Hello Mas 18 dl and Welcome to Wikipedia!

Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy the encyclopedia and want to stay. As a first step, you may wish to read the Introduction.

Here are some more resources to help you as you explore and contribute to the world's largest encyclopedia...

Charlton Athletic F.C.[edit]

Hi, I'll be reviewing the article on Charlton Athletic F.C. for GA criteria. Pass, hold or fail, I'll add my comments to the talk page and let you know the result. Feel free to get in touch with me about this review at any time. All the best. The Rambling Man 18:28, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've placed the GA review on hold pending the resolution of a number of comments on the talk page. Feel free to get in touch if any of the points need clarification. The Rambling Man 07:35, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Scout Association[edit]

Good work with your clean up of this article. Are you a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Scouting? --Bduke 12:59, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

not yet, I am considering joing though--Mas 18 dl 15:34, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations on getting this to GA status. Well done indeed. I have however reverted your last edit as I am fairly sure that fair use can not justify having the section logos on this article but only on the article to which they directly refer. It would be nice if I am wrong, but I do not think I am. --Bduke 13:43, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ok then, your judgement is probably better than mine--Mas 18 dl 13:54, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neil Warnock[edit]

He has been confirmed as Palace manager and the source has been quoted. If you keep reverting the article it will be considered vandalism and you will be banned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.158.139.99 (talk) 14:32, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Cheers for adding Sven to the England managers template. Purely an oversight on my part that he got lost when I implemented the new template. --Jameboy 11:09, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem--Mas 18 dl 11:58, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chief scouts[edit]

Good work. Now we have them all. Isn't there some controversy about Michael J. H. Walsh that should be mentioned? Take a look at my talk page where there is a long discussion about the succession box for Chief scouts - mostly by others while I slept. --Bduke (talk) 21:52, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about any controversy about Walsh, I only used an 'official' source for those two articles so I guess it wouldn't cover things like that.--Mas 18 dl (talk) 10:49, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The information you re-shaped, which basic outline was added by another editor in error, has been removed. This is because the match in which it occurred is non-notable to the subject of the article, namely Lee Mason the referee. Cup Finals, play-offs, and the like, are notable to him because it shows progression in his own notability. Moreover, Wikipedia is not a complaints desk, and the source you provided shows only what the managers thought of the referee's display, not the balanced view expected from perhaps a commentator, or commentators; in other words, those further removed from the possibility of biased opinion, such as in definite statements by BBC News or Sport confirming some kind of overwhelming controversy, or from other reputable organisations (reliable sources, as required in our guidelines). The fact that BBC Sport provided the source in an article in which the managers 'sounded off' is not in itself a mark of neutrality. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 11:22, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Precedents?[edit]

Hi. Please state the precedents you refer to in your recent edit summary at Greg Halford. It is my understanding that WikiProject Football, especially biographies, works in terms of the club holding the player's registration being the current club (e.g. David Martot, on loan at Brighton is still owned by his French club, Le Havre AC, and the infobox shows it that way). An early reply would be appreciated. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 17:05, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Most infoboxes state both the club the player is owned by and the club they are on loan at. The example you provided is the only I've seen designed that way.--Mas 18 dl (talk) 17:25, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, have a look at these: Adam Johnson (footballer), Joe Anyinsah, Michael Johnson (footballer born 1973), Simon Gillett, Graham Kavanagh, Romain Larrieu, Russell Saunders, plus many, many more at List of English football transfers Winter 2007-08 - check them out.
Meanwhile, I'll be asking about this officially at WikiProject Football/Players, which is the correct procedure - "loan arrangements" are not "transfers". Transfers refer to change of ownership of contract, not a physical playing move. The club holding the registration is the only official "Current club" where national/international football associations are concerned, and with Wikipedia's ethos of true representation in biographies a major concern, the biographical player articles in the encyclopedia need to reflect that.
I'll let you know how I get on, but if I'm proved right, I would expect you to let me make the change back in Greg Halford. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 21:17, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, again. You can follow the debate here. For my part, it looks as though there is enough immediate opposition to my point of view that I will be leaving well enough alone this time. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 21:21, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to say thank you for fixing that mistake. I likely wouldn't have seen it. ;) crassic![talk] 16:48, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Mas 18 dl (talk) 17:18, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Judith Symes[edit]

I notice that you tagged the page Judith Symes for speedy deletion with the reason "CSD A7". While that's a valid reason for speedy deletion in general, this page does not qualify for speedy deletion under that criterion because references of any reliability cited in an article are implicit assertions of importance taking it outside the ambit of A7, and very reliable sources such as are listed in this article, make A7 all the more inapplicable. If you still want the page to be deleted, please consider tagging it with a speedy deletion template which does apply, redirecting it to another page, proposing the page for deletion if it appears to be an uncontroversial matter, or taking the page to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion for a wider discussion. Thanks! --Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 13:58, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Middle names[edit]

Hey, I was wondering where you've been getting the middle names from for footballers like Chris Gunter and John Bostock. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 12:26, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This website: [2]. It lets you search the registration of births up to 2006, including names, location and date of registration. Though some names have a lot of entries through the process of elmination you can find which one you're looking for. Mas 18 dl (talk) 12:33, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That looks fantastic, thanks! Mattythewhite (talk) 12:35, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the improvements made to Michał Kamiński's article - I was going to attempt to do precisely the same thing myself. I also notice you seem to be a Conservative supporter, or have an interest in their activies, as well as being a Charlton fan. Excellent!SE7™Talk/Contribs 22:41, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, unfortunately at the moment I feel unable to confirm your second guess because of my pet hate :(--Mas 18 dl (talk) 22:57, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Notice

The file File:Morgan Iron Works.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
