Griffin Layne

Hi there, it's a shame they didn't allow the "New Yorker" language to slide on wiki. I'm a New Yorker myself.

I noticed a great deal of changes made to Mr. Layne's wiki page. Thank you for your edits. I believe the page appears much more concise. I would appreciate it if you would remove the "stub" notification and "notability" notification on the page. There are wiki articles that directly link to the artists wiki page and we will be adding as much media coverage as possible to further the notability. Mr. Layne is a signed recording artist, has won notable awards, spends a lot of time with organized charities and has been a major contributor to the music industry, as well as the humanities.

I respect wikipedias guidelines and will continue to follow them, as it is important to our team.

To un-stub (stub meaning a short article) just add more appropriate content. As for notability, essentially the same thing, add content. WP:MUSICBIO discussion

Will continue to gather media and related materials, as they are made available. Thank you for your help.

The wiki direct links include (Music from Ohio, List of people from Ohio, List of people from Virginia, List of country performers by era, List of country rock musicians and List of country music performers) I would greatly appreciate the removal of the notability link on the page. I will not do it myself, as I did not post it there, but it may have a negative affect on those who wish to view Mr. Layne's accomplishments. I have carefully read and understand the guidelines in the links that you sent me. Thank you for this.

This artist does meet several of the notability guidelines under the WP:MUSICBIO and Wiki's notability guidelines. You are supposed to satisfy one requirement and I see at least four that are satisfied.

1) Griffin Layne Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself.[note 1] This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries[note 2] except for the following: Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about themselves, and all advertising that mentions the musician or ensemble, including manufacturers' advertising.[note 3] Works consisting merely of trivial coverage, such as articles that simply report performance dates, release information or track listings, or the publications of contact and booking details in directories. Articles in a school or university newspaper (or similar), in most cases.

2) Has become one of the most prominent representatives of a notable style or the most prominent of the local scene of a city; note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability. This is why the Fairfax Times interviewed him and wrote a published article (largest portion of entire newspaper devoted to Griffin Layne). Griffin is a Virginia resident and is one of the prominent music figures in the State and County.

3)Has won first, second or third place in a major music competition. He won four industry awards, including winner "best alt rock artist" at the los angeles music awards, best male country artist and best country song. Those are WON and first place awards. Only one award can be won in each of these categories.

4) Has been placed in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network. FM Radio is national. Griffin Layne's music is on several FM stations and he is on the most played list for at least one 93.5 FM.

One by one...

minor publications, and not really "multiple", I take that as more than two significant or national publications.
One article does not make a person prominent. What style? What scene?
None of those are major music competitions, those were awards, and none of them major.
One station does not qualify for national rotation.

1) Multiple means more than two, while these newspapers only covered 300,000 residents at the time of their publications (still seems notable and there is no qualifying number) the newspapers took enough of an interest to reach out and write articles about this artists accomplishments. It does not state in the guidelines that these Newspapers must be National.

2) Mr. Layne is in the Country Music genre, as described by his awards and multiple outlets show this in a google search. Fairfax County, which includes multiple cities, but we can just use Fairfax city as an example, only writes about their local prominent figures and nationally broadcasted figures, as shown in their newspaper. This paper delivers to its 128,000 residents. He has played at CMA Festival, the biggest music festival in the world for Country Music and has won awards across the United States.

3) You are correct. No major awards, according to wiki guidelines.

4) "Has been placed in rotation nationally by a major radio network". Rotation is defined as one spin. Griffin has been placed on rotation in multiple major radio networks.

I apologize for the back and forth, but we are just following the guidelines as expressed. It does not explicitly state that an artist needs X number of media articles in the most syndicated newspaper or television show. It's rather ambiguous. This artist has played in the USA, Europe and South America. His song is on FM radio, nationally, and while the newspapers in question do not cover the United States...they do not have to according to the guidelines for notable musicians.

We will continue to build the article with more media support, but the information provided thus far meets the requirements to at least remove the maintenance tag.

