Even though I sent you a thanks on your page, I should still keep the ball rolling on here like a proper Wiki Editor and reply on my own talk page huh! lol. Again thank you for all your help and the advice here. It'll be well used I promise. JustAnotherNerdWithWords (talk) 17:13, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello JustAnotherNerdWithWords. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:JustAnotherNerdWithWords. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=JustAnotherNerdWithWords|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. Deli nk (talk) 21:19, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Deli nk. I appreciate the heads up. Thank you for letting me know what I'm doing might be in violation of Wikipedia policy. I do not get paid or expect to be paid for any Wikipedia edits I make. If I'm allowed to ask, which of the pages has caused an issue? It's been at least a few months since I've touched Wikipedia in any way so I'm a bit surprised that something's come up now. Again I want to say thanks for letting me know I might be doing something wrong, I'll try to do a better job with any future edits. There is no consensus for that widely misused "philanthropist" label in the lead. Please do not add it without gaining consensus. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 18:19, 22 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
