A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Tony Radevski is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tony Radevski (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 04:16, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

MOS:FILM

Did I just learn something new about the Manual of Style? MOS:FILM states that "(film)" should be used instead of "(movie)" in an article title, but does it say the same thing for article text? Art LaPella (talk) 04:19, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Top Ten List

Excuse me, but aren't you the one who started the discussion about top ten lists? Why is the discussion closed with no consenus? I have tried to continue the conversation, but nobody else has put more input into the topic.--Norgizfox5041 (talk) 17:45, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Pearale Jame

You're welcome. The edit came to my attention because the editor has been inserting the same sort of gear info in scores of other music pages. I haven't looked at the Pearl Jam in a long time (ever since -5- stopped working on PJ articles), but remember you saying you'd keep an eye on it. If you want me to take a closer look sometime to see how it's changed over the years and if anything needs to be restored or excised, let me know. WesleyDodds (talk) 12:35, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

I think I'll be able to compare the article to its initial FA version and revert portions when necessary sometime this week. Once I am done, do you want to help me go through the albums clear out any clutter that's accumulated since -5- stopped editing PJ pages? WesleyDodds (talk) 12:05, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Ok, so I went through and compared today's version of the page to a version from September 2009 (the last time I spotted -5- editing it) and made appropriate revisions. Not much has changed actually--the drastic differences are that the date formatting in refs was altered article-wide from dd-mm-year to American dating (I don't get why, given WP:CITEVAR) and naturally news about the band's latest activities has cropped up. So aside from a need to replace the remaining primary refs (mainly to the band's website), the main issue to tackle is everything after the first two paragraphs in the "Reissues and Backspacer" section, which is just a listing of very specific tour dates mainly sourced to the band's website. Also, I didn't notice the "Basketball buddy" talk page discussion until after I reverted that portion of the page, so let me know what you'd like to do about that. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:21, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Bonjour Lugnuts!

Wow! He competed thre times at the Olympics! And you don't thing, the results could be interesting for a reader? Why a reader should be interested in such articles? They are Desinformation. Not more - but sadly not less. Don't you belive, it would be more helpfull if you write maybe only one of five "articles" - but with more informations? And please don't tell me about "swarm intelligence" and by time the other authors will expand such articles. I found articles were is written than athletes will compete at the 2006 Winter Olympics. I've found such articles in 2012! The most of the articles will be ignored from now on. And existing articles will be not written by better authors - because they will think, there's already an article! OK, en:WP has with such articles reach 4 million articles. But should we talk about the qualitiy? Marcus Cyron (talk) 10:07, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Getting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games

Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. Thank you. --LauraHale (talk) 04:36, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi, why did you revert my edit with summary "clean"? Imho a link to a trailer is extra useful info, and it doesn't make sense put {{Belgium-film-stub}} after categories since they're displayed above categories. Also, I wonder where you found that the film was in French (because it's in fact mainly in Dutch)? Regards, SPQRobin (talk) 00:18, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the links, though I do not agree with your implication that my single YouTube link would be a "collection of links". For the stub template, I did not know this was official policy, I'm going to propose to change that because it does not make any sense. And you did not answer my last question, which I was curious about. Thanks, SPQRobin (talk) 19:14, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Amour

The film "Amour" is known by and being released under its original French title in the English-speaking world, so AMOUR is the correct title for the article. The policies you references support my change. The official title is AMOUR[1] and every article written in English about the film calls it AMOUR. "Love" is sometimes put in brackets for the uninitiated. Thanks. Film Fan (talk) 13:36, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Stubs

According to WP:IDEALSTUB stubs is better to be places two newlines after categories not immediately after them. -- Magioladitis (talk) 10:36, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

I think your advice is irrelevant to what I mentioned above. -- Magioladitis (talk) 22:16, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

If you disagree with the Manual of Style and/or WP:IDEALSTUB you should raise the matter somewhere in the Village pump or in the Manual of Style talk page. -- Magioladitis (talk) 08:44, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