You created the thrice declined Draft:Lohan Yoga. Another user, as their first and only edit, copied the draft into an article. Quite often it can mean the original author creates a new account (WP:SOCKPUPPET), or has another person assist (WP:MEATPUPPET), to do something with which they do not desire to be associated.--☾Loriendrew☽ ☏(ring-ring) 12:54, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Hi Lorien thanks for clearing this up. Yes, one of the members of our organisation must have cut and paste the draft article. It's a big organisation with many members, I did email around asking for help from anyone who is expended with Wikipedia.

Loriendrew, thank you for providing a reason why someone may link to a publisher in a citation. I see the key word as "can" and not "must", and object to citations I provided having non-essentials such as a wiki-link to the publishers wiki-article, but I only provided half the citations, and I don't object enough to fight it on the Nice As Fuck article. Spoon River Anthology -- Percy Grainger

Hi Loriendrew,

Yesterday I heard some lovely pieces on my local classical music station that the announcer said were by Percy Grainger and wer adaptations from Spoon River Anthology. As is my wont, I immediate went to Wikipedia to learn more. I found no mention of an adaptation by Percy Grainger on the Spoon River Anthology page so I went to the list of Percy Grainger's composition. Sure enough, there it was.

I tried to add an additional listing for a Spoon River Anthology adaptation to their page but my first attempt was rejected because I erroneously labeled it as a minor edit. The second attempt has now failed because I failed to provide a reliable source. That source is the Wikipedia page for Percy Grainger's works!

This is only the second time I've submitted an entry to Wikipedia. The first was a clarification. I'm sorry to say that the instructions for editing content really need a fresh look as they are incredibly confusing! In addition to wanting to add the Percy Grainger listing to the Adapations sub-page, I also wanted to add a link to Spoon River on the Grainger page. Absolutely could not figure out how to so that. Please note, I'm not a novice. I was a wiz at using HTML for a very long time!

I understand that you are a bare-bones operation that depends heavily on volunteers. This is one of the reasons that I am a monthly contributor! But, given this experience, unless I have a way to directly communicate with someone when I find a truly glaring omission or error, this will be the last time I try to participate until things are simplified.

PS - Just saw that I should insert four tildes before my signature. Seriously? I suppose it's to prevent bots from trying to mess things up but for an older person like myself with not the greatest vision in the world, those tiny messages are easily overlooked.

The example you give above is an example of original research, something you know because of something your parents said, you just "know" is true, or in this case a DJ (can you really call a classical music host a DJ?) Anyway, that host must have gotten it from a source, so the information must be out there. This is where verifiability comes into play. If those pieces are based on the poems then there should be something in writing about it somewhere, which then could be added along with the source using the guidelines at WP:Citing sources.

As for the signature, looking at the box where you edit, along the top are some icons, such as "B" for bold, "I" for italics, then some squiggly thing with a pencil. Clicking that will add not only the tildes (4 of which add your signature as well as the time and date).--☾Loriendrew☽ ☏(ring-ring) 22:02, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

re:David Bergelson

I am not sure why correcting inaccurate and unprofessional information is not constructive. An unknown person had removed a previous quality draft of the article and irresponsibly replaced it with the one I edited. I am a power user of computers and a distinguished professor at Purdue University. I am not related to Bergelson. I read the guidelines and I do not see any violations on my part. I did delete some invisible mark-up on the accidental references that I removed. Please help me re-establish historical and literary accuracy. There are multiple issues with the edit. The major change is the non-encyclopedic content that was added. There is a manual of style and format to follow. Removing sourced content is also not helpful. If there is controversy then offer an alternate view, but censoring out one ideology for another is against maintining a neutral or balanced point of view. In ref to the Concealer wiki, the link I added was not spam. The article has more in depth details about concealers, types and applications. It does not promote or advertise any product. There is not even an anchored text in the content to product. If you compare the reference link on the Concealer page, it has the same information and the link I added has even more information than the other 3.

