Vandalism?[edit]

Please clarify. I thought vandalism was malicious. I simply re-did the edit because I did not see it on the page. I was simply adding content to the page. See the discussion page for details. 69.133.83.124 (talk) 01:29, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As David Archuleta is becoming more popular, questions are being raised in regards to his sexual orientation. Being talked about on Related Blog, Related Blog 2, both sites have evidence of why his sexual orientation is being called into question, and both websites having numerous visitors. Why it's become an issue for people is not for me to answer. It is however something I felt should be contributed to his Wikipage per public interest. The same kind of news swirled around Clay Aiken as well when he was on American Idol. Thanks! :) 69.133.83.124 (talk) 02:49, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rfb participation thanks[edit]

Hello, Katalaveno.

I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. If you have any further suggestions or comments as to how you think I could help the project, please let me know. Once again, thank you for your both your early and strong support. -- Avi (talk) 16:58, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA[edit]

Hi Katalaveno; I wanted to say thank you for supporting my request for adminship, which passed with 100 supports, 0 opposes and 1 neutral. I wanted to get round everybody individually, even though it's considered by some to be spam (which... I suppose it is! but anyway. :)). It means a lot to me that the community has placed its trust in my ability to use the extra buttons, and I only hope I can live up to its expectations. If you need anything, or notice something that bothers you, don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks again, PeterSymonds | talk 22:05, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thanks![edit]

RfA: Many thanks
Many thanks for your participation in my recent request for adminship. I am impressed by the amount of thought that goes into people's contribution to the RfA process, and humbled that so many have chosen to trust me with this new responsibility. I step into this new role cautiously, but will do my very best to live up to your kind words and expectations, and to further the project of the encyclopedia. Again, thank you. --jbmurray (talkcontribs) 05:47, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: bot to regularly update {{Vandalism information}}[edit]

Or, if not {{Vandalism information}}, then a new template? My idea is this: I use huggle and it, as well as various antivandal bots, are well aware of edits per minute and reverts per minute. Would it not be too difficult to create a bot that monitors recent changes, specifically vandalism warning templates issued to vandal's talk pages by users and Cluebot like bots?. This bot could update a template in real time from real statistics concerning the levels of vandalism (rather than the somewhat subjective updates made irregularly to {{Vandalism information}}. It could also issue regular updates on various irc channels that focus on countervandalism. Just a thought... If I am talking about something already in place, could you let me know? κaτaʟavenoTC 13:37, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, I already thought of this, wrote the code, integrated it into huggle and even updated the template with it six months ago. But people disagreed with my interpretation of the various levels and the continued manual edits bore no relation to, well, anything, so I gave up -- Gurchzilla (talk) 22:10, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bumping of Side Content[edit]

Hello Katalaveno, how are things?

Anyways, I noticed that the top-of-page display items were creating a "ghost space" on the right side of the window. It just so happens that it does on my wiki as well. I was wondering if you (in your HTML genius) knew what might be doing that (tried using <pre>, but that failed miserably. Maybe it has something to do with the spacing definitions. I don't know.

Anyways, happy editing!

Gatwick Express[edit]

Wy did you revert my edit to gatwick express? Yes gatwick express is a sub brand of southern now! But this article was about the national express company that operated the gatwick express franchise. In is better to create a new article for the sub brand and keep the existing article for the NXG company as suggested on the discussion section of the article. Did you read that? Otherwise there is no article and information about the previous franchise holder. 91.65.36.246 (talk) 15:13, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Time between edits[edit]

I took the liberty of updating the table according to your layout - I hope that's OK... I was curious to see the recent trends: I had a feeling there was a slight "shortage" of edits lately (or at least lack of previously seen growth), and now I see it's true. Thanks for keeping your cool in the face of the anon's personal attack in the edit summary of 300. Page blanked by author[edit]

Hi. When an author has blanked his own page, as with Hiveism just now, that is taken as a request to delete. Don't revert it, just add {{db-author}}. In this case, after his page was PRODded he clearly realised it was inappropriate and wanted to get rid of it - in fact one of his edit summaries was "delete". It will have been confusing for him to be accused of vandalism. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 21:09, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Hunter Carson has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

He doesn't seem to have enough notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. TucsonDavidU.S.A. 03:19, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Hunter Carson for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Hunter Carson is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hunter Carson until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. TucsonDavidU.S.A. 03:20, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Warning on a talkpage[edit]

Hello, I'm TCMemoire. I could have misunderstood the situation, but I thought that I should point this out.

I spotted the vandalism on the Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw article while patrolling. Because it had been going on for several edits in quick succession, I was unsure of how to, and was therefore unable to, fix it all at once. I reverted the last edit made and warned that IP user for vandalism, and that user then went back and deleted the rest of the vandalism; this was the major blanking that you warned him/her about.

I thought that I would point out that, while the user was vandalizing, the edit you specified was not vandalism, and in fact was the user trying to revert it. I am aware that he/she did not provide an edit summary, but this that I have just explained was the reason for his/her edits, as evidenced by the revision history. I'm still relatively new to Wikipedia (about four months), so I am not sure if there is there anything that can/should be done about this, maybe in apology?

Thank you for listening! TCMemoire (talk) 02:36, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for msg. You are correct that it was not vandalism and I saw that right away and reverted my revert. I then went to the page to look for last best version but someone else beat me to it. I will remove my warning from that user's talk. Cheers! κaτaʟavenoTC 02:43, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB.
