Waje

Greetings Jocelyndurrey. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia, particularly to the Waje article. While viewing your revision to the said article, I noticed that you included promotional phrases like "massive hit". Phrases like these are considered peacock terms per WP:PEACOCK. Please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's policies moving forward. Thanks. Versace1608 (Talk) 15:18, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi Versace1608. Thanks for your advice! Didn't notice that since I was too busy adding some info. about her. Thanks for your edit! Have a good day. -Jocelyndurrey (talk) 23:47, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
@Jocelyndurrey: That's fine. Who knows, maybe you were not the one who added those promotional wording to the article. Btw, thanks for making copyedits to the article. Waje is a great artist and I hope this article gets better. I have lots of things to do on Wikipedia and it will take me a while to attend to the Waje article. Do you think you can help expand the article? If you are up to the task, I can find reliable sources to make your workload easier. If you don't mind me asking, are you Nigerian? Versace1608 (Talk) 00:03, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
@Versace1608: She sure is a great artist. I was on with the Scientists but I think I can manage to expand the article. If you can provide me reliable sources that would be awesome. I'm an asian. Thanks. -Jocelyndurrey (talk) 00:16, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
I will provide reliable sources as soon as possible. You do not need to rush yourself to get it done. Versace1608 (Talk) 00:40, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! -Jocelyndurrey (talk) 00:54, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
I'm sorry for taking so long. I added reliable sources to this reply. It is visible only in edit mode. Thanks once again for agreeing to help out. Versace1608 (Talk) 14:59, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
@Versace1608: Thank you! I will start working on it this week. :) -Jocelyndurrey (talk) 01:45, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Darrell Abernethy

Hello Jocelyndurrey,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Darrell Abernethy for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:25, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

@Kudpung: Hello there. The article is still on progress. I haven't finished creating it yet. I was still on it when you gave me that notice. After I'm done with the article, you can check if it's an article that should be deleted. Please be patient. Thanks. -Jocelyndurrey (talk) 11:34, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

This page has now been moved to Draft:Darrell Abernethy where you can work on it without fear of deletion.Please submit it through WP:Articles for creation when you believe it to be ready for publication. You may wish to consider doing this in future rather than creating pages directly in mainspace.--Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:37, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

@Kudpung: Thanks for your consideration! Will do. -Jocelyndurrey (talk) 11:44, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

A small, helpful suggestion. ;-)

Dear Jocelyn,
I hope you are keeping well?
I noticed you joined the userbox WikiProject today and I wish you many hours of fun as one of our members!
The reason for contacting you is because I also noticed that your talk page contains a few entries indicating that some of the articles you've created in the past were tagged as "AfD" (Articles for speedy Deletion).
Therefore, it occurred to me to suggest that in future, you might find it beneficial to consider using:

The good news is that you can have any number of personal sandboxes! (See Wikipedia:About the Sandbox)
Either way, you'd be able to develop and refine your articles up to the point where you feel they are really ready to be created or launched for peer reviews.
You don't have to do any of these things, of course; however, either method will make life a lot easier for you and save you the pressure of having to rescue an article from deletion by having to do a lot of work in a short space of time and under the scrutiny of patrollers etc.
Here are two of my sandboxes, as examples:

  • User:Pdebee/Sandbox for albums – this article has now been published as On the Fly (album) a few days ago (so, I could now re-use this sandbox for the next album, for example, which is great because a lot of the required structure is already in place);
  • User:Pdebee/Draft/Declan Masterson – even though it doesn't have "sandbox" in its page name, this "draft" article is nested within the special pages of my username (as a sandbox would be). As you will see when you read it, this article is quite protracted: I had already done a lot of research about Masterson's recordings (in one of my other sandboxes!) and I copied everything into this brand new sandbox for the final stretch of development. The remaining challenge with it is that I now need access to reliable sources of biographical information which I am currently in the process of identifying, and this task might well take me several more weeks.

