If that is the case it would be very useful if you could provide a ref/cite for that - the Wheatbelt (Western Australia) article is very short on refs - and an explanation as to the disparity between the two (the claim for the size vs the admin version) would be a very helpful addition if you had something to hand on that SatuSuro 03:02, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

thank you very much, your reply is very useful - when I created the regions of wa central article - it was exactly what you are telling me that I was hoping to incorporate - that somehow something that has to be explained (it is an unfinished project that article) - the adding the exceptions into that article is important.. I remember a family associated farm closer to mount gibson than wubin is now considered by some to not even be in the wheatbelt anymore, and even 10 years ago the old mullewa rail line area was considered marginal while the midland rail line was almost 'the edge' when it came to rainfall in dry seasons... Nice work on all the rivers in WA that your are fixing up, The origin of Hill River I had put as Dinner Hill, which is a hill not a town and was the closest feature to the origin I could find on Bonzle, but the closest town is (as you put) is definitely Badgingarra. Berckelman River

Hi, good to see another Wikipedian with an interest in NW history :-) I have just reverted your last two edits to Berckelman River and made a few other corrections: Mary Ann, bron 1822 (and her sister Eleanor) spelt their surname Berckelman; it is highly unlikely that both TC & RJ Sholl would have misspelt their mother's/wife's maiden name and Landgate also suggests that the river has always been spelt "Berckelman" <http://www.landgate.wa.gov.au/corporate.nsf/web/History+of+river+names> (so I guess the newspaper made a mistake). Also, The Sholls moved from Camden Harbor to Tien Tsin Harbor (later Cossack) in late November 1865 (not 1866). (Roebourne did not exist at the time; the townsite was chosen by RJ Sholl and it was gazetted in 1866 (see <http://www.landgate.wa.gov.au/corporate.nsf/web/History+of+Country+Town+Names>). I am sorry , but I have a problem with the Midland railway line edit you added - the extension beyond Midland, in effect belongs to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Railway_%28Western_Australia%29 - a long abandoned and not improved for many years article... Helena Vale/Midland is the article context the terminus of the story, and anything further really should be on the Eastern Railway article (which the midland line was part of)... Melbourne pronunciation

I didn't change the pronunciation of Melbourne in order to make it more "American." The phoneme in the pronunciation that we're disputing over is conventionally /ər/, not /ə/; see Help:IPA_for_English. This is IPA broad transcription and helps Aussies as well as Scots, Americans, Canadians, Irish, Indians, etc. familiar with IPA to pronounce the name of the city in their respective dialects of English. List of active gold mines in Nevada

Hello, I had added my Mine to this page and you removed it and left a comment. The figure quoted was from bulk testing and sampling from various locations of the property. All permitting from the state have been granted and we are fully bonded. Dun Glen has commenced full production as of November 2014. Yield projections for 2015 are expected to exceed the lower 2 mines that are listed on the page. My question is, Since we are an active mine in Nevada, How do I have my mine show up on that page? Active mines should have a reference for their latest production figures. There is a bunch of permitted mines in Nevada about to go into production that have impressive forecast production rates but that's not what this list is for. Perhaps some Dun Glen December quarter production figures when they are filed would do the job, but at the moment there is no citable information for this mine as a producer that I can see/find. People with articles on ADB meet the basic requirement of being sufficient notable to be mention within articles, in most case they meet the requirements of being sufficiently notable for stand alone articles please refrain from reverting editors who cite ABD by claiming they arent notable... would also point otu that WP:AGF and WP:BITE are also something you could consider before reverting new editors with such ridiculous assertions that people cited to relaible sources arent notable. Peter Howson Australian Politician

John, some time ago I removed the quote "He gave me, trees, boongs and pooftas." I did this because I very much doubt Peter Howson ever would have said this, it did have a cite to a newspaper article, but I did not believe the article. He was my Godfather and I knew him for 50 years until he passed away. He never used such words, being an English gentleman type. Also, I don't think a person who speaks this way would have received the awards for service to Indiginous Australians, which he did receive. I suppose the article is more amusing with this quote but it doesn't add up. Also I think that it doesn't help the reputation of our politicians in this country, especially when they are not here to stick up for themselves, when we represent them in this way. I see you have put the quote back in, but I would really appreciate it if you could remove it for me, thank you. gold mining royalties

