Chris Beech (born 1974)

Often confused with the Chris Beech (born 1975), Chris did not infact play for Doncaster or Carlisle and ended his career in league football at Rochdale AFC. He did play non-league footballer for Fleetwood following his time at Rochdale but only briefly - so the information you have regarding the end of his career (stats included) are false. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.187.163.10 (talk) 13:17, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

GA request

Hello, I noticed that you reviewed the good article nomination of Sekou Doumbouya not too long ago. I was hoping that you would consider reviewing another NBA prospect's article, Zion Williamson, for GA consideration, because they are quite similar in format. The review page can be found at the top of its talk page. Let me know if you are interested. Wisestork (talk) 00:34, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for the review. I recently expanded the Goga Bitadze page as well, so if you are interested in reviewing another NBA prospect article, you can start the review from the link on its talk page. This is even more similar in format to the Sekou Doumbouya article you reviewed in the past. Wisestork (talk) 16:54, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Josh Sheehan

Seriously? almost none of the player heights in Wiki are referenced. Have you ever seen Josh Sheehan? He's my cousin and he recons he's 172cm. The 184cm comes from confusion with the Australian motorcyclist Josh Sheehan which has been wrongly copied on some web sites https://xfighters.redbull.com/en_MX/athlete/josh-sheehan. You've now replaced a dead link with a wrong link.22:09, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

I know, I understand your point. It's just frustrating once something is wrong on the internet (like confusing Josh Sheehan the footballer with the motorcyclist) it gets perpetuated by wrong sources generating other wrong sources, even the club website. If you google Josh Sheehan it even shows the footballers details from wiki with the motorcyclists photo! That's as sketchy as it gets. It's not like our Josh the footballer is anything like 6ft. Have a look at the photos online. Hopefully the club website will correct it eventually 14:08, 11 February 2019 (UTC)Zebroski (talk) 14:09, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Cardiff City F.C.

Hello:

The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors has been completed.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

I did remove duplicate Wikipedia links from the body of the article and made sure sources were only linked once. I did not remove any duplicate links from any of the tables since they are useful there to readers. As a rule headings are not supposed to be linked to other articles as they have been in the "Honours" section. Again, I have left them for the readers' convenience but an FA reviewer may insist they be removed or linked in some other way.

Best of luck with the FA review.

WikiCup 2019 March newsletter

And so ends the first round of the competition. Everyone with a positive score moves on to Round 2. With 56 contestants qualifying, each group in Round 2 contains seven contestants, with the two leaders from each group due to qualify for Round 3 as well as the top sixteen remaining contestants.

Our top scorers in Round 1 were:

  • United States L293D, a WikiCup newcomer, led the field with ten good articles on submarines for a total of 357 points.
  • Adam Cuerden, a WikiCup veteran, came next with 274 points, mostly from eight featured pictures, restorations of artwork.
  • Denmark MPJ-DK, a wrestling enthusiast, was in third place with 263 points, garnered from a featured list, five good articles, two DYKs and four GARs.
  • United States Usernameunique came next at 243, with a featured article and a good article, both on ancient helmets.
  • Squeamish Ossifrage was in joint fifth place with 224 points, mostly garnered from bringing the 1937 Fox vault fire to featured article status.
  • Ohio Ed! was also on 224, with an amazing number of good article reviews (56 actually).

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start scoring points again from scratch. Between them, contestants completed reviews on 143 good articles, one hundred more than the number of good articles they claimed for, thus making a substantial dent in the review backlog. Well done all!

Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. NPR Newsletter No.17

Hello Kosack,

News
Discussions of interest
  • Two elements of CSD G6 have been split into their own criteria: R4 for redirects in the "File:" namespace with the same name as a file or redirect at Wikimedia Commons (Discussion), and G14 for disambiguation pages which disambiguate zero pages, or have "(disambiguation)" in the title but disambiguate a single page (Discussion).
  • {{db-blankdraft}} was merged into G13 (Discussion)
  • A discussion recently closed with no consensus on whether to create a subject-specific notability guideline for theatrical plays.
  • There is an ongoing discussion on a proposal to create subject-specific notability guidelines for chemicals and organism taxa.
Reminders
  • NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. The deletion policy and its associated guideline clearly emphasise that not all unsuitable articles must be deleted. Redirects are not contentious. See a classic example of the templates to use. More templates are listed at the R template index. Reviewers who are not aware, do please take this into consideration before PROD, CSD, and especially AfD because not even all admins are aware of such policies, and many NAC do not have a full knowledge of them.
NPP Tools Report
  • Superlinks – allows you to check an article's history, logs, talk page, NPP flowchart (on unpatrolled pages) and more without navigating away from the article itself.
  • copyvio-check – automatically checks the copyvio percentage of new pages in the background and displays this info with a link to the report in the 'info' panel of the Page curation toolbar.
  • The NPP flowchart now has clickable hyperlinks.

WikiCup 2019 Reminder

Hi. I'm DannyS712 (talk), and I just wanted to remind you that you are a current participant in round 2 of this year's WikiCup! There are only a few days until the second round ends – if you haven't made you first submission for this round yet, there is still time to start; if you have already started, keep up the good work. See your submissions page: here. Good luck!

WikiCup 2019 May newsletter

The second round of the 2019 WikiCup has now finished. Contestants needed to scored 32 points to advance into round 3. Our top four scorers in round 2 all scored over 400 points and were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber (1210), our winner in 2016, with two featured articles and three DYKs. He also made good use of the bonus points available, more than doubling his score by choosing appropriate articles to work on.
  • Wales Kosack (750), last year's runner up, with an FA, a GA, two FLs, and five DYKs.
  • Adam Cuerden (480), a WikiCup veteran, with 16 featured pictures, mostly restorations.
  • Kingdom of Prussia Zwerg Nase (461), a seasoned competitor, with a FA, a GA and an ITN item.

Other notable performances were put in by Chicago Barkeep49 with six GAs, United States Ceranthor, England Lee Vilenski, and Saskatchewan Canada Hky, each with seven GARs, and Denmark MPJ-DK with a seven item GT.

So far contestants have achieved nine featured articles between them and a splendid 80 good articles. Commendably, 227 GARs have been completed during the course of the 2019 WikiCup, so the backlog of articles awaiting GA review has been reduced as a result of contestants' activities. The judges are pleased with the thorough GARs that are being performed, and have hardly had to reject any. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Cardiff City relegation

Hello, I see you've reverted my edit to Cardiff City F.C. Why do we need to wait until the end of the season to say that the team's been relegated and will play 2019/20 in the Championship? Is there any reasonable chance that this will not happen? All reliable news sources have reported it. I actually copied the line from someone else's edit on the Fulham F.C. page, which you have not reverted. Best wishes, Eric Blatant (talk) 20:38, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

Hello, yes, I understand that the season isn't quite over, but Cardiff is mathematically certain to be relegated and will play next season in the Championship. I probably should have added a citation to that effect, but you could also have done that rather than reverting the edit. For instance BBC Sport says "Cardiff City will make an instant return to the Championship after their Premier League relegation was confirmed", which is essentially what I put. I also understand that the standfirst should summarise the most important parts of the article, before running through them chronologically. At the moment, the most important thing in Cardiff City's minds in their relegation. I'm not going to get into an edit war though. Cheers, Eric Blatant (talk) 19:00, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
I'm a bit confused by the link you supplied, as the upshot of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football#Season_already_finished? seems to be that you can and should write about mathematical certainties before the season has actually ended. It's talking about champions rather than relegations, but one user says "If there's a reliable source confirming that a club has won the title, I don't see the problem. Obviously there's always the slight theoretical possibility that something could come to light to cause them to be docked points or otherwise get stripped of the title, but that could happen even after the season has ended, so I don't think we really need to consider that an obstacle."
Cardiff's relegation and the fact that they will play in the Championship next season are encyclopaedic facts regardless of whether the 2018/19 season had finished, and headline news for the club right now. The first paragraph is the place for a brief summary of the club's current situation, so it seems odd to remove the important fact from there and hide it deep in the text. Cheers, Eric Blatant (talk) 13:11, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
The reason you originally gave for reverting my edit was "Wait for the end of the season" - nothing to do with cluttering the standfirst. There was no reason to wait until the end of the season to report a fact which was all over reliable news sources. As I say, the opening paragraph should summarise a club's situation, the main criterion being which league they play in and, importantly, if they've been promoted or relegated and will thus play at a different level next season. I now see that your "main area of editing is football with particular focus on Cardiff City" which perhaps explains things. I have no main area of editing and was simply writing factually. Good luck in the Championship and I hope you bounce back up in a year's time. Cheers, Eric Blatant (talk) 20:43, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

A favor, perhaps?

