Map

Sorry I wasn't clearer earlier about how to edit it. (insert lame excuses about kid keeping me busy when really I've been playing too much Team fortress 2). It's not too bad to edit, the map is a template that consists of a pic with dots overlaid on it though CSS. Template:State_parks_of_Minnesota_map.

Here is the source for one dot, which represents Afton as you can see by the link. The dots are simply given in x and y coordinates from the upper left corner of the pic. So if you wanted to fix Afton edit the template, search for "Afton" in the code, then go to the 1st coordinates after "div style=\"position: absolute; left:" that is previous to it. If you want the dot further south add to the 2nd number, north, subtract. If you want it east add to the 1st number west, subtract.

<div style=\"position: absolute; left: 169px; top: 240px; padding: 0;\"><span style=\"position:relative;overflow:hidden; width:5px;height:5px; z-index:2;\">[[Image:Red pog.svg|5px]]<span style=\"position:absolute; top:0; left:0; padding-top:3px; z-index:3;\">[[Afton State Park|<span style=\"float:left; width:5px; height:5px; font-size:10px; line-height:5px; word-spacing:2px; cursor:pointer;\"></span>]]</span></span></div>

If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks!!-Ravedave (talk) 18:13, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

My reply I guess

To tell the truth I have no clue what you are talking about, I only look on wiki for information, while it is my ip address, I'm not the one who edit/add what you said. After reading the whole message, I just have this to say, I do live in Yokosuka Japan, but I did not edit the page, I'm just a high school student, I'm not interested in that stuff, and while I could have easily ignore that message, I wanted to say something. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.205.118.109 (talk) 09:24, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the response. What happened is that someone editing from your IP address quite properly removed improper material from an article about a ship homeported in your city. The person who added that improper material added a note to the talk page for your IP address complaining about the removal. (The improper material has now been expunged, and the editor who added it has been blocked.) I commented on the talk page just to assure the person editing from your IP address, that he or she had done the right thing, despite the complaints made by the vandal. HMS Calliope

Not at all, congratulations on a very well put together article. I can answer a couple of those questions from Colledge, she became a RNVR drill ship on 29 October 1907, being renamed Helicon in July 1915. She reverted back to Calliope in October 1931, and was sold for breaking up on 4 October 1951, being broken up by Hughes Bolckow, of Blyth. If you want to work that in feel free, its nearly my bedtime ;) I'll have a look in a few other sources tomorrow if I can to see if there's anything more I can find on her career. ttfn, Benea (talk) 02:29, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

well done

Thanks for the tip off re bill hart. I have changed the template and added one to William S. Hart so people can click from there too. cheers Victuallers (talk) 22:29, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Despite your good work, The Pirsig pages are still being vandalized by sending linksto blank pages. I don't know how to correct this but hope you do. Best regards, Axel4580 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Axel4580 (talkcontribs) 19:38, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

The links now seem to work on another computer. Axel

Yes, they worked on mine also. It seems OK now. Kablammo (talk) 21:51, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Question for you

Hi, Kablammo. If you have a minute, Portal_talk:Minnesota#Scenic.2F_Photographs. -Susanlesch (talk) 21:03, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Tenney, Minnesota

Last fall we joked about having you visit Tenney. Perhaps you'd like to make a visit this spring or summer. Think it over. :) Brain Rodeo (talk) 03:40, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

I have (self) nominated this article at Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates/SS_Christopher_Columbus. As one of the significant editors of this article by number of contributions, as well as a participant in its GA candidacy, your input would be valuable. Thanks! ++Lar: t/c 21:15, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

My contributions were slight, but I will watchlist the nomination and help if I can. Kablammo (talk) 22:33, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

We did it, SS Chris is a Featured Article!

you're a star!

yaay!

Thanks for your help in getting the good ship SS Christopher Columbus to Featured Article status. The nomination went swimmingly, it was clear sailing all the way, no one turned up to torpedo it, and she passed easily. your very own free pass!

that's the ticket!

