Could you please comment on this deletion request. Thanks --Kimse (talk) 02:03, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Keith. Did you upload the old version of this image? Also, you mentioned that in AFP it was credited "Courtesy of 'The Aeroplane.'" What are AFP and 'The Aeroplane'? This image is widely used on many wikis, and I don't want to delete it unless I'm sure it's a copyright violation. Please answer here or on the deletion request page. Thanks --Kimse (talk) 05:35, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Templates for UK subdivision lookups[edit]

Hello. I see you've recently updated the English population templates—nice work. Unfortunately, any article that uses a templated form of the data with a hand-coded reference – and what other sort could it have? – suddenly has an old ref.

It doesn't seem long since the last update, and this will keep coming round. As another step towards full automation, I've created a new template {{English district population citation}} that produces a suitable citation that could be used as a ref for the population stats; this could be updated at the same time as the data, so everything is always up to date. I've assumed the source you used for the population stats is the page given in the template (ie, from the rat's nest at the ONS site). I have no idea where you sourced the new rankings and pop densities, though. I've also expanded the documentation a bit and put it as a /doc page, see {{English district population}}. Do you have any comments or suggestions? Regards, Mr Stephen (talk) 23:23, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Lactarius sources[edit]

Hi, I'm working on List of Lactarius species and I was wondering where you got the list of species you included on this Wikispecies page. Can you shed any light on that? J Milburn (talk) 22:55, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposing for deletion[edit]

Just a note before I start the process, I really think the article Author (biology) is in fact a definition. If you feel otherwise, please let me know (here, I'll check).

Thanks,

Vulture19 (talk) 00:16, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • No objection, it included most of the botany and zoology sub-articles when I wrote it. Not much point in having it the way it is now. Check the link in Authority (disambiguation).--Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 21:41, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the OK. Vulture19 (talk) 14:06, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Author (biology)[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Author (biology), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Article is a definition that shows little opportunity for expansion

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Cheshire West and Chester[edit]

Hi, can I ask about this edit [1]? It seems to have produced some strange results. Also, the main article space is supposed to stand alone, without anything being transcluded from user pages. Article templates in the user space are specifically banned by WP:UP#NOT. --86.25.236.226 (talk) 22:02, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Somebody else corrected it before I read this message. --Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 08:28, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of List of Parliamentary constituencies in Cleveland[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of Parliamentary constituencies in Cleveland, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Cleveland doesn't exist; why on earth is there an article on its parliamentary composition?

NowCommons: File:Yorkshire Dales National Park.png[edit]

File:Yorkshire Dales National Park.png is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Yorkshire Dales National Park.png. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Yorkshire Dales National Park.png]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 11:09, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

I'm Darren23, and you might see me around TC articles. I have 2 questions, how do you calculate ACE (using an ACE calculator, by hand, etc) and second, are you by any chance a member of WPTC? Cheers. Darren23 (Contribs) 15:33, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and welcome to the Tropical cyclone WikiProject! We are a group of Wikipedia editors who help to improve articles related to tropical cyclones on Wikipedia.

Looking for somewhere to start? Here are a few suggestions.

If you have any comments, suggestions, or would like to talk about the project in general, feel free to leave a message on the talk page.

Also, can you update ACE in 2009 PTS? Add {{User WPTC}} to your user page, and visit WP:WPTC/SPAM. Many thanks. Darren23 (Contribs) 21:16, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 05:00, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