So, Jocelyn, I hope these ideas might prove useful to you and, of course, I am sure you will find your own way of doing things here at the Wiki. But the main objective of my suggestion was to point out alternative methods that will enable you to draft future articles at your own pace, without running the risk of being subjected to the AfD procedure as often as before.
In any case, I wish you good luck in all your editing! Please keep well and joyful.
With kind regards;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 16:25, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

@Pdebee: Hello Patrick! :) Thank you for your kind hospitality. Yeah, I was too busy trying to create the articles without drafts. LOL I'll keep your advice about creating drafts. Take care and have a wonderful day! JocelynTalk to me 13:13, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
@Jocelyndurrey: Dear Jocelyn,
You're very kind too! Thank you so much for treating me to that lovely cup of hot chocolate—it was truly delicious!
You'll be fine and, from looking at your recent edits, I am in no doubt you'll be doing great things here at the Wiki.
If you ever need any assistance, then please just let me know and I'll do my best to help if I can.
Until then, please keep well and joyful, Jocelyn.
With kind regards;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 18:54, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Images request for Johanna Basford

Hi Jocelyndurey. I noticed that you created the article for Johanna Basford. I wonder if you can also add some images for her and her works. It feels too empty, you know what I mean. Orangemountain999 (talk) 15:25, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

@Orangemountain999: Hello there. I actually have been searching and searching (yup for many days and months) for free images of her works, but didn't have any luck actually. :( Well, I'm planning to send a request of permission from the artist this week if I don't find one. Thanks for asking me for help. Have a good day! :) JocelynTalk to me 15:40, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

I see. I'll just wait patiently for you to place the images for us then. I wonder if I can find one also. Orangemountain999 (talk) 15:56, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

@Orangemountain999: Yeah. Some patience are required. I'll try to get the images for sure. Enjoy your stay. :) JocelynTalk to me 16:01, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
I sent her an email and asked that she or someone who held a copyright on an image of her upload one to Commons, but she didn't understand. She sent me a picture she has the copyright for, but as you know that's not sufficient for legally uploading to Commons. Now I have to email her back and say, "Thanks, but no thanks." I wish we could find someone who is a) a Commons uploadeder and b) has taken a photo of her at a book signing. - Tim D. Williamson yak-yak 17:57, 27 February 2016 (UTC)
@Timdwilliamson: Ah... Thanks for your effort! :) Well, I wish I've had a photo of her. :( Oh well. JocelynTalk to me 04:56, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

Article upgrade assistance request (Pre-translation stage)

Seasons Greetings,

This is in reference to a relatively new umbrella article on en-wikipedia named Ceremonial pole. Ceremonial pole is a human tradition since ancient times; either existed in past at some point of time, or still exists in some cultures across global continents from north to south & from east to west. Ceremonial poles are used to symbolize a variety of concepts in several different world cultures.

Through article Ceremonial pole we intend to take encyclopedic note of cultural aspects and festive celebrations around Ceremonial pole as an umbrella article and want to have historical, mythological, anthropological aspects, reverence or worships wherever concerned as a small part.

While Ceremonial poles have a long past and strong presence but usually less discussed subject. Even before we seek translation of this article in global languages, we need to have more encyclopedic information/input about Ceremonial poles from all global cultures and languages. And we seek your assistance in the same.

Since other contributors to the article are insisting for reliable sources and Standard native english; If your contributions get deleted (for some reason like linguistics or may be your information is reliable but unfortunately dosent match expectations of other editors) , please do list the same on Talk:Ceremonial pole page so that other wikipedians may help improve by interlanguage collaborations, and/or some other language wikipedias may be interested in giving more importance to reliablity of information over other factors on their respective wikipedia.

This particular request is being made to you since your user name is listed in Wikipedia:Translators available list.

Thanking you with warm regards Mahitgar (talk) 05:53, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

A note on stubs

Hello! Just a note that I undid a couple of your section additions (Naima Sahlbom, Gertrude Mary Woodward), since I felt it unnecessarily divides an already short article. Per WP:LEAD, the text above the first section may be all most viewers read (especially on increasingly common mobile devices or apps which collapse sections by default), and dividing into sections may not be warranted until an article exceeds 500 or so words. Cheers, --Animalparty! (talk) 18:22, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
