AMS Euler example[edit]

I was asked to use Palatino or some other suitable roman-type font for the example. As you have redone the example, can you please do the same, as well as antialias your output. Thanks Dysprosia 10:57, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't quite understand you. Do you want me to use palatino at the AMS Euler picture? -- ( drini's page ) 16:36, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, either Palatino or some other suitable font, and please also antialias your output. Dysprosia 00:03, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you want to use palatino to showcase AMS Euler? those are differnet fonts. I think I used either computer roman or concrete for the upright, I can't recall. -- ( drini's page ) 00:26, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, I'll do this myself. Dysprosia 04:33, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help newbie with disambiguation[edit]

Hi, Drini I write to you since you left a welcome message on my talk page. I have been trying to eradicate all links to the disambiguation article Ministry, so for now, all I have left is some sort of Portal (Portal:Christianity) where it does not seem that my edits are working and a lot of user pages. So the questions: what should I do regarding the user pages put a polite note on the talkk page or ignore them? and how do I edit a Portal article? My goal is to remove it from the active list on the Wikipedia:Disambiguation_pages_with_links.
usefull link: Special:Whatlinkshere/Ministry
Angelbo 01:38, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification What I mean is that I can not edit the Portal:Christianity but somebody else did that for me. so that problem is now over. The reamining problem is what I do about userpags that link to a disambiguation page. Angelbo 21:33, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Douglas Stevens[edit]

I realize there wasn't much discussion either way, but 7 keep votes and 2 delete votes = delete? I'm not challenging your discretion to close this as you want, but I am mildly surprised. -- JJay 07:31, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm only applying guidelines about nn-bio (that should've even be speedied since it doesn't claim notability). As in my comment, for example, "being a singer" is not a claim of notaility, but "being a singer who has done this and that and being on such top list..." constitutes a claim of notability. Or for instance, being a politician alone isn't enough, but "being a politician who run for some office and who is related to..." will. The article iddnt establish the notability of the subject, and then, since AFD is Not A Vote, I close it as delete.
However, remember that the reason for adminship not being a big deal is that pretty much anything can be reversed (as in this case) and I have no problems if someone think it'd be better to revive the entry. -- ( drini's page ) 21:42, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your response. I can't remember how Stevens was described in the article. However, I'm not sure that your analogy with "being a singer" is correct given that there are only 20-25 Anglican Bishops in Australia as shown at Anglican Church of Australia. We also have a category for Anglican bishops Category:Anglican bishops. -- JJay 23:37, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that could have been mentioned, as it standed there was no way to know. I'll undelete it. -- ( drini's page ) 23:38, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'm not faulting you, as I said above there was really no discussion in the AfD one way or the other. -- JJay 23:51, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rick Ferrusi copyvio[edit]

Since you've already been involved in this, I'd like your advice. I've moved a stub from Ferrusi Rick to Rick Ferrusi. I now see however that this article has been previously deleted (rightly) as a copyvio, and that the talk page is protected.

The talk page has a notice on it using a template that I think was designed for use on articles, not talk pages, and which links to yet another copy of the deleted copyvio material, in a non-standard namespace. Andrewa 05:46, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Strangely described edit[edit]

This edit doesn't seem to have done what's advertised (that is, it's removed some whitespace and decapsed an "External Link", rather than substd a template. I haven't used AWB, but is this a bug? — Matt Crypto 00:01, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, while doing the checks, it optionally lets you to do minor fixes (like External link capitalization), so even though it didn't have an unsubsted unisgne template, I saved it anyway for it was ok, however I didn't bother to change the edit summary I'm using for now, sorry about the confusion. -- ( drini's page ) 00:03, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Friendly Reminder[edit]

