states, and I quote (for educational purposes):

South Asians surpass Chinese as the largest visible minority group
The South Asians became Canada's largest visible minority group in 2006, surpassing Chinese for the first time. The populations of both were well over 1 million.
The 2006 Census enumerated an estimated 1,262,900 individuals who identified themselves as South Asian, a growth rate of 37.7% from 917,100 individuals in 2001. They represented one-quarter (24.9%) of all visible minorities, or 4.0% of the total population in Canada.

The commentary continues from there. Feel free to read it. You have been reverted in both locations, by a different editor in each location. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:41, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

@Walter Görlitz: No comment on the content Jd removed, but please recheck the diffs on the talk page. The editor who left the edit request (YipH) made the racist remark. Jd simply replied to the edit request. -- ferret (talk) 22:47, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
Yes. I'm so sorry. I noticed that Jd22292 did yeoman's work in cleaning up the edit request and applying it. I should really have read the full content of the talk page. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:57, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

Reverting of my changes to the "Roblox" Wikipedia article

Hello, I'm writing to appeal about the decision to revert my changes to the Roblox Article. I don't think my work was nonconstructive, the article stated it needed help so I decided to help. I've been playing the game for six years and I saw the lack of detail in the Roblox article so I decided to give it a hand. I've spent a lot of time into that edit and I don't want to see it go down to waste. The game has a lot of details to add to it and a LOT of history, that's why it may look a little bit much but I was editing and making it look better. I was tired and I took a break but now I came back only to see my work being removed. I hope you've understood and I'm looking forward to a response. Bye! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emeraldos WIKI (talkcontribs) 23:50, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

@Emeraldos WIKI: Thank you for your concerns. The problem with your edit was that it contained an excessive amount of primary sources, which Wikipedia cannot accept per WP:V. Please provide reliable sources for these changes per WP:RS. You can use WP:VG/SE to assist in this. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 23:53, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

It is reliable, it's from the official Roblox Blog Post, where developers from roblox post about updates.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Emeraldos WIKI (talkcontribs) 23:55, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

While I do have to agree with you that it is from the Roblox Blog, its excessive use compared to the rest of the sources make the edit unacceptable. Wikipedia articles mainly need more outside sources than primary for verifiability. While yes, the Roblox Blog can be used for this article, sources from the blog on the article do require careful use. I'm also struggling with Wiki even though I've been around for a few years, but if I missed anything, I'm sure my Talk page watchers can also help you. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 00:10, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

However, there are no other sources explaining updates to ROBLOX, etc. other than the roblox blog. That's why I used it. Emeraldos WIKI (talk) 00:13, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

@Emeraldos WIKI: On Wikipedia, we try to avoid using what we call primary sources. Roughly, this would mean using the subject of the topic to source facts. We much prefer the use of secondary sources, such as Polygon or IGN, for example. This helps us determine what information might actually be important for the long term. For example, most updates to Roblox aren't very important in the long run, even if there was a blog post. But big changes or updates that other sources cover are good to add because outside people took notice. In particular, running change logs like you added towards the end of your edit are generally not covered on Wikipedia, see Wikipedia:NOTCHANGELOG for more information on that. -- ferret (talk) 00:15, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

Oh, I didn't know. I started yesterday so... rip. Put back my edits please so I can edit it to use secondary sources. I don't want to rewrite ALL of it, one hour of work gone down the drain... Emeraldos WIKI (talk) 00:17, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

@Emeraldos WIKI: The edit is still in the edit history. You should be able to go back to the revision you applied and copy the text you added and continue working from there. Of course, as WP:NOTCHANGELOG says, not every single update needs to be added. If there's no reliable sources for the update, as Ferret described to you, it's best not to add it. However, I did restore one paragraph that seemed okay, so you should be all set from there. Happy editing! jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 00:20, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

What you did at Talk:War on Drugs#Semi-protected edit request on 6 August 2017 is absolutely not how to respond to {{Edit semi-protected}} requests. If you're not going to do the work to actually read and understand them, and implement/decline based on the merits of the requests, please stop responding to them and let others deal with them.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  18:35, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

Jd, this is not the first time you've had messages like this, including from me. I think it would be a good idea to step back from this process, or at least spend some time watching again how other editors are responding to cases like these. Edit requests are not a "must be answered as fast as possible to clear the queue" type of area. Snap responses aren't particularly helpful. 21:44, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

I deleted too quickly two redirects (European Telecommunication Satellite Organization and European Telecommunications Satellite Organisation) thinking that the new article was already moved to the Mainspace. Thank you for your vigilance. --PeSa (talk) 16:08, 25 September 2017 (UTC)

