Malawi Airlines

Good day I have noted that you have changed my edits with regards to Malawi Airlines.

Please be advised that Malawi Airlines returned the Boeing 737-700 (ET-ARB) on 30th November 2022, the aircraft was replaced with a Boeing 737-800 (ET-APO) as of 01st December 2023.

I am unaware as to how to attach a picture here hence kindly refer to various blogs online. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anassayed737 (talkcontribs) 16:03, 20 February 2023 (UTC)

Malawi Airlines fleet

Dear Jetstreamer

It seems you do not want to agree with me on the Malawi Airlines fleet.

Our Boeing 737-700 was withdrawn on the 30th of November 2022. Due to the fact that passenger demand has been increasing in the recent years, the airline decided to lease a Boeing 737-800 (ET-APO) which has an increased passenger capacity compared to its predecessor.

Hence, the Boeing 737-700 was returned to Ethiopian Airlines and currently Malawi Airlines does not operate any Boeing 737-700.

I kindly urge you to do your research before updating as this is becoming way of publishing misinformation to the public.

I don't know why you say "Our Boeing" but it seems you are editing the article on behalf of the company; you have a conflict of interest here. In any case, you should not use the sources in the article and pick the information from them at your discretion. On the other hand, the url above is not in the article so you cannot base your changes on references not included there.--Jetstreamer Talk 13:05, 25 February 2023 (UTC)

Qantas Fleet revision 1141859835

I don't understand why you reverted my deletion of the A220 from the Qantas Mainline Fleet page.

I had fully referenced the fact the A220's on order are to be operated by National Jet Systems using multiple sources that you clearly didn't check as if you had, you would have seen I didn't just 'reference another Wikipedia article' as claimed. 49.187.154.57 (talk) 16:24, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

Your edit summary [1] said "For references, see Qantaslink fleet page with citations." Say no more.--Jetstreamer Talk 12:54, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

revision 1140014438 (Qantas)

Hello Jetstreamer, you recently removed a photo from the Qantas article due to the caption being unverifiable. I believe that the reference to Qantas' efforts in design in the relevant section justifies inclusion of the image as an example. Please also see this source in particular. The image itself seems to check-out as well, unless I'm missing something. Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 14:25, 18 February 2023 (UTC)

Hello again, I'm trying to improve visual content related to design (as well as the overall quality of design related articles), and I'd like to add the Qantas Noritake porcelain designs to the "Design, hospitality, and lifestyle" section of Qantas article. Could you please let me know your thoughts regarding captions (for reference, your comment regarding this matter was "Unverifiable caption")? Thank you, Cl3phact0 (talk) 06:13, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

@Cl3phact0: Sorry for not responding in a due time. I read all the messages above. Give me a couple of days to elaborate a reply.--Jetstreamer Talk 23:22, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. No rush. (Also, see: http://www.qantasnewsroom.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/here.pdf) It seems like a valid inclusion vis-à-vis the company's design related activities. Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 05:00, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
@Cl3phact0: Much delayed response, but I took a look at the pdf above and it seems ok to include it as a source along with the image. On the other hand, the inclusion of the image in the article is warranted as its description says it all.--Jetstreamer Talk 20:21, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
Great, thanks! -- Cl3phact0 (talk) 20:40, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
I've added the photo as per above. Not sure I did the cite properly. Apparently not, as it's showing an error that looks like this: "{{cite web}}: External link in |website= (help)" (the nowikis are mine – didn't want to inadvertently introduce an error on your Talk page). What am I missing? Appreciate any help. Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 11:01, 8 April 2023 (UTC)
Please ignore previous. Found the error (my dumb mistake: left full URL in "Name of the website"). All good.

