Started working on DMC3...

Ok, with Devil May Cry currently nominated for Good Article, I spent some time working With Devil May Cry 3, the page was/is a mess and it is plot less, I choped down a few sections that seemed like fancruft to me (fell free to revert any of them back) and tweaked up the page but it still lacks a plot, now I came here to see if you were available to deal with it since I will have limited time to edit here this weekend, if you don't have time I will deal with the script on Monday, peace. - 18:40, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Great, thanks! - 18:47, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Do what you need to improve it, Peace. -- 18:56, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Congrats

An article you nominated, Devil May Cry, was passed as a good article! Dåvid Fuchs (talk / frog blast the vent core!) 23:01, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Cheers! next stop Featured Article. -- 02:06, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

P.S. I asked Deathphoenix to do a peer review on Devil May Cry to help us since he offered to do so; how is DMC 3's plot going, need any help? -- 02:21, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Evil huh? No worries I will keep working it and see where references can be added, yesterday I added some and raised the number of references from 11 to 19 how many do you think the plot will have? Peace. -- 16:42, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

A Request

Hey mate, I know you're proll'y busy and whatnot with the DMC series, but I'm putting an article I've been working on, Iridion 3D, up for FA and I was wondering if you could look it over and lend me your critique if you feel its missing somesuch. Anyway, have a nice day, Dåvid Fuchs (talk / frog blast the vent core!) 16:48, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

RE: Devil May Cry

I actually gave the useful excerpts to User:Dark Dragon Flame, since he was the one who wanted help with the reference anyway. The following is what I posted for him:

"Extreme Combat

Nucleating game: Devil May Cry (Capcom, 2001)

Not a generally accepted genre (for example, Devil May Cry is most usually associated with the survival horror genre, for apparently no reason other than its reputation as having once been intended as a Resident Evil game by creators Capcom), the term has been invented to apply to a number of similar games that belong in ancestry in part to 2D platform games and in part to fighting games.

... in DMC, Dante may launch himself into the air and then keep himself aloft by shooting rapidly at a foe beneath him. Key to this genre, attacks lock onto the enemies, making sure the stylish attacks do not go astray. Finally, combo attacks, or something method of chaining for points of style, provide reward for finesse.

Games such as the remake of Shinobi (Overworks, 2002) and its sequel Nightshade (WOW Entertainment, 2004), Otogi: Myth of Demons (From Software, 2003), and Legacy of Kain: Defiance (Crystal Dynamics, 2003) all feature aspects of style, auto-aimed attacks, and chain or combo potential."

That's basically everything usable from the book. It's vague in spots, but I think it'll work. I can't decide how to use it, though. Any ideas?

Also, on the subject of System Shock, I plan on going to FAC as soon as the peer review ends and I've incorporated its feedback. Hopefully, it will get more responses than the last few reviews I've initiated. JimmyBlackwing 02:18, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

  • The stuff I gave you is from two different pages: 246 and 247. Only the last paragraph is from 247. JimmyBlackwing 02:34, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
    • Looks great. I might suggest that at least a little bit of negative criticism should be added, to keep the Reception section from seeming biased. Here is a quote from the November 2001 issue of Next Generation Magazine: "It is simply far too difficult...and this level of difficulty seems to exist entirely to keep you from beating it within a few hours". After that, if you can get copyeditor or two to run through to article, I'd be more than happy to support. JimmyBlackwing 02:50, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
      • It looks to me like most of the cons expresed aganist the nomination to FA have been attended to, I dealt with the references and reception parts since the critisism was mostly about those, great job on the Legacy section I was going to create it yesterday but some stuff came up in real life and I had to go, raising an article to FA sure is hard but I'm sure all this work will be justified when it reaches there, Peace. - 20:27, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
    • Amen to that brother, still I think we found a though crowd there is this guy that kept insisting that all critism must be quoted, that made me look all over the web for good quotes and it was a pain, but it's all worth it, Peace. -- 20:47, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
  • Neither did I, perhaps he was refering to the differences between American and European versions when compared to the Japanese version but it seems he is satisfied now. - 21:01, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
  • On the subject of the Devil May Cry FAC, the article is looking much better now. The content has reached a standard I feel is FA quality. The only remaining problem is the prose, which falls well beneath "compelling, even brilliant" (criterion 1a)—particularly in the Plot section. By this point, you could technically hand it over to the League of Copyeditors. I would recommend User:Deckiller for his copyediting brillance but he's bogged down with requests, as he said. I'm not sure who you're going to find to do it, but the article needs to be copyedited before I support. I apologize for being so stubborn on this point. JimmyBlackwing 21:11, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

I have to say, you've done a great job with Kya: Dark Lineage, taking it (essentially single-handedly) from this fragmented trivia-ridden version to this. Kudos, Black Falcon 05:25, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Re: The Filthy Truth