Good comments AND good fixes... thanks very much for your input and help! ++Lar: t/c 22:31, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Duluth Complex

Good job turning my pitiful little one-paragraph entry into a respectable article. The Duluth Complex is nice work! Brain Rodeo (talk) 13:43, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Planning to have this article reviewed? I think it's genuinely impressive what you've done with it and although I've already done so, I want to congratulate you again. Really nice work. Brain Rodeo (talk) 02:59, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I had no intention of taking it this far. The map mark-up by Kmusser is really good and the image graphically demonstates the text. A generalized map of the Duluth, Beaver Bay, and North Shore formations would also be good.
I think the piece could use a timeline (whether textual or tabular) of the sequence of flows; I haven't puzzled that out yet. Vsmith intimated that he may add more on minerals. I'm not sure who would review it as I think the geology peer review process is now defunct. Kablammo (talk) 03:11, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

I hereby award you this barnstar in recognition of your invaluable contribution toward developing Wikipedia's coverage of Minnesota's natural history and landscape. Your edits have not gone unnoticed and are greatly appreciated. UBeR (talk) 05:45, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
I second said barn star. -Ravedave (talk) 16:33, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you both. Now I need a barn to hang it on. Kablammo (talk) 14:24, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
We're building a bridge you can hang it on. Whew.[1] -- SEWilco (talk) 00:59, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
And I'm trying to make it smaller still! Kablammo (talk) 01:29, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Your user ID...

...could not be more appropriate to the I-35W bridge article. But why stop there? I think your input on the Big Bang Theory would be perfect. :) Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 13:44, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I tried that once and someone got upset! regards, Kablammo (talk) 13:48, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Sorry for being redundant. And it looks like some other folks are touchy. Apparently the Big Bang is a hot-button issue, as it were. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 03:03, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
I think that was my only foray into the article-- I was on vandalism patrol and ran into a POV pusher, but one with unusual views. I never thought the Big Bang was creationism. (Maybe the folks on both sides of the ID debate could find common ground on that point.) Regards, Kablammo (talk) 07:59, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't know if you know this, but within a half hour of posting that stupid message to you, he was blocked indefinitely for trolling. [2] I'm assuming his nonsense was reverted? Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 10:15, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
And I would say he's factually wrong about the Big Bang being "untestable". While you can't re-create the Big Bang, you can see whether the model of the physical universe fits the Big Bang hypothesis (explaining past events) and also see whether new knowlodge of the universe continues to fit the hypothesis (predicting future events). That's the essence of a scientific theory. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 10:18, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
I always thought a "Big Bang" was what Danny Gladden did in Game One and Kent "Get a vowel" Hrbek did in Game Six. You know the rest. Kablammo (talk) 15:49, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Good point. And the shortage of guys who can deliver the Big Bang is part of what ails the current Twins. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 02:39, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

admin?

Hi Kablammo, A few weeks ago I asked SandyGeorgia for recommendations for people she thought would make great admins. She mentioned you as a posibility. I've done a high level review and think you are a person who might benefit from the tools. Before I spend anymore time reviewing your edits, I wanted to inquire as to whether or not you were interested? I did notice that an RfA was created for you last August. If you are interested feel free to take a look at my past candidates.Balloonman (talk) 08:06, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

I'd be happy to submit a co-nomination. You clearly know policy around here, and you've made tons of great article contributions. I think you'd do a fine job as an admin. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 03:58, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you both. I like creating content and I want to keep that my focus. I will consider it but first must decide if it would detract from the time I spend on content. Regards, Kablammo (talk) 13:46, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Just let me know and I'll take a closer look at your contributions. I'm one of those people who believes that if you need the tools just once, and you have them, then it becomes worth it. Of course, RfA can be an intimidating time period... and some people can be beaten up quite harshly. So, the decision is ultimately yours.Balloonman (talk) 19:20, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
I've decided to pass on this for the time being. Thanks. Kablammo (talk) 15:02, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
