Citations

Hi, please follow the referencing guidelines for articles - see WP:CITEFOOT. Hohenloh + 21:35, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

The article Paula Gruden has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of her notability able to be found in independent reliable sources

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The-Pope (talk) 06:59, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

CHF project

Greetings, GLAD to see you got the position although sorry its so short. Two months doesn't give you much time. I just wanted to let you know that I added this project to the Joint supported projects list of WPUS as well (along with the other US GLAM projects). I did notice there doesn't appear to be a WikiProject template for it though. I also think it might be beneficial to create some categorization for it as well. Are those something you would want? Kumioko (talk) 17:25, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

Thank you! Yes, it is a short period of time to try to have an impact, so I'm running at high speed :-) We have a GLAM project page which talks about what we're doing Wikipedia:GLAM/Chemical Heritage Foundation but any help or advice (or active creation of useful templates) that you offer would be useful and appreciated. I've done a couple of workshops in-house at CHF to educate about using Wikipedia (the second was yesterday), and we will be having an Edit-A-Thon, open to remote participants as well as local, under the hashtag #GlamCHF, on June 20. That will be the culminating event of my two months: help in promoting it locally (Philadelphia) or online would also be much appreciated.Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 18:03, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
No problem, I already watchlisted the project page. I just created the template and am in the process of creating the categories. I'll post the template and instructions to the project in a little while. I'll start tagging a few articles too but since there isn't much categorization yet its hard to know exactly what's in the projects scope. Kumioko (talk) 18:44, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
Wikipedia:GLAM/Chemical Heritage Foundation#Possible Target Articles may give you an idea of some of the content; lots of biographical stuff, particularly about Women in chemistry; We're also going to be putting some Alchemy images and possibly others on Wikimedia Commons. So far the only category we've created is the one for Commons images from the Project. Thanks! Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 18:51, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
I noticed you removed the WPUS template from the CHF project page. I had thought that there would be more of an overlap but after looking I tend to agree that there probably wouldn't be that many that would apply to WPUS. Do you think it would be better to remove the CHF project from WPUS and just use the CHF template? I hadn't tagged but 1 or 2 articles so it would be a trivial change. Also, there is a related discussion about the GLAM projects at Template talk:WikiProject United States currently if you wanted to comment there. Kumioko (talk) 17:33, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, I was just looking at it. Yes, I think removing it from WPUS is appropriate.
Also, is there an easy way to change the text of the WikiProject Chemical Heritage Foundation template? As it stands, it's a little misleading, and makes it sound like a potential COI. But don't worry about it if it's hard to make happen.
Currently "to improve the coverage of the Chemical Heritage Foundation and related topics on Wikipedia"
Proposed "to improve the coverage of topics of interest to the Chemical Heritage Foundation on Wikipedia"
Also, is there a standard invitation template that I could put on people's talk pages to invite people to our Chemical Heritage Foundation Edit-A-Thon ? Thanks so much! Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 17:43, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
No problem I'll add that to the list of changes on the WikiProject US template. I updated the CHF template per your request already. There isn't really a standard one but you could use the one from the NLH in the discussion above as a template and use that. If you had something in mind I could make something. Either one. If you need my help just let me know. Kumioko (talk) 17:52, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
I am not able to attend the Edit-a-thon Invitation due to a prior commitment. Given my desire for anonymity, I am not sure if I would attend even if I were able, but thank you for the invitation and kind words. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 13:55, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

There are two kinds of people in the world,

those that divide the world into two kinds of people, and those who do not. I am a member of the former group. So this time I am dividing the world into two groups, the artists and the scientists. I deal almost exclusively with the arts camp. So thanks for the Edit-a-thon Invitation, and I will be on the lookout for an opportunity to do some editing, but I make no promises. What is the "Penn iGEM 2013 team"? Any way to send a message like the ones I have just sent, as the facilitator, to the other attendees?

I was happy to meet you at the CHF event, and I look forward to seeing you at thePhiladelphia Wiknic on Saturday afternoon. I have been asked to be the facilitator, which only means that I will try to get the Wikipedian attendees to talk about what Philadelphia area editors would like to do in the future, such as recruiting more editors, having events, and what we would like to achieve for Philadelphia or Pennsylvania or nearby state articles. We need to be more organized. I hope you can contribute. --DThomsen8 (talk) 00:22, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

CHF Tuesday at 5 pm

We agreed at the last THATcamp session, supposedly on GLAM, that we would meet at 5 PM on the second Tuesday, which to start is October 8. What do I have to be ready to do, besides Wikipedia editing? --DThomsen8 (talk) 19:16, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

I don't doubt that the GLAM event is in November, but there is a different informal meeting on Tuesday. --DThomsen8 (talk) 19:50, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
Not that I'm aware of. To my knowledge, the Wikipedia editing session would be one "breakout" session for the GLAM Cafe, to be held every second Tuesday, starting next month (November). I went in with Jeff Guin last week when he booked the space with the site managers. Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 13:12, 5 October 2013 (UTC)

Some interesting things from CHF. Just listened to this podcast: [1]. Seems like some places where they have in interest in Wiki and other places where they have additive content. Not sure what it all means but an interesting situation and in areas of high popular interest.71.127.137.171 (talk) 18:08, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

Thomas Paine

Thank you for uploading the caricature of Thomas Paine by Isaac Cruikshank, but please stop adding a link to the "Chemical Heritage Foundation" to the caption, as this breaks two Wikipedia guidelines:-

  1. WP:CREDITS which states:- "Unless relevant to the subject, do not credit the image author or copyright holder in the article"
  2. WP:EL which states that "External links should not be used in the body of an article"

Thanks Arjayay (talk) 22:42, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi Arjayay,
My understanding was that it's acceptable to include information about the current location of a work of art. Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Captions states "The present location may be added in parentheses: (Louvre)." I can improve my formatting since I see from the guidelines that what I was doing isn't ideal: I hadn't been using the brackets. Presumably using (Chemical Heritage Foundation) would be acceptable under that guideline. Would a linkback be acceptable if it points to information specifically about the image? I didn't have a page about the Paine image specifically, so I had linked the page to the organization's site. (I've see that done elsewhere, so I didn't realize it was an error. Apologies.)