Just wanted to know if you were interested in reviewing 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup at GAN. I'm considering skipping GAN if I can't find a reviewer in time, as this might be a decent chance of getting this article ready on the front page for its 20th anniversary (July 10). Any passing comments are also appreciated! SounderBruce 06:58, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

@SounderBruce: I'll try and take a look over the next few days. Kosack (talk) 07:29, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.18

Hello Kosack,

WMF at work on NPP Improvements

Niharika Kohli, a product manager for the growth team, announced that work is underway in implementing improvements to New Page Patrol as part of the 2019 Community Wishlist and suggests all who are interested watch the project page on meta. Two requested improvements have already been completed. These are:

  • Allow filtering by no citations in page curation
  • Not having CSD and PRODs automatically marked as reviewed, reflecting current consensus among reviewers and current Twinkle functionality.
Reliable Sources for NPP

Rosguill has been compiling a list of reliable sources across countries and industries that can be used by new page patrollers to help judge whether an article topic is notable or not. At this point further discussion is needed about if and how this list should be used. Please consider joining the discussion about how this potentially valuable resource should be developed and used.

Backlog drive coming soon

Look for information on the an upcoming backlog drive in our next newsletter. If you'd like to help plan this drive, join in the discussion on the New Page Patrol talk page.

The article 1920–21 Cardiff City F.C. season you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:1920–21 Cardiff City F.C. season for issues which need to be addressed. Small things bother me. In section Managerial career there is:

It seems to me that this is describing the continuity of management? So wouldn't

Interesting Subject

Hello mate, I've just read one of the football player wiki page Alphonse Areola and I noticed one of the edit that was reverted was due to "no citation" regarding his move to Milan, which is still negotiated by both PSG and A.C. Milan. The question is if the move is still on the negotiation process, in which such news are published by the media one of them is through this link, [1] , can we post it on the wikipedia? Or it's better to wait until the transfer is completed? Cheers 182.1.125.115 (talk) 03:34, 27 June 2019 (UTC)

Unless we know something concrete, then rumours should generally be avoided. The source you provided just says that the club's have held talks but these "talks" go on between clubs everyday. Really we should wait for firm facts when either the transfer goes through or it collapses and we know for sure that it was actually happening which could then be considered noteworthy. Possible RfA nom

Hello. I'm considering nominating you for RfA. You might say that the first hurdle (if you're interested in RfA) is deciding if that's a good thing or bad. I'll take no offence if you say no thanks for any reason or none.

If you're interested, please have a read of User:Dweller/Tips for aspiring future admins and let me know the answers to your questions. Thanks --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 14:38, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi @Dweller:, thanks very much for your message it's greatly appreciated. Pinging @Ritchie333: as he has also approached me about a nomination and has been looking for a co-nomination if that's something you're both willing to consider? Kosack (talk) 15:06, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
I've parked the draft nomination at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Kosack. The current plan (heck, it's not secret enough to do off-wiki is it?) is to transclude about 6pm UK time Sunday if that's okay with people. Should be enough time to get nominations in order, do a final flight check of WP:RFAADVICE and be prepared, and accept the nomination. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:15, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
I'm very happy to co-nom with Ritchie. We've done so before (no idea of the results of that - a helpful talkpage-stalking-gnome might be able to tell us) --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 15:22, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
That's great, thanks for supporting my nomination. Kosack (talk) 16:29, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi. Did you answer the questions? --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 20:37, 27 June 2019 (UTC)

Sorry @Dweller:, did you mean the three standard RfA questions? If so, my answers were already on the RfA page Ritchie set up. Let me know what you think. Kosack (talk) 06:13, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
No, see my first message at the top of this section. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 12:07, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
Yeah Kosack, I reckon you'd be fine. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 00:16, 28 June 2019 (UTC)