@PeSa: Not a problem. Once the page is moved into the mainspace, consider retargeting the redirects rather than deleting them. You may also apply G6 speedy deletion ({{db-move}}) on the redirect you wish to have deleted in preparation for the move if that's the case. See the documentation of the linked template for details on how to apply this criterion. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 16:12, 25 September 2017 (UTC)

Mashhad

Hello Jd22292, I'm just writing to inquire about your addition of a COI tag to the Mashhad page last month. I'm wonder why you used that tag instead of, say, POV. Is there a particular user in the history that you think has a conflict of interest? I do tend to agree, something does seem off about the page, but I'm just wondering if maybe another tag should be used instead of COI. One possibility: I notice there are many red links---this may be the result of someone just copying and pasting a machine translation from another language (Farsi would be a safe bet, but you never know), and that page has the (original?) COI edits. Your thoughts? Paris1127 (talk) 06:10, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

@Paris1127: Thank you for your inquiry. I had added the tag after seeing edits to the Metro section by Khakestary1363, who at the time had disclosed their connection with the "Mashhad Railway Operation Company", as described here. To me, it looked like their edit was made with said COI. Now that I look at it today, I'm not opposed to the COI template changed to a POV one on that article. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 15:50, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
@Jd22292: Hmmmm... That does sound like a conflict of interest. Reading the COI template page, if he declared his COI on the article's talk page, his user page, or in an edit summary on the page, the template is redundant and not used. There's nothing in the talk page, no user page, and nothing in his edit summaries, so COI would work on the Mashhad page. However, since it's limited to one section, you might consider changing the COI tag to {{COI|section}} on the relevant section. Maybe put something on the Talk Page (Mashhad and the subway system's) about it? Thanks for the clarification and your vigilance! Paris1127 (talk) 16:26, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

Dead By Daylight Lore, Background and Characters

Hi again, jd. It's me, Rook Bishop.

I know about the edit, and tbh I was kind of expecting someone to take it down and tell me what I needed to do properly and I know about citations. But I have to ask, what did I do wrong? I added my sources to the edit and cited them when I did, but I just don't know where I stuffed up. If you could show me how to do it properly then add my work, that would really help me understand how to do this stuff properly.

Gracias, amigo (if that's how you spell it right anyway) Rook Bishop (talk) 03:53, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

@Rook Bishop: A good place to start would be at WP:RS. The sources you used in your edit are considered primary sources, which Wikipedia considers as material from domains closely associated with a subject. deadbydaylight.com, in the context of the Dead by Daylight article, is considered a primary source. A typical rule of thumb when editing on Wikipedia is: if a particular fact about a subject is backed by primary sources and no reliable source covers it, it's probably not appropriate to include in the encyclopedia. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 23:08, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
Ummm... I'm sorry but you've lost me. Yes, I got this info directly from the game's official website, but my other source was Gamepedia's wiki on the game and I already know that publicly-edited websites are not considered reliable. Also, if it comes straight from the main source (i.e.: the game's website and the game itself), how is it a bad thing?

I'm sorry, but I just need someone to give me the bluff's notes otherwise I can't understand it clearly and properly. I know that's not an official symptom of ASD but I've had a very... unique life.

Anyways, yours truly, Rook Bishop (talk) 08:45, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

Deprod: Anik Matern

Hello, I have removed the BLPPROD tag you placed on Anik Matern because at the time you tagged it the article had one source in the form of an external link. Yes the EL is IMDb and thus unreliable, but the low bar for BLPPROD nomination requires that the article have no sources in any form, regardless of whether they are reliable. I have no prejudice against regular PROD or AFD. —KuyaBriBriTalk 01:48, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

Ships in the Night by Vicki Lawrence

Jd22292, I will tell you why Ships in the Night (Vicki Lawrence album) by Vicki Lawrence should be kept on wikipedia, because it was missing from that site and nobody had an article about that album from 1974, so it cannot be deleted. Thanks for asking.

Judging by your contributions directly before this closure, I can only assume that you did not spend the required time to read this discussion. If you had, you would realize that a simple "no consensus" closure is inappropriate here. Your closure gave preference to a target that nobody supported. Additionally, per WP:BADNAC, "Non-admin closure is not appropriate (when) the outcome is a close call (especially where there are several valid outcomes) or likely to be controversial. Such closes are better left to an administrator." Therefore, I'm going to have to ask you to revert your closure. Thanks, -- Tavix (talk) 14:57, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