Hi Loriendrew, just a follow up to this response, the edit I made the the page was to try and keep it consistent with the caption immediately to the left of it that reads "A king cobra in its defensive posture". I wasn't sure if "defencive" was correct, but I new Defense was definitely correct. Swimmy (Friends) Deletion

In the future, please do not report pages as vandalism and hoaxes or recommend speedy deletion unless you actually have proof of the subject being a hoax. Swimmy is a real character on the American sitcom Friends. Though he plays a minor role, his effect on the group is large. The Swimmy (Friends) page was created to compile information about an often overlooked character that has little information and documentation online. He does exist in the Friends plot, and I would greatly appreciate it if you didn't delete pages willy nilly without reason. Thank you Kn99cowen (talk) 03:24, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

Information in articles need to be verifiable through reliable sourcing. One reference was cited in the article which mentioned neither the character nor the portraying actor. Note that I work for the organization and was updating the page as a lot of what was there is out of date. I'm unsure of what your note meant: 'An edit that you recently made to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation seemed to be a test and has been removed.'

The version I uploaded was final and would need you to reinstate the changes I made.

Wikipedia has a very nice Manual of Style which you crumpled up and threw in the trash. Your edits broke formatting and references. Also have a look at WP:Citing sources. Twice you changed the spelling of certain words, namely color and luster. These are not spelling mistakes but variations of spelling the same word between American and British spelling styles. hello loriendrew, i created a wikipedia account just to inquire about how on this page you deleted an entry about something called "One Thousand Ninjas" with a predicted release date of 2076. im not the person who contributed this but i am extremely curious as i cannot find evidence of this anywhere else on the internet... how did this person know? are they a time traveller trying to warn us about One Thousand Ninjas? does this sort of thing happen often? perhaps i can brush it off as just Trolling and not something to be legitimately thinking about? or are you mystified too and we'll just have to wait until 2076 to see? thanks for your time and keep up the good work, it looks like you do a lot of it here on the ol' free encyclopedia!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fishingbabe (talk • contribs) 09:09, 10 December 2016 (UTC)

Seminole Heights

Hi, you removed my edit to the Seminole Heights article showing that the two-headed gator seal is a hoax saying that I didn't provide a source. But I did provide a source—images of the original unaltered 1912 Hillsborough High School yearbook pages that were used to fake the Seminole Heights ad with the "two-headed gator seal." That proves that the seal is a hoax, because the source for the seal is credited as the 1912 Hillsborough High School yearbook which does have those ads in it, without a graphic image. George Lakey (response to your ring)

Hi Lorien,

I do not understand how this happened. I am morally certain that there was an article on George Lakey when I posted that addition to the List of peace activists article. I would not have deliberately posted something that did not meet the specs, and furthermore, I do not know where I would have gotten his date of birth or the link to the Movement for a New Society unless I had found them in that article on WikiPedia.

But I also see that the edit history of the George Lakey article begins in December this year, so I am mystified. I was not involved in any way with that article.

I cannot guess why I have a clear recollection of that article actually existing when I made that addition, given in addition the information about DOB and Movement for a New Society that I put in my addition. Was the original article deleted? (Unlikely as you reverted within a few hours of my addition). Or is my aging memory (I am 76) just playing tricks on me?

Anyhow, my edit summary to my re-addition was made in good faith.

Zakrice Speedy Deletion

Hi Loriendrew, I removed the speedy deletion template from Zakrice. I could be wrong, but I think the article makes a credible claim of significance. This is because the article indicates the subject was featured on an album with its own article by an artist with its own article as well. It appears to be "reasonably plausible" and "plausibly indicates that additional research (possibly offline, possibly in specialized sources) has a reasonable chance of demonstrating notability is a claim of significance". ^BE _CK ^Y _SA ^{Y L}E _S 06:00, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

I tend to not place db:hoax on BLPs, as technically this should have received one instead of the db:band. Credible claims should come with an attempt at proof, and given the author's previous hijack attempt at Zachg diff it just appears wrong.--☾Loriendrew☽ ☏(ring-ring) 14:56, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

Please see MOS:IMAGES and what not to do if if an edit is undone. The lead image should be a common representation of the subject.