P.S. I'll offer my support, but not early doors just in case people get the hump. Kosack, you're more than ready to be an admin here. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:45, 27 June 2019 (UTC)

@Casliber: and @The Rambling Man:, thanks very much both that's much appreciated! Kosack (talk) 06:13, 28 June 2019 (UTC)

Kosack, you need to edit the RfA where it says "Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:" and say something like "I accept the nomination, I also confirm I have never edited for pay and have no alternative accounts not disclosed to Arbcom". Then, once Dweller has added his co-nom, we will be good to publish on Sunday. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:28, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
@Ritchie333: All done. Kosack (talk) 16:35, 28 June 2019 (UTC)

New Page Review newsletter July-August 2019

Hello Kosack,

WMF at work on NPP Improvements

More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.

QUALITY of REVIEWING

Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.

Backlog

The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.

Move to draft

NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.

Notifying users

Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.

PERM

Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.

Other news

School and academic holidays will begin soon in various places around the Western world. Be on the lookout for the usual increase in hoax, attack, and other junk pages.

Our next newsletter might be announcing details of a possible election for co-ordinators of NPR. If you think you have what it takes to micro manage NPR, take a look at New Page Review Coordinators - it's a job that requires a lot of time and dedication.

Article Confusion

Hey bro, I recently posted something about the contradiction at the beginning of Tobin Heath's Wikipedia page. I feel like as I'm a little less experienced and you were the one who replied to my comment that maybe you could do something about it.

If you don't remember what it was, in her bio it states her place of birth as Basking Ridge, New Jersey while in the first paragraph of the first section it states her place of birth as Morristown, New Jersey, a town some 7 miles away.

Thank you, Goontalk —Preceding undated comment added 16:14, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Unfortunately it requires I be a resident of Hanover Twp or pay $3 to access the article. I might attempt to find another source but I worry these sources will be influenced by the Wikipedia article. Alternatively I could just email the newsletter if I can find their email. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Goonsnick (talkcontribs) 17:22, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

WikiCup 2019 July newsletter

The third round of the 2019 WikiCup has now come to an end. The 16 users who made it to the fourth round needed to score at least 68 points, which is substantially lower than last year's 227 points. Our top scorers in round 3 were:

  • Norfolk Island Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with 500 points derived mainly from a featured article and two GAs on natural history topics
  • South Carolina Adam Cuerden, with 480 points, a tally built on 16 featured pictures, the result of meticulous restoration work
  • Cascadia (independence movement) SounderBruce, a finalist in the last two years, with 306 points from a variety of submissions, mostly related to sport or the State of Washington
  • United States Usernameunique, with 305 points derived from a featured article and two GAs on archaeology and related topics

Contestants managed 4 (5) featured articles, 4 featured lists, 18 featured pictures, 29 good articles, 50 DYK entries, 9 ITN entries, and 39 good article reviews. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them, and it is imperative to claim them in the correct round; one FA claim had to be rejected because it was incorrectly submitted (claimed in Round 3 when it qualified for Round 2), so be warned! When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Need help

Hi Kosack, You have reviewed the articles I've created before such as Loïc Mbe Soh and Kevin Alaniz. I need your help to review another article I created Draft:Anissa Lahmari. Not sure what has gone wrong with it! I will really appreciate if you could go through it! Thanks in advance. Kokoeist (talk) 11:45, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi @Kokoeist:, what's exactly gone wrong with the article? Did you not mean to submit it as a draft? Kosack (talk) 12:12, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
Actually I just noticed it wasn't you who placed it in draftspace. It was moved by another user with the reasoning "Undersourced BLP, incubate in draftspace". Kosack (talk) 12:15, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi @Kosack:, I have made the article like I usually do and someone put it in draftspace. How could it look like an article again? I have added about 6-7 sources in it now. I thought maybe you could help it with reviewing? I am not sure how this works.