I noticed from the discussion below is not only WP:IDEALSTUB you seem to disagree. There are other manual guidelines too. I know I am stating the obvious but just in case someone follows this discussion and can contribute in this discussion. -- Magioladitis (talk) 08:51, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Per your comment here. WP:IDEALSTUB is part of the Manual of Style. The Wikipedia:Manual of Style is a guideline. Check Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines. It reads: "Guidelines are sets of best practices that are supported by consensus. Editors should attempt to follow guidelines, though they are best treated with common sense, and occasional exceptions may apply." Sorry I insist but I don't understand why you add and remove empty space. In some case you add newlines and in some cases you removed them. I am confused. -- Magioladitis (talk) 18:42, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

You're violating guidelines

First, I would appreciate your not calling a difference of opinion vandalism. That's a very serious accusation, clearly and objectively unwarranted in this case, and I will ask for admin intervention if you make that factually inaccurate allegation again.

Secondly, you have been violating WP:LEAD, which says the lead contains no footnotes that can go in the article body, which is where I've placed the book reference -- in the Awards section, where according to guidelines it belongs. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:40, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

To answer a point raised in your contentious edit-summary: See WP:LEADCITE. Footnotes are only in the lead for controversial material or that likely to be challenged; a credited director of a movie is neither of those things, and would require consensus in any event. Additionally, WP:CITE says, "Citations are also often discouraged in the lead section of an article, insofar as it summarizes information for which sources are given later in the article, although such things as quotations and particularly controversial statements should be supported by citations even in the lead." --Tenebrae (talk) 16:14, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

The Lunch Date

Short films generally aren't categorized as directorial debut films, which is why I made the edits that I made. QuasyBoy (talk) 16:00, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

YouTube Links to Public Domain films

Correct, YouTube is not "Mere collections of public domain or other source material". Keyword being "mere". This does not mean that including links to the Public Domain films, whether on Archive.org or YouTube, is in violation. I refer you to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:External_links#What_can_normally_be_linked , specifically "There is no blanket ban on linking to YouTube or other user-submitted video sites, as long as the links abide by the guidelines on this page (see Restrictions on linking and Links normally to be avoided)." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lazlocollins (talkcontribs) 07:03, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

List of submissions to the 85th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film

To Whom It May Concern:

I wanted to take this issue to User talk before it escalates further. May I remind you that "Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia...Even if misguided, willfully against consensus, or disruptive, any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia is not vandalism.". Mislabelling good-faith edits as vandalism can be considered harmful.

You know very well that by adding the flags that have been all on previous pages (that you just unnecessarily deleted in order to escalate the argument), I am trying to improve the page. We don't agree on how the page should look, but this is not vandalism and any attempts to label it as such is inappropriate. MOS Flags notes that Flag icons should only be inserted in infoboxes in those cases where they convey information in addition to the text. Flag icons are visually distracting in infoboxes and lead to unnecessary disputes when over-used. Examples of acceptable exceptions would be military battle infoboxes templates and infoboxes that include international competitions, such as FIFA World Cup or the Olympic Games.

The competition enumerated in these pages is an international competition. Among the cases where you can see flags in Infoboxes include http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miss_World_2010, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurovision_2013, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980_Summer_Olympics_boycott#Non-participating_countries, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980_Summer_Olympics_boycott#Non-participating_countries and, until you changed longstanding practice, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_submissions_to_the_82nd_Academy_Awards_for_Best_Foreign_Language_Film. These are just examples that I have found in the past five minutes. I would be happy to provide other examples if it would help.

All of these flags will disappear in three weeks when the official list comes out and the submissions are all settled. So, this should become such a contentious issue.

I think you have had a great idea to add the shortlists to the User Talk section. Thank you for that. Let's try and settle this amicably and not throw words like "vandalism" around. You are the one who has deleted my work in the first place without any specified reason and you are the one who publicly called me a vandal, which you know is not true. I don't pretend to know everything about Wikipedia and you clearly know more than I do. However, I have read the rules and have concluded that the flags are allowed in Info Boxes based on numerous prior instances. Thank you very much.

Hi, I have outlined a proposal for a potential project that you might be interested in at User:Betty Logan/BRD enforcer.