Qatar Airways fleet

You have reverted this page to such an old version that it now contains blatantly false information. In addition, Qatar Executive is its own page and should not be detailed throughly on the main page. SurferSquall (talk) 14:34, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

Also, per WP:3RR I never committed and edit warring violation. SurferSquall (talk) 14:35, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
You do not need to violate 3RR for warring. Separately, the edit you made to Aerolíneas Argentinas was reverted. Images are not considered reliables sources, and neither is planespotters.net.--Jetstreamer Talk 11:02, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
How? The image is of the plane in question, parked at an Argentinian airport. SurferSquall (talk) 14:37, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
Images can be easily manipulated with a number of programs.--Jetstreamer Talk 22:36, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
Who would bother manipulating such an image, though? SurferSquall (talk) 03:38, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
Planespotters.net is not automatically considered unreliable- there is an active debate about that, yes, but it has not reached a consensus. SurferSquall (talk) 14:39, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
If in doubt, do not use it.--Jetstreamer Talk 22:36, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
Most airline articles have it as a reference. SurferSquall (talk) 03:39, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
That means nothing.--Jetstreamer Talk 20:41, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
per ch-aviation the aircraft is delivered. SurferSquall (talk) 03:42, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
Your last edit was reverted. You did not add a new source supporting your changes. I also left you a warning regarding the addition of unsourced changes.--Jetstreamer Talk 20:41, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
??????/ I gave the source SurferSquall (talk) 01:17, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
You did not. Adding a source means using it a reference in the article, not in the edit summary.

Hello

Hi there, I see you warned User:2607:FEA8:2280:2BC0:6569:FDD6:B762:4E3 about their unconstructive edits on 3 May. They have been continuing their unconstructive editing under different IP addresses as can be seen in the history of the Blake River Megacaldera Complex article. I've warned them myself but they keep at it. I'm not sure what to do. Volcanoguy 23:36, 12 May 2023 (UTC)

Report at WP:AIV?--Jetstreamer Talk 11:45, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
Done. I'm not very familiar with reporting vandalism because it doesn't normally happen on articles I work on. Volcanoguy 16:08, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

TAAG Destinations

Please do not make inaccurate edits, like you did to the List of TAAG Destinations, removing the Seasonal designation for Porto. TAAG stopped servicing Porto during the pandemic (and therefore should have been listed as a Terminated destination. However, this past week TAAG announced that it will resume service to Porto during the December/January holiday season only, making Porto now a seasonal destination. This information is readily available with a five-second online search. 190.193.132.212 (talk) 12:01, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

It would not be difficult for you to find a source and add it to the article then. The url for the current supporting source is dead. Read WP:BURDEN.--Jetstreamer Talk 14:01, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
I added a source newer than the one you used [2], and it says the route is terminated by TAAG. You should first learn to find the correct information before labelling other experienced users' edits as vandalism [3].--Jetstreamer Talk 14:30, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
Ahunt unhelpfully removed my post, so I am quoting it again, "The route was terminated. Now, TAAG announced last week that it is resuming OPO on a seasonal basis in December/January. DT 654 departing from LAD to OPO at 11:30 PM arriving 6:15 AM; return flight is DT 655 departing OPO at 9:15 AM and arriving at 6:00 PM. This is not speculation. The flights are loaded and available for sale in Amadeus, Sabre, and TAAG's website (see: https://www.taag.com/en-gb/booking/select/?origin1=LAD&destination1=OPO&departure1=2023-12-15&adt1=1&chd1=0&inf1=0&currency=AOA).
YOU are the one that needs to first have correct information before speaking."
You have the nerve to go onto the talk page for my IP address, state that adding incorrect information is vandalism, and then accuse me of doing so.
However, I have not only sourced an article about the reintroduction of the LAD-OPO on a seasonal basis, but I also cited TAAG's website itself!
In the comment section of TAAG destinations when reverting my edit regarding Porto, you state that the connections offered are two-segment flights. That is a misreading of the source (TAAG's website). The flights are being offered on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday (in December) and also on those same days of the week plus Saturday in January from LAD to OPO with the return flight from OPO to LAD being the next day. If you look at another day when TAAG does not fly nonstop, TAAG will offer for sale a connection via MAD (flying IB between MAD to OPO).
I provided December 15 as an example from TAAG's website for the aforementioned flight (DT 654 from LAD to OPO).
While much on Wikipedia can be subject to interpretation, these flights in December and January are a black-and-white fact that leaves no room for interpretation. TAAG has publicly announced the resumption of seasonal service to Porto and has begun to sell tickets on those flights.
I have been editing articles with blatantly incorrect or out-of-date facts for 20 years. Don't assume that I don't know what I am talking about or that I should use the Sandbox. You can't misinterpret the source (by saying that it is selling connections while ignoring the days of the week that there are nonstop flights).
On this one, you are in the wrong. 190.193.132.212 (talk) 01:12, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
Yes, you are right and I am wrong. The link you provided above leaves no room for doubt. Please accept my apologies.--Jetstreamer Talk 12:49, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