The article is currently listed as an AfC submission so will be reviewed at some point. There is a larger notability issue at hand though as the references included in the article would appear to fall short of meeting WP:GNG. Also, neither Division 1 Féminine or the FA Women's Super League (when she played there) are a fully professional league so she will not meet the threshold of WP:NFOOTY. In its current state, I probably wouldn't accept this article but as it's in draft space it gives you some time to find some more significant independent coverage to pass GNG. Lebanon women's national team GA review

Hi, I've noticed that your had taken on the GA review for 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup (which is now a FA!). With Lebanon women's national football team being the only GA nominated article related to women's football, I was wondering if it were possible for you to start the review? Thanks. Thanks, I really appreciate it! Nehme1499 (talk) 12:02, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
Don't worry, the article has just been reviewed. By the way, I added a couple of comments to your peer review for the Lebanon national football team. Nehme1499 (talk) 23:26, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
Got there quicker than I could! I'll catch up with those comments too. Kosack (talk) 05:57, 4 July 2019 (UTC)

welcome to the mop corps

Congratulations on your successful RFA!
It's your turn to hear what the puppy told me after my RFA passed –
twelve long, sordid, I'm-here-for-the-funny-and-the-pie-and-I'm-all-out-of-pie years ago:
  1. Remember you will always protect the wrong version. (I got nothing here. It's inevitable. I'd be shocked if you haven't done it already.)
  2. Remember you must always follow the rules, except for when you ignore them. Without exception, you will pick the wrong one to do. (See #5.)
  3. Remember to assume good faith and not bite. Remember that when you are applying these principles most diligently, you are probably dealing with a troll. (You'll attract many more of those now, because mop. They must like to drink the dirty water in the bucket.)
  4. Use the block ability sparingly. Enjoy the insults you receive when you do block, because really, what else is there to live for?
  5. Remember that when you make these errors, someone will be more than happy to point them out to you in dazzling clarity and descriptive terminology.
It will not be a personal attack because we are admins and, therefore, we are all rouge anyway.
  6. Finally, remember to contact me if you ever need assistance, and I will do what I am able.

Craig Bellamy

Hi Kosack, I added some [citation needed] templates where direct quotations aren't directly referenced per Wikipedia:BLP, I did add some missing refs further down in the article but I didn't get them all. I also think the section about The Craig Bellamy Foundation could be updated to explain why the charity failed; a short paragraph should be enough as it's not the main subject of the article. I'm sorry the c/e took so long; it's a huge article! Cheers, Baffle☿gab 03:48, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
Thanks very much Baffle gab, no need to apologise I'm happy you were able to find the time to do it. I've fixed all of the cn tags, all of the quotes are from the sources in there but I should of repeated them directly after quotes. Thanks again! Kosack (talk) 05:55, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Peyton Vincze

I've reverted your recent edits because they (mostly) stem from unfamiliarity with the American soccer scene. It's too long to list in edit summary so I've responded one by one here.

  • "FC Wichita play in a senior league": whether FC Wichita plays in a senior league or not is irrelevant, as American players play in amateur or semi-pro leagues as youths or offseason between collegiate seasons all the time. It is convention that all such activities before college to be listed under youth, and offseason play between collegiate seasons under youth or senior based on professional status of the team.
  • "her nationality is ambigious": it's not; based on WP:FOOTY the only nationality that matters in footballer intro bio is their FIFA nationality. This has been discussed numerous times. If you want to list her dual citizenship, you can do that in the personal life section.
  • "her footballing career should be kept separate from her personal life section": collegiate career is usually listed under early life section. If you want you can separate collegiate career out as a main section, no problem, but definitely not under club career.

Thanks. Mightytotems (talk) 18:04, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

Hello WOSO editors! What a 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France! There has been a lot of activity on tournament- and player-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of the tournament and its players. Let's keep the momentum going.

WOMEN IN SPORTS EDIT-A-THON FOR JULY + AUGUST!

WikiProject Women in Red is focusing on Women in Sports during their edit-a-thon for July & August 2019.

Get all the info here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Meetup/126

Sign up and help fill in the gaps within various articles related to women's football / soccer - whether they be players, teams, leagues, historical, administrators, referees, etc. Every little bit helps. Be sure to tag your article talk pages with {{WIR-126}}.