Thanks for your addition to Gold mining in the United States. I have only two quibbles. First, by leaving out the controversy part, the reader may miss the point of which criticism is being refuted here. It is a common criticism, and should be mentioned. Second, I have never before heard of these severance and extraction taxes referred to as "royalties." The description of these taxes as "royalties" appears to be an invention of your source, which introduces them as "functional royalties," and then refers to them as royalties. Strictly speaking, these are not royalties as the word is commonly used, because they are not paid to the mineral owner (ignoring the subject of overriding royalties). I believe that in accordance with WP:COMMONNAME they should be referred to as severance or extraction taxes. I would suggest that the section start like so:

Boogardie

Hi

We need to have a discussion - the three aspects of the use of the name boogardie and mount magnet are not as simple as separting the orbicular to the granit article, as the mount magnet orbicular has a number links to perth things, to mount magnet, and also the ghost town is separate from the pastoral lease, so I do agree with a separate pastroal lease aricle, but i do think either a disambig, or a good set of redirects to separate adrticles.

As it is the edited article looks very wrong - I do think a general disambig article as I had it would be better than excluding the info - then, leading to the separate articles. But it would be very good if we could agree to fix it, as it is there is inadequate flagging of the 3 (if not 4 uses), also the slippage - some literature and sites will use the nearest centre like mount magnet as a reference point JarrahTree 04:04, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

It's Leonora to Esperance - the Laverton spur was taken up. The standard gauge line was put in to transport copper and nickel concentrates from Teutonic Bore, Leinster (both from Leonora) and Windara (from Malcolm). When you want to unjustifiably remove cited content on wiki it helps not to try the tactic of repeating a lie until it becomes reality. I have mentioned twice now in the edit summary section that the BBC source ACTUALLY says "one of the figures appears to have been made before 1664, perhaps as early as the 1500s." You appear to repeatedly deliberately cut-off my quote at 1664 — conveniently ignoring the second part that exposes your lie. Megan Clark -- "clean up" doesn't allow for unexplained deletions

Hello. I see you deleted my citation of the date that Megan Clark became an AC. There are numerous sources saying it was in 2011, and I provided a citation in the text when I made that improvement to the article. I see you deleted that with the mere mention of "clean up." The source you pointed to has no citations. I am presuming good faith on your part and would ask you to provide a verifiable WP:cite as I had done. Hi, I've noticed you reverted my edit for the |citeseerx= parameter on Green Head, Western Australia. CiteSeerX seems to be down indeed, but I think it should be back up soon. In general, links to CiteSeerX tend to be more durable than links to PDF files in the wild as it is an archiving service. Oil density

Thank you for your recent clean-ups in Apollo Sea and Castillo de Bellver oil spill!

I noticed you changed the "tonnes-to-lb" auto-conversions to "tonnes-to-cubic meters". I agree the volume measurement of oil is more useful to most reader than a mass measurement; however, this conversion is problematic, because it can't be done automatically, because density of oil products varies. For the light crude oil spilled by Castillo de Bellver, for example, you converted 145,000 tonnes to 176,000 cubic meters (1.214 cu m per tonne, corresponding to a density of 0.806). However, List of oil spills states a typical range of densities of 0.816 to 0.893 for light crude and recommends using a median value of 0.858. If we use the recommended value, we would convert 145,000 tonnes to 170,000 cubic meters (1.165 cu m per tonne).

Of course, the conversion for Apollo Sea should be different, because it spilled heavy crude oil, which has a larger range of possible densities.

