Deletion of Weathermandan page

Talk:Weathermandan From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Contested deletion[edit] This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (This is a new type of school project that my teacher assigned. So if possible, could I keep this picture up, as it is factual but might not appear to be relevant. Thank you, Mncreations or WeatherManDan ) --Mncreations (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mncreations (talkcontribs) 04:46, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

I've declined your request as speedy for significance doesn't apply to fictional characters. I'd suggest prod or AfD which are better places for this. The part is in the lower part of the list, but the actress has films against her name - but I'm not going to try to assess whether or not she deserves an article yet. This is a credited part, but looks minor (not only in age...), but I don't think it merits an article. Peridon (talk) 16:25, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

I've sorted out the wikilinks in it, just in case it survives. Peridon (talk) 16:33, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
BLP's are easy, notability of fictional (or historical fiction) characters is another thing. Guess I'll just AfD them in the future.--☾Loriendrew☽ (talk) 03:34, 7 December 2014 (UTC)

Dear Loriendrew, just a little note to ask you, if you have the time and inclination, to have another look at the page on Santosh Mehrotra that you thought ought to be deleted. I know this persons work (I read the book with Jolly) and believe him to be notable. I think think I have done enough to remove the autobiographical stuff - and would be inclined to remove lots of the references to reviews of the books once the AFD is over if it is kept as they don't seem helpful to the article but might be useful for some of the technicalities of the Afd. Would you have any suggestions to improve the article - and are the other things that you think might best be removed or added? I think Deacon's quote and his work on the Indian HDR stuff could be enough. Best wishes, (Msrasnw (talk) 11:59, 17 December 2014 (UTC))

Hello There,

Hope all is well. I saw your WP:RS tagged to the Upper State New York University USNYU article for deletion. It appears that the University did exist at one point. I see some past students have LinkedIn accounts.

See LinkedIn Alumni-->https://www.linkedin.com/edu/alumni?name=Upper+State+New+York+University&trk=prof-edu-school-name

Thanks and happy holidays to you and yours

Linkedin is not a reliable source.--☾Loriendrew☽ (talk) 00:31, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

I understand that your personal opinion as to linkedin may not be a reliable source, but my point was that the University had to have existed if former students listed this school on their resumes. Furthermore, you can't add schools on your resume as potential employers will check to confirm. Although there's not a lot of references, the article was built on information that was available. It's kind of hard to pull information from a defunct university. Please note that linkedin is a public website just like wikipedia Millions of people rely on linked to look at resumes of potential employees. So I wouldn't say that it's not reliable.

Have a great day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cabdkc123 (talkcontribs) 00:44, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

Unwarranted removal of edits.

Your removal of my edits to the grand jury page presents harm to the general public. Please refrain from such future removals of my content, even if it is in fact not constructive in your opinion. If you have an issue with specific information, use my talk page, or enter dispute resolution, don't simply remove or revert the information, as it will only serve escalate an issue that could readily have you answering to a grand jury.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Matthew J Falkner (talkcontribs) 17:37, 29 December 2014

Artist deletion under section A7

Hi Loriendrew,

I saw you nominated my artist (Cameron Adair)'s page for deletion under Wikipedia section A7.

I have thoroughly reviewed the Notability Guidelines and Notability Guidelines (music) to meet the general Notability criteria and that for Musicians and Ensembles and would like to please contest this decision.

Cameron has performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall during his education at California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles. His debut studio album was recorded and mixed by Multiple Grammy Award Nominee Chris Gehringer at Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco and Sterling Sound Studios in New York. It received worldwide distribution. He is also a former staff audio engineer at Hyde Street Studios and has worked with notable artist and engineers including Patrick (Bischoff) Brown, John Vanderslice, JMSN, and others.

He is performing at Noise Pop Festival in 2015 alongside Mick Jenkins (rapper).

In 2013 he was the subject of an intervention by Kristina Wandzilak, creator of Addicted (TV series) and was admitted to Crossroads Centre where he became friends with Anthony James (artist) and Alice Dellal.

