Conflict of interest in Wikipedia

Hi Joe. Would you please clarify if you have any real world relationships with people who market low-carb diets? For example you might be working as a freelancer or working for a marketing agency. That sort of thing. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 22:47, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

I do not (at least, I don't know of any). I did once lose some weight on one (and indeed, gained most of it back) - does that count? You are of course, welcome to inspect my career on LinkedIn with a bit of a Google. Joe (talk) 22:57, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Alan Turing statue surrounded by Flowers 2018 side view.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Alan Turing statue surrounded by Flowers 2018 side view.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Majora (talk) 03:13, 12 July 2018 (UTC)

My bad, fixed on source website, thanks for checking Joe (talk) 09:38, 12 July 2018 (UTC)

Luton

I put back by Association, as most place lists include people who had lived there, not just born. The harder question is the articles on those people clearly state the connection to Luton. Some did (schooled there, etc.) but not all. Those not could be deleted. David notMD (talk) 03:26, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi David, just saw this. Thanks for keeping an eye on it :) Joe (talk) 16:58, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

Use of copyvio-revdel template

Hi Joe, you asked for feedback so here it is. Your use was correct as the content did need to go and you got the use of the template pretty much spot on. When you enter a start revision id you only need the number e.g. {{copyvio-revdel| url=https://www.ppsc-sppc.gc.ca/eng/bas/index.html?wbdisable=true|start=882387690}} would do rather than {{copyvio-revdel| url=https://www.ppsc-sppc.gc.ca/eng/bas/index.html?wbdisable=true|start=https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Public_Prosecution_Service_of_Canada&oldid=882387690}} It doesn't make much difference but it's less copy and paste for you. It's handy to add a finish id too but as that is more often than not, the revision immediately before the one where you add the template we can normally work these out. Thanks for your efforts. Nthep (talk) 14:39, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

Thanks Nthep - it's great to get feedback - particuarly when working on this sort of issue - can feel very lonely around here :) Joe (talk) 18:44, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

Thanks Diannaa,
I would argue, mostly for the benefit of anyone else reading my talk page, that the edit was a mildly close rewrite of sourced factual content, but I'm happy to be corrected :) Joe (talk) 14:20, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
I have temporarily undone the revision deletion so you can have a look. Here is a link to the Copyvio Detector comparison. You can see that some parts are okay, some parts are quotation, and some parts are directly copied. Since it's a timeline, I decided complete removal was the best option. — Diannaa (talk) 14:27, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
Entirely fair enough, and thank you for showing your reasoning. I suspected it was close to the line at the time and clearly didn't paraphrase as much as I thought of. FWIW - most of the motivation for putting it in was to provide a bit of a structure for other bits of that article to move to. At the moment it feels very unstructured... Forrest Galante

Hi @Joereddington: How goes it? I had to revert the updates you did to the Forrest Galante. Your using IMDB is references, which is not a reliable source. I already removed these links when I did a cleanup of the article when the author of the article was taken to the coin noticeboard about 4-6 weeks ago. Per WP:IMDB they are no more than social media links. I'm suprised. You've been eight years yet your still using dodgy sources. Don't put them back in. If the podcast was notable and per WP:NOTNEWS it would have other standalone coverage in many other places. scope_creepTalk 14:00, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

Also edit requests must have good references before they can go ahead. That edit request had nothing. Are you connected or do have a relationship with Forrest Galante. If you do you will need to declare a WP:COI. scope_creepTalk 14:03, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