Would you please check and correct all of your tonnes-to-cubic meters conversions and qualify them (perhaps in a comment embedded into the wiki source) with the density you used in your calculation? Johnson487682 (talk) 16:19, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Castillo de Bellver was carrying Murban (SG of 0.82) and Upper Zakum (SG of 0.86) light crudes - sourced from the supplied reference and from List of crude oil products. No indication of the exact proportions so I've used the lowest SG (Murban) of 0.82 in the conversion calcs. Variations are due to rounding.

On the subject of the usefulness of weights for measuring oil, I respectfully disagree. Cited references often provide oil quantities in units of tonnes (or short tons or long tons) when carried in a ship, because ship design capacities are always reported by weight--not volume. In these cases, a weight of oil is the only definitive quantity; the volume can only be approximated, and only if the specific gravity is known with some accuracy. Hi John, it looks like that IP range is owned by ZettaGrid which is a web hosting service. Open or anonymising proxies, including web hosting services, are blocked from editing Wikipedia as they are often used abusively. While this may affect legitimate users, they are not the intended targets. MediaWiki, the wiki software that powers Wikipedia, depends on IP addresses for administrator intervention against abuse, especially by anonymous users. Anonymizing services allow malicious users to rapidly change and disguise IP addresses, causing continuous disruption that cannot be stopped by administrators. Several such attacks have occurred on Wikimedia projects, causing disruption and occupying administrators who would otherwise deal with other concerns. The articles are about towns, not specific points within the town, so the coord precision should match the size of the town - even for a small town 100m (0.001°) would be sufficient. Mitch Ames (talk) 09:26, 25 April 2018 ( UTC)

For some towns 100m would put the coord outside the townsite. It is appropriate that the coord be the centre (geographical or political) of a town. A major problem with many WA towns is that the current coords used are outside the townsite, in some cases quite a way away eg Horrocks, Tampa, Mt Morgans. For some towns 100m would put the coord outside the townsite.

In general, if the town is more than 100m wide, there ought to be a coord (precision ±100m) that falls within the townsite.

It is appropriate that the coord be the centre (geographical or political) of a town.

It only need to be at the centre ± the appropriate (and implied by the number of digits) precision.

RFK Nickname

Hello. My decision to remove the "Bobby" nickname from the lede of Robert F. Kennedy's article was based on MOS:NICKNAME, which states "If a person has a common English-language hypocorism (diminutive or abbreviation) used in lieu of a given name, it is not presented between quotation marks or parentheses into or after their name." Alisha Farrer Indian heritage

If this subject's notability is related to her ethnicity, per WP:Ethnicity it is fine to include it in the lead, but it should be included in a way that defines that this is her ethnicity, not her nationality. By saying "Indian-Australian" or "Australian-Indian", this confuses whether we are discussing her nationality or ethnicity in saying "Indian". It would be more appropriate to say "Australian of Indian ethnicity" or "Australian of Indian descent".

List of oil spills

Thank you for your desire to contribute to this article; however, I'm concerned about some of your changes. Would you please explain your rationale for the following changes?

1. In the 2019-07-27 oil spill on Guarello Island, you converted 40,000 L to 35.4 T. However, at the given conversion factor of 1165 L/T, this should be 34.3. More importantly, the original number has only one significant digit, so I believe it would be best to list this as 30 T. Do you disagree?
2. In the 2018-11-16 oil spill in St John's, you changed 210 T to 219 T. It corresponds to 250,000 L, which converts to 214.59 T (at 1165 L/T), but given the original number has only two significant digits, I believe 210 T was the correct number. Do you disagree?
3. You added some data to the "Owner" column, but the consensus of the discussion on the talk page was this column is not desired, so we should be removing the existing data from this column -- not adding more data. I believe you should remove the data you added. Do you disagree?

Hi, in an edit to Orovada, Nevada, you removed the URL in a citation to Carlson's Nevada Place Names, I was curious about why? In your edit summary, you stated "The url does not link to the cited content. see WP:GBOOKS". I took a look at WP:GBOOKS and did not see what section was relevant. However, the URL does go to the a search results page that shows Orovada as one of the results. Unfortunately, the GBooks version of this book does not include page numbers.