It appears these credits meet the Verifiability criterion for Notability. Can you please advise? Thank You, Kristen Tyler (Cameron Adair MGMT) — Preceding unsigned comment added by KristenTyler1 (talkcontribs) 01:36, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Incorrect, I nominated the article for deletion via WP:AFD under the criteria that it fails WP:MUSICBIO, it was another person who made the WP:A7 nomination which you inappropriately removed. You also have a conflict of interest with the subject.--☾Loriendrew☽ (talk) 02:28, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Rollback granted

Hi Loriendrew. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Redirection of Harpur's Ferry page

Hi Loriendew. I know that we spoke about this topic a while back. I gave you some links to articles and sources for Harpur's Ferry SVAS. Why was the article deleted? HFSVAS is a nationally recognized collegiate agency. I see other wiki articles on collegiate EMS agencies as well. Is there someone that can explain better to me why this article was removed? I put a lot of work into that page and made sure to cite sources only to see it removed with no clear explanation. It is very discouraging when people come along who know nothing about your topic and seem to arbitrarily decide it is not noteworthy despite clear references.

Corn Nuts

Not sure why we cannot add that CORN NUTS is a registered trademark of Kraft Foods in the first section to make sure that the public knows CORN NUTS is not a generic term. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.236.202.6 (talk) 23:16, 9 March 2015 (UTC) Plus the information you added is incorrect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.236.202.6 (talk) 23:17, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

  1. To start, Corn nut is a generic term. Cornnuts or Corn nut#CORNNUTS is a specific product, now currently owned by Kraft. It has its own section within the article along with other brand names in different locations. If someone searches wiki for "Cornnuts" they will be taken directly to that section.
  2. I changed the citation from the USPTO search to another location. It satisfies the need to prove the claim of trademark ownership. It was the only thing added. According to the trademark search Kraft owns the name. Which part is "wrong"?--☾Loriendrew☽ (talk) 17:10, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

Alison Sudol

hi loriendrew - i'm new to wikipedia so i hope this works! :-) the reason i have created a new page for alison sudol is that she is no longer working under the A Fine Frenzy moniker. as a historical page dedicated to AFF i assume the wiki/afinefrenzy page should remain but as she moves forward with her new vocation as an actress this is very separate to her previous career as AFF. ie. Alison Sudol is not just A Fine Frenzy and as such deserves a different wiki entry. i hope that makes sense? thanks

Talk Page for Crisis Intervention was Deleted

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Crisis_intervention&action=edit&redlink=1

I have never seen an entire talk page be deleted before. How can discussion take place on improving the article if there is no talk page? The editor that deleted the talk pages cites it was an "attack page" and a "Biography of a living Person". If such content was on the page the logical thing would have been to undo it from the talk page if valid; not remove the entire talk page. If you are an Admin then please do something to get this talk page restored to Wikipedia. It seems some powerful special interest group does not want any discussion on this article topic. Going to have to disagree with your closure and ask for a review. Three delete and redirects vs one redirect does not make for a redirect.--☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 03:27, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
There was no consensus to keep it, admittedly, but every participant beyond the nominator believed the article should be redirected. Admittedly, it is a WP:BOLD closure, but anything otherwise would ignore the underlying consensus that those seeking information on Eduardo should be redirected to article about his band. And Adoil Descended (talk) 03:33, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
All I see is an edit war over this. @Loriendrew, did you request a "review"? I restored the redirect for the moment, but I don't want to see any more edit-warring over it.--Bbb23 (talk) 04:15, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
@Bbb23: I CSD'ed it due to the IP renewing the article from before the redirect, not because of the resultant AfD action. I did ask for a Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2015 April 18, closed without participation.--☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 17:44, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
Let's see if I have the history straight. The AfD was closed with a redirect. You reverted that redirect once back in April. The AfD closer reverted you. Then we get to July. The IP restored the article. You reverted, which is fine. You and the IP went back and forth a couple of times. You tagged it per A4 while it was in the redirect state. Your motive may have been good, but that makes no sense. At the point that you and the IP were going back and forth, you should have sought semi-protection for the redirect. Then the IP restored the redirect. I'm assuming that was a mistake because they were so intent on removing the tag, but who knows? Anyway, then I stepped in ... and out, as it were. As of now, the redirect is holding. The article is unprotected. I'll enforce the redirect as necessary by keeping the redirect on my watchlist. I have a very big watchlist, so in case I miss something exciting, please let me know.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:53, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

I would like to note, that while you have recommended that the Anzalone Liszt Grove Research concerning wage theft and Berkley University data concerning worker reliance on public assistance be added to a page be added to a page called, "fast food service"-- this page does not exist. I would further like to add that all four of the companies' pages I added this research to, are a few of the most prevalent fast food companies in the U.S with heavy presences in New York City making the sources applicable to them. All of those companies are cited in another report that states," Low wages and lack of benefits at the 10 largest fast-food companies in the united States cost tax- payersanestimated$3.8billionperyear" (see citation below). I am thinking it might be applicable to cite the heavy presence of the restaurants in New York City as an additional source for the first source, though not the Berkeley one.