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

Thesquire (talk - contribs) 00:23, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While you were no doubt fast and furiously putting up {{unsigned}}s on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Guido (slang term), you missed at least one subst. -- Thesquire (talk - contribs) 00:28, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
heh, yes, actually those green tags a re a personal tempalte as well :D -- ( drini's page ) 00:28, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your question, I'm not sure why it's there but I'm guessing it's so that if the message is substituted on a talk page, someone looking at the message can easily see that originated from the template, which is especially helpful for budding vandal-fighters. — Knowledge Seeker 02:05, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's obvious that the template originates from there, it says Test5, I did that because it pollutes the "what links here" page, even if the template is using in a subst:ted way (thus making difficult to find isntances of unsubsted templates) -- ( drini's page ) 02:08, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry; I don't see where it says "Test5" when one uses the template. Could you point it out? Thanks for explaining your motivation; that is quite logical. Perhaps changing it to "from Template:Test" (without linking) would accompish both ends? — Knowledge Seeker 05:46, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I thought we were talking about Test5 template, I changed {{Test}} to Test I guess Template:Test withouth the brackets would have worked better. -- ( drini's page ) 05:48, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, so I am still learning about Wikipedia. I just got really tired of everybody changing that image over and over again. Sorry.--Max Talk (add)Contributions 04:11, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to Locke Cole (the uploader of the non-IE-safe SVG icon from which this IE-safe PNG version was derived), it's a lookalike from an LGPL icon set. I noted this in the description, and you might have considered entertaining the possibility, rather than dismissing it out of hand.

You've repeatedly referred to this as the original Firefox logo (and you even cited Mozilla's "identity guidelines"), so it seems that you've decided to assume bad faith (despite the fact that I'm the person who went to the trouble of assembling the GPL icon to which you reverted). —David Levy 14:18, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not assuming bad faith, that would be me assuming you did it so you could violate copyright on purpose. But given that no decision of mine is good nowadays, I'll just stay away of the damn thing. -- ( drini's page ) 19:27, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I explicitly indicated in the description that the image was taken from an LGPL icon set. Given the fact that you rejected that claim as false (without even bothering to discuss it with anyone), how could you have been assuming anything else? —David Levy 01:49, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Poodle crossbreed deletion[edit]

I see that you deleted the poodle crossbreed pages that were being nominated for deletion. I'm wondering how you decided that the discussion on the topic was a consensus for deletion! As you can see, the voters are 50/50 for delete vs. keep, and you should note that the original nominator withdrew his "delete" vote and changed it to a neutral after reconsidering. Furthermore, it is confusing to me that we've decided to delete these poodle crossbreed pages because qualities apparently don't always breed true (so therefore there's no valid information on them, according to Trysha). However, we've decided NOT to delete the Goldendoodle and Cockapoo pages because although they are also a "roll of the dice," those are arbitrarily defined as too notable to delete! How can we simply define which poodle crossbreeds are notable and which ones are not? I urge you to reconsider your decision to delete these pages. -Vontafeijos 05:41, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  1. (cur) (last) 22:21, 24 January 2006 Drini (WP:NOT official policy states that user pages are only to be used for information relevant to your work on wikipedia)

That's an interesting reason considering:

  • A good start is to add a little information about yourself, possibly including contact information (email, instant messaging, etc), a photograph, your real name, your location, information about your areas of expertise and interest, likes and dislikes, homepages, and so forth. Obviously, this will depend on how comfortable you are with respect to privacy.
  • You may include one or more Wikipedian categories, such as Category:Wikipedian musicians. Wikipedian categories are intended to help Wikipedians with similar broad interests to congregate and converse. They have some similarity to Wikiprojects, but are much less formal. Wikipedian categories should not overlap with article categories. It is important to include the word "Wikipedian" in such category names. Also, they should be categories with the general Wikipedian category. See also: Wikipedia:User categorisation.