Planespotters

Show me where there has ever been a CONSENSUS that planespotters is an unreliable source. It is one the the best sources we have! Do not revert my edits solely because you believe the source to be unreliable. For a source to be unreliable, there has to have been a consensus that it is, or it needs to be blatantly obvious. Planespotters is neither. SurferSquall (talk) 01:34, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) comment: see WP:PLANESPOTTERS and Wikipedia:WikiProject_Aviation/Resources#Common_sources_to_avoid. - Ahunt (talk) 01:38, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
Where on either of those is there a consensus? I see none SurferSquall (talk) 02:26, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
@SurferSquall: The disclaimer says Planespotters relies on a number of websites, blogs among them. Since you cannot distinguish what information comes from where it cannot be considered reliable as blogs are not. It is not that difficult to understand.--Jetstreamer Talk 16:48, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
Again I ask, what alternatives will you suggest instead? SurferSquall (talk) 20:07, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

Bundled AFD on 14 Airline destination lists

I’ve probably commented enough in this AFD so I thought it best to leave this as a talk-page response to you: you’ve raised the prospect of all of the airline destination lists being deleted, but (speaking only for myself) I don’t intend to launch directly into a mass AFD of all of the airline destination lists if this passes. The 14 articles are particularly low-quality ones selected because they are easy candidates for deletion, and shouldn’t necessarily be considered representative of the whole.

I think a more sensible approach would just be to let things lie for some time after the AFD closes (3 months? 6 months? a year? Two years? more?) and give the community some space to decide what they want to do with the airline destination list article set. That wouldn’t have to be a discussion at AFD and wouldn’t be locked in to a keep/delete decision. That might be deletion, or merging, moving to a fandom wiki, or some way of improving them to avoid the WP:NOT/WP:CORP/WP:NOTNEWS/WP:OR/WP:V issues that I and the other the delete !voters have highlighted.

I realise that this is not what you want nor a welcome message, I’m sorry you are worried that much work by you and others will be wiped out. Ultimately, there is no deadline but something had to be done eventually about this article-set that has been controversial since 2006 at least. FOARP (talk) 09:23, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

Not jetstreamer, but I’ve commented a bit and I can merge the 14 pages in question back into their main article if you’d like. I’d just hate to see the content deleted entirely. SurferSquall (talk) 20:08, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
The issue is at AfD, so you need to let that process come to a conclusion first. - Ahunt (talk) 20:46, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
Hi SurferSquall. Thanks for responding. For the 14 articles, the WP:V issues mean I t’s not clear to me what could be merged that is reliably sourced, but then I don’t know everything. If you think there is content that can be merged, go ahead and make that proposal in the AFD as an alternative. FOARP (talk) 20:49, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

Fleet totals

Thank you for updating the fleets tables on airline articles, but please remember to also update the “Total” number at the bottom of the table and in the airline infobox. SurferSquall (talk) 18:18, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

South African Airways Intercontinental Route Resumptions

Hi, you left a message on my talk page recently, regarding the route resumptions of South African Airways, well, if you see in my edit, I had added in the place of São Paulo/Guarulhos route "Resumes 31 October 2023" and it is of course resuming on 31 October as they are starting the Cape Town-São Paulo route on 31 October, it is also written in the article of the airport + the source of simple flying given already. And now if you see another edit made by me in the same article, I had added the Focus city cell on Cape Town, well if see the history of SAA, it has maintained it's focus city at Cape Town since it's very first flight, and when it got bankrupt, it had also kept it's only route to Cape Town and it is still the airline's focus city, so please prevent doing vandalism. New pages patrol newsletter

Hello Jetstreamer,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

Air Serbia E195

PlaneSpotters is very reliable source. For every change on the website they require strong source. Indeed, the fourth E195 is OY-GDC and it is already painted. Please do not remove sources from PlaneSpotters. PikiLuka (talk) 19:15, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