Yooka-Laylee Jontron Racist

I got rid of one word. How is that disruptive? It didn't change the point of the topic or change it in any way, I got rid of the word "racist" because that's a subjective statement and not an objective fact. JonTron made statements on Sargon's stream, he didn't make "racist" statements. Are people gonna read that article and think "Oh no, the word "racist" is removed?! All is lost!"? No, they're not. So again, how is removing one word disruptive? — Preceding unsigned comment added by KillThad (talkcontribs) 02:46, 13 October 2017 (UTC)

Capacitor input filter

OK, I did not intend to do battle on this article. Another user pointed out to me that this article was essentially false. The worst kind of content in the encyclopedia. Nor do I think the article worthy of simple deletion - it's a reasonable and worthy topic, one not detailed anywhere else. Should we have a placeholder article page without content? Ordinarily, we don't. But I'm going to make a contribution to this page, as well as create the companion page "Choke input filter". I will concede that SOME capacitor input filters are configured as pi filters, but pi filters are used in many other contexts, like speaker crossovers, and are certainly not synonymous with capacitor input filters. They should have their own article. But I'm not going to create that page. Nor should links to pi filters refer back to the Capacitor input page. Now I have to go and fix them again, since I intend to refrain from any mention of pi filters in the capacitor input article, to avoid future confusion. Cut me some slack here, while go get my ancient tube circuit handbooks. Sbalfour (talk) 01:57, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

No worries. Tavix and I at least tried to assure you that blanking a page is not the appropriate way to get an article deleted if there are multiple authors. Besides, WP:G7 does not apply when multiple users author an article. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 01:59, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

Your reverts

Hello, I noticed you were reverting my additions of {{long comment}} as the pages were not disambiguations. You could have done the same thing (notifying me of WP:SIA) without removing the {{long comment}}s with a note on my talk page, or a dummy edit if you felt it should be reflected in the page history. Long comment puts enough text on the page to remove it from Special:ShortPages. Can you explain why you are removing the long comment such that the pages continue to be on ShortPages? Hamtechperson 19:55, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

@Hamtechperson: Long comment really is only necessary for pages that have sufficient information that they do not need to be listed on ShortPages. ShortPages lately has been plagued with SIAs that need formatting, additional categories, etc. The two you removed, however, did not have a category, which is what I was trying to locate. In addition, users like Xezbeth also leave their surname SIAs on ShortPages, most likely for those reasons: they either could not find any additional information to improve their own SIA and left it to others to help, or just to hope that a long comment is added. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 19:59, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
Surname articles don't need extra categories. If you're adding them just for the sake of taking them off of Special:Shortpages then you should stop, the long comment template is better. —Xezbeth (talk) 21:20, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
Also please don't spam my watchlist with pointless spacing edits. I'll revert out of principle if you keep doing it. —Xezbeth (talk) 21:25, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

Hello Globe bourgeois. It might help if you talk to Pkbwcgs, who made the reversion in the first place. Hello. I reverted EDEN being included on the Monstercat artists category that displays at the bottom of the Eden (musician) page because this artist has not released a song on the label Monstercat under the alias of EDEN and is under a completely different label now. Displaying this artist in this large list does not make sense currently. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nevermeltsounds (talkcontribs) 03:26, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

@Nevermeltsounds: Thank you for discussing. Past histories of artists must be kept in order to aid a reader in better understanding that artists' career. Note earlier in the lead that the artist was once known as The Eden Project, an alias which has had at least one release on the label. It makes sense in the matter for historical reasons. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 03:40, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
@Jd22292: Thanks for the response. While his alias was The Eden Project previously, the Monstercat roster chart is not relevant to the artist currently. The table at the bottom of the article indicates that the artist is currently affiliated with the record label, and he has not been since early 2015. In the category, you should only include artists who have officially appeared on the Monstercat roster, and neither The Eden Project nor EDEN were ever included. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nevermeltsounds (talkcontribs) 03:45, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

Wiktionary

Please do not prioritize Wiktionary links over a disambiguation. It's very misleading. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 04:45, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your message. I'm not clear what you are referring to, could you explain a bit more. SilkTork (talk) 11:44, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
Looking back at your contributions I note that you reverted my edit on Defective on arrival. I think that might be what you are talking about. There was (and again now is after your revert) a tag on the article indicating that the article is a dictionary definition. One of the early principles on Wikipedia is that it is intended to be an encyclopedia, not a dictionary. Wiktionary was created to serve that purpose. When there are articles which are dictionary definitions rather than encylopedic entries, then we move them to Wiktionary, though we may leave a link per WP:INTERWIKI. I hope that explains my edit. If not, please ask further, or consult another experienced Wikipedian. I have restored the edit. SilkTork (talk) 12:05, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Dead By Daylight Lore and Background

Hi again, mate!