These edit-a-thons are a great way to work with others to help bridge the gender gaps on Wikipedia. Thanks for your contributions!

Did you know...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in two currently active women's leagues)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

What have i done wrong.

you have removed my edits when they are perfectly fine nkk 08:45, 17 July 2019 (UTC)~ your nan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joeycope123 (talkcontribs) 08:45, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi @Joeycope123:, your edits were clearly inappropriate and constitute vandalism. Please reconsider your approach and look to make constructive edits, thanks. Kosack (talk) 08:48, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
  • When blocking, worth checking their whole history too: [1] Andy Dingley (talk) 09:43, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
  • @Andy Dingley: I did check that edit but only saw the content change, unfortunately I didn't scroll down and notice that rather obvious piece, thanks. Kosack (talk) 09:52, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
  • I wasn't even keen on the first change, (and was about to revert, or at least copyedit) as it was poorly written and had a doubled word in it. Still, looked GF enough though... But then you see the second bit and you remember, once a vandal, pretty much always a vandal. Andy Dingley (talk) 11:00, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Welsh Premier League Golden Boot

On 19 July 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Welsh Premier League Golden Boot, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Rhys Griffiths has won the Welsh Premier League Golden Boot more times than any other player, winning for seven consecutive seasons between 2006 and 2012? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Welsh Premier League Golden Boot. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Welsh Premier League Golden Boot), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

DYK for 1924–25 Cardiff City F.C. season

On 20 July 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 1924–25 Cardiff City F.C. season, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that during the 1924–25 season, Cardiff City F.C. became the first Welsh team to reach an FA Cup final? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/1924–25 Cardiff City F.C. season. Hello Sir

First excuse my English:

I didn't edit that he's an Aston Villa player :)

What i am saying to you, is that there's no single source that the man is from a city :D Kafr El Sheikh here is shortness for the government, it's consisted of a capital (City) and tons of villages. Putting that he's from the capital is unreliable, i have Arabic language videos where he said that he's a villager and used to go every day to the capital (meaning that he's not from the city). That was my point and thank you. 41.234.168.3 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 19:24, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi, perhaps not intentionally but your edits were changing the current club to Aston Villa. There are several sources other than Soccerway that support this information, including [2], [3] which directly references the actual city. The place of birth doesn't mean where he grew up, merely where he was actually born, so for example his family could of simply travelled to the hospital in the city before returning home. So he could well be a villager but the actual site of birth could be different. Kosack (talk) 19:42, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

Player inclusion/exclusion in club categories

Hello. Thanks for your notifications about removal of my edits to Jorgen Nielsen and Stuart Taylor. I consider that I was correct. However, I can also see that there is a serious lack of consistency in the Football Project and think we need to take it to general discussion. Liverpool, Wolves, Man City & Southampton categories clearly state that they apply ONLY to past and present players. Nielsen and Taylor DID NOT PLAY for the clubs, so either the category should not be shown in their article, OR (and perhaps this is something you would prefer) the parameters for inclusion in club categories Project-wide need to change. The inclusion parameters at club categories for Arsenal and Yeovil Town are examples you may like to look at. Cheers, RossRSmith (talk) 00:03, 27 July 2019 (UTC)

@RossRSmith:, Hi Ross, as far as I'm aware there is no confusion or consistency problem over this issue. The Yeovil and Arsenal categories may have more specific wording but the other categories you mention certainly don't imply that players with no appearances should be excluded. "Past and present players" does not mean that a player must have made an appearance, merely that he joined the club at some point in his career. There have been discussions in the past about players who were only attached to a club at youth level being included in these categories but that wouldn't apply to either of those players. You are welcome to open a discussion at WP:FOOTBALL if you think the issue needs attention though. Kosack (talk) 06:26, 27 July 2019 (UTC)

Harry Maguire to Man Utd

I saw a picture of him in a Man UTD shirt so assumed the deal was already done. Mizo0ooo0o (talk) 13:39, 3 August 2019 (UTC)

No worries, neither the Manchester United nor Leicester website have any official confirmation and this newspiece was posted 30 minutes ago saying that he is yet to have a medical. So, it appears as if the transfer remains uncompleted for now. Kosack (talk) 13:42, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
