I mean, here you have a war hero who was awarded the Navy Cross, whose notability was recognized by the Dept. of the Navy who named a ship after him, the town of Buckeye who named an airfield after him and by the American Legion who named a post after him, yet someone in Wikipedia questioned his notability. ArbCom 2017 election voter message[edit]
Hello, Looper5920. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting[edit]

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Hi Looper5920, I noticed that the Marine Aircraft Group 32 that you created had Clayton C. Jerome listed as a notable commander, with no article. I created the article, but I would appreciate you firming up the content. Marines in the Phillipines notes that Jerome played a key role in the implementation of close air support during the liberation of the Philippines. April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive[edit]
G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:
- tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
- adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
- updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
- creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

Backlog Banzai[edit]
In the month of September, Wikiproject Military history is running a project-wide edit-a-thon, Backlog Banzai. However, since there were two Rottman 2002 references, I made them Rottman 2002a and 2002b. You'll have to update the short footnotes to reflect 2002a/b because I don't know which of the two you meant.

Need help for contribution to a WWII Archiving website[edit]
Good evening. This is probably a somewhat unusual message for you, and I wanted to contact you via email but I don't see any so this is it
My name is Paul Sidle. I am the founder of the website the WWII Archives, soon to become a non-profit. Although it runs on mediawiki, its goal is entirely different from Wikipedia's. The goal is for anyone to join and help create the most detailed accounts of any subject from the WWII era. In doing so people are implored to go out and conduct as many interviews, archive as many documents, and do anything else to find and archive whatever other scattered information of that time period there is out there.
Recently I had the gracious opportunity to interview the 102 year old veteran Col. Joe McPhail, a USMC veteran of the Pacific War and Korean War, serving in VMF-441, 323, 122, and 214 (214 in the Korean War). As such I started doing an article on him. However creating those articles requires you to try and find any research and sources that exist out there on the subject. He had conducted a lot of interviews and I eventually discovered many documents from 441, 323, etc about his involvement and the involvement of others, what they did, among other things. The articles relating to those subjects can be searched on the website if you would like to see (for example here is Joe McPhail's). I have gathered most of the information that I could find relating to Joe and as per policy on the website you have to try and leave traces of other people enough for future people to come and find them to start writing about if you're not going to write about it. However the problem is is that I have to move on to archiving, writing, interviewing, etc about other subjects (to try and get the site/non-profit moving) so I can't write about everything and I am having a hard time finding some things.
Therefore when looking around the contributors to the 323 article on wikipedia I found you and your great interest in the subject area. Therefore I am asking for at least some contribution for someone with related interests. All that is needed is to sign-up, maybe read the Editing rules (I need to edit that whole thing), and there you go.
I also need some help and suggestions as the site is a bit new and could use some experienced wiki writers, managers, and editors to help, as currently there are very few people actually contributing.
I know that it is asking a lot asking someone like you to help contribute, however I offer the benefit that any great article that is written or contributed by you will be posted on about on a blog post relating to that article with some names attached. These will then get recognized by advertising and posting on social media and such. Also you would be free to contribute archival stuff, interviews, etc relating to personal family stuff from that time period as I have done in great length.
I would be ever greatful if there is anything that you could help contribute, even if it is some sort of suggestion or referral to someone else.