WP:PLANESPOTTERS. Say no more.--Jetstreamer Talk 21:19, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
OK, I don't want to argue about PlaneSpotters, although it is very reliable because for every change they require strong proof and then they check for it. Try Yourself to send a request for editing something on PlaneSpotters without valid proof. You will immediately be rejected.
However, there is a link to the picture of OY-GDC in Air Serbia's colors. That should be more than enough to believe that the plane is coming, right? Or You believe that the aircraft is painted and not coming?
Tell me please which sites are reliable? People here are using "Zamaaero" as a source. That site, for example, is VERY UNRELIABLE because it's author is writing based on rumors and his own feelings, not based on facts because he doesn't like the truth. Hence that cite is considered as reliable?! PikiLuka (talk) 21:44, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
Images are usually considered not reliable as they can easily be manipulated with any application. Reliable sources: Flightglobal, the monthly lists released by Airbus, any press release coming from Embraer or the lessors, etc.--Jetstreamer Talk 21:31, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

Accidents/RAM/RJ

Copied to: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aviation/Aviation accident task force
The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

Hi there - I saw this edit you made on Royal Air Maroc correctly undoing an addition as unsourced. This accident actually has its own article 1975 Agadir Royal Air Maroc Boeing 707 crash. However, this led me to two questions which I thought I'd bring up:

  • The accident is listed on Royal Jordanian but not on Royal Air Maroc. I know that accidents are usually listed on the operating carrier's article, but I'm not sure what policy/guideline that comes from. I'm unsure if this should be the case when it's a charter flight for another carrier.
  • It seems the article was renamed last month without discussion. I'm not sure what the correct name would be here but it seems inconsistent to me that we would list the crash under Royal Jordanian, but not Royal Air Maroc, while the name of the article is "Royal Air Maroc crash".

Figured I'd just ask these questions here for you given your involvement and knowledge of aviation style/guidelines (and tag @Steelpillow and @Ckfasdf who are also knowledgable) for discussion. Avgeekamfot (talk) 18:40, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

I don't know much about air crash articles, so I have posted a request for help at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aviation. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 21:01, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
@Avgeekamfot: it's an interesting question. I guess the main question is on how we treat accident that involves charter flight for another carrier. I don't think we have guideline or consensus of such case yet, see WP:AVTITLE. And, I also think it would better to discuss it on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aviation/Aviation accident task force instead of other editor talkpage. Ckfasdf (talk) 22:35, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
That's fair. I initially started writing on Jetstreamer's talk page to explain why I was undoing his revert, then it morphed into questions that I thought you + @Steelpillow would also be helpful with. I'll move this discussion where you suggest. Avgeekamfot (talk) 23:03, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

Hello

Sorry don't want to sound rude in any shape way or form, nonetheless i will like to point out that an image especially of the founder of the Airlines won't hurt the article in any shape or form since it doesn't have a very large amounts of image as other articles have. CtasACT (talk) 01:34, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for your patience and hard work, even being one of the major contributors to make Ethiopian Airlines and other articles reach good status. CtasACT (talk) 02:38, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
Do you realise that you inserted images in the middle of paragraphs, therefore breaking the text flow?--Jetstreamer Talk 10:32, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

Lifetimelucid contributions

Most airlines have added a delete tag to the destinations section and pages from their pages. [4], [5], [6] Eray08yigit (talk) 17:08, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Some of them have been removed already.--Jetstreamer Talk 12:01, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

Qatar Airways

I think it's best that some images that you removed on the Qatar Airways article be kept on the article. Would like to hear your opinion on this though. Yoohhooy (talk) 22:26, 16 March 2024 (UTC)

Take it to talk.--Jetstreamer Talk 14:35, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
I will begin making a "Qatar Airways fleet" article. Please let me know if you have conflicting opinions. Yoohhooy (talk) 18:54, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
You first wanted just images in the article and now you want to create a new article?--Jetstreamer Talk 01:20, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
Yeah, not only for images. Every major airline has a page. Weird that Qatar doesn't have one yet. Your call though. Yoohhooy (talk) 04:08, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
Go ahead, of course.--Jetstreamer Talk 12:11, 20 March 2024 (UTC)

Lists of airline destinations

Again I don't want to sound patronizing. But I do admire the work you have put in to improving aviation-related articles such as Nigeria Airways and Vietnam Airlines. I also recall that you were the one who welcomed me to Wikipedia in 2013 and recognized my addition of sourced information to a list of airlines and destinations. I would deeply regret being part of the reason you left this site. Sunnya343 (talk) 17:30, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

Hello Jetstreamer,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.