WQXR, WNYC and New York Public Radio

I don't understand why you keep removing New York City on WQXR because while they are licensed to Newark, their studios and antenna are located in Manhattan and their ID says Newark and New York. They basically are a New York City station despite the Newark license city. For WNYC, I was trying to make a section for Parent company New York Public Radio, which keeps redirecting to WNYC's page. There should be separate pages for New York Public Radio and WNYC. Finally, I put WQXR's logo with their Ossining repeater on it and that also got removed. Suediaz104 (talk) 00:47, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

Radio stations are licensed to a location. This place can be found on the FCC license which is linked at the bottom of most station articles (external links section). To be specific, WQXR-FM is licensed to Newark, NJ, per the FCC license. They may service the NY metro area, have their main transmission antenna in NYC, and even their main studio, but they are licensed to Newark. As for your addition of the image, it was removed from wikicommons due to copyright infringement. Thank you for reminding me about your sockpuppetry.--☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 03:57, 23 May 2015 (UTC)

Leighton Meester is Pregnant

Where have you been lately? Have you seen any articles on her being pregnant? Here is proof: http://celebritybabies.people.com/2015/05/18/leighton-meester-pregnant-expecting-first-child-adam-brody/ (Muye123 (talk) 22:18, 13 July 2015 (UTC)) Muye123 (talk) 22:18, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Nowhere in that article does it say that she says she is pregnant. It is a picture of a woman. Infer what you want for yourself, but never assume a woman is pregnant unless she (or someone authorized on her behalf) says so.--☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 22:43, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
Agreed. They haven't officially confirmed anything. She could just be putting on weight or wearing a fake baby bump for a role or something. Unlikely, but since it is still speculation, no adding. --Ebyabe talk - Union of Opposites ‖ 22:45, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

If you have an objection to my edit please raise it on the talk page of the article. I raised my edit as relevant on the talk page in 2013; there were no observation or objections. I have some time now to improve this section. I'd be pleased to note any suggestions you have for improvement. Ensygnia and its IP is by far the single most relevant company in this space as far as my research has shown. Its IP is of encyclopaedic note. It is appropriately referenced to Tech Crunch a leading and well respected publication. I don't see the relevance of GO4Q - especially in isolation. More detail and work is needed on this section and there are more companies to add. I started work on this a number of years ago, but took a wiki-break. If you have more to add to improve the section please do so. But please do not revert my edits, it is not appropriate to do so unilaterally - especially when this has been raised on the talk page without objection - and there has been ample time to comment. Thank you.

If content needs to be deleted or amended with this article, please advise. The guidelines clearly state that you should not use the COI tag unless there are significant or substantial problems with the article's neutrality as a result of the contributor's involvement. The article is neither too flattering nor too disparaging. On the contrary, negative source notes (such as the Mail newspaper article) have been left in place. All the amendments are derived from information which is in the public domain. No opinions have been expressed, merely facts recorded, all of which are verified by external sources.

We would remind you that a public pronouncement of conflict of interest (which this amounts to) could be construed as harassment, unless it is substantiated. Kindly elaborate on the “significant or substantial problems with the article’s neutrality”, or else remove the tag. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EditBGN (talkcontribs) 06:00, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

WQXR Broadcast Area

One last thing. I looked at 105.9 FM's wiki before WQXR and WCAA swapped frequencies and it said WCAA, City of License: Newark, New Jersey and Broadcast Area: New York, New York. Why can't WQXR-FM's wiki say the same thing since the city is the main place where the signal comes in. Please don't put New York Metro Area since the signal only reaches mostly the 5 boroughs of NYC. I would rather put New York, New York. Thank you very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.107.60.19 (talk) 04:28, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Your opinion cannot override sourced information.
  1. Per their website: "WQXR is at 105.9 on the FM dial in the New York City metropolitan area"
  2. It does not matter what population is served, the station is licensed to a specific location. The City of license in the infobox reflects to where the FCC license is granted.

WQXR Branding

Hi Loriendrew, I just wanted you to know that the branding for WQXR is Classical 105.9 FM WQXR. It's the branding the station uses so please don't revert my edit because it's correct. Thank you so much for your attention. Also, if WQXR is licensed to a city about a half hour away from the city and the station are based in the city, can it still be considered a New York City station. The license is not the problem. NPR's station list is. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.107.60.19 (talk) 04:19, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Regarding Blair Waldorf

Hi, Lorindrew!