No worries on the backup. I don't think we can convince him, but we can at least provide compelling arguments to the contrary. If I can only set this guy's feet right.... --Dennisthe2 17:55, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

You're probably right about Mr.S. I just distilled what we need to him. I hope. --Dennisthe2 18:01, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
110 members?! Granted WP:BIGNUMBER, but dang, that's kind of insular. --Dennisthe2 18:17, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, at least Fnagaton's shown a willingness to take my own input into consideration. --Dennisthe2 18:44, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
Nah, he hasn't quite crossed the line yet. If you want a witch hunt, go have a gander at this AFD that Uncle G is involved in. =O.o= --Dennisthe2 18:50, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

DMC review table

Yeah but remember we are trying to reach a concensus here and this guy is a though buyer, while I do agree the table is not stylish I suggest we leave it there at least until we get JimmyBlackwing's support then it can be taken out since even if he opposes we would still have a concensus -- 20:21, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Ok then, Peace. -- 20:29, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Devil May Cry

I'll see if I can take a look tonight. BTW, is it just me, or is "Devil May Cry" a funny title? — Deckiller 22:14, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Almost there

I was going to see if you were available for the Development's rewritting but it seems you already started, that just leaves the "copy edit" and the prose on Reception, let's try to make it as quick as possible since as always I will have a busy weekend, I will come back in a few hours if you need anything leave me a message in my talk page, Peace. - 00:28, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

  • I'm back and I have dug some negative commentaries from the same reviews referenced in the article however this might take up some space. - 02:43, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
    • I posted them on my talk page, they are varied there is one that even criticizes the end for being to simple, however my time is limited I must go now and I'm not sure if I will come back today, if not I will deal with them tommorow, Peace. - 03:02, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Dude we need to do some work with the prose quick now another user is after it, unfortunately that is the part of this that I'm not very good at, now I'm not asking you to do it by yourself but I'm asking if you know of some one with the skills required to do this before more users come complaining about the same thing? - 05:57, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Never mind the previous comment only one user opposing at the moment it's really close to consensus if it's not one already. -- 22:24, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Yo, been a while, can you attend the remaining two opposisions in DMC's FAC I am kind of very exhausted after working with people's concerns the last few weeks, I leave you the ball with a 11 supporters and 2 oppsers score, hopefully you can satisfy Arcayne cause it seems I can't, and Tony has not even appeared again. I will be procceding to work with DMC 3, I already nominated it for GA and I'm waiting for David Fuchs to return and judge it again to have it promoted to GA. Peace -- 17:56, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
    • Thanks. :) -- 19:49, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Devil May Cry finally upgraded to Featured article

Yeah finally, it sure as hell fells satisfactory. Now I am getting a little ambitious I want to raise the Devil May Cry series to the first ever VG series to have all of their released games pages as Featured articles in Wikipedia and to let it become the first series to have more than one character (human or demon for that matter, pokemon don't count there are hundreds of them) as FA. I already took step one at Devil May Cry 3 and worked on it until it reached Good Article and asked for a peer review, and after that total control of Wikipedia *hahahaha* --- 03:51, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Toronto Raptors

Hi there, guess what I'm suddenly embroiled in a FAC nomination myself. I was heavily involved in editing the Toronto Raptors when I suddenly realised that someone had nominated it for FA. You've had some experience in bringing the DMC articles to FA status, so if you've got the time, would appreciate it if you could just glance through the article and provide some thoughts either on the talkpage or the nomination page. That said, if basketball bores you to tears, please don't feel obligated to take a look! Chensiyuan 11:27, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for leaving your feedback. Regarding the source of the images, do they have to be primary sources? I can't find where the original uploader got it from on the nba.com website, but they seem to be available on other non-nba websites. How does it work actually, it's my first encountering source issues. Chensiyuan 22:20, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Actually what I did was to upload an image from nba.com and tag it accordingly and also provide the source. As for the old image I've alerted it for deletion as it would be a duplicate. Chensiyuan 22:26, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

DMC

Good job with the articles - I haven't played the games, but two FA's and one GA is impressive. I'd like to suggest you turn the Devil May Cry series a Featured Topic, see the nomination procedure on WP:FTC - though improving the series main article would help things out. 00:07, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Pacifica

Thanks for the communication, perhaps you are not following the Zeitgeist in Pacifica? This allegation of a hate crime has generated significant local and regional interest. SaltyBoatr 18:30, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

With due respect, your personal standard for notability appears different than the standard of WP:Notability. Ultimately, it should not matter whether you personally find it notable as long at the WP standards have been met. SaltyBoatr 18:48, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

you're "tweak" was good, i had trouble making it sound nice, so thank, my problem was that i wanted to write it in a way that will still read coherently after she is no longer aged 20, have any thoughts?T ALKQRC2006¢ʘñ†®¡ß§ 21:35, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
