Request for Copyediting

Hello there, I found your name listed at WP:1FAPQ as a willing copyeditor, and I wonder if you'd be willing to provide your services for the Clan Fraser article. I need that little something to boost it to FA-status. I'd apreciate it to no end; the article's been in the same state for quite awhile now. Ben Stevens

While it will almost certainly prove out to be Ben Stevens in the case, for the credibility of wikipedia can it wait until it is more than "...believed to be Ben Stevens." I dont believe it will be that long.

There is no logical reason to list information about "Senator B" in the Ben Stevens article if there is no sentence tying "Senator B" to Stevens. So the options are (a) leave the info about "Senator B" in the article, and explain the link (that strong evidence points to Stevens being "B", according to newspaper reports), or (b) delete the information altogether from the article, which leaves the reader uninformed about a very important development which is likely to put Stevens in jail. Obviously I think (a) is the correct choice.

Removal of negative material from Rudy Giuliani article

In the thread at Talk:Rudy Giuliani#Proposal to make the Controversies Section its own page, you were one of those who commented in opposition to the suggestion. By my count (including opinions later expressed elsewhere), this wholesale deletion of information from the main article is supported by three editors and opposed by six.

Nevertheless, the three keep trying to implement their proposed deletion. You can read a lengthy discussion at Talk:Rudy Giuliani#NPOV tag. I've reverted the deletion three times already today, as well as spending a lot of time trying to explain to them why their approach contravenes Wikipedia guidelines, but the edit war continues. I'm calling the situation to the attention of the other editors who chimed in earlier, in the hope that the matter can be resolved on the Rudy Giuliani page without resort to dispute resolution. How do i put pictures on articles? Since i'm a member of wikipedia can i edit every page that i look up? That's all my question for now. The article was submitted to LOCE (by an anonymous IP address) with the comment "Important city needs a better article". That gives absolutely no clues as to why this needs a copyeditor, as opposed (say) to a subject matter expert, or (for example) someone who will spend time providing references where they are missing.
I stated in my edit summary, Not a good candidate for copyediting (long article, 30+ cites, many wikilinks); looking at that, what I should probably have said was something like "Looks like a fairly good article to me; most articles in Wikipedia need copyediting more than this one does".
In short, the article was listed with a poor reason and my reading of the article indicated no particular urgent need. (I note that I didn't remove the "needs copyediting" template at the top of the page; of course, most articles with such tags are not listed at the LOCE page.)

Breaking things

Unfortunately, that comment is part of PDFbot's operation (it seemed like a good idea at the time), I've been trying with some success in getting to not update if the > was left off -->. And it at the time it is the recommend workaround for this problem. —Dispenser 23:31, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

On Philip Graham and his wife

Indeed "the proper place to discuss his death at lenght is in the article about him", as you wrote. I had to shorter my information on that, precisely because others found it too long to be on the Katharine entry. However, obviously Katharine Graham was Philip's wife, and she would be the main suspect in case the murder theory is true. So, it is relevant to put it in her article.

Now, let me tell you that this is not the first time, nor the last time, that a theory is discussed in a Wikipedia article. I don't get your worries.

About the First Amendment, please, do not misdirect things here, since I mentioned it to User:Cberlet because he deleted a book by John Coleman I put on the Tavistock Institute entry. That list works as a recommendation --therefore, you choose to read or not to read the book in question. That's why I told Cberlet he had NO right to decide for others. He can express his opinion freely, but not delete the recommendation. I sincerely hope that this is clear enough for you.--Dukered 14:26, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

I had misunderstood the directions for posting a request to have the Karl Rove page semi-protected. Literally 10 seconds later I realized my mistake and went to correct it, but somebody had already done so. Using the index

I added a section to your user sub-sub-page:

Even though the material I wrote seemed obvious to me, it might not be obvious to everyone. You might want to look over the section I added and insure that it represents your work the way you want. I have to say, the editor's index is such a powerful tool that I would like to start developing similar index pages for some of Wikipedia's article content. For example, many if not all WikiProjects have anywhere from dozens to several thousand articles under their purview. An index into a WikiProject's article content would make the information accessible in ways we don't get from the existing MediaWiki links and categories. Not that I'm knocking the built-in MediaWiki navigation features - they just don't have the analytical power and Ctrl-f Web browser search convenience of your index. --Teratornis 01:14, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I was only reverting edits by a chronic, banned, sockpuppeteer. It wasn't a comment by me on the content at all, just that that user has lost the privilege of contributing to Wikipedia. I was reverting to a previous version, as banned users' stuff is usually removed as completely as possible when it is found they have come back. For the record, this discussion continues on User talk:Teratornis#Length of anchors in the index. (I prefer to keep a discussion all on one talk page, although this has the drawback of only notifying the owner of the talk page.) In particular, I want to call your attention to my suggestion to use {{Shortcut}} or a similar template to display shortcut links to the main index headings. I am honestly trying to go thru the proper channels of getting this material online. Last week I spend 90min with help chat thru wiki. They suggested to email the guy that deleted my 50+ article. I did but no response.

Then thru reading and trying to understand the layout it is very confusing to say the least... I do not have PHD in English... but when I follow the instruction that say post your ideas to the drawing board and I do, then I get hammered for it...I am honestly confused.