If you forgot me, I don't blame you, but a while ago, you reverted my edits for Dead By Daylight when I expanded on the background and plot sections. I know that those edits were not cited by reliable sources, but that's not what this is about. What I'm talking about is making a section that's like a list of characters and their backgrounds according to the game, as well as more details regarding the locales. I know that there's already sections for all three of those, BUT they discuss their gameplay mechanics and nothing else. I just want to have them clarified because, even though their backgrounds can be as short as one paragraph, it's still worth discussion and detail. Like detailing how each killer plays and talking about the survivor's unique perks.

While we both know who Micheal Myers, Leatherface and Freddy Kruger are, it's still necessary to talk about their portrayals in the game; like how Kruger uses his classic portrayal by Robert Englund and how Leatherface uses his attire from the first movie.

Anyhow, it's your call. I love this game and I just hate lack of detail with games. Yeah, it's just an indie game that only just got console release versions and I know that Wikipedia isn't always keen on details on certain topics such as video games, but I just HAD to bring it up because it was just bothering me. As one mentally ill guy to another, please consider this for me. I have the same problems that you listed on your talk page. I don't know how severe you have it, buuuuut... yeah. Anyway, Bye! Rook Bishop (talk) 22:29, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

@Rook Bishop: "I know that those edits were not cited by reliable sources, but that's not what this is about." - With all due respect, Wikipedia is built on verifiability and reliable sources. If we can find sources for Freddy and Leatherface's in-game names (I will start looking), then I think it should be safe to mention them in a note template. The reason we are going by their classic names is because that's what they are referred to in the press releases, third party sources, and the official site. That's not to say you are wrong about anything; your P.O.V. on this matter is actually very reasonable. But this system is in place mainly to avoid original research, inaccuracies, ETC. DarkKnight2149 15:05, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
This also applies to the lore in general. We need to verify such information, for both confirmation and notability reasons. DarkKnight2149 15:22, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
@Darkknight2149: Yeah... To be more specific, I DID cite my sources, but I used info directly from the game's official site and for reasons not clear to me that's not allowed, not to mention that I'm not sure if YouTube videos count either. Also, for something as simple as Freddy's and LF's in-game names, they're called the Nightmare and the Cannibalism respectively to them. Not very creative, I know, but that's what the site says. Again, I don't know what I did wrong by using the game's site.

Also, when I said something along the lines of adding a separate page with the characters and whatnot, just what ARE the specifics on things like that? Because, on one hand, summing up who, what, why and how is easy, but on the other hand their separate backstories, especially the original killers from the game, that require more than a few sentences. The Doctor (a.k.a.: Herman Carter), for example, excelled in psychology and the human mind before being hired by the CIA to discover new Enhanced interrogation techniques via Electroconvulsive therapy and eventually went insane looking for a way to control the human mind by doing so. And where did I get it? From the game's site's manual: http://www.deadbydaylight.com/manual/. Look at it yourself, and you'll see all the lore and storytelling from the game there. But then again, like I said (I think?), I'm new to this. Rook Bishop (talk) 12:25, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

@Rook Bishop: You'll have to ask JD for his specific reasoning for removing the lore (it might have been a question of WP:FANCRUFT). But, in terms of the killer names, I'm looking at the official manual right now. Michael Myers is referred to as The Shape, but Freddy and Leatherface are called by their proper names. I still don't see a reliable source for "The Cannibal" or "The Nightmare", and YouTube generally can't be used as a citation. DarkKnight2149 15:32, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

AIV and vandalism

Hi, I've noticed that you report a lot of users as being vandals that aren't clear vandalism to AIV. AIV is only for vandalism or spamming. Things such as minor changes in an infobox are not vandalism. They might not even be bad changes. As a general rule, if you think that an admin needs to spend any time deciding whether or not an edit is vandalism, it isn't vandalism. TonyBallioni (talk) 02:49, 23 November 2017 (UTC)

Rocket League x Monstercat Vol. 1

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocket_League_x_Monstercat_Vol._1 Well... I just do that edit because all the other cover art info of Monstercat album was done like this : The cover art for (name of the album) but you undo it :/ . I'll wait for your reply to re-edit the wiki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ItzNath (talkcontribs) 18:48, 23 November 2017 (UTC)

(edit conflict) @ItzNath: It does not have to be the same across all such articles. Dissident93 just reduced the caption to "Cover art" for brevity reasons. I am unsure if there's a policy in WP:VG that says this. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 18:51, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
It should be self-evident what the image is, especially as it includes the title on it. If something can be clearly explained in fewer words, then that is the ideal way. If the other Monstercat albums have this problem, then they should be edited as well. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 19:12, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
