Welcome![edit]

Hello, Jamesnewton.indycollab, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, ask me on my talk page. You can also type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Hello Jamesnewton.indycollab. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Jamesnewton.indycollab. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jamesnewton.indycollab|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 16:35, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

MfD nomination of Draft:Adam Sandoval[edit]

Draft:Adam Sandoval, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:Adam Sandoval and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Draft:Adam Sandoval during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Orange Mike | Talk 21:53, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How can it be up for deletion when it was just published today and all we have received is emails from people saying this is wrong, that is wrong, and so on.
I am Adam Sandoval’s agent and am making this for him. I have managed Adam for nearly five years.
is there anything that we did right?! 152.117.79.118 (talk) 21:58, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi IP 152.117.79.118. Assuming you're Jamesnewton.indycollab and just forgot to log in to your account when posting, please read WP:LOGGEDOUT. While you're not required to log in to edit, it would sure make things less confusing for others if you did so because then they would at least know it's "you" or at least your account their addressing.
You actually did do something right so to speak because the account username you chose is most likely OK per WP:Username policy#Usernames implying shared use. Whether you knew that to be the case, it's probably prevented your account from being simply blocked by an administrator for a username violation.
As for the other stuff, a Wikipedia page can be nominated for WP:DELETION at anytime if someone feels their a justifiable reason for doing so. Maybe Wikipedia:Why was the page I created deleted? will help explain this further. I also suggest you take a look at Wikipedia:Everything you need to know and Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not for some more general information about Wikipedia, and perhaps you and Sandoval might also want to look at Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing for reference.
Finally, the most important thing for you to read is Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure because a failure to comply with this policy will almost certainly lead to your account being blocked. I suggest you make sure you properly disclose your connection to Sandoval on your user page as explained in Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure#How to disclose page before making any more edits to the draft or anywhere else. If using Template:Paid is too difficult to figure out, just post a general statement stating what you've stated above about being Sandoval's agent or official representative. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:46, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing is recommended reading. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:39, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

AfC notification: Draft:Adam Sandoval has a new comment[edit]

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Adam Sandoval. Thanks! Theroadislong (talk) 22:10, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Jamesnewton.indycollab, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jamesnewton.indycollab|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 22:18, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

April 2023[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.
You have failed to comply with the mandatory Paid contributions disclosure, and you are writing an unreferenced draft biography. Please read Wikipedia:Writing Wikipedia articles backward. Cullen328 (talk) 17:28, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
how am i supposed to put the {{paid|employer=name of employer|client=name of client}} code if i cannot type in my user page? that is what it says in the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure, so how am i suppose to disclose it if i cannot edit it? Jamesnewton.indycollab (talk) 03:45, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You had your chance to comply without being blocked but you declined the opportunity to comply and continued editing in defiance of the policy. And so you got blocked. Here is my recommendation. Fully comply right here on your user talk page, and submit a properly formatted and fully responsive appeal of your block. If you are unblocked, it will take only a few seconds to copy your disclosure over to your user page, and that would likely be a condition of accepting your appeal. Cullen328 (talk) 03:57, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is my first time making a page on Wikipedia so I'm sorry if it seemed like I wasn't complying. I just wasn't sure on what to do because people kept mentioning everything that was wrong with the page so i was just trying to figure out what to do first. What is the first step to appeal my block? Jamesnewton.indycollab (talk) 04:43, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's right there above your head (so to speak) in the salmon-colored box. --Orange Mike | Talk 04:44, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I was submitted a draft to try and make it become public and I was showered with a lot of things i did wrong. I tried to fix it all as much as i could and talked to more people about how to fix my draft. Than I forgot to put down on the draft that I am a paid editor. When i get unblocked I will instantly figure out how to disclose that I am a paid editor and fix everything wrong with my draft and make it up to Wikipedia standards.

Decline reason:

No. Figure it out now, while you are blocked. You have all the time you need. And you aren't going to be unblocked to continue writing in subject areas for which you have a conflict of interest. If that's your only goal here, this is the end of the line. Yamla (talk) 23:51, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I was originally blocked because I did not disclose that I was being paid for my work. I thought I had to be unblocked in order to disclose I was being paid, but I have now disclosed it on my User page. I am wanting to be unblocked so that I can change and edit my Draft: Adam Sandoval and i would like to be able to ask questions and get help from administrators and editors on this site to make sure everything is correct on my draft. I know some of the things that I need to change like adding more to the references, but I would like to be able to ask the help desk and other sources in hope of being able to publish my draft and make it up to Wikipedia standards. I am new at this and I am sorry if I have been unclear or confused about the standards and requirements about my draft or previous errors that have occurred. Thank you for reading

Decline reason:

You have already been told you won't be unblocked to, at this time, make conflict of interest related edits. We'll want to first see a good edit history of edits in other areas before permitting you to edit in the area of your conflict of interest. 331dot (talk) 21:17, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