While some of my categories may have been questionable, not all of them were. Rather than destroying my personality, you could have at least removed the questionable categories. Anagram 22:49, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[25-Jan-2006 03:36:09] Got a control channel message <drini> "pgkbot you suck"

If status is saying it hasn't received an event it quite a while as an op try: pgkbot reader reset

That causes it to drop the connection to wikimedia and reestablish it, should cure problems like that... --pgk(talk) 17:57, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Forgot to add channel swapping should work, so you can easily just swap the two channels around with

pgkbot dest swap #wikipedia-en-vandalism #wikipedia-en-vandalism2

--pgk(talk) 18:03, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

KREEPY hehehhehe ~~

It would be good to mention the autoblacklisting on blocking and include an FAQ section about "I visited the channel and found I was on the blacklist, but I've never vandalised.." --pgk(talk) 22:48, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Drini, your user page is gone lol. If I may ask what is the purpose of the test? KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 00:10, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It as because [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Claimants of the Duchy of Braganza]+ notice it was put up for deletion the 18th by pgk and I removed it the 23th, 5 days afterwards. So please refrain in the succesive from issuing your false statements about me. -- ( drini's page ) 23:25, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

An Esperanzial note[edit]

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)

Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the goof![edit]

Hi Drini! Sorry about the goof there. I left a note on Jossi's talk page, thanking him for fixing my mistake. I also explained there what I think happened. To summarize: I was on RC patrol when I saw the vandalism to your page and reverted the same time that Zzyzx11 did. So in the collision, I ended up accidentally reverting Zzyzx11's revert (Edit #1). I immediately caught my mistake and reverted back to him (Edit #2). At that point, I thought all was taken care of. At that point, I made yet another mistake that I didn't catch at first. I used the BACK button on my browser to return to the Recent Changes page. In so doing, I backed up through my original "Edit #1" revert. Since I was using Lupin's popup tool, the bad revert was resubmitted without me even realizing it. Jossi was quick to pick up on my mistake and fixed it on my behalf. I left him a note of thanks in return. Anyway, I hope that explains the error. -- ShinmaWa(talk) 05:54, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's ok, ,I know you're one of the good guys, that's why I was confused and went to ask. -- ( drini's page ) 05:55, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad you came and asked. Again, I apologize for the confusion. I didn't realize I had a reputation as a "good guy" or any reputation at all :) Thanks for saying so. -- ShinmaWa(talk) 06:01, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removing AfD from Charles I[edit]

Please do not removed AfD notices; that is vandalism.

no, afd nominations on bad faith are disruptive. So you better stay clean. -- ( drini's page ) 19:57, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Unstoppable Wikipedian (Take Two)[edit]

Can you block him on sight? He created a new account to continue vandalising.--Adam (talk) 20:02, 30 January 2006 (UTC) I already blocked him on sight. -- ( drini's page ) 20:03, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help. Guess you noticed it was taking absolutely forever to delete all that nonsense? —Cleared as filed. 05:33, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Entombed Corpse[edit]

Hi. I noticed you closed the discussion for deleting Entombed Corpse but the article is still there. Sorry if I just jumped the gun and there's some bot that has to run!  :) —Wknight94 (talk) 13:25, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

M de Sousa -- the talk page[edit]

Hi. Just to let you know that I did not delete your edits to MdeSousa talk page. We must have edited at the same time and I just pressed the save button shortly after. BR --BBird 14:10, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I like your black box block-notice graphic[edit]

A block without warning from an abusive admin!

That is all. ;) --Syrthiss 16:58, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to use it ;) {{subst:bbblock|~~~~}} You can put it on your monobook.js for easy access (I'm thiking of doing a global simpler template though) -- ( drini's page ) 16:59, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Might look better if it was red instead of black. Oh, have a block without waning too. --GraemeL (talk) 17:36, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, but it's actually the blacbox nuvola icon ;) I?m looking however how to make the table transparent, do you know how? -- ( drini's page ) 17:38, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and I edit conflicted with you doing it. :-P --GraemeL (talk) 17:52, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, but I still like it black, it's.. soothing compared to red (as not to incite flamage feedback), it's slick, aesthetic... ;) -- ( drini's page ) 18:04, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
So black is the new black? --GraemeL (talk) 23:37, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Drini, I see you're currently active. I'm a non-admin on ip's RC petrol and I've noticed the admin vandal noticeboard is unattended. Help would be appreciated! Mikkerpikker ... 19:18, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