I'm sorry that I deleted the conversation about Blair Waldorf. I was actually trying to add a message regarding why I had changed her picture and I accidentally deleted the whole discussion while trying to delete a sentence I wrote. (Whoops!) I tried to revert it but I couldn't figure out how to, so I just added my message (which got lost in your revert) and explained why I had changed the picture. I re-added a message (without deleting the text :)) if you want to look at it, but I'm going to give you a synopsis anyways.

I think that Blair's picture should be one of her as portrayed in the TV show by Leighton Meester because all of the other characters have pictures of their TV portrayers as their profile picture, so why shouldn't Blair? I am an actively engaged Gossip Girl watcher and I often look at Wiki pages while I am watching to clarify some things in the show, and I do not like that all of the other characters have pictures of the actors but Blair does not. Also, the book is more popular than the TV show, and Blair is more widely recognized as Leighton Meester; not the unknown model on the cover.

And I'm sorry for all of the edits I made a few days ago with the pictures, I couldn't figure out how to add one, so they are all from my failed attempts at changing the picture.

I am a supervisor over at WikiAnswers, and while I know it is different than WikiPedia, I know how it feels to have your work that you are so proud of changed by some random kid on the internet. I eventually realized that other people have opinions and I needed to respect that. I know how the revert system works and how some IP user changing your authoritative answer/article is really annoying but please take the time to acknowledge other users opinions. Because IP users are actually the majority of viewers to your article. (I would've made an account but I don't really want to because I have no use for it).

Thanks for listening to my concerns!

Harassment? Not a chance

I was not harassing RyanTQuinn, every time I make a non-vandalism, correct edit on Ed Sheeran's page, he's always there to delete them, calling my edits "weak". Check the edit history for the 21 of November, he's basically stating that my edits aren't important enough to be on the page, and won't even discuss it with me, instead just delete EVERY edit without even reading them. Since I joined Wikipedia, no one has even touch Sheeran's page, so I decided to update it with recent events and his accomplishments. But now RyanTQuinn just comes out of nowhere deleting and calling my edits weak? And there're not warned about that, but I get accused of harassment? Where's the justice? You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Linda Thompson

Hello Loriendrew, thank you for your help with the citations I added to the Linda Thompson page. I would like to ask your advice on how it could have been done better. For the film and TV credits, what would be a more reliable source? For example in this line:

"She later had small one-episode parts in such television shows as "CHiPs , Starsky and Hutch, Vega$, Fantasy Island, The Fall Guy, and Beverly Hills, 90210."

Small one-time appearances might never have gotten a journalistic mention per se (let alone academic), so then how could these credits be verified to Wikipedia standards? They do seem relevant, particularly in aggregate, but how can they be verified?

As to Amazon also not being a valid source, this confuses me because I read in this guideline that, while journalistic or academic sources are preferred, a link to a commerce site for book or a piece of music can serve to verify "things like titles and running times". In this case, to put a citation to co-authorship of song lyrics, I added a link to the print version of those lyrics, where the authors are clearly stated... does that not seem valid?

Thank you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mityorn (talkcontribs) 18:01, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Jay L Hawkins Wikipage

Hello and good morning. Yesterday I published a biographical page for myself for the purposes of my work (film industry professional) and I wanted to know if my references have been reviewed and if I need to change more information. Page in question: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_L_Hawkins — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaystunts (talkcontribs) 17:37, 30 December 2015 (UTC)

A number of serious problems are evident:
  1. It is an WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY
  2. As an autobio it is assumed to be a promotional article
  3. There are no valid and reliable sources, essentially references "about" you, not "by" you
  4. There is no evidence of notability to warrant inclusion as an article
Generally, once a person meets those standards someone will write an article about them.--☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 19:23, 30 December 2015 (UTC)

Notability on Year lists

I just want Loriendrew to notice that the two people I added to 1991 births, Rachel Ballinger and Gabbie Hanna are both famous youtubers where,

  • Rachel is over 1 million subscribers on YouTube, which is excellent, and is the younger sister of the impersonator of Miranda Sings, who is very well known.
  • Gabbie is verified on YouTube and Vine, because she is a famous person who deserves to be put on that page

Loriendrew just a piece of advice, look the people up before you delete them off of the page, because they are famous.— Preceding unsigned comment added by AJRBPB (talkcontribs) 00:56 2 January 2016
